The gentleman who came out for the install on 5/8/12 was John. As I recall, he was early, which is always a plus in my book. I pretty much left him alone - nobody wants the homeowner hovering. I did check in once or twice while he was here and saw the install of the garage door was going well. We were warned the install would be close to 4 hours because the ceiling in our garage is cement and drilling into the cement for the opener was going to take a bit longer than normal. When John was done, he went over everything he did and showed me how to operate the keypad. There was a slight problem with the plastic cover for the opener - it didn't want to close so John got right back on the ladder and made sure that was OK before he left. It has been performing wonderfully ever since.

I called Precision Garage Door because one of our two single garage doors was not moving. They were able to come out the next morning, which was good. They did say that I was the first appointment of the morning, but then there were a few calls that the tech would be there around 10 (not 8), then 915, which was ok. I showed the tech the issue & he immediately diagnosed the immediate cause (stripped gear) and ultimate cause (too-large springs installed). I was then quoted a price of $125 per spring (!) to exchange, $35 per safety cable, and either $190 to replace the gear or $450 (!!) for a new unit. Shell-shocked, I agreed to the spring replacement/ repair price, but am now regretting that decision. Their quality of work was fine and the technician was friendly & competent, but those prices... I'm getting angry just thinking about it. Seriously, I could buy an equivalent opener, new, for $150; I understand the convenience factor, but a 300% markup? Similarly on the springs, a quick internet search found them for ~$25 each. Yes, I would have to know what size to get and then install them myself, but to get around a 500% markup I would happily do that. Perhaps I had a bad experience. However, I am appalled by their pricing and would plan on non-recommending them to anyone else needing garage door work going forward

We had an old wood door removed and a new, modern door installed after one of their techs came out to do a tune up and wouldn't touch the door because it was old and failed inspection on every point, which we figured since it wouldn't lift anymore and was about 30 years old. We got opinions and quotes from a few other places but Precision offered the highest quality and because they were so highly rated, we went with them. There wasn't any pressure to upgrade, no big sales pitch. Just a decent, honest company that did a more than decent job. The door runs smooth and quick and is relatively quiet for a garage door and adds tremendous aesthetic value to our home. We are very, very pleased. We ordered a color that is not kept in stock (sandtone) because we have a painted house in the woods and wanted a more earthy color than what the in-stock doors had to offer so we had to wait a couple of weeks for it to come in. Not a big deal and it was totally worth the wait because it looks great! I still can't get over the improvement it makes both inside and out. They consulted us on how we planned to use the garage in the future and we discussed several different layers of insulation and styles but since we don't use the garage except as a place to keep our vehicles, we went with a rather base-model door with a row of plain, square windows that we requested be installed along the top of the door and it looks awesome! The window upgrade was totally worth the $200 added onto the price tag. It's refreshing to open the house door and be able to see trees and what's going on outside instead of staring into an ominous dark pit. It's even more refreshing to pull up up to the house and see how much value it adds. Thank you so much and I'll be sure to refer you to anyone I know who is looking for a new garage door.

The technician arrived when he said he would, handled the job completely professionally, cleaned up after himself and demonstrated the system prior to his departure. All-in-all, it was a professional and well executed job. I would definitely hire this firm again. They get my highest endorsement.

We are very pleased with the service we received from this provider. The service person was prompt, polite, knowledgable, and made the repair quickly. Upon presenting the bill he explained in detail all the charges, told us about the warranty, and even wiped his feet when he came into the house. The entire process was a pleasant experience.

This is my first experience with Angie's List..and I am totally sold!!! I am going to use Angie's list for everything I need now! I knew when I called that the former company didn't do the job right therefore I wasn't suprised by what needed to be done or the cost. I appreciated the honestly of Barry even though I was hoping it wouldn't cost as much as it did however knew he was honest about the work needed and well worth the cost. AND the work comes with a 5 year warrenty. I highly recommend this company and Barry!

I called the company on a Friday and they set up an appointment between 8-10 am the following Monday. Great response! After 8 am on Monday, the company called to say the technician had an emergency and couldn't come that day and could I do it on Tuesday. I agreed as long as it was first call on Tuesday. He said 8-10- am. A few minutes past 10 am on Tuesday, the technician arrived. He looked at my doublecar- wide wood door and said he couldn't work on it because he could be killed. It didn't have a safety cable on the springs.He said he wouldn't even install the rollers. Then he said I could be killed anytime. These statements were repeated. He said the cable set would cost $100. He said the springs could break anytime - not if, but when - because they only last so long. It would be better not to replace with the same type, but with a newer conversion kit that doesn't require a safety cable. That would cost over $600. He mentioned of course, a new door could cost as much at $1600. I was thrown off, not being able to even get an inspection completed and a tune up and rollers after already spending the money for it, while I got some advice on what to do. I have had the rollers and track repaired previously, as well as a new motor installed. I appreciate the safety alert, but felt I was being pressured. I finally agreed to the additional $100 for the safety cable so we could proceed. While he installed them, I discovered online that cables cost around $8-15 a set. I asked him, then, how they were priced and he said it was for the installation time. I asked what the other multipoint inspection covered because I had not seen a list on their website. The technician said he already did a visual inspection as he was looking around. He installed the new rollers and showed me how the door was working better. I told him the scraping noise on the one side seemed actually worse. He then adjusted one of the rollers and the noise is reduced. I never asked what the tune-up entailed - not sure if I got one. After the technican left, I discovered the list for the mulitpoint inspection is on the payment receipt. This sours me on Big Deals.

I would hire this company again. Barry the technician was very nice and professional and a pleasure to deal with. He discounted some services he provided without me asking! Ask for Barry!

They were professional, responsive to my needs, very punctual, the quality or work was good, and the pricing was okay. I give them high ratings and will use them again in the future.

It was a WONDERFUL experience. I called with my calendar in hand expecting to be without my garage door for a couple of days. Operator took necessary information and told me that Alan would be there within a hour. Alan was at my door 30 minutes after I placed the call. He checked it out, told me what he thought the problem was, gave me all the prices (including the discount for Angie's List Members) and started work after my approval. The work was done and he gave me an assessment of the system. Kudos to Precision's operator for telling me the technician's name and that he would be in a marked van. It is a nice little practice that is too often overlooked.

After purchasing a Big Deal inspection + roller package. I e-mailed the company for an appointment time immediately after purchasing the deal, and received a call back within ten minutes. We scheduled the service for the following morning; the scheduler was extremely polite and friendly. Technician Derrick came to perform the service. He was outstanding: Polite, friendly, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable. In addition to performing the work, he took care to educate me about the garage door system -- and taught me things about proper lubrication that I hadn't known after owning this garage door for over 15 years!There was no attempt to upsell me. My system passed the inspection, and as part of the package Derrick replaced the rollers, lubricated the system, replaced a broken hinge, and did some work on the tracks.The socket for the infrared safety switch is failing intermittently, and although Derrick didn't have those parts with him he set up an appointment to return in two days. He also explained that, because my garage door motor is relatively new, this would be a warranty repair.Derrick cleaned up well after himself. Derrick clearly takes pride in his professionalism and works hard to provide high levels of customer service. UPDATE: Derrick returned to install the new infrared safety switch; he was on time, efficient, and courteous.

Precision was prompt in responding to my initial email and was able to set up an appointment for an estimate in the same week. Unfortunately, their responsiveness dropped moving forward. The representative did not arrive within the scheduled window and did not call. I reached out to him an hour after the window was over and he said that his last appointment ran late and that he would be on the way shortly, but it took another hour for him to arrive. Once he arrived he quickly identified our needs and said that he would get back to us the next day. He did email the next day to say that he still did not have an estimate, but would get back to us within the week. He emailed the same message a week later and then stopped responding to my email. I will not be moving forward with this company as I have not found their service experience to be reliable.

I wish that Precision Garage Door Inc. had been thoughtful enough to include in their offer that they will NOT provide this service to Northern Virginia as it is too far away. AngiesList territory is for Metro DC including Northern Virginia and surrounding Maryland areas. I really didn't need to expend the effort to purchase something that really wasn't available to me. This is a good way to create negative goodwill.

The gentleman who came was very professional, got straight to the point without messing around. He talked to me and he was quite confident. He came in took care of what he needed to take care of, and left.

Wow! This is the best contractor I have ever worked from. From the beginning of the process JR the sales person was patient and helpful. NO pressure to make a sale here. He kept me informed about the order until it arrived and we were ready to schedule the installation. John, the installer, was courteous, friendly and very professional. I would do business with them again without hesitation. This is the way that business should be conducted.
