Precision Door Service

The technician arrived on time (at the start of the two-hour window provided), and took about 45 minutes to complete the job. He asked me if there were any specific problems to address (there were), told me what he was going to do, and then went to work. He was very polite and professional, and cleaned up everything when he was done. The tech did ask if I had replaced one of the door springs recently (I had) and then suggested that I also replace the other spring in the near future so that they are "matched" in terms of resistance. I already had the second spring but had not installed it yet, so I told him I'd take care of it soon. There was NO "upsell" pressure at all or, nor did he try and get me to buy any additional services beyond the tune-up service that I had already paid for with the coupon. This was a very pleasant and professional service and I'd definitely use Precision again if the need arises.

The technician arrived 50 minutes late and proceeded to tell me that I need to spend $400 - $500.00 to replace springs. I politely declined, but the tech wanted to call the owner to see if he could do better (not my idea). The tech called the owner and explained he was on his speaker phone and the technician ran the information and proposed costs by the owner. The owner used some foul language and repeated the phrase a scond time. I promptly walked the technician out of my house and told the owner that he was unprofessional. To be fair, the technician appeared shocked and embarresed by the owners actions. As an update, the same service from another Angie's List company cost me $200.00 and they tuned and lubricated both garage doors and programmed new passcodes for our cars. Precision wanted another $175.00 to inspect, lubricate and set new passcodes for us.

They were fabulous. It was very inexpensive. The doors look great. They called me back immediately. They set up the appointment immediately and they beat the price of the other companies I had out.

Let me first say that I called Precision to perform preventative maintenance on two of our garage doors. Prior to one of my garage doors becoming inoperable the reps were very polite. Derrick treated my mother-in-law very respectfully when he came to our home. Unfortunately in less than a month after the "Big Deal" service, the gears in our box were stripped and our garage door no longer functioned properly. My first call was received by Henry who stated he would call me back, 3-4 days later I had to call again because he did not return my call. Henry answered and his polite demeanor became very confrontational, defensive, and hostile once I explained that my door had broken shortly after their repair. A man got on the phone and introduced himself as the president and CEO and stated that their service was not responsible for stripping the gears even though Derrick admits that during his initial inspection there was not damage of any kind to my gears. The only problem that he identified was the need for a spring although there was no active damage. Both the CEO and Henry stated on the phone during my call, that they were not responsible and resented me calling and expressing concern with their service. They blamed Angie's List for forcing them to offer a Big Deal against their wishes. The CEO said, "I appreciate Angie List's customers but I cannot be responsible if you do not want to spend the money to buy a new spring." I asked the CEO to come and inspect his employees work to confirm that everything was done correctly but he refused and resent Derrick the original serviceman. Derrick came back and stated that the spring caused the damage. He wrote me a repair estimate for over 700.00. I called Derrick and asked him about the estimate and explained that I was concerned that the vinyl wheels he put on were creating friction and causing the door to drag as it raises. Derrick accused me of trying to get a free garage door and stated that I was "out of luck". He became irritated with our conversation and hung up on me. I have a home owners warranty and will not incur any expense more than a 60.00 deductible to repair or replace the opener. While I expected this company to take responsibility for their service, I was not looking to get something for nothing. The truth is I would not use Precision if they wanted to give me a garage door for free. The gear box that had no damage before their service was completely shredded with in 30 days of their service.

We found it to be overall a very good experience. They were very responsive and the people were very professional.

When ready to leave on an errand, I discovered that my garage door spring had broken. There was no way I could open the garage door and get my car out. I saw that Precision was highly rated on Angie's list and gave them a call. The person answering the phone was very polite and helpful and said she would send someone as soon as possible. Derrick arrived within an hour and was able to replace the springs in about a half hour. (Even though only one spring had broken, it was necessary to replace both springs.) He also noted that the person who had installed the garage door opener (not his company) had not used a correct part to secure the opener to the uppermost panel. The result was a tear in the panel which he showed me. Derrick was able to get information for me regarding the replacement of the panel, although we have not dealt with that at present) I was very pleased with this service and appreciated the discount I received due to being a member of Angie's List.

If all customer service and general service from companies was this good, the world would be a better place. I called Precision Overhead Garage Door Service to set up an appointment, and they were able to schedule a technician for the next day. I had anticipated having to wait a few days to have anyone see me, as that now seems to be the norm in this day and age. Derrick and another technician arrived promptly and were very professional and thorough. The explained everything to me and made their recommendations. The work they did was excellent and I would definitely hire this company again.

The technician arrived on time, assessed the problem with the remote controls, key pad not operable and the changing of light bulb in the unit. He was very professional and had the service completed in only a short time. I was pleased with his knowledge of the system that operates the garage. I will definitely call again for this service.

The first time they came out, they examined my broken garage door. They were able to put it back in the down position and secure it until they could return with a replacement door. They came back with the replacement door on the day we had agreed to. They upgraded the rollers at no additional charge and provided additional safety features that didn't automatically come with the garage door I had selected. They were courteous and professional. :)

The garage door totally stopped working on a Sunday afternoon and Precision came within a couple of hours. When it was determined that the 20-year-old door was beyond repair, their sales force followed up within a matter of days. The sales rep gave us a wide range of style and price options and explained them thoroughly. The door we selected was installed by the following Saturday. We could not have been more pleased with their level of service and professionalism from the beginning of the process to the end.

The Tech, called ahead of time to inform me that he was on the way. He arrive minute later. I tech was very professional and complted the job in a timely matter. My garage door is working now. Job well done!!!

The technician was extremely efficient. Serviced the door and installed keypad in about 30 minutes. Would absolutely use this company again.

I have never had any issues with my 3 garage doors at my residence having lived in it over the last 6 plus years. I saw this deal on Angies and tried to click through the deal advert but it would not go through. I called these people up and said I am referring to Angies big deal special and they said it will extend the same deal for additional $35 or so. I reluctantly agreed because they said the deal had expired and i was late in my response and they could not honor the same price anymore. On the service day, they said one time and came at another (I have dealt with this company on a couple of occasions now and they will invariably switch the time on you - they are always running late - period). Whatever preventative work they performed (lube and changing out metal rollers) did negligible for the noise level. When i inquired that any hinges would be changed they conveniently said no hinges require changing and they were unfortunately not carrying the same type of hinges in their truck. Anyway I forked over $350 and barely a couple of weeks later one of the garage doors won't work. When they completed their work they had found no issue with this door and now suddenly the thing snaps coincidentally so soon after they completed their service on it. I call them back and explain (the owner was on holiday so I am dealing with others) and they agree to send a service tech to look at the door at no charge. On the day of the service, they call and say they could be running upon 3 hrs late and that there will be a service charge for visiting. Despite reminding them of the previous agreement they did not relent and I had to cancel the service and will shop now for a more honest service provider. From the get go this co was looking to maximize the repair costs by pointing out things with one of the other garage doors that did not seem reasonable or rationale. What ended up actually happening is that the garage door that was deemed A Ok by this company actually broke after they serviced it. Shop for a more honest service provider - not one that is looking to squeeze every $ they can get out from the service visit. Very poor customer experience and a waste of my $. UPDATE: COmments in response by service provider are grossly inaccurate reinforcing my beliefs in the operations and practices of this service provider - BUYER BEWARE!

The experience was great. The two guys that came to my house were polite and respectful. They called me to let me know that they were on their way. The communication was great. I sent them an email on a Wednesday to let them know about the coupon that I bought on Angie’s List and I asked them if they could come on a weekend. They were here on Saturday morning (within 3 days). They changed the rollers, lube everything and one of the guys explained to me why the frame was slightly bend and why there was light coming in through the door seal. They explained everything they did and gave me some maintenance tips. They gave me a sticker and I put in my wall right away. From now on I will call them for any issues with my garage door.

We purchased the big deal for this service. We bought it probably about four or five months ago. I don’t recall the exact amount of the deal. My husband was very pleased with them. They were right on time and they responded quickly. When we finally got around to calling them, they came out and I think it was the next day. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. They went right down their list. We were having problems with the doors, where either they were not coming down quite right or going down and then coming right back up. We knew that we needed a little bit of a tune up. We will use their services again in the future.

The young man who showed up was very professional and personable. I learned more about garage doors that day than I ever knew before as garage doors are something I rarely think about. He gave me quite an education on the mechanics and foibles of garage doors. To begin they require service checks from time to time due to all the individual components that make the door go up and down. He changed the rollers per the agreement, lubed, and tightened bolts where necessary. As a result, my garage door goes up and down more quietly and the sticking problem I had where the door stopped 9/10th on the way down is gone. It works beautifully now. If I need to replace either my door or the opener, I'd definitely call on this company!

I signed up for Precision's $99 garage door service on Angie's List. When their tech, Allan, arrived he immediately made a big act about my old door springs, how dangerous they were, and when we closed the door (stretching the springs) he moved to the back of the garage and said, you'd better come back here, sir, these are very dangerous. I told him they have been there a long time and not likely to break at that instant, but he said something about they had recently had an inservice on this issue and he didn't want me, him or my cars injured. Whole thing seemed a little over dramatic. Next he gave me a repair estimate, quite high, and before I knew it we were talking about a new door and he had the salesman on the phone. The salesman came two days later to give the final estimate. My mind works slow, didn't put 2 and 2 together until my son said the whole thing sounded fishy. So I went online to Angie's list and, lo and behold, someone else had the same experience (see below). This was enough so I went to the higher rated company on the list, Fred C. Johnson, Inc., got their estimate, went with them, they did a great job for a great price, all is well. Except, when I called Precision to get my $99 back (since no service was done), Mr. Harry Hall the owner, Mr. "?I personally guarantee that your experience with Precision Garage Doors, Inc. will be professional ? If ever you are not 100% satisfied with any product, installation, or service you have received from Precision?I will make it right!? didn't like what I had to say. Although he said I could get my money back from Angie's since he hadn't been paid and had done no service, he questioned my interpretation of things. I pointed out the prior homeowner who had a similar experience with Allan, and Harry said, "He was an idiot." Interesting comment. He then started into a lecture about how they were a top rated company, and about garage door safety, which was frankly boorish and irrelevant since I granted him old springs could be dangerous but not THAT dangerous, and I actually had other things to do, so I politely (really) told him I didn't need to hear all of that, and he told me I had an attitude problem. Well, one of us does. He clearly does not like any comments that aren't in his favor. So glad I read the signs and used someone else.

A great experience from start to finish. Selected Precision Garage Doors based on Angie's list reports. Called for appointment the following day to accommodate work schedule. Extremely professional response from the first phone call to paying the bill. Technicians called 30 minutes prior to arrival; arrived on time and gave a clear explanation of the work required and the cost. Worked efficiently and did a terrific job. Very happy and would recommend to anyone and will definitely use again.

After he completed the inspection he went over t in detail explaining the parts he would be treplacing as part of the tune up and actions I could take which would improve the the operation of the garage door. He also gave me a cost of the suggestions but did not push when I decided not to do the upgrade. When I am ready to replace the door I will definitely be calling Precision to do the work.

Everything is working perfectly now and there is a two year warranty on parts. Very pleased in Potomac.

The technicians arrived punctually, were amazingly polite, knowledgeable, speedy (which confirmed their level of expertise) and repaired a noise problem that had been occuring since garage door was installed by builder. They discovered loose cables and springs that were too tight causing a loud groaning and vibration. I highly recommend Precision Garage Doors, Inc., and will highly recommend to my neighbors. Our experience with the service people was consistently positive, from the man who did an emergency repair on the old door to the man who installed the new door. Our experience with the front office was more mixed. Those who answered the phone seemed a bit put off and somewhat unfriendly each time we called (for initial problem, then to request a sales call, and then to check on the delivery and make an appointment for installation). It seemed there were possibly internal problems within the office? Having said that, the door works well and looks good. And as we said, the people doing the servicing and installation were friendly, efficient, and meticulous about doing the repair and installation right. So in the end we are quite satisfied.
