We needed a new (and longer) retaining wall, and also wanted to replace the concrete sidewalk with pavers. The project turned out well, and we were happy with both the price, and quality of the work. There was good communication throughout. The only small issue was that we were not happy with the initial stones brought in (a miscommunication on our part), but they took them back (2 200 lb stones) with minimal grumbling. The entrance our yard looks much better.

Both the process and the result were excellent. Could not have been better.
We had a rough design idea but it was greatly improved by dialogue with Mr. Shumizu and with his son and the team that did the work. When we did not like the color of the stone selected for the border, they brought new and excellent matching stone. They worked very hard an efficiently to cut the stone and do the hardscaping.
Since we had reduced the size of the planting area, they transplanted dozens of plants and even transported some of the excess plants to a neighbor.
From the hauling away of a ton of railroad ties to cleaning up, everything was done with dispatch and professionalism.
Mr. Shumizu has a wealth of gardening experience from Japan to Europe to Washington, DC. Anyone interested in creative, beautiful hard/landscaping should check out the Shumizu Landscaping website.

It took longer and cost more than initially expected, but the result was stunningly beautiful

They were talented landscaper. They sub contract the people and that's the problem. I would not use them in the future.

It was beautiful and they did an excellent job on that. They are very talented but you need to be clear in writing about expectations. They just did it. The trees were not as high as I wanted; I wanted them to cover the neighbor's and they didn't, so I was a little disappointed but other than that I thought they did a beautiful job. They were always on time. They were clean, polite, organized and great. The pool was fabulous. The price was good. If the landscaping does not meet your expectations, you need to say so.

They are a small firm and they were very cautious about their work. They focus on residential projects. We gets lots of compliments on our landscaping. They are a family company.
