Se above. I Recommend JAMMA highly. Very Personable as well. We alreally made another appointment with them to replace our attic fan! Great FAMILY owned and operated business and they provide that kind of great service you find from these businesses. They are not just in it for themselves.
Description of Work: JAMA saved the weekend of the 4th of July for our family. Our AC unit was producing ziltch onthe cold air side & it was 85 degrees in the house on Friday July 1st in the P.M. We called the company who installed the unit and they came out, but said we needed a new capacitor. Further they had no spares, and would not be able to obtain one until Tuesday, July 5th. Wow, the temps were projected to raise to the 90's through July 4th....So I hit Angies List and came upon JAMMA. I called them Saturday am, at 9:15, and they had a truck here 1 hour later!! Turned out IT wasn't the capacator at all. They got the unit up and running & suggested we clean the coils (in & out). So we did. Saved by the List & JAMMA!

Now for the more prosy version... We'd been without effective air conditioning (or any air conditioning) since the recent warm temperatures started (around 25/26 May 2011). However, as we were away for the Memorial Day weekend, we did not contact any repair companies. The Monday we returned was brutally hot. On Tuesday morning, I made a list of ten Angie's List rated companies that were both nearby and had received a rating of A. I began calling companies around 8:00 AM. The first seven companies informed me that they'd be happy to send someone out in three weeks. JAMA was number eight on the list, and I called them around 10:00 AM. When I called, Jose, the owner answered. He listened to my story (I thought I just needed a cleaning and a compressor charging), and simply asked if having someone there at 7:00 AM the next morning would be acceptable. After the previous seven calls I was so stunned, that I had to ask "you mean seven AM TOMORROW?" At 6:51 the next morning, Jose's brother, Walter, arrived. He inspected the system, charged it, and cleaned my evaporator. He was thorough, professional and rapid. He was also friendly and polite. He pointed out the large fluctuations in pressure, and indicated that this was caused by erratic compressor performance, and that this meant that the compressor would cool the house, but not especially quickly. He also pointed out that this was the sign of a compressor on its last legs. (Note that the unit was about 20 years old.) When I asked how long it would last, he noted that it could very well last the summer, but might not. I asked about replacement costs, and he quoted me a price - but also pointed out that there were savings if the furnace was replaced at the same time - both in terms of labor costs and overall system efficiency which would translate to lower energy bills. After he left, I did some research, made some calls, and confirmed what Walter had told me. I called Jose around noon or 1:00 PM and told him that we wanted to replace the entire system. He told me that the work would be done either the next day or the day after, and that he'd call me back as soon as he could confirm availability of the system components. He called me back a couple of hours later and told me that his crew would be out between 7:00 and 8:00 AM the next morning. True to Jose's word, Walter and his apprentice Miguel showed up at 7:55 AM. They were polite, professional, quick, and very obviously knew their business. The removal, replacement and installation went without a hitch. This morning, Walter called me to check on me and the unit, and to provide me the complete warranty information. I couldn't have asked for a better HVAC experience.
Description of Work: On June 1, JAMA personnel came out to clean and charge my air conditioning unit, as it had been acting erratically the previous summer and wasn't working this summer. The cleaning was done, and the compressor charged. I was shown the wide fluctuations in system pressure on the gauge, and it was indicated that the system might last all summer, or it might last a week - but, for my 20 year old system, the time was near. Let me emphasize that no "hard sell" was applied. I asked all the questions and received answers with which I was happy. Later in the day, the blower motor began to behave erratically. After some discussion, we decided to replace the entire HVAC system - both the 40 year old furnace and the 20 year old air conditioner. phoned JAMA, and was informed that they could replace the system on the next day, and that they would send someone out later that afternoon to jump the blower so that at least we'd have some relief from the heat that night. True to their word, the JAMA personnel came in the late afternoon (at no additional charge) and jumped the blower. They returned at 8:00 AM the next morning (June 2, 2011). By 9:15 AM the old components had been removed and the new components were in place. By 3:00 PM, the entire system had been connected electrically, and was being tested. The new components included a 2.5 ton Carrier external air conditioning unit with a mated N-frame coil as well as an 80,000 BTU/hr gas furnace unit and some custom insulated ductwork. Installation and testing were complete by 4:00 PM. One more note - at around 8:00 PM, I noticed that the house wasn't cooling. Upon inspection, it turned out that BOTH the air conditioner and furnace were running simultaneously. When I called JAMA, instead of getting voicemail, I got a human, who, instead of telling me to shut the system down, told me that he'd be over in 30 minutes. Turns out the problem was a case of "operator error" (i.e., me). I had, when I was looking at the thermostat earlier in the day, mashed some wires together, triggering a short. The fix was made in less than 20 minutes, and I was not charged for the service, even though it was my error. I was called the next morning to confirm that all was well and to ensure that I had all the warranty information. Prompt, efficient, reasonably priced service. I'm a JAMA fan!

The flapper was missing on the exterior vent for my oven. I called several companies and was referred to JAMA as they would actually do the installation of the duct/vent. I called on Monday 26 Jan 09 to describe the problem at 3p and they said although they could not make it out that afternoon, they would be at my house between 8:00-8:30 am on Tuesday. It began to snow at 7:15am Tuesday morning and I figured they would not be able to do the work due to the weather. Much to my surprise Jorge and his assistant arrived at 8:00am and quickly began working on the problem. The job was more difficult than anticipated but after an hour they completed the job and cleaned up the all the scraps and screws. I was very pleased with their work and will surely call them again for any HVAC needs.
Description of Work: They replaced the 6inch wall duct/flapper/protective cover, secured it to the brick with mason screws, caulked around the duct and placed a hearty bird screen over the duct.
