Update: The wall plates are no longer mounted and quality of work is showing through. Overall the cost estimate we felt was high. We were on a timeline and settled with this electrician as he was recommended by our contractor and the phone calls we made to the electrician we had last used were not returned (Anchor Electrical - what is it about contractors and not sending estimates?). Ray seemed to be expensive but competent. He knew his way around setting things up for code work, etc. The work he did on the project was good quality. Unfortunately 30% into the job he developed an infection in his knee that did not heal in time to do any further work on our job. He sub contracted the job out to his son's company who seemed to hire exclusively irresponsible young smokers who littered our yard with ciggy butts and put off re-wiring our main circuit board twice just in time to ultimately lead to our being unable to depart for our vacation on time. In the midst of this delay the workers found time to walk off the job without notice so they could go and cash their checks prior to bank closing on Friday afternoon. We had Ray come in and babysit them until they finally finished the job. In addition the subs quality of work was questionable. At the close of the job Ray was still very concerned about collecting his full check. When we discussed the fact that he had to install less receptacles than originally planned he did the re-wiring to conform to functional requirements but did not admit that some money should be shaved off the overall bill. Finally and at time most irritatingly Ray was obsessed with his checks. He called us on a Sunday evening before work even started to arrange for his first paycheck pickup. At least 50% or more of his communications involved arranging for his pay. We began to joke that Ray was on his way to the racetrack with our check. Did I mention that Day 1 he was bad mouthing his son's companies quality of work, the same company that ultimately he had do our job? Decent technical electrician, but we did not feel like we received a good deal, nor was our experience anywhere near satisfactory.
