Fabulous. Carpenter came on time and performed work as expected.

The work was fine but I purchased four hours of the handy man service, they ended up sending me two guys for two hours. So they came and they got everything done in a hour and a half. So they sent out a guy to come and look at your list of things and then he tells you what he thinks they can actually get done in four hours, and so I took a bunch of stuff off my list because he said their wasn't enough time. So then they sent out two guys for two hours except that they finished what was on the much shortened list in a hour and a half, I added one thing back, so basically I got three hours instead of four hours because they were only there for a hour and a half instead of the two hours and then there were things that they didn't get done because the estimator said that there was no way that they would have enough time to do that. The work that they actually did was fine and the workers were nice and clean and polite and all of that but I'm not sure I got my moneys worth let me say that.

Very well. The handyman was very good.

On 8/30, I purchased an Angie's List deal from JW for 4 hours of wood rot replacement, at a cost of $199. Shortly after purchase, JW sent an automated email asking me to call to schedule an inspection. I called and received their first available inspection date of 9/7. During the visit, the inspector surveyed my house and noted several other projects which JW could assist with (in addition to the wood rot repair) The inspector told me I could expect a quote for the work within 1-2 days, and then they would schedule the work. As of 9/13, I hadn't heard back so I followed up. I was told a quote would be sent by 9/16. It's now 9/17 and no quote. Unless the final service blows me away, I won't be using JW again anytime soon given the difficultly in simply getting a timely response. Update: JW performed the services requested on 9/26. The workers were polite, although one arrived an hour late and I had to explain (in detail) the work they were to perform that day. It appears the communication didn't get passed along. Both workers worked diligently and the final product was acceptable. On the one hand, the quality of the rot repair was poor and I will need to sand/re-paint a few sections. But on the other hand, the ingenuity of the other worker saved me from purchasing additional materials by finding a creative way to re purpose my existing porch railing. Overall, I would grade the quality of the work as C+/B-.

It went AMAZING! Kevin (?) and his colleague did top-notch work. It seemed like no matter the job - they got it done quickly and professionally.

They wanted to charge $50 for an estimate, and they offer a warranty of only 1 year. We got three estimates from other companies at no charge, and they all offer estimates of 3 to 10 years. We got no further with JW

Very well. Ray was a very nice, charming, friendly gentleman who explained everything that was going to be done, why it was being done, and what could be done in the allotted time. He was great and I would absolutely recommend him and request him for future work.

Went well. Ray was right on time, very professional and friendly. He talked me through what he was doing so I knew exactly what was happening.

It went well. I did not appreciate that I had to schedule an appointment for an estimate and after that there was a 4 week wait for the appointment for the actual services. Thankfully my work was not urgent! That said, I am pleased with the work they did--they arrived on time and were very courteous. I would use them again if I found myself in a situation where the wait time did not matter.

The guys the tame were incredibly professional, they were very patient and explained all the details of the work that needed to be done. Very clean and polite. It was a pleasure to have them in our home, we felt safe and things were fixed, making our house an even better one. I recommend them with our eyes closed. I trust their expertise and will definitely use them for all my home improvement jobs. Thanks!

Pricey, but quality of work is good.

It has been a terrible experience. We purchased the deal on June 5 and offered JW three dates that were good for us to have the work done and were told they would get in touch with us to schedule. After all three of our dates passed without contact from JW, WE called THEM in early July to make an appointment. At that time, we were told that that appointment would not actually be a time for the work to be done but, instead it was a time for an estimator to come and estimate the job. Sigh. While making the estimate appointment, I asked if we could go ahead and schedule the appointment to actually have the work done and I was told no. On July 28th the estimator came. He took photos and notes and seemed to understand the job. While he was here he called the scheduler and finally scheduled a date to have the work done....slightly more than three weeks later on August 19th (more than 10 weeks after we had bought the deal!). On August 19th, the JW employee arrived to do the work. When he saw the scope of the job he did not seem to understand the job or the products he would need to purchase to complete the job. He also said that the job would take more time than he had been allotted to do it since he had a doctor's appointment that afternoon. While he went to the store to buy the necessary materials, we called JW to let them know that their employee seemed unprepared for the job. They called and spoke with him and he still did not seem to understand the job. Eventually it was decided that he was not the employee for the job and it would therefore need to be rescheduled...for September 1st. On September 1st (three months after we'd purchased the deal!) the second JW employee arrived and seemed to understand the job. He went to the store for the supplies and got to work. When he was finished, we noticed that the caulk was not the right color. He said it would darken as it dried. It did not. The color should have been almond but, it is nearly white. Upon closer examination, the new caulk has mold in it because he had not adequately cleaned the site after removing the old caulk. The floor of the shower was indeed sealed. However, the grout had NOT been cleaned beforehand. So, now we have dirty grout sealed under new sealant. He left us the products he had used to complete the job and there was no grout cleaner in the supplies! The next morning we tried to contact Brian, a supervisor at JW to tell him that we were not satisfied with the work and to ask how we could rectify the situation. He was unavailable to take our call but, we were assured he would return the call. We tried again later that day and were again told he would return the call. It has been 8 days since those calls and we have not NOT YET received a return phone call. Based on our experience, we DO NOT recommend working with JW for any home improvement work. Their lack of professionalism throughout has made this an awful experience. We gave them many opportunities over a three month period to make good on our agreement. They failed.

They were terrible. They refused to do the work for less than $1000 when the big deal was for a good bit less. They wanted to charge $1000. The deal said they were going to do an hour of deck restoration, repair and reseal it. Our deck id not very large. It's maybe 10x10 at the largest not counting this cut away part. They came out and said, we couldn't possibly do it. It would take three to four men a day and a half. I can't remember exactly but it was going to be $1000, if not more. It was ridiculous; out of the question.

Disastrous and how not to run customer service or a company. As the manager later admitted, they present themselves as Superman in their advertising but can’t deliver. They charged $50 for a consult but over-promised and under-delivered. I had to call another handyman to finish the job. I was billed for more time than promised. Gentleman who came and provided estimate and actual handiman didn’t coordinate, which wasted time. Estimate booking agent didn’t warn about 4 hour minimum before I was charged $50 for estimate. Estimator said job would take 4 hours but would allow for 6. Encouraged me to come up with more things to do in order to reach 4 hours. Took more than 6 hours and didn’t/couldn’t figure out how to finish main project. Materials were left in the foyer with an unhinged door. Handiman hit garage door with truck. Handiman didn’t figure out parking in advance and charged me for looking for parking, moving car, finding quarters. Estimator represented that it was no problem doing the things I asked, or adding things, including going to the hardware store for parts. Handiman clearly wasn’t briefed on what was promised and didn’t get right materials. Got the wrong thing so I went out myself to save time. Still went way over time alotted and billed me. Warned handiman that I needed him to finish before a certain time for a work call. He kept going past the time set, made loud banging and verbal noises, and interrupting me. I sent emails and called the office. Took days for them to get back to me. Then when the manager agreed to cut the bill and send someone to finish the job on a weekend so I didn’t have to take more time off work, they promised their best person would come between 2 and 4 pm Sat. afternoon but: 1) they sent a notification for the wrong time (8-9 am); 2) didn’t show; and 3) didn’t answer their phone or respond to emails or voicemails. Then they sent a supplemental bill. How not to run a company.

Just fine. Very pleased with the work that James and Sung did at our home. They worked steadily all three days and the quality of their work was excellent. I am already planning on using JW again.

The people in the office were very polite and patient when I had to reschedule once. They were very responsive and I never had to wait long to speak to someone. The fellow who came out and gave us a quote for the work was also great. He said we needed a whole new pre-hung door, which was fine with me as long as it closed. The repairman that showed up to do the work, however, showed up without the door and told us we were supposed to have purchased it. There was a bit of a breakdown in communication between him and the office, I guess, so he goes to Home Depot and comes back with a bunch of new tools and just a door (instead of the pre-hung assembly). He told me that he could fix the issue with just the door, so I let him do the work. 5.75 hours and $600 later, I have a brand new door that is still a hassle to close. He offered to stay and tweak it, but we were already at almost 6 hours and I didn't want to pay even more. I mentioned the quality of the repair to the company, but they did not respond. This was an Angie's Deal for $199 for 3 hours of service. Additional labor was $106/hour and the door was $125.

It was not a good experience! The work only requires not more than 4 hours but the guy went out to get materials and did not return until 2.5 hours later while the other guy just sit in the house doing nothing!

The work was completed to my satisfaction, however it appeared they subcontracted the work as the men who showed up to do the work were not wearing JW uniforms and did speak much english. At one point JW called and asked if they men were wearing their uniforms, when told no, the next thing one of the guys phones rang and they went out to their vehicle and put on JW shirts. We were able to explain with a quite a bit of effort (due to language barrier) what needed done and as I mentioned before it was completed satisfactorily, however when I hired off of Angie's list I don't expect to get what APPEARS to have been sub contractors hired for day work. .

GREAT...Willie came, took a look at my list and got immediately to work. He was very thorough and detail oriented and made sure the job was done right. I asked him to stay for a bit of extra time to finish up the door locks because he took the effort to make sure the doors would close/open properly. This is the 3rd time I've used JW Home Improvement and each time I've gotten a different handyman, but all 3 have been terrific. You might pay a bit more perhaps, but the quality of work is great and the guys are super efficient and do not waste any time. I will by hiring them again for future projects.

They arrived exactly on time, were friendly and happy to review the many little jobs I had to be done. Communication was easy, and the minor obstacles that crept up were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Justin did an excellent job. He worked efficiently and precisely. We were pleased with the results. We had bought a coupon off Angie's List for the first service, but plan to re-use JW for other jobs. The hourly costs works out to a little more than $100/hour. For odd jobs, it works most effectively for jobs we cannot do ourselves, and if we buy the materials in advance so that we are not paying for their time to do a Home Depot run for materials.

Pleased with the end results. Job required full 4 hrs to remove 4 old double rods and replace with new style double grommet drapery rods, with middle supports, on windows and balcony 80" to 96" wide.

I was able to be scheduled within a very reasonable period of time. however, I was informed at the time that $50 of my voucher would be towards an estimate of work. Was informed that if I went forth with the work, then that $50 would be applied to my final bill. (wish that had been listed on the voucher). The tech who came out to the house was personable, and very attentive. I appreciated the detail to asking questions. I therefore did ask for estimates for additional jobs, hoping that maybe could use them in the future. However when I received my estimate, I was shocked, honestly. I had received an estimate for over $4000 for work to be done (on one project, the others ran up to another $4000). of this particular project (ie, replacing towel bars in bathrooms, replacing the rotten wood on a window and enclosing a vegetable garden). I emailed them (as directed in the estimate) to talk about the estimate and ask for a review of the charges. It has been 3wks, no response. IN meantime, I have asked my regular handyman to come out, and he is doing it all for $600. Disappointed, as at the very least, I would expect a follow-up email or call. I will be obviously following up with them as I need to seek out reimbursement for my voucher purchased
