Precision Door Service

They did a good job and I feel like I got what I paid for.

The service rep was extremely polite and answered all my questions. He seemed very knowledgeable. He serviced one of my garage doors and provided me an estimate to have the springs and cables replaced. Within one week of the servicing, the cable became unraveled. I called the company and the same serviceman returned to fix the problem. I decided to use a different company to have the springs and cables replaced because the company which I used was half the price.

I bought a "Big Deal" to get new rollers installed for garage door. When service tech arrived he told me I needed new springs as well. I'm not sure if I did need them, but the guy was at the house and I was already into this firm for $200 for rollers, so I had them do springs also. I felt like I was being upsold on the springs. Partly my fault for taking the "Big Deal" bait -- something I'd been burned on before.

They did an excellent job and saved us from having to replace the garage.

Technician was on time, friendly, and knowledgeable. He worked on adjusting our old, stiff garage door, and by the time he left the mechanism worked perfectly.

Went very well. Arrived when they said, did what they said they would do. They were promt polite and professional

Agency does not service area as advertised

While the company responded quickly to my call and called at the proper time, I was quickly impressed by the notion that the person providing the service was actually looking for additonal ways to make money by performing "additional" services as opposed to checking out my door. When he realized it was a failrly new garage door opener and wooden door, he seemed to realize that I would not pay for additional service beyond that paid for and was interested only in leaving the premises. Not impressed by a company that in effect wants you to pay for an appraisal.

From the phone call to the company to the arrival of the service, all was perfect. It was quite easy to schedule an appointment PLUS photos of the servicemen were online (no surprises at the front door) and a write-up about each was available. When the serviceman arrived (on time - actually about 20 minutes early), he was courteous, knowledgeable and extremely professional. I would recommend this company to anyone who would need this type of service.

Our garage door had not been working, would not go down and stay down using the remotes. We had it tuned up and the technician got it working, installed a keypad entry, and pointed out which parts might needs maintenance in years to come, but did not try to push any additional work on us.

I chose to have the key-less remote but they didn't have the one I wanted so I had to go with the rollers. I didn't want the rollers but did want to take advantage of the Big Deal I already purchased. They came out and put the rollers on and squirted them with oil. I didn't feel like they completed the whole tune-up check list. I don't think I got my moneys worth.

The work and the inspection went well.

I had used Precision Garage Doors in Laurel before for my home in Bowie and was pleased with the work, so when I was they were offering a Big Deal on Angie's list for Washington DC, I jumped on it for my condo in Alexandria. I called to schedule an appointment and the woman at Laurel said she would have to transfer me to the Virginia location that would handle Alexandria VA... she transferred me to the Virginia Beach VA location!! The woman in Virginia Beach was more helpful and knowledgeable of VA Geography. She transferred me to the franchise in Alexandria VA. The gentleman at that franchise would not honor the Angie's List Big Deal coupon. I called Angie's List and they refunded the money and apologized for the confusion. Companies and Angie's List should be more specific than "Washington DC" if the company does not serve the entire DC area. Angie's List Users in Greater Metro DC area should check with company before purchasing the Big Deal. I would use Precision Garage Doors in Laurel again for my home in Bowie, but I am not calling the Alexandria Location for my condo in Alexandria anytime soon.

Prompt service, professional, solid job. Did maintanence as described in the big deal, replaced springs for an extra charge ($75). Recommended.

Went fine I guess my problem is I can grease and silent rollers are a piece. He recommended safety cables, extra price. That isn't too expensive either. But I'm not in the garge door business. A truck an employee, grease and a few wheels is probably 35-40 in parts. 100 buck trip fee and labor. I need a repair currently, I won't call this company. Angie's is a bit inflated in price I think, so you get professional companies. That bad part is, that it has come to that. Extra cash just for references. Paying for protection. Someone else has done this,....

A terrible experience. My garage door spring broke and needed a quick repair...looked on Angie's list and found this company with the tag line that 2 people within 5 miles had submitted "A" reports on this company. Their company info on Angie's List also clearly states their servicing area is Frederick County. So, I called and made an appointment to have my garage door repaired. The scheduler made an appointment for the next day, Monday, between 8AM and 10 AM. Great I thought and went on to coordinate a day off from work to facilitate a timely repair as I needed my door fixed...I could barely get our cars out. At 8:30AM the following day, when they were supposed to come, a company representative called and told me that I was out of their service area and they weren't coming...sorry. Ok, I said, but why didn't you tell me that yesterday when I scheduled the repair and gave you my address? I also mentioned that they had apparently serviced others within 5 miles of here...Angie's List said so.....No answer...just, sorry we aren't going to be able to make it.So, I missed a day of work and still need to get my garage door fixed. Understand if I'm out of the service area but would have been nice to know before I took the day off.

The service was easy to schedule and the technician was polite and prompt. However, when Barry arrived he informed me that the existing opener was unsafe and needed to be replaced and that the springs were bad and needed replacing with new springs and safety cables. His pricing was $378.00 for the springs and cables, $525 for the new Liftmaster chain drive opener, plus $55.00 for labor. His total (with tax and discount) came to $854.00. I called the Benson Garage Door company. Their service was easy to schedule and the technician was polite and prompt. He confirmed that my old opener was broken however, he found nothing wrong with the springs. He agreed that they were old. Benson put in a Liftmaster beltdrive garage door opener for a total of $410.00. I will not call Precision Garage Doors again.

Had to come back 3 times because office didn't tell mechanics what might be needed.

We had our garage serviced for the first time in 5 years and he was able to get it working like new.

he came. he saw. he fixed. much quieter running, too. i recommend him for anyone getting or maintaining a garage door opener.

Called this morning looking for an appointment today. Originally told it would be tomorrow but she said she would fit me in today. Technician called as requested to let me know he was 1/2 hour out and showed up almost exactly 30 minutes later which was still well before our scheduled time estimate (Comcast could learn something here). Technician recommended replacing both springs which was what I expected. He could not have been more friendly and professional. The work was completed well within the estimated time frame in a professional manner at a fair price. Showed him the Angie's list coupon and he discounted accordingly without question. Would use again.

OVERALL IT WENT WELL WITH THE TECH CALLING AHEAD OF TIME TO SEE IF IT CAN COME TO THE HOUSE EARLIER WHICH IT WAS FINE WITH ME. THE TECH ( MR. DERRICK) WAS PROFESSIONAL IN SERVICE AND CONDUCT. I TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM I HAD AND HE WENT TO WORK AND WAS ABLE TO TELL ME MY PROBLEMS. HE PERFORM HIS REPAIRS AND ADVICE ME OF WHAT I HAD TO DO IN THE FUTURE TO KEEP THE DOORS WORKING PROPERLY. I NEED IT SOME PARTS SO HE WILL GET BACK TO ME TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THEM. WILL USE THEM AGAIN.

I thought they did a great job. The guy called to see if he could come early. They explained everything to me before they did any work, which I liked. They were very polite and I would recommend them.
