Carpet Cleaning, Oriental Rug Cleaning
$163
I'm very disappointed with VClean. I bought an Amazon Local deal for 3 rooms of carpet cleaning.  When I made the appointment, I found out that our 8'x9' area rug isn't covered by the deal, even though the deal does not specify that area rugs are excluded (this one is large enough that it's just as easy to clean as wall-to-wall. It's not going to move around like a hallway runner or something, so there's no obvious reason for an upcharge). I reluctantly accepted that, even though it's not consistent with the terms of their Amazon Local deal. When the cleaner got here, he told me that the carpets with any visible stains would require a deep scrub. Apparently the baseline cleaning is only for carpets that are already clean, and if your carpets need any actual cleaning, that's an extra $25/room (not including the area rug). Then he said that the family room has a Berber carpet, which costs an extra $20. I protested, because the family room has a textured cut pile carpet, whereas Berber is always loop pile, and he insisted that it was a different material that made it Berber even without the loop pile, and that if he used the normal cleaning solution, it would damage the carpet. I didn't know enough about carpets to challenge his claim on the spot, but from further research, this appears to be complete nonsense. Berber is specifically a loop pile design, and carpet material is a separate and unrelated issue. Even if that carpet does require some kind of different cleaning solution, it's not a Berber carpet, so it doesn't fall under a specified exclusion from the deal, so extra this $20 was a bait-and-switch, plain and simple. He also tried to sell me on an extra deodorant treatment, which I steadfastly refused.
The cleaner also tracked in lots of salt debris onto our hardwood floors from his cleaning machinery (it's snowy out, so the ground is salted everywhere in the area).  When he finished, I asked him to clean it up, and he borrowed a broom to superficially sweep the loose salt up by the front door, which didn't clean up the salt tracks (it clearly needed to be mopped or cleaned with a damp cloth). He also left a big puddle of water on the hardwood next to the area rug. When I hire someone to clean, I should not have to clean up after him.
All said and done, this $39 deal cost me $163. One of the three cleaned carpets is visibly much cleaner than before. I can't tell if the family room carpet stains are gone until it dries (they were larger subtler stains than the ones in the other room, and because the carpet has a textured coloring, they don't show up when the carpet is damp). And I won't know if the old odor problems in the area rug are taken care of until it fully dries. Even if the result meets our expectations on the carpet, I could have not just rented, but purchased a carpet cleaner and done this myself for what it ended out costing, and I wouldn't have had to clean up a salty mess all over our hardwood.
Stay away from VClean. They'll come up up with extra charges to make your service as expensive as possible, prey on the fact that you don't know as much about carpets as they do, and then they'll do shoddy work.

I hired them to do a deep cleaning, which cost $300.00.  After the job was done, it didn't look good, and I was told that when it dried it would look good, but it still did not look good.  They advertise $110 to clean the carpet, but then they give you a different price when they actually do the work, and then don't do the job right.  I would not recommend him to anyone.

office is a bit slow to reply. they are nice though.
I have used this company twice so far. The day of the cleaning, they call to let you know they are on their way which is nice and the guys are very nice and very proffesional. They know what they are doing. Wasnt too happy about the price, but it is still good work. I will hire them again.

Vclean is very responsive especially when I called them and they showed up. They called me with courtesy. They come even if it is a Sunday or holiday. They come in earlier than expected time. They clean up their mess before they packed up. The only negative feedback I would say is that their service price is like a bait and switch i.e. when I do business with them as a customer I wanted to have one price per se but when I pay the price is almost doubled. Now, I understand why and they should have explained that beforehand that anything beyond the service given there is an additional pay so customer will consider if they will take the service or not and if they do they will not whine or be irritated when receiving the bill for the service rendered. Overall, the staff was very respectful and treats the house well. The staff was great and I would recommend them.

They didn't return my calls to schedule the cleaning that I had paid for.  I have yet to hear from them.  Perhaps there was a problem with their answering service?

It went as expected. They tried to upsell mold cleaning, but I knew it wasn't necessary. They did the job the way they should have and everything turned out well.

Air Duct Cleaning, Ceramic Tile Service

Big mistake. One of the employees damaged marble tiles in powder room beyond belief. Vclean sent 4 different tile repair companies out to survey the damage and give an estimate to restore the tiles to the  previous condition. After they found the cheapest they hired that company, that company ended up turning the job over to another subcontractor. That individual did not make the neccesary repairs and I still have a gouged marble floor.
The original workers arrived in an old beat up unmarked white van. They reeked of smoke. They were nice,  just incompetent.
Vclean will never set foot in my house again.

Check reviews on Angie's List and went with VClean.  Technician arrived at appointed time on time.  We had the rooms free for furniture except dining room, we left the dining room table.  Mike survey and measured the areas to make sure they fell within the rules.  Explained the work to be done, offered any upgrades (sanitizer and teflon).  Job took about 1.5hrs from arrival to departure.  Cleaning came with a 5yr warranty.  Carpets took about 2.5 days to dry.   We are pleased with the work.  Our carpet was 7yr old.  The odd thing was that he used a smaller portable slightly less powerful machine that what some companies have mounted inside their vans.

This portion is an update:  About 4 months later the stains were back.

We asked that we be credited back the cost of the service, since the footboard itself was between 400 and 600 dollars anyhow...and, that patching the furniture would need to be done yearly for the life of the bed.  V-clean essentially took the word of thier technician over ours, and refused to credit us back the cost of the service.  Now, we are left with a very large gouge in our footboard.  All in all, the technician did his job, and was professional.  But, accidents happen, and we were hoping V-Clean would do the right thing, but in our view, that did not happen. In the end,  it certainly was not worth the risk to our furniture, or our wallet!!

We used a GroupOn to clean a few vents. Within minutes of arriving we were told we have a bad Black Mold problem. Within 10 minutes he had a quote to remediate it for $1700 total. He said they would be the cheapest place we would find, with the best service. I told him we'll shop around.Called a more professional company (one that does not arrive in an unmarked minivan). They came out the next day and denied any mold, but did say we have a lot of dust and rust around our furnace. Willingly paid them to clean ALL the ducts in the house; saved $1400.

I would not recommend them.  The gentleman himself that came out to do the work was excellent however he didn't perform work that I was expecting.  We had to get our heating/cooling ventilation disinfected.  I was assuming they would vacuum out the duct work and really get everything out of there but that wasn't done.  The price I paid for the disinfecting was very expensive.  I called them back because I could still smell something in the ventilation and I was told it would be a different job with another cost to have that taken care of.

iI contacted VCLEAN from an ad I saw in the Express newspaper.  The price seemed right, but I guess I get what I pay for.  The ad stated that the service was $99.99.  It turned out to be much more due to the other services they want you to get.  First of all, they showed up in some beat up car with a steam cleaner hanging out of the back.  These guys basically looked like two thugs from a gang.  I am a grown man and I was constantly looking over my shoulder the entire time since they were dressed in casual street clothes.  Their appearance aside, they tracked mud throughout the house so luckily for me, they were carpet cleaners so they could clean up their own mess.  They did the job, but he professionalism was not there.  This was evident by the way they banged stuff around and spilled water all over the hardwoods.  Next time I will be willing to pay more for more professional service people.

. The team however did not leave my kitchen floor broom clean, which is my expectation for quality for people working in my house. I called the V clean company to let them know that I was an Angie's List member and that I was unhappy that the work crew had left debris from the dryer on my kitchen floor. They offered me a disccount on another visit that the company was making to clean furniture in January 2012.  This is why I gave the company B's and a C in several categories.  I will provide Angies List with a further report on how the company performs its work in January 2012, and hope to be able to improve the marks I give the company.

Purchased a Groupon for VClean and scheduled them for a cleaning of our vents.  The extra cost beyond the Groupon turned out being $315 which I thought was high, but OK, we went for it.  At some point during the process, he asked my wife "Should I spray some sanitizer into the vents as I go along?"  She said "Why not."  Then, when he wanted to be paid, he wanted to pay an extra $400 for essentially spraying Lysol into our vents!!!!  At no time did he mention such a number until he was finished.  I refused to pay.  Then the tech suggested I give him $100 personally and he would eliminate the charge.  At that point, I hit the roof and refused to pay him for anything other than the original $315.  He finally left.

After thinking further about it, I realized he charged us $100 for cleaning 2 mains but then again, how could he have gotten to the mains?  There is no access!

I would never hire these people to do anything in my house.  Stay away from them!
