Overall the job was fine, but a bit sloppy. I was left with quite a bit of touch up on the wall and even one of the outlets was a bit crooked.

To make a long story short, the plaster ceiling in the master bedroom in my 75 year old rental house detached from the lathe and sagged quickly and alarmingly in just two short days while I was out of town. I spoke to Mike at City Renovations, having only what the tenants told me and some pictures they emailed. He coordinated with the tenants, evaluated the situation, advised them to not use the room and got a crew to the house to demo the ceiling, put up drywall and painted before the ceiling could fall and do more damage. In evaluating the situation, Mike also took precautions in case there was more than just a sagging ceiling and had professionals on call in the event of structural damage. He kept me informed as he got more information and even called me late in the evening to reassure me that the situation was well in hand. He was even considerate of my tenants by having his crew stay a little late to finish the job on Friday so that they wouldn't have to stay in a hotel over the weekend with 3 small children and by letting them pick the color of the room! Mike is the best contractor I've even worked with!!!!!

I have never experienced better service from any contractor. He is very knowledgeable. He knew everything. He wasn't only on time, and he was in and out of my home. He worked so fast and he cleaned up after all his work. He is the utmost professional and I would bring him and his crew back to do any job in my home. He is a one stop shop kind of guy. He can do everything you would need. He is the Swiss Army knife of contractors.

I purchased the Big Deal ($59 for One Hour of Drywall/Plaster Repair) on March 13th. The contractor contacted me via Angie's list and asked me to fill out a contact form on their website on March 14th, which I did. On March 19th, Michael Wiggins sent me a message via Angie's list saying there is no need to contact via Angie's list, and that emails would be responded to quicker. He also emailed me coupon where the terms were different from what were stated on the Big Deal. For example, the coupon that was emailed to me specified that I was required to provide the mud and tape, whereas the Big Deal states that the contractor would be providing these materials. Also, the coupon provided rates for additional blocks of time, which were not specified in the Big Deal. My project required repairing two holes, one was a 12 inch X 8 inch hole, and the other was a 24 inch X 17 inch hole. I emailed Michael a picture of the holes and specified the scope of the project. Michael responded that part of the project was outside the scope of work, since the fine print specifies that the maximum area is 12 in X 12 in. He offered an $89 "premium" price. I was not clear what this new price meant and asked Michael for clarification regarding the estimated hours and the proposed hourly rate, on March 20th. After following up, Michael responded on March 25th that the premium is a "flat fee", and that he would charge an additional work fee, that he could not provide an estimated time to complete the project and suggested a start of at least 4 hours. At this point, I was not clear if the Big Deal rate of $59/hour was even relevant, and contacted Michael to clarify this. Michael called me at about 9 PM on March 27th to essentially conclude that I am not his kind of customer. I explained to him that his Big Deal was misleading, and that is perhaps the reason why he has received the negative feedback on Angie's List. In hindsight, I should have paid closer attention to other member comments before purchasing the Big Deal. My experience is consistent with that of several other members who have had similar experiences dealing with this company.

Arrived promptly and was very responsive to my questions. Workers were exacting and performed with great skill due diligence. They returned all furniture to it's original location. They made sure I was satisfied with the work as it was near completion. Cleanup was excellent. Also, gave estimate on a much larger project. Cost was higher than I am accustomed to paying as was indicated up front. However, work was well worth it.

I had to keep making phone calls and we kept doing phone tag. I had to send what I wanted done in an email. I had sent three different emails. I felt since it was not a big job, I did not feel important. If they are overwhelmed with work, they should just tell me they can’t do the job. I ended up giving up and getting a refund through Angie’s List.

The following is the cost I obtained which I consider excessive to say the least. Also they should have came to my residence to do a cost estimate of the job. Never came to my home "I have a coupon which is the equivalent of 81.00 off. If we are replacing a light and changing a switch the cost is 325.00 for up to 2hrs. if it goes beyond the two hours it is 137.80 per hour. Let me know what you would like to do, or not to do."

We emailed back and forth about 16 times. He kept on forgetting what this job was about then he said the job required 3 hours and said we need to buy our own materials. Actually the job we asked for is very small.

They were very professional and on time. They came at 8 am. They communicated very well with me on when was a good time for both of us. They did what they said they were going to do. The guy that came out was very nice and informative. He treated my tenant very well.

I sent an email and they never contacted me to get something scheduled. I then called and I never heard back from them. I ended up getting a refund from Angie’s List

The representative was almost exactly on time, he and a partner worked quickly and efficiently. They stayed a little longer than the required time to finish a section and cleaned up any trace that they were ever there. My only complaint was that we were told midway thru the ordeal that it would take longer than the allotted time (even though the phone consultation stated they would finish in time) and that we would be charged a full 2 hours at full price even though the work was estimated to be another 15 to 20 minutes. I am still giving them an all positive review because the work that was quoted was done to an excellent standard and I have no doubt that if it was a larger job I would have gladly continued to use them or if they were able to complete the job in under 2 hours it would have been top notch.

I called them to set up the appointment. They said they did not service the type of furnace I have because it is an older unit. He was honest and very helpful in his suggestions. I am going to switch my unit to a newer model so he will be able to help me moving forward.

Michael was prompt in return calls. His guy did a quality job, was courteous and professional. I would consider using City Renovations again.

I contacted this company because I needed plumbing work, it had many good reviews giving it an A, and it had a deal of $200 of service for $119. I needed the main shutoff valve to the house replaced and some pinhole leaks to be repaired, which I believe are two though one area is somewhat hidden in the basement ceiling and it is possible there are more or there is a different issue. The provider wanted to come over asap to see what the job would be, saying that my older house would probably have galvanized pipes that needed to be replaced. I offered to send pictures to save him a trip, and if that weren't enough information, then he could come over. He agreed and I sent them. He also asked for an estimate of the pipe diameter and length, which I provided. The pipes are actually copper, which is apparent on the pictures. He then sent me the rules of what the big deal covered and subsequently sent me an invoice for $925.76, which is the cost of the service less the big deal, demanding that I pay in full before the work would start. I wrote him back saying he already had the big deal funds and that I would not pay in full until the work was completed. I shortly after that thought better of having him do any work as I had no trust. I contacted Angie's list and, bless them, they refunded the big deal and offered to locate a plumber who might accept the deal. I declined that as there are many plumbers out there with deals, but Angies customer service is just great. I have encountered situations where the provider seems to be thinking I am a potential cash machine because I am a woman who, by definition, is dumb and can be pushed around financially. I couldn't prove in a court this occurred for that reason, but my gut tells me it is so.

I contacted City Renovations to complete the Handyman work on Friday 2/7/2014. Michael contacted me and set up an appointment to complete the work on 2/11/2014. The Handyman was prompt, professional, and completed the work correctly. Micheal provided ideas and alternatives on how to complete the dry wall work and checked in after to make sure the work was completed to my satisfaction. I would definitely use this company again.

They were very helpful and thorough. Beyond the repairs, it was reassuring to have an electical consultant review the entire house, and make recommmendations for improvements.

Job went well. Work coincided with the prolonged Federal Government Shutdown. Vendor gave me worry free flexibility in paying for the job after I returned to work.

They replaced parts inside the toilet to get it working. Everything was okay. There were no additional costs associated with the Big Deal.

Very well. Arrived on time, completed the work as agreed, and cleaned up thoroughly.

He was excellent and went above and beyond to get the job done.

We bought the special for 2 hours of drywall. First there was confusion about setting up a time because they kept on using the home number instead of my husband's cell. They sent someone for an estimate, but then never gave us the estimate. I told them to call my husband's cell if they exceeded the two hours that we paid for, but they never did, just left us a gigantic bill. Again, that might have been what the job cost but better communication would have really helped.

Crisis day, electrician came out and for interim made preliminary repairs so fridge worked again; returned a couple of days later, drilled holes in walls including to outside, installed new circuits and fixed us up excellently. Pleasant, knowledgeable man named Fletcher performed the work. All fine.

This is the second time City Renovations and Remolding has worked for me. Both times, they were fast and professional. I will continue to hire them.
