The service was fine. They were quick. They were good. They were prompt and thorough. I would use them again.

They were great! Josh Metz showed up as scheduled for an initial visit to give me an estimate for the time and actual expense of my project, including any potential extra labor hours not covered by the initial deal. This information of what was, and wasn't, included was clearly marked in the coupon's "fine print" and verbally by Josh, as well as in the follow-up scope of work he sent me. On the day of the actual work, Rene showed up right on time, got straight to work, ran to Home Depot for necessary materials - note that the supplies run is counted as part of the total labor hours - came back to work hard, and finished the job in a total of 4 hours. He showed me the Home Depot receipt so I knew exactly what he bought, and he left me the remaining can of paint. The window sill looks brand new, plus Rene caulked around the outside as well as inside of the window so it should avoid future leaks & rot. I'm very happy with the result!

Overall I think the work went very smoothly. Our contact at the company was Sam and he was helpful and courteous. The contractors who came to the house (Rene, Pedro and Wilder) were prompt and did a nice job.

Saw the coupon for handyman service, 6 hours for $400, and thought this would be perfect for completing odd jobs that may or may not take the entire 6 hours. Called to make sure the work was within the terms of the coupon, and got a long lecture about how JW handles its coupons and how many "other coupons" they also have available outside of Angies List. Ya' think Angies List might have a problem with this? They should! According to JW, you don't need that Angies List deal at all! No, you need to pay JW $50 for an estimator to give you a price for the work, then you can buy the Angies' List coupon or their own "coupon" (!) depending on that estimate. As another reviewer said recently, the offer on Angies List is nothing more than an attractive "come on" to keep JW's (paid) estimators busy and allow JW to bid on your work. It's misleading and dishonest! Who needs this?

Walk through was fine, but they never followed up or gave an estimate.

Went very well. Worker was very efficient, polite, and detail oriented. Was able to get everything on my punchlist completed within the required time.

It was an attractive offer to induce the buyer to get an estimate to have an unreasonably high estimate for the work.

The job was done professionally. However, we were confused by the way hours counted, and was surprised with the overhead charge.

JW Home Improvement is head and shoulders above other contractors.

The estimate for the major work was a bit out of my range, but I was extremely happy with the handyman service we received today. Two men split the 4 hours and both were courteous, very competent, professional, and hard working. I did not get the first guy's name, but the second guy was named Justin and they were both great. I would certainly do business with this company again.

When they came to my house, they gave me a price, but they didn't explain it too clearly to me, and then they had the nerve to try and charge me for more than the quote. If you hire them to do work, make sure you get all the details before they start working. The workmanship was fabulous, wonderful and terrific. The people they sent out did a wonderful job, it was perfect. I was just upset with the financial aspect of the project. I don't like being nickle and dimed. Be careful of their front office.

I purchased a deal on Angie's list for three hours of caulk and grout restoration. The estimator quickly responded and gave me an estimate. I scheduled the work. The handyman showed up on time, assessed the tile, purchased the supplies and got right to work. Overall, it took him about 4.5 hours to complete the job. We are very happy with the work performed and would use them again.

Rene was very meticulous and professional. Would definitely have him back. Sam did great scheduling and estimating. Pleased with the whole engagement.

It turned out very well. There was additional charges because there was some other stuff that they did as we agreed on some other work for them to do. Workmanship was excellent. They are little costly. They were very responsive, very professional, timely. I would use them again and I have used them in the past as well.

JW Home Improvement had an estimator at my home the following day. They had two guys who started on fixing the house two days later, which was amazing. CJ and Francisco did a great job - they had to do demolition, build a supporting wall, reframe the entire wall, put up drywall, and prime. (I was just starting to remodel the room, which is how I found the damage in the first place, so I didn't have them pain.) The work was done incredibly fast - they beat the estimate. The guys were great, friendly, and did a wonderful job. Ed gave us a tremendous customer service when I had a couple of questions afterwards. I would definitely use JW Home Improvement again (although I really hope that next time it will be to do something more pleasant than fixing termite damage).

I contacted JW Home Improvement for an estimate regarding "anticipated" work. I had developed a leak from the upstairs bathroom to the kitchen below on the first floor. I had contacted a different plumber (not knowing that JW Home Improvement also did plumbing) to diagnose the leak. I was certain that to diagnose the leak, the plumber would need to cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling, which then would need to be repaired separately. With Thanksgiving the following week and guests coming over, I thought I'd be proactive and schedule JW Home Improvement to repair my ceiling before the plumber even came to my house and performed any work. Well, the plumber was able to diagnose the cause of the leak without having to cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling. I had to call and cancel the job with JW Home Improvement. I was so impressed, however, the two times I called JW Home Improvement--the first time to schedule the estimate/work when I talked to Josh and the second time when I called to cancel the estimate/work and talked to Sam--that I will definitely be calling them back after the Thanksgiving holiday to obtain an estimate for other needed work in my house. Both Josh and Sam were extremely professional, polite, knowledgeable, and efficient. When I called the first time and spoke to Josh and told him my tale of woe about how I wasn't quite sure I'd need work done, but was 95% certain and wanted to be proactive, he knew immediately what I was talking about and how I was feeling with guests coming over for Thanksgiving. He scheduled an immediate appointment for me that would allow for the ceiling to be fixed in time. When I called to cancel, Sam was similarly understanding about why I needed to cancel. Again, I will be contacting them after the holiday for other needed work in my house.

I'm just going to start from the beginning to chronicle how unprofessional this company was at every step of the way. There is a different "rep" each and every time you call them (it is a call center), absolutely zero consistency, follow-up, and accountability. I first called JW in early Fall because of their good reviews on Angie's List, and because they were purportedly running specials. 1.) I initially needed some cosmetic work done at the house. I was told that we are required to pay $50 just for a price assessment, and they will not do a job without a price/cost assessment. Fine. I decided to risk it since they had such high reviews. 2.) They sent Josh over, except he did not show up for his appt. My boyfriend had taken the day off work just to be there, because I was overseas for a family emergency at the time. Their office line was not running during the weekend. I ended up having to call back over and over and re-arrange Josh to come back from overseas. This was JUST for the price estimate. 3.) We decide not to hire JW for the cosmetic work because the price was so high ($1000 for mostly sanding and painting). However, I still had $50 to account that is supposed to be able to be applied to any job. A couple weeks later, my toilet actually broke, and water was leaking everywhere. We tried to call JW again and offer to pay whatever the hourly rate was to install a new toilet (which we even picked up ourselves), minus the $50 I had on my account. We were told by another rep that we were required to pay ANOTHER $50 estimate fee before we could hire them since it is a "different job" from our first quote. We hired another plumber. 4) I called back a few weeks later to once again hire them to be able to use my $50 credit. I just needed simple work like gutter cleaning, gutter guard installation, and I offered to just pay the full, hourly rate for one guy, minus the $50. That still isn't allowed. There's a $190 minimum required AND another fee estimate appt. 5) One person, Matt, was apologetic at this point after the toilet mishap, and offered to schedule a manager to come over to talk to me during my fee estimate. He also offered to "waive" this mandatory fee. 6) Two days later, someone else (Sam) called, and rescheduled my fee estimate to the next week because the manager "couldn't be available." I ended up getting the same person who didn't show up the first time, Josh. So I never got to speak to a manager about all my customer service issues. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor by waiving the fee. 7) Finally get this other fee estimate for gutter cleaning. Its the same result I was told on the phone- I could sign up for the "no job too small package" for $190 and apply my $50 there. 8). I was scheduled by another person, Bryce, for 1pm on a Saturday in November. The tech did not show up until after 3:30pm. Each time I called, I was told he was only 10min away. 9). After calling and calling various people, I was told by one person Sam, that I was misinformed (they actually book their appts in 3hr blocks), and then given an apology by another, Matt again. I don't care what the time block is- I care about not having my time wasted by being repeatedly misinformed. 10.) I was mailed some "gift cards" for the absolutely horrific customer service I endured. I got some cards that give $106 off, but you have to spend $424 minimum. And they expired in Dec. 31, which gave me approx. a month to use them. And they cannot be combined with any other deal-- such as purchasing a certain number of man hours on Angie's List. In other words, the conciliatory 'gift card' is absolutely useless to me, unless I want to hire JW for a major project (which I don't trust them to do at this point). Bottom line-- I am not giving this company any more money. I am not going to hire them for a $424+ job that comes with all these rules and limits, just to be able to use this gift card. It's clear that this company only cares about their bottom line instead of actual service. That is not something you want to risk, when it comes to your home.

The service was good and the technician was good to work with.

In all cases, they've come in at or below their estimated cost. I would recommend them.

This was fine and I was happy with the whole outcome. Their pricing was very high. I told them this was a lot higher than I thought and they were very accommodating. They did a good job.

JW was one of the few contractors that I was able to get a hold of or could do the job. Jesse came out and assessed the portico as well as other items around the house that needed attention. Chris was the handyman assigned to the job and he was excellent. He was on time and courteous. After quickly assessing the problem, he left for around 45 minutes to get parts. When he came back he went straight to work. He was very conscious to not try to disturb us unless he really needed something. The repair looks great and is holding up well. We're satisfied with our experience and would definitely use JW (and Chris) again.

Great, they were very punctual and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. The job took 2 days to complete just as they said. They used wood with a plastic coating on the porch that will last longer & we won't ever need to paint. They patched holes on the side of the house with bondo so the woodpeckers can't open them back up again.
