Jerry Dix, the owner was a great contractor to work with. He was available at all times if I needed him for any reason. He has an excellent crew and they love working for Jerry! Hosea and Carlos were excellent painters and repair work. They show great attention to detail. I had another room that I paid to have painted but really didn't need it, instead Hosea and Carlos painted all the doors and woodwork in the rest of my house. They also grouted my staircase that needed it and anything else I needed done. They were very respectful, on-time, neat and tidy, considerate, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely have this company do more work for me and will advise others to use this company.

He was great. He did a great job and did it quickly. He did follow up before hand. We were really happy with the work. He couldn't have been a nicer person.

They did a good job. They were prompt, they were a good price, they used good paint.

They gave us a good estimate, but it was not as detailed as we needed and they were not very out to help. They would not give me the details. They did not want to take the time. They didn't seem willing to go the extra mile.

I had a great experience. The two painters working on the house were friendly and courteous and respected my property. They were true professionals and were very diligent. The work was done on time and at the price quoted. Jerry Dix the owner was easy to deal with and intent on pleasing his customers. I would recommend this company.

Jerry and his crew did a really fantastic job of painting inside my house! I had just replaced most of the flooring with new carpet and new wood floors, and was concerned that the painters would spill or drop paint on it. They did not. In fact, they did a really great job all the way around! Walls look great! No mess to clean up afterwards they took care of it all.

One room is already prepared for him. He said we aren't going to do this room like the other one. I appreciated his honesty. I would recommend him and use him again.

Jerry Dix the owner, came out to look at our house. He emailed an estimate within 2 or 3 days. I emailed back and asked if his Angie's List coupon was valid. He replied affirmatively and gave us another 10% off. We mailed the signed contract in and the painters started in two to three weeks. They worked on our house for 10 days which is what they anticipated and completed the work and the punch list yesterday. Their work was outstanding. I would highly recommend.

Owner, Jerry Dix responded promptly to my initial call and came out to provide an estimate within a week. The estimate was fair and the work began 2 weeks later. The two gentlemen, Jose and Carlos, who actually did the work were wonderful, considerate of the fact that they were 'invading' our home for 5 and a half days, very friendly and professional and their work was excellent. They arrived on time every morning and tidied all their equipment up each afternoon so it was out of our way in the evenings. Work was completed in the time that Jerry had said and we were very pleased with the final result. I had Jerry also give me an estimate for a number of handyman jobs that I needed doing. I had chosen S and J in part because I hoped to get it all done through the same company, but he wasn't able to supply me with anyone to do these jobs so I can only recommend the painting side of things, which I wholeheartedly do. Not being able to have these jobs taken care of are the reason for the B for responsiveness, otherwise it would have been an A.

The process went very well. Everyone was careful in performing the work, patient with my uncertainly on a color selection and willing to give advice on finish. Mike was very kind in painting sample shades on the walls to assist me in selecting what to put where. David(?) was very patient and careful with doing much of the prep work. Also, the staff cleaned up well. Most important, the work looks very good. There is only one item on which I would advise a potential customer and that is to get Jerry Dix (or whoever performs the estimate) to give it in writing. This troubled me at the time but the price was very reasonable and the company was the only one of the painters I considered which was listed on Angie's List so I went with it. I had written down the prices but Jerry might have lost his papers. When one of his painters/partners came to collect the check he thought the price was for $100 more than I had recorded. I will have Jerry write down our agreement the next time I have him do work, which I expect to be very soon.

The experience was great. Jerry is very friendly and easy to work with.

After a brief phone conversation and in-home visit, Jerry provided an estimate that was the lowest of those we received; combining that with his pleasant demeanor and knowledge, we were happy to choose S&J. The start date was moved up at our request to accommodate a shift in our schedule. The crew worked for three straight days prepping, priming and completing a couple of rooms. They returned for two more days to put first and second coats on the remaining rooms. We discovered a handful of areas where the job wasn't completed according to our instructions and Mike came out the day after our phone call to finish up. Some of the larger repaired holes are slightly noticeable and although they covered all the furniture and took care to cover the ceiling fans, sanding dust was a nuisance in the days following their project. We are pleased with the quality of the finished job, the details they gave to contrasting trim and the care with which they protected our furnishings.

Jerry had the the lowest estimate of the 4 contractors that I had come by to look at my house and since he had an overall rating of A, just like the other contractors, I offered him the job. He had 3 gentlemen at my house to start work within 2 weeks. Even though Jerry was not present while the work was being done, he was just a phone call away. I did in fact call him a few times with some minor concerns, which he had his guys correct immediately. Overall, Jerry and his folks were a pleasure to work with, and made the upheaval of painting my entire house a little less stressful. Jerry even came back out himself to touch up a few spots that I noticed a week after the initial job was finished and he had already been paid. Great customer service!!!

Jose and Carlos were very good painters. They were very careful, caulked where it was needed, and cleaned up the area they were working on before leaving for the day. It took them 7 days to do the job. They also rehung heating vents in the basement ceiling that wouldn't stay in.

S&J did a fantastic job. They were always on time, they worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, and fixed little things along the way to result in a fantastic job!!

Overall the project went very well. All the work performed was done to my satisfaction and on schedule. The contractors were a pleasure to work with. They cleaned up each evening (the other contractor did not). Since there was drywalling, there was a lot of dust, I would have preferred that they wall off the area w/plastic. They did cover my living room furniture, but not the items I had left in the dining room, so I thought they could have been a bit more conscientious about the dust. The billing & payment experience was a bit odd, no signed contract...but, also there was no upfront payment requested. When I mentioned the website coupon, they had me purchase materials for one item. Also, I forgot to arrange for removal of debris, so that was additional, but overall, particularly as compared to my previous experience, they did a really nice job. I would definitely hire them again.

I found Steven Brownley to be trustworthy, hard-working, knowledgeable in many areas, and personable. I contacted Jerry Dix for the drywall repair, mud, and painting (see separate Angie's report on that job) and Jerry connected me with Steve for re-installation of the various items and other handyman items. I was quoted a $250 minimum for Steve's work, but it basically covered 4 hours and I was encouraged to fill up the 4 hours. Steve charges $60 an hour, so if my to-do list items had exceeded the 4 hours, I would have paid him for each additional hour. For this first job, I kept the tasks right at the 4 hours, but I asked Steve to give me quotes on two future additional projects: (1) re-screening 7 screens, hanging 1 screen door for the slider, and (2) pressure washing and staining the deck. Steve came out first to go over the items I wanted; he wrote everything down; then we scheduled times for the work to be done (the mailbox post had to wait for the weather).

When I called, I spoke with the owner, Jerry Dix, and he was very responsive. After the estimate, we scheduled the work about a week later. Jerry estimated the job would take about 8 hours and he was right, it was a total of 8.5 hours, 2 half-days. Carlos was efficient and agreeable and his work was great quality -- smooth finish to the walls, no indication that any repair had been needed. Carlos forgot one thing, to cut a hole in the drywall replacement piece for the ceiling to bring down the light fixture wires so we could reinstall the light. However, S&J has access to a handyman who we had already planned to use to re-hang the light (at separate expense), so the handyman cut the hole as part of his project (separate Angie's report).

Very well. The contractor and his employees were on time and cleaned up thoroughly. Work was done in a craftsman like manner.

My overall experience was excellent: the project began and ended on time (4 days total, including the first day that was devoted to patching and priming); the painters worked very hard and did a great job. Very polite, nice guys who cleaned up after themselves each day and helped me move furniture at the beginning of the project (as well as moved it all back in place at the completion). I requested two coats of paint (and used Benjamin Moore, so my costs were a bit higher) and I am very happy with the results. It was well-worth the money! They were not the least-expensive estimate, but I am glad I hired them as I believe I got my money's worth.

The owner Jerry Dix showed up at the appointed date and time and prepared an initial estimate. That night he emailed a contract with a break down of each portion of the job. Before the work began, he visited again to work on the details like the number of coats, schedule and the order in which the rooms would be painted. I found the crew to be very accommodating. They asked questions where needed to make sure that things were done to my satisfaction. The completely covered all furniture and other items and used drop cloths that completely covered the floors and carpet. The removed the window treatments and replaced them when the painting was done. They moved the heavy furniture and were very careful with the hardwood floors. The quality of the paint job was excellent and better than what we expected. The crew chief noted an electrical outlet that was arcing and suggested a different color for the ceilings that we just love.

It was a very good overall experience.

Very well. Jerry sent one painter who worked for 3 days and did a great job. Everything looks beautiful. They were on time and the job was done as promised, just in time for the holidays. The job is neat (no drips, no runs, no errors). The hardwood floors and wall paper was left just as he found it. In fact the walls look so good, I may have to have the floors done now. Mike (the painter) was very polite and didn't even mind when the dog occasionally got loose and into the work area to investigate. Price was a bit higher than other estimates, but it is worth the extra for a perfect job.

Scheduled as a one day job. Since I wanted to be home, it was scheduled for a Saturday. No contact until 10am but with no ladders or paint. Two hours later, work started, but not even half-done. Schedule another full day, taking leave from work. Still not done. Didn't even bring wood to replace trim, so time spent getting that (though not enough). Said one more day of work would finish things off. Gave up trying to be at home, since they couldn't tell me when they would be back. Did bits and pieces for another week until "finished" (no rain during period), but no contact either. Stuff left on site. Owner showed up at 8:30pm one day after job was finished asking for a check. Was adamant that he needed it now (Terms were that he would bill me, but I had yet to even receive an invoice and I hadn't see the work in sunlight). When inspected, there was one side completely unpainted (aluminum, but not told) and missed items throughout. Wood putty was their version of repair/replace.
