Description of Work: I recently discovered I had water coming in thur my chimney. I scheduled for them to clean and inspect my chimney. Brian and Cezar did a great job cleaning the chimney. Brian figured out the cause of my water issue and identified another dangerous problem that I was not aware of. He explained everything to me in detail, and recommended some cost effective fixes.

Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal from them for a chimney sweep and inspection. They tried to upsell us on something we didn’t need.

Description of Work: They did a chimney cleaning and inspection in preparation for the winter. They arrived a bit later than the expected window, but the office did call to let us know they were running late. The cleaning was performed quickly, and as far as I could tell, thoroughly and with minimal disruption in the house. After the inspection, they provided recommendations for service and repairs with accompanying pictures and assessment of urgency for each recommendation. We have not yet had that service done, but would likely use them for that given our positive experience.

Description of Work: They arrived on time, did the job, cleaned up, and left without leaving a mess on the hearth. Although they offered to give an estimate on some needed chimney repairs, they didn't push and push, unlike some other chimney cleaning services.

Description of Work: I used a discount coupon from Angie's list to get a chimney cleaning and estimate on some repairs. They did the cleaning very quickly and the estimate was for more than I could afford at the time (nearly $4k), but gives me the information needed to make repairs before using the chimney. I've lived in this house for 4 years and have never used the chimney, but sadly I can't safely use it until these repairs are made. I will consider getting the work done with this company, though I am likely to also get a second opinion/estimate.

Description of Work: I received an assessment of my foundation and received a proposal on what can be done to eliminate water seepage into home. The proposal was detailed in conveying what was included as well as the cost. I requested this as an option to installing a sump pump as the sump pump seemed, for me, to be a treatment not a cure.

Description of Work: They cleaned the fireplace chimney, which was very dirty--did a great job!, and did an evaluation indicating that the furnace flue liner was deteriorated (house is 78 years old) and was no longer up to spec, and that the fireplace chimney had a dangerous structural flaw. Problem encountered when they re-attached the limit switch after the repairs to the furnace flue, which was only discovered when the heat didn't come on subsequently. I called my HVAC contract company at that time (that had already performed fall maintenance), who identified the problem. The owner of American Chimney came the very same day and took responsibility for reimbursement for replacing the limit switch (a $500 repair), but my HVAC company was unable to locate the necessary part for nearly a week, so it was cold in here! They did ultimately pay. I used them for a subsequent repair on another property I own, and there was an extra and unexplained charge to my credit card the same day for $189. It took nearly two months for that to be resolved because of lost/misplaced paperwork, but it ultimately was. I think they're a very good company in terms of the kind of locally owned and operated company I truly like to support, as well as in terms of quality of service and responsiveness, but they are sometimes spotty. I will definitely use them again, however, since they clearly are customer-oriented and responsible.
