I requested a free estimate for a new heat pump system on Lowes.com, and they sent a team from Accel. They were incredibly rude. They looked around my modest one-bedroom condo for 30 seconds and then said "we don't do this kind of work. it's light commercial" and left. My condo is in a three-story building and the condenser units go on the roof. It may not be the easiest job in the world, but I got quotes from several other companies including Sears and Home Depot. I took the afternoon off of work to be here for the estimate and am really angry that I wasted my time.

When I was in Home Depot, I signed up for a free estimate. I had 3 quotes already, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get another. Accel was the designated contractor for local Home Depots. Adam, the Accel sales rep, contacted me promptly, and he came to my house the next day (Sunday) to provide a free estimate. He gave me a great price on Trane high-efficiency furnace, AC condenser, and coil, Nest thermostat, and a water heater. This included the installation and removal of the old equipment. As upgrading to high-efficiency units from older conventional units requires proper venting (i.e. may require chimney liners or drilling holes in wall for new exhaust pipes), Adam arranged for one of the contractors who do the installations to come by the house so I would know exactly what is and is not possible with my house. This was helpful. After some additional research into the product specifications of the Trane equipment and a comparison of equipment offered in competitors' bids, I decided to go with Accel. Trane was reputable company, and the models in the bid were on the high end of the product range. Accel answered all the detailed questions that I had, and their price was too good to pass up, especially with the rebates from Home Depot. Installation was done well too. The 3 man team led by Scott showed up on time and did a great job installing all of the equipment. Since I was there during the installation, I was consulted when there were options available. They even replaced some of the old duct work, enforced ties to secure hanging pipes, and did a few extra things that I requested. The Nest thermostat needed an extra wire to control the second stage heat as my existing wire was short one wire. I had to confirm this by calling technical support at Nest. Running a new line through the walls required a lot of extra time, but they were committed to get it done right. We had to cut several holes into the walls to find a path for the new wire, but I think it was worth doing. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to take advantage of all the features offered by the new high-efficiency furnace. They did pick up after the job was completed, but I did have to do some minor clean-up on my own...not a big deal. They went the extra mile to assure that the system was installed well, which is what mattered the most. Bottom line: Great price, quality work, and friendly team. I would recommend Accel to my friends.

I went to Home Depot's web page knowing that they partner with installers, and in this case, I needed my hot water heater replaced. I was matched with this service provider, so keep in mind that my review is only about their price. Because I am going to put a tankless water heater in a couple of years, I needed only the least expensive water heater as a stop gap, until then. The cost of the water heater was $400, though this company's installer quoted me $903 additional for the service. He said that includes all the fees for inspection etc., yet I said one exists already, and this is to replace a defective unit. He couldn't even break down the price so I knew how the money was being broken down., Picking up the water heater, disposing of the defective one, and labor doesn't equate to $903, so I giving them this lousy mark. Again, this is based only on the price they quoted me, and it could be a way of saying that they were not interested in doing the work

They replaced my faulty AC system and older gas furnace serving the basement and 1st level. Price was competitive for high efficiency furnace and dual stage AC compressor. Work was started and completed as promised. They took care to cover traffic areas in the home with plastic and left my home and yard spotless. I'd do business with them again.

The unit is for my basement apartment, into which a couple had just moved on September 3. It was in he 90s and all they had were two fans that I had given them. I had had someone other than Accel work on the unit before they moved in. When this person [not on Angieslist] was done [as it tirmed out for he took off], the unit, which had been working, was no longer working. I called Accel; I was going to get a whole new unit. It is an old unit and I didn't know what else to do. Justin came out. He looked at it. He immediately, and I mean immediately, saw the problem and fixed it. Something had not been connected; he connected it and did a few other things, including cleaning it, repairing the filter, and re-stringing the tube that collects mositure, which had been incorrectly attached in places. He told me: "you need a new unit because this one is very old but you don't need one today. You don't have to make a hurried decision. When you're ready, call us." Justin was timely, so much so I made it to work timely, professional, quick to spot the problem and quick to fix it, and his courtesy cannot be overstated. I will definitely use Accel to replace the old unit, before it breathes its last, and to service the separate unit for the main house.

We Initially contacted Accel 11/20/12, because they had been selected by Home Depot to deliver and install the gas water heater we purchased at Home Depot.. Accel arrived as promised the next day. The heater they brought was dented, but we accepted it because they assured us the damage was only cosmetic. The installation went smoothly, and they were polite and tidy. More than two weeks later (12/06/13), Accel printed a permit and subsequently mailed it to us. The permit states that "This permit must be on the job both at the time of installation and the inspection." It also says "It shall be the Master Plumber's/ Gasfitter's responsiblity, not the homeowner's, to ensure that work is inspected within 5 days of installation, per Code." It was accompanied by an undated letter from Accel thanking us for scheduling the inspection in a timely manner. We had no leaks, but the new heater did not perform as well as our old unit, despite having the same-sized tank and being set at the same temperature. The water did not get as warm, we ran out of warm water more quckly, and the water pressure was lower than with the old unit.. We contacted the manufactorer, and then Home Depot, and ultimately obtained a new heater from Accel. It was installed on 01/07/13. At the 2nd installation, we insisted that Accel change the location of the expansion tank to match the manufactorer's instructions and our information about the Code. We had the WSSC inspection 01/09/13. The inspector said that he would not have approved the work if the expansion tank had been left as originally installed by Accel. He also told us that he was hesitant to approve the metal exhaust collar installed by Accel; as it should have been larger, but would let it pass because of the height of our house. We have been satisfied with the operation of the 2nd heater.

Chris was extremely knowledgeable and trained. I just felt that he was very meticulous. He knew what he was talking about. He was very accommodating to the customer.

Job went very well. Professional and friendly crew.

There estimate was higher than the others I got but they showed me expenses that we would have that the other companies had not accounted for. There are some issues with getting in touch with people/getting folks to show up but the owner was fantastic about making up for these things. The system works well and fits in our teeny tiny space.
