Senate Termite and Pest Control

They were the first to respond with a quote when I posted on Angi. I was satisfied with the (one-time) mosquito treatment they did -- it was effective in getting rid of the massive amounts of mosquitos that had been in my back yard due to previous residents letting the garden get very overgrown. I'm only giving a 3 because I think the service was descent, but just average. They could've earned more stars by (1) sending a text message or email to confirm the appointment date/time that we'd agreed on over the phone; (2) coming on time for the appointment, or at least sending a status update about the ETA; (3) providing some instructions about when it's safe to go into the yard after having sprayed the chemicals, or when I can water the lawn next post-treatment -- I came outside to say hi and try to speak to the guy who came, but he never turned off the blower to say a word to me -- just sprayed then left; and (4) having a less confusing payment process (When I booked, they took my credit card info so I assumed it was pre-paid, but then got an invoice after the service had been completed, which gave the impression I was being double-billed -- they were quick to explain that they took my credit card info but never charged yet, so it wasn't a problem -- but the process could've been more efficient.)

Everything was great from the initial visit and treatment to the 2 week follow up treatment and so far haven't seen any more ants but am still glad for the every three month re treatment that i signed up for to ensure the problem does not return ! Very good company to work with !

Marquise serviced my home on 8/10/23 for my quarterly review and did an excellent job of evaluating my home's interior and exterior for snakes and other rodents/pest which might have gained unauthorized entry. Marquise took the time to explain future treatment plans and how to maintain safety measures of prevention. I've been a satisfied customer of Senate since 2016 and highly recommend this company for your future termite and other pest concerns.

On 7 August 2023 Mr. Marquise Dorsey of Senate Termite and Pest Control arrived at my home on time as scheduled to address a yellow jacket problem I had in my back yard. The nest was under a corner of my shed with the bees causing havoc to anyone mowing the lawn nearby. Mr. Dorsey assessed the problem and within 30 or so minutes had eradicated the underground nest and removed it. I was impressed with Mr. Dorsey's professionalism and knowledge of his trade as he educated me about the yellow jackets' habits and places to nest (underground, which was quite surprising to me). It was a hot and uncomfortable day, yet he unhesitatingly donned his bee protection gear and proceeded with his task. My hat is off to him, a friendly and congenial gentleman. Five stars all the way. We have been using Senate pest control for the past 4+ years and have been so happy with them. Agreed they are pricey but they do deliver what has been discussed and then more. Always available, punctual and extremely professional. I only wish other vendors were even half of them as service providers. One annual fee and they visit as and when required without any further charges until and unless it is some separate service being performed.

Because of Angie's List's rating, I chose to have Senate provide a quote for extermination since I heard noises coming from the attic. James came out and spent 45 minutes looking around and taking pictures. He explained that the problem was bats, coming from several entry points on the roof/sofit areas. He explained that the remediation involved removal of old, soiled insulation, application for sanitization and sterilization, exclusion to seal openings, new pesticide and rodent-resistant insulation with R49 (16 inches) of blown-in insulation. I performed due diligence by having other companies provide quotes. One said there were racoons and when I checked with James, he sent me pictures of racoon poop (which is more human-like) so it was good to know someone knowledgeable. Besides offering the above-mentioned services, Senate was willing to look into my crawl space for other rodent entry ways into my house. I asked if they could supply a vapor barrier, they said yes - and did. A follow-up visit included a more detailed inspection to be able to properly assess time and labor needs. Can't remember his name but he has been with the company for many years and was very thorough. The last group of men (3) did the remediation. All of my Senate appointments arrived earlier than the stated time. They were professional and easy to talk to and worked their butts off. They showed me afterwards all of the rodent entry points that they plugged up. They added a rodent resistant cover to my dryer vent and pipped rodent resistent foam along my house ledge. They also notified me that I should think about a new roof - not right away - but in the next one to two years and what additional work those roofers should complete. I am so pleased with the work that they did and pleased with their attitude towards work and towards one another - they were truly a team. I felt like God led me to a trusted company, one I would recommend to anyone.

We have had two very good transactions with Senate. The office answers the phone and has been able to answer questions/take care of business each time. The technicians have both been very well prepared for the purpose of their visit to our property.

On 7/19/23, Marqui came out and serviced our house and outdoor shed and around the house. He was very thorough, professional and courteous. He checked all of the baits I had and even provided another one upon request. They work with you with your billing and financial needs. Senate is the best pest control I have hired thus far! All of the techs are very nice and professional. Keep up the good work!

I was initially misled by the sales representative. I was told the initial sign up fee was 400$ and there would be quarterly visits for 50$. I signed the contract and was later emailed a copy which was difficult to read. The technician, who had little training arrived with a hand full of glue traps and snap traps. As any home owner knows, who has experienced mice issues, you try snap traps and glue traps first. Mice are very smart and avoid those types of traps once one is caught. The second technician was wonderful and tried everything at his disposal which wasn't much. He had no information from the previous technician about what had been previously done. I was guaranteed by the initial representative that they would eliminate the problem. The second technician had only on the job training and asked his company for formalized training and he was refused same. He said he was only afforded on the job training. He was wonderful and tried his hardest but he can only perform to his own level of training. He had no certificate and I'm sure the newer employee who arrived first had none either. After 4 or 5 visits, not 1 mouse was eliminated. At the last visit, I think they finally put down maybe 2 bait traps. I started receiving multiple invoices for 50$ and was informed there was a 50$ dollar fee PER MONTH. Trust me, had I been told that, I would have never agreed to accept their services. Shame on me for not reading the contract. I took the represenatives word. I couldn't see it in email and forwarded it to a friend who has a PC and a printer. That's where I saw it. Since we have been finding numerous dropping piles and they can't catch one mouse after 4 or 5 visits, I terminated service. Also and mainly because I was misled by the fees. My mom is 86 and I have a learning disability so I suppose we were easy targets. The Manager called and threatened me, told me this will be placed on my credit report and I will further be charged a penalty. They deliberately misled us. I tried to contact the manager and I also asked the tech who came to have him call me, which he did but I never received a call back. When they sent me a link to review their company and it was poor, I received a call by the manager in 20 seconds. He begged me to change my review but I didn't know how. I gave him permission to have one of his IT guys to take it down which I guess he did. I have never taken a company to small claims court but I am preparing to and intend on recouping my initial investment. I think I know more about rodent control then they do. I hired another company years ago who caught mice consistently and they educated me because the technician was licensed. BEWARE. This is not a company you want to be associated with in any way. Also, check this out for your own knowledge in the future. I look forward to seeing them in court to resolve this issue and to protect others. People that come to your house in MD must be certified. NO ONE that came to my house had any formalized training or certificate of any kind. [*** Link removed ***]

Technician was very friendly, professional and efficient. Have used Senate for several years and have had no mice problems for quite some time now. All technicians that visit property are good and I recommend the company. Thx!

Andrew was thorough and efficient as always. Inspected all 10 Termite monitoring stations, including the one through the hatch and under my pool deck. No termites which is always a good result from the inspection.

I had a mole problem in my back yard. The technician came out and explained everything that would need to be done, the follow up and how all that would work. He was very friendly and helpful. The technician that actually came out to do the work was on time, very pleasant and explained everything he was doing and going to do. He explained the follow up process.

Very professional from my first conversation with the office to the two treatments. I had carpenter bees successfully treated, and a general indoor/outdoor pest treatment. I have a cat and an active garden. The technician worked with me to treat only what was needed in the garden versus doing the broad standard application. He was on time, efficient, and knowledgeable.

I appreciate that the technician provided a list of the pesticides that he used and that he explained when the treated surfaces would be safe for me and my pet. I also truly appreciate that he discovered a major flaw in the construction of my new home.
