S & J Painting & Remodeling

The person that came was very nice and professional. However the price that was given to me for an estimate compared to the other 4 estimates that were provided for the same job, was outrageous. The lowest estimate was $600 and his was the highest at $1600! While I respect each companies work and don't expect all estimates to match, I do expect that they are all in the same price range. This seemed way of the chart to me and I have some completed home improvement work myself so I know some things about repair. This is the reason I did not choose this company and nor would I call them for future work.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The job was not a small one; however, the team knocked it out in the stated time frame and budget. I was especially pleased by the reliability and professionalism of the team. From start to finish, Jerry and his team was punctual, courteous and reliable. Jerry keeps his appointments, and his team arrived on time every day and finished every day with 30min of cleaning up. New light fixtures and flooring were well protected - not a speck of stray paint could be found when the job was completed. They hauled all their trash. The attention to detail was above and beyond what I have experienced with other contractors. I was very impressed. It is unfortunate that I did not know about S&J sooner.

We have an apartment in a Victorian building, very high ceilings with very large windows. Jerry provided us with a very reasonable quote and provided good feedback re the dates/times they would be able to complete the work (we were co-ordinating the paint job with the move out of our tenant and our move back into the apartment) Overall the apartment is between 800-900 square feet and the job included all the paintwork on the windows/cornices and 4 interior doors. It looks really beautiful and makes such a difference to the appearance of the apartment, I would totally use Jerry and his team again.

Steve gave us a great experience. We ran into a snag at the beginning of the project with the price, but Steve was willing to negotiate with us find a price that we felt was fair and reasonable. He showed up on time every day, was very communicative throughout the entire project, and did great work. He was very flexible when we threw in a couple of changes to the original plan, and made sure to communicate any issues or changes he ran into. The project did wind up taking a couple of days longer than Steve estimated, but we attributed that to the fact that we added a couple of new things to the project (inset tiled shelves in the tub, add a decorative border in the shower, etc). Overall, we were very happy with his workmanship and would recommend this company to our friends and family.

On sending an inquiry through Angies List , Jerry scheduled an appointment and came over and discussed the job and gave price estimates. The price was reasonable. He also scheduled the job per our convenience. They painted two floors (Foyer, Family Room, , Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room and Powder room on the first floor; and upper landing, master bed room , master bath and 3 other bedrooms including hall bath and washer dryer room on the second floor) including ceiling, doors and trim. We used different colors for the rooms maintiaining one color for the walls and white for the trim and ceiling in each room. His crew were punctual and professional.The work was of a great quality and when a couple of spots showed up after the paint dried (which is normal), they came back and applied touches. We are very happy with the work done. Through out the process, Jerry was easily accessible and monitored the progress. I am highly impressed with their service and quality of work.

Entire experience was positive - from job estimate to job completion. S&J was always punctual, accomplished the intended tasks and cleaned up each evening. Their recommendations were always solid and very helpful. When our requests required creative approaches, they tackled the challenges with enthusiasm. Communications were on-going throughout the project to ensure our expectations were met and to address any questions. We love the new bathroom - even better than we expected! We will hire S&J again!

After his first email acknowledging my interest in getting an estimate he didn't respond to my email regarding availability for meeting to discuss the job.

Everything went pretty well. They were easy to deal with. I don't think pricing was out of line.

This was a big job and it went smoothly. Very happy with the results.

Jerry and his team were excellent to work with, very responsive, and very professional. They completed the work quickly and did a great job. They also were good to paint all the closets and trim, including the crown molding. Overall we were very satisfied with their work.

The experience was great. Jerry was clear that he was busy and wouldn't be able to help me right away, but he was able to stop by the house and give me an estimate so I could decide if I wanted to go with him. His price was very reasonable, so we made plans for him to start working the following week or so. He informed me when the work was done, and I met him at the house to inspect the work. Unfortunately, the gutter had fallen and one section of the fence cap was not painted, but Jerry had someone come out the next day and finish the painting and secure the gutter, and he notified me when it was done. I re-inspected the work and it was satisfactory.

Stephen was a pleasure to meet. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He emailed us a quote for the deck a few days after he came to the house. This was one of the most detailed and professional quotes we have ever received. We ended up going with another company but would definitely consider using S&J for future home improvements.

Our house was a new construction. The painters were very good and punctual. They touched up areas we asked them to. They also did a custom strip on the wall for us. We only saw Jerry maybe two or three times. It took the painters about 7 days to finish. Jerry was pretty good about trying to get it done quickly for us since we had just moved in. Overall, good job done by everyone and my wife was very happy.

The project went well essentially because S&J painters are not only good, but also flexible and accommodating. The original estimate was for a price of around 5600 based on one coat of paint (plus a promise "to cover" where necessary) assuming that I would not change the existing colors of the walls. In fact I probably should have asked for two coats of paint just for the sake of durability. As it worked out I did change my wishes for wall colors mid-stream, which meant that the head painter (the talented and extremely helpful Nestor Morales) had to make trips to the store to obtain extra paint and to repaint. There were basically two painters assigned to the project, but as I was eager to have the job done quickly -- and I think the painters were also pressed to finish other on-going projects --- they were able to assign an additional painter on some of the days, and the whole job was done in seven days. The addition of an extra worker as well as my request to change paint color raised the price. The work overall was excellent. There were one or two small drips or spatters in a couple of areas-- not enough to be surprised about. The overall clean-up was quite satisfactory.

Jerry and his crew are excellent. Jose does excellent work! They were on time, and completed a tough job in a timely manner as promised. Possibly the best part of working with S&J is Jerry's amazing communication skills. If you contact Jerry, he will get back to you and he kept us up to date on the progress of the job as time went on. Could not have asked for a better group, I will certainly use them again in the future.

Steve purchased the material and made recommendations when asked. He did not over charge for the material and kept it at a very reasonable rate. He let us know if materials chosen would fit our budget and still look top notch.

I called S&J to do some handyman type work on a house that I sold. It was after the house inspection and the buyers had asked for a bunch of minor things to be fixed. A lot of contractors don't like to do minor jobs like this, especially on short notice, but S&J came out within a day to give me an estimate and then scheduled the work within a week. They showed up on time and did a nice job and were really pleasant to work with. Later, on the day before the closing, the buyers asked for yet another bit of work to be done and S&J were actually willing to come out and do it at no cost. In the end, we didn't have to have them do it but it was very reassuring to know that they were available. I was amazed.

Jerry came and gave an initial quote, very efficient and professional. He put me in touch with his handyman Bob who stopped by at my request to take a quick look at everything since I'd be supplying the replacement shelf and ligts - I wanted to make sure I got something he could work with. Bob and I agreed on a day for the work, he and his son Robert showed up on the morning of the agreed upon day ready for work. Bob and Robert are both very professional and personable, I stayed with them for part of the work because I wanted to see if I could lend a hand and I was hoping to learn something. Bob is a natural teacher; while he was working on various jobs he was explaining to me what he was doing and what kind of unexpected problems one might run into. Robert seems to be apprenticing under Bob's direction and is already very efficient at most tasks, Bob would regularly check Robert's work but there were no problems. Sometimes Bob would point things out to his son, by that time I felt as if I was learning much more than I was expecting, the day went by quickly. I was very grateful for the work that was done as well as the practical lessons I learned by watching and listening while helping when I could and staying out of the way when I couldn't. I will definitely hire S & J again for 'handyman' chores and probably some more extensive contracting work in the future; they are professional, courteous and don't flinch when the homeowner obviously knows very little about household repairs. Bob even encouraged me to try some of the more basic things on my own; his refrain was "if you mess it up you can always call me," that's actually pretty reassuring. I learned a lot.

The work was outstanding and everyone I dealt with (the owner and the men who did the painting) was professional. Should I need any additional painting, I would call on this company again. (Side note: I thought I had submitted a report soon after the job was completed but it turns out that wasn't the case).

. They are very creative, adaptive and very responsive. I had a laundry issue and they were very good in engineering the laundry chute into the new cabinet. They took on any task that I needed done. They had a can-do attitude. They were very cheerful. I thought they were very reasonable. I would use them in the future.

Jerry is a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, his prices are very competitive, and his painters are professional, extremely cordial, and perform high quality work. Whatever we wanted done, the reply was "no problem" from Nahum and his crew., When I requested some touch up work (very minor) for work which was inadvertently missed, Jerry personally came to the unit to finish the job. The crew went above and beyond the terms of the contract to perform the job, and we would highly recommend S & J.

Great experience - 10 out of 10! I solicited estimates over the weekend, and the contractor Jerry called me on Monday and left me a message. When I called back he returned my call promptly. He setup a time to come to my house for a free estimate. He showed up on time. He discussed what I wanted in detail, and I told him I was planning on providing the paint. He discussed what paints I was planning on using, and he provided advice so I would get good quality materials. He provided the estimate the same evening via email. I had some items on the estimate I wanted him to clarify. He provided the updated estimate the next day. This made the whole process easy. His estimate was detailed, and I was clear on what materials and service he was agreeing to provide. The work was scheduled within a week, and he accommodated my work travel schedule. The first day the wallpaper was removed for all 3 rooms, and the entire area was prepared for the painting. A crew of 3 professional painters completed the job after 3 more full days on the job. I can only describe the job foreman as a perfectionist. He made sure I was completely satisfied with the job, and he kept me informed of his completion time estimate. My entire family was extremely happy with the results, the courteousness of the crew, and the way they cared for our furniture, granite surfaces, and the clean-up at the end of each day and at the end of the job. Outstanding job. I will never paint again - it would have taken me many days to do this job myself, and I'm sure the result would not be anywhere near what S&J Painting and Remodeling achieved.

I chose to do the work myself but S&J was responsive and professional to my request for an estimate.

It was great work. I was very satisfied. The guys were under budget and on time. They were professional. One of the key things was that they communicated very well. They were very flexible about minutes. They started with a base quote or design for a proposal and then allowed us to pick and choose what to add and subtract. Overall, I would highly recommend them because they were very straightforward, down to earth, and flexible. It was a definitely a fair price and good value. One of the things we liked best was their responsiveness. They were very responsive. They were always on time. I don't think there was any time that they actually had to wait for everything. The whole project came in on time. He said 7 weeks and it took 7 weeks. They were also very professional. I have already planned to use them in the future and I have already recommended them to 4 other friends and neighbors.

From start to finish, my experience with S & J Painting was top notch. The owner, Jerry Dix, came to measure and make a detailed estimate of the work to be done and the price. The painter, Jose, arrived each day on time and did a wonderful job with the painting, leaving my place spotless. When Jerry Dix came by to check on things midway, I was so pleased how the painting was going that I asked Jerry to add the master BR/bath and another bath to our contract. I can't say enough good things about this company, the owner, and the actual painter who did the work.
