This was an absolute nightmare. When the two gentlemen arrived to do the work, there did not have the windows (even after telling me they were in the van); they left for 2 hours to "pick up materials" and when they came back, they said they could not find the windows. When they tried to install the new screen door, they drilled a hole in the door on the wrong side (for the handle) and then were not able to properly install the new door. At this point, I called the office and they removed the two individuals from my property. They sent someone to try and fix the patio door but ended up having to rehang the old door which required them to put new holes in the frame of my back porch and the door still does not work. After assuring me they would take care of this immediately, they have since sent me a bill for $1100 for ruining my back porch and doing absolutely no work. I have called the office three times and been assured that my issue is being given top priority but no one will actually call me back to tell me what they are going to do to fix the door they ruined. I have just called for the third time (it is now 2 weeks after the workman were at my house) and still no answers on how they are going to make this right for me. I will never ever use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone.

James and Sung were great. They arrive on time and get right to work. They are very thorough, pleasant and do their best to ensure high customer satisfaction. Communication was excellent, they kept me advised at all stages of the work. They were cooperative with other workers we had on site. Overall very good, highly recommended. I'd hire them again.

Cesar arrived at 7 AM and was done before noon. He was polite and the work was thorough. Will use them again for other work.

The contractor showed up early and once I showed him the work to be done, began the repairs. I provided most supplies and he purchased the rest from Lowes. He was able to repair all of the damaged windows in the block of time allotted by the Angie's List Big Deal. I was happy with the work done and would use them again.

They did a fraction of the work, overcharged, and did not complete the work for which we paid

It went brilliantly -- Thomas arrived on time, even a bit early, and set to work getting all of my projects completed with professional precision. He knows what he is doing and it does not matter what it is, he knows how to make it right. I am so happy to have these projects done that I have postponed for years. JW checked in with me to make sure all was going well, and kept me informed by e-mail right up to the appointment time. I was never concerned about the scheduling and was always assured they had my best interests at heart when it came to the job. I will be arranging another day with JW and will absolutely request Thomas when his schedule permits. Happy customer!

They wanted to charge $3000 above the Angiesl list coupon. Another contractor did the work for $480.

The service people were courteous and professional, the deck is beautiful.

I was truly blown away at the superior level of service! James and Sung arrived exactly on time and immediately got to work. Their level of craftsmanship and attention to detail was far above average. In addition, they were both a pleasure to deal with -- polite, tidy, and just genuinely nice gentlemen. When they had finished, I was astounded at the difference their hard work had made on my decks. I would gladly welcome Sung and James back for any future needs. I should also mention that the company's estimator, Josh Metz, also did an excellent job of explaining how the job would be done, and it was exactly as he described. JW Home Improvment wins my loyalty.

Carpenter Glen Spelling was assigned to the case. He was able to restore these doors using Bondo putty to replace all of the rotted areas. There was significant damage to repair and the doors came back looking like new. There is no difference between the original painted wood and the repaired parts and this should last a good while. Glen was interested in doing a spectacular job and that is what I got. He is AMAZING! I also had a chance to meet owner Jesse and others on the staff and there is no question this company is dedicated to customer delight. I can't recommend them enough.

Had them put on gutter covers 2 years ago. Unfortunately the gutter covers were not installed correctly.

I've had a problem with water damage in one area of the ceiling. I had two roofers look at the roof and they said they couldn't see a problem, but it's an older roof, so I should probably get a new roof or coat the whole thing with something used on flat roofs. I couldn't see getting a new roof when there's was apparently a leak in only one small area, so I had JW look at it, thinking they could spray the problem area with a product made for problem areas. It turns out that that it wasn't a roof problem. It was a tuckpoint problem with my brick. They fixed the mortar and guaranteed the work. Overall, they're not cheap, but they still saved me money compared to getting roof work done that I didn't need.

A JW estimator, Pedro, came out in mid-July to give us an estimate for the two projects. He was a good man to talk with as he answered questions we had at that time. He gave us a good estimate as to the amount of time the work would take and the cost involved. We set up an appointment for their earliest opening, Aug. 15. The company called us on Aug. 4 and said they had an opening for projects on Aug. 5 and asked if we would be interested in taking the earlier date. We readily agreed, and on Aug. 5, Ever and Rocky came to the house at 8AM to take a look at what was involved in the projects and to get materials needed. The repair work around the air conditioner base took the longest time to perform. It involved the removal of 4" x4" pressure treated wood pieces that had begun to rot and the cutting and mounting of the new pieces to reform the walls of the base. Both worked on this project to get it done quickly because the possibility of rain was forecast. The finished project was great. The design they gave it was an improvement on what had been there previously. All materials to be disposed of were taken care of and the work sight was cleaned up. Next they moved onto installing the downspout. Its placement copied the downspout at the other side of the front porch giving a balanced look to the house. We are very pleased with the finished product. The men were friendly to talk to, answered our questions, and asked us about specifics that we wanted in each area. Again, we have been very satisfied with the quality of their work and will call upon them again when needed.

Everything went very well. The gentleman, Janaka, was polite and efficient. The estimate on how much time it would take was very generous and the work was done in almost half the time. Luckily I had some extra things to do to fill the leftover time.

JW's company did the job right; they did it efficiently, and we'll probably hire them for future jobs. Sung and James were extremely professional and communicative. I was so shocked by how nice the deck looked after it had been power-washed and sanded that I emailed the company directly about James's great work. On the second day, they arrived early (a good thing in my book) which allowed me to get to work on time. They called in the afternoon to let me know they were finished and explained that we shouldn't walk on the deck for a couple of days. As for ratings, we gave JW a "B" for price. We purchased a "deal" on Angie's list that amounted to only a small discount in the cost of labor, it was something like 4 hours of labor for x dollars. What wasn't clear at the time was that the job we needed done would take approximately 12 hours (half a day for power washing and a full day for sealing the deck). Fortunately, the gentleman who came out to give us an estimate (after the deal was already purchased) was clear about that up front. We had a little bit of sticker shock at the final price considering the size of our deck but other quotes did not include sanding our deck as well. That said, James and Sung were super and I would hire them again.

Thomas Matamoros did a great job. The existing caulking was over 15 years old. The finished caulking was seamless and neat, and the bathroom looks like brand new. Thomas completed the job in just over 3 hours. The work area was fully cleaned up.

Terrific. Our bathrooms looked TONS better when it was finished.

Everything went well. The mirrors were heavy and had to be hung on plaster walls.

We had two different jobs scheduled with JW Handyman, one for 6 hours and one for 3 hours: 1) Oscar arrived right on time and did a fantastic job installing a wood floor in our attic to make it usable storage space. He finished with 30 mins to spare. We were so pleased with his work (and how easy he was to work with) that we ended up extending for an additional hour to install a baby gate (which was a little bit of a tricky job because of how the railing is on our staircase). He was even great with my one year old son, who was very fascinated and wanted to watch him. The estimator also did a great job, letting us know the perfect amount of materials we needed for the job. 2) Chris arrived right on time to install our medicine cabinets and hang a coat rack. He worked very efficiently and we even had some time to do a couple of extra things that we didn't think we would have time for (securing TV and furniture to the wall for babyproofing). The estimator also did a great job, letting us know what materials we needed for the job. We would absolutely work with this company again!

I used an Angie's list deal for this. I believe it was 3 hours for $150 dollars. I had a great experience with the handyman, but not an outstanding experience with the estimator's role and the home office. My concerns about the estimator and the home office were not personal. They seemed like nice people, but there was just some confusion over my Angie's List purchase and a "car dealership" feel to being upsold that I didn't like and haven't experienced before with such a highly rated Angie's List purchase. JW required a 2 step process after purchase. 1) An estimator came out to the house to look at the projects and tell me how much time it would take. He looked at all of my projects and told me it would take a day and a half - far more than the 3 hours I purchased. Extra time was something like $110 per hour. As you can imagine, I was feeling up-sold. My $150 project was now going to run me over $1,000 apparently if I wanted it all done based on their estimate. I had used other handymen services before purchased on an hourly basis and not experienced the upsell efforts. After I said I just want the 3 hours, the estimator told me that was fine but that the 3 hours would likely only allow for the handyman to replace my ceiling fan - my #1 priority. That seemed like a stretch to me. I couldn't imagine that taking more than an hour. The estimator did say he wanted to under-promise and over-deliver. I can understand that. But, when he left, I felt not good about my purchase, and that I was just being up-sold. Then, a week or so later the handyman came out. He was great. He worked hard and got a LOT accomplished in the 3 hours. To finish my whole list would have likely taken 4-5 hours, not a day and a half. I thought the handyman was outstanding. Loved the handyman, but did not like the process with the estimator. The home office also seemed a bit misaligned - not knowing what Angie's List deal I had and telling me I needed a 4 hour minimum at first, even though my deal was for 3. Ultimately, it all worked out with the home office, the estimator and the handyman. But, I would have felt a lot better throughout the process having just experienced the handyman, who was great. Not sure if I would use them again. I don't want to go through the estimator experience again. Not only were there issues, but that was just extra time being off work as well.

Beware, the work quality was fine but the process inflexible, unfriendly and slow. I purchased the Angies List Deal for 3 hours of caulking. I tried for 3 weeks to reach JW but never reached anyone on the phone nor got a call back. Had to have Angies List contact them for me and then they called me. When I finally spoke to them and requested a date for service, they informed me that I needed to have an estimator come out first. There was a 2-week wait for an estimator. I pleaded for them to just sent someone to do the work and told them that I had already purchased the supplies. I really could not afford staying home from work on 2 separate days to have a small job completed. They would not budge. I waited two weeks and then stayed home from work to meet an estimator. Estimator told me that the caulking would take 3-4 hours and that I must provide a credit card now for any work above the prepaid 3 hours which would bill at $106/hr. I objected as I knew this was under a 3 hour job and I just wanted my 3 hours of work. He relented and said that the tech would stop at 3 hours regardless of work complete. Then he took another 20 minute trying to reach someone back at the office who could schedule the work. Finally got the work scheduled for another 2 weeks later. The work is finally scheduled for 7 weeks after when I initially tried to contact them. The tech did show right on time and did the work well. I will note that the work was completed in 2.25 hours -- shy of the 3-4 hours estimate and well within the 3 hour limit. So they seem to have fine technicians if you have the time to wait for the work and don't mind the cumbersome process.

Ever from JW Home came and immediately saw I had purchased the wrong supplies and went to Home Depot. I had purchased the 6 hour handyman service for $402.00. Once he returned, Ever got started on the ceiling after draping the room. He worked straight through lunch only taking a 15 minute break. Other jobs he did included glueing the back panel of a slide in slide out drawer, putting up a shelf in a bathroom, and cleaning a large shower fan. Everything he did turned out perfect. The drywall and painting look brand new. I can't tell anything ever happened to the ceiling. I would definitely use Ever again. He worked hard and did an excellent job. The job ran over three hours so the final cost will be around $750.

The craftsmen, Janaka and Roque arrived early and completed evaluation of work and determined required supplies and materials. Roque started demo and Janaka obtained the materials needed, Word was steady and precise through completion with total clean-up of the site once work was finished. As an architect, I greatly appreciate the attention to detail and the craftsmanship of Janaka and Roque and the friendliness and prompt response of the staff at J W Home Improvement, GOOD WORK and thank you.

Manuel Hidalgo was the best workman I've ever had.
