Arrived on time with smiles. Put down dropcloth and wore booties. Very respectful of our house. Repair was beautiful and on time and on budget. Mike, Don, and Oswaldo (sp? sorry!) are all professionals who know exactly what they are doing. Thanks, Angie!

I bought a coupon for bathroom design consultation with 3-d drawings for $100. I contacted Mr. Wiggs on a weekend and he responded to my call quickly and he came over to my house the same day to see the bathroom and discuss ideas. Due to the structure of my bathroom and the nature of what I wanted to achieve with the remodel he said he would provide me with 2 bathroom design options. I only got one and it was 2-d. (of note: during the consultation he kept mentioning how he was getting no money from the deal and how the money I paid all went to angie's...not sure why he stressed that to me multiple times as if he was doing me a favor by providing the consultation I had paid for) I emailed him multiple times for the other design and for the 3-d design but never got it. We finally set up a follow-up meeting but he didn't show up and didn't call to explain why. We had also discussed that he would provide me with a quote for the work but he didn't provide that either. I'm very disappointed.

Very True. I did offer two different designs, Memories are not what they should be, We came to the conclusion that option 2 was not possible because of the configuration of the space. its possible that I may have missed the appointment but a phone call would hav corrected that. I send the 2D plans because that could be readily reviewed. The 3D was supposed to be on sight. Im sending th plans again. Hope we can work it out.

The provider arrived a little late. I took him to the basement to show him what needed to be done. He installed two track lights to boxes that was already installed. He also installed a wall mounted scounce and a ceiling light in the basement bathroom. The only complaint that I have is that his time managemenet skills were not well utilized so he went over the time mandated by the offer.

I would like to say first, I have no knowledge of this project; second, of the electrician was late I would have known about this that day because I wake a earnest effort to talk to every customer before and after the project; thirdly, the coupon is for up to two hours of electrical. There is nothing written anywhere that the job would be completed within that time. We try our best to get as much done as possible on each job we do. To conclude, I make sure that every customer know that if the time allotted is exceeded, we will charge an hourly rate. If my electrician went over the time this customer would have paid more than $150.00. Lastly, I searched all my emails and I have no record of this customer. Currently this customer is being researched 5 months after the job to see if in fact this review is aimed at the right company.

When setting up appointment he told me to go to his website. His website wasn't working. I then contacted him and he was then able to provide me with a website and accurate contact information. I then sent him the dimensions of my bathroom, which he requested. I then was able to explain the work I needed done. I tried to contact him to set-up appointment and he never contacted me back.

Called Michael Wiggs to remove the cabinet on emergency basis. Despite great busy-ness, he arrived promptly , diagnosed the source of the problem, and did the job quickly. He also explained alternatives for possible repair if the manufacturer did not agree to replace the cabinet. We agreed to call him to do the repair and replacement of the defective cabinet, or to install the new cabinet if the reluctant manufacturer sent one. Very good arrangement. Mr. Wiggs was friendly and clearly knew what he was doing. We were greatly relieved.

I contacted Michael to schedule an interior paint job for a 1000 sq ft house. He was unable to perform the job because my requested time interfered with one of his scheduled projects. Michael was gracious enough to provide a reference to the same work for the same price. He went above and beyond to ensure I found someone who could do the work. The house turned out great and was completed in 8 hours.

I called Mike on Monday leaving a message and he promptly called me back that afternoon and was at my home on Tuesday evening. I have a downstairs bedroom where water was seeping in from another room behind it which has a shower and our air unit/condenser. I was not sure what was causing the problem but we knew the carpet was getting wet and thought this would be a serious problem that would involve drywall, carpet and other replacements to correct. At first I thought they would need to cut out the wall to see where the water was coming from but Mike explained that they had a new non-invasive method which uses an infra-red camera to locate moisture in the walls and can see where the water is coming from without tearing out the wall. This method was a little pricey (which is the only reason I gave a C on price) but I felt it was the way to go so that my mom wouldn't be put out of her room for multiple days. Mike came and found out the problem which is primarily due to humidity and condensation. He took the time to answer all the questions my husband and I had and gave us some instructions on how to correct the problem. He even said if the problem persisted after trying the dehumidifers, he would come back free of charge and find out what was still causing the issue. Mike was friendly, funny but also very knowledgeable. I would use him again for other home projects.

Fletcher arrived on time and went straight to work in the basement removing old light fixtures and replacing with new ones. He was focused and completed the basement lighting rather quickly considering he had to remove old florescent lighting fixtures x 3. and then install 3 new florescent fixtures plus 2 ceiling fixtures. He also replaced a light fixture on the deck and repaired a wall receptacle. He was knowledgeable and courteous while working in my home. Fletcher even offered to vacuum the basement floor where some particles from the ceiling had fallen while taking the light fixtures out. Prior to Fletcher going out to do the work I had a conversation with Mike who owns the company. He was very accommodating with my scheduling needs. Overall it was a very good experience and I highly recommend this company.

In summary, it went horribly. The owner of the company never showed up to do the initial estimate and wound up fussing at me about why he never showed up. It was as if he was doing me a favor to show up and do what I was going to pay him to do. I made an appointment with the owner to come to my home on June 7th at 4pm. I left work early so that I could accommodate the time that he wanted to meet me, as he was returning from traveling. At about 4:15pm, I called him and said that he was running late and had gotten back into town later than he thought. I asked when he could come, and he said sometime before 7pm because he had to pick up his dog. This large time window was not a problem for me, since my sister would be at the house to let him in. At around 7:30pm, the owner sent me a text to say that he wouldn't be able to make it on the 7th at all because he was still trying to get his dog out of the kennel. So, we scheduled for him to come by at 10:30am the following morning, on June 8th. At 10:45am on June 8th, when he still had not shown up or called, I called him again. He noted that his GPS had given him incorrect directions, and that he'd be at my house by 11:00am. I had other plans for the day, and given the previous day's persistent delays, I told him that I could not wait. I also told him that I was very disappointed that he didn't bother to call to tell me that he would be 30 minutes late, and that if he was lost, he could have called me to ask for directions. My neighborhood is a relatively new development, but his business very near my neighborhood and I can't see how he got lost in the first place (let alone the type of lost that would take him 30 minutes out of the way). Once I said this, he began to fuss at me about how he normally schedules appointments in 2 hour windows and this is why he never agrees to meet at a certain time. That's all well and good, but twice with me he scheduled a time, twice he did not call to say that he was late, and twice he failed to show up for our scheduled appointment. When he did schedule a 3 hour window (on June 7th when I nicely allowed him to show up any time between 4pm and 7pm, after he didn't show up at 4pm), he still could not make it within that 3 hour window. Perhaps it was our age difference that led him to think that he could yell at me when he was so clearly in the wrong, but I had to inform him that his unprofessional behavior is no way to do business and that he would not be doing business with me. Also, be wary of his Angie's List coupons and verify that the coupons can be used towards the specific work you want to have done before purchasing them. **UPDATE** - - In response to the provider's unprofessional and slanderous response, hopefully this is a lesson for you to be more honest and upfront and to not make commitments that you cannot keep. Let this also be a lesson that age does not equate maturity, and name calling and being insulting in an online a public forum ought to be beneath you, but you just gave another example of your unprofessional behavior. You don't need to insult me because you agree, and you admit, that you did not show up when you said you would. I never yelled at you, and you attacking me online by calling me all sorts of names a month after the event doesn't make you look honest, it just makes me look right -- you're simply continuing to yell at me in another forum. I sincerely hope that you treat other potential customers better in the future. I would never treat anyone the way that you have treated me.

This happened over a month ago. I completely forgot about it. I will not address the accusation that I was yelling at her, its just not my demeanor. I'm very passive and accommodating even in the view of the customer being wrong I try to inject a little humor no matter how annoyed I may be to break the tension. For this customer to say I yelled and argued goes against all that I am and strive to be. The truth of the matter is she was extremely argumentative and verbally viscous. I was barely able to get a word in with her. Her attack was that of a crazed person with only a passion to vent at me and who ever stood in her way. (I think she got up on the wrong side of the bed. or maybe slept on the sofa, lol) tried to tell her that I was with another customer that took longer than anticipated and I was on my way. I tried to explain that my office didn't put her phone number on the appointment so I could not call her. At least I think got it all in between her abusiveness. I wanted to terminate the call but that would not have been the best thing, so I kept listening. I turned the volume down in my blue tooth. I tried to explain that her neighborhood is new and the GPS that I had didn't find her house. I was only gonna be 15mins late. This is the reason I require long time windows. On the first arrangements I did agree to meet with her on my return (the same day) only because she pressed me to come. I really should not have. When I scheduled the second visit I told her that I was squeezing her between another appointment but she didn't want a time window she wanted and exact time. I really felt I was gonna make it when I scheduled it but the appointment went a little longer than expected. I WILL NEVER STOP AN ACTIVE APPOINTMENT' WITH A CUSTOMER. If it goes over the allotted time, I will not interrupt the interview. My mistake in this whole event was allowing the customer to dictate my time and trying to accommodate her time schedule. I hope she got her cable run in her home. .

I have to agree with the Member about the plumbing coupon. It states 200.00 of plumbing for 119.00. Its the same as giving a 81.00 discount. Most people assume that what ever your plumbing needs, its only 119.00. Which is not true. In short the coupon means if I charge 300.00 to do a plumbing job, it will only cost you 219.00. If someone has a better way to give this discount send me an email (Mwiggs@cityrenovations.net). I get this confusion every time. He was a great student. I tried to show him how to change the faucet himself.

It went very well. Mike was very professional, knowledgeable, and EXTREMELY accessible. Overall, the experience was excellent. There was some miscommunication with Mr. Wiggs in the beginning as Fletcher's number was not listed as the POC, so I had a little wasted time in the beginning. Once we got that straightened out, and I spoke with Fletcher we arranged a time for a few weeks later that made it easier for both Fletcher and I scheduling wise. Fletcher provided me with the list of material that I needed and I purchased it ahead of time. I called and texted him the week we discussed having the work performed and we arranged a time. Fletcher arrived on time, looked around to get his bearings on how to run the wires and promptly got to work. He was very neat in his work, taking care to put a drop cloth to catch the mess. He finished about a half hour ahead of time, cleaned up and vacuumed up the carpeting where the stuff from the attic dropped. A very pleasant experience as Fletcher is very personable and professional. Would be happy to have him back into my home to do electrical work as needed.

Mike was the third Handyman service provider contacted, and the only one to be able to perform the work at a reasonable price. It has been a bit of time since the work was done, but there were additional related jobs that needed to be performed in order to unstick the window. He provided a lot of information, as he is clearly very knowledgeable about his profession. He offered a lot of education, and advice, all helping me save tons of money in the long run.

I bought an Angie's List deal for $169 for two hours. I had to pay a little extra for travel because we were out of thier normal service area. The work only took 1 hour, but it still cost me less than a 1.5 hour job that I had done recently with a different company. Fletcher was prompt and courteous. When I called initially, he asked me to text him my address and to call him the day before. Calling the day before was a small price to pay for such prompt and flexible service. He said he'd be there first thing in the morning, but I had to take my boys to an appointment. He came right at 10:45 when I said I'd be able to be there for him. I highly recommend this company.

Another case of "just give me a call" to follow up. I do a lot of estimates and I get a lot of calls to followup on estimates. The time it took to write a bad review could have been used to make a call to get the estimate. As a matter of fact, the estimate was done but we didn't have the email address correct. I wish this customer much success in their project.

I purchased a Big Deal for 3 hours of drywall repair work. The work was scheduled to be completed sometime on the morning of March 8. When no one had arrived by noon on the 8th, I called Michael to see when I should expect him. He apologized that he had not checked his calendar and had forgotten about my appointment. He sent someone out that afternoon but they were not able to finish the job. The worker was very clean and professional and did a good job. But as I mentioned, he was not able to complete the job in the 3 hours we had purchased. He told me that Michael would contact me to schedule the follow up work and arrange payment for it. We never heard from Michael again and I did not attempt to call since it seemed that based on his previous treatment of us he was not necessarily interested in our business. Admittedly, this was a very small job. I am sure that had I called Michael back and pursued having him finish the work, we could have arranged something. But since the job was mostly completed, I decided to just finish it myself and be done with it.

Angie Customer, Your understanding and expectations of how a big deal works is a little far from reality. Normally drywall takes two visits because the tech can't sit and watch the mud dry. The first visit is on the deal. The second visit is at regular cost. The first visit is to repair and skim the walls/ceiling to a point of sanding and priming. I remember talking to you and letting you know this. I know we all want to squeeze the dollar until you get blood but three hours correcting your awful attempt at repairing your home to collect the insurance money was not easy. Second, we went above the specifications to repair your work. My person was late due to a scheduling conflict but you got three hours of work. To assume that your job was too small for us is another assumption on your behalf. A great number of our business is because of the small jobs we do so very well.

I initially contacted Mike for an estimate to install a dishwasher where there currently is not one. When he first arrived he gave me a speech about how the Angie's List Deal worked. He said though a price was quoted for Handyman work, that was not the price for the work to be performed. It reflected a discount of, I think 30%, which is the amount that would be deducted. I thought that was weird. Anyway, when looking at the electrical panel, we discovered that there were no empty breakers. We then began discussing a panel upgrade, which he said would cost about $1600. When then discussed a heavy-up which he said would cost about $3700. After going through the home we had just purchased I mentioned some other items that I wanted done. I received an written estimate for $5108. After discussing the items with my significant other, we decided to just have the dishwasher installed and the heavy-up. I expected the estimate to decrease by about $2000 since we deducted that amount of work. To my dismay, the estimate only decreased by $13. The new estimate also included included $1000 for a permit. The permit for Arlington Co for electrical work is $172, so where was the other $828 going? The company I actually used charge me $225 for the permit. I looked on Angie?s List and there was a Big Deal for a Heavy-up. I then told Mike about the deal and I was told that they "are not a bid competing company". This is fine by me. I'll just use someone else for the work in my home. I discussed the price of the Heavy-up that I was quoted with the electrician who I hired and he said that was an extreme amount.

Once again. A review from a customer that we didn't do the work for. None-the-less I will try to offer some clarity to the review. This was a very nice customer visit and yes it started with the dishwasher. As a matter of fact, I educated this customer on her home and what needed to be done. I am a contractor not a tradesman. my total responsibility is to gather the tradesmen ie electrician and do the work. We have set prices and functions within our company. We have permit runners that cost 1,000. per permit. We don't go to the permit office. that's our cost. I don't try to compete with the tradesmen because they price their own work, do it and so forth. So everyone with say that they can do it cheaper, I hear that a lot. I can give a speech on why pay more. but I will not. My office produced the estimate and omitted portions in the first estimate and put them in the second estimate. Ig the customer let me know I would have removed the additions charges because we value the customer over money. But there was no room for correction and she went with the electrician. I really need all customer to understand the deals. for instance. 200.00 of plumbing for 119. does not mean that regardless of the job it will be 119.00. It;'s the same as saying we will discount the total plumbing cost by 79.00. I try to explain these deal to each customer but it does not go over well with some. Most likely the electrician as do most don't have comprehensive insurance so their cost is less. I cannot compete with that. We give excellent quality work but that comes with a price. This customer learned a lot from my visit. If it were not for me the work she had done would not have been discovered.

City Renovations was great! They returned my call the very day I called them and scheduled me for an estimate that same week.. I went with them after getting 3 other estimates that were much higher.. I felt that they were very knowledgeable and were pretty much able to explain the work to me so I understood what needed to be done and why.. I am a single homeowner so that meant a lot to me. I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend City Renovations.

I met Mike Wiggs for nearly 90 minutes the morning I closed on my new condo. He was on-time and professional. I had an extensive wish list and we walked through all of it. One thing I most appreciated at our first meeting was his willingness to offer an opinion and suggestions to what I was thinking. He had a scope of work and estimate to me in two days. We agreed on my priorities and they started work two days later. Mike and his crew were top-notch. On-time, respectful of my home, and very skilled. Their attention to detail surpassed even my very high standards. Mike was in near constant contact as the project progressed. Was very pleased with the level of communication throughout. I will hire Mike and his team again without question, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. A+ **Update 9/3/2013 - Regretfully need to update my review. I've had other projects teed up and ready, but haven't had any luck getting Mike's attention again to get service scheduled. Disappointed.
Description of Work: I purchased a one-bedroom condo that needed a lot of TLC and updating. Most of the work focused on removing a glass-block wall in the bathroom and replacing it with sheet rock; replacing 5 track light fixtures; removing an old alarm and phone system; building built-in bookshelves; painting walls/ceiling/trim; removing ledge and walls in kitchen; running/hiding cable in baseboards.

My husband and I hired a company to install granite countertops. We needed someone to reconnect the sink. In addition to that, we wanted to change our electric cooktop to a gas cooktop. The builder informed us that there was a gas line in the home so we had hoped it would be an easy conversion. Mike came out the same day I called to scope the job. Once we received the estimate, he took time to review it with us to ensure we understood the work that needed to be done. He also helped us save money in an area we could do ourselves. Day 1 of the job Mike discovered that less effort would be needed for the gas line and save us some money! Other contractors would have just left the price as is for less work. That showed integrity and earned our truse. The job took visits over 2 days due to the coordination of the work. All of his technicians were professional and did a great job. I will definately contact City Renovations and Remodeling for our future projects. Did I mention I called on a Wednesday for work that needed to begin on Monday? We had previously contacted another company who became non responsive. I rated the price a B because who wouldn't want to pay less in any situation (smile). Thanks Mike! You saved us big time!

They did a great job. They actually came to correct the work done by another service provider. He actually came out at 11 o'clock at night because that's when I discovered the leak left by the other company. He took care of the leak and checked over the rest of the work to make sure no other attention was required. He came out the next day and brought an assistant to finish everything else that wasn't as urgent as the leak. Later, I found another leak, called him and asked him about it and he came and found it immediately and fixed it. He also gave me tips and pointers on maintenance after he was gone. The bottom line is, he does excellent work and is a man of his word. I will certainly hire him again!
Description of Work: I hired him to install a diverter in my bathroom, as well as siding in the shower and a commode.
