I reached out to Mold Gone in the midst of Hurricane Sandy, when I discovered terrible mold growing in the basement storage room. Despite it being such a busy time for them, Mike came out for an assessment within a few days. He gave great advice and suggested that the source of the problem was likely coming from the exterior -- he was right, and after having work done on the exterior to resolve the leakage problem, Mold Gone came and did the agreed-upon work. Mike and his partner were incredibly professional and talked us through the work they were doing. They also gave great advice on other improvements (e.g., installing a dehumidifier) that could alleviate further mold risk. So far, so good. No mold has returned (knock on wood). While their services are definitely an investment, the quality, expertise and reliability are second to none. I highly recommend Mold Gone.
Description of Work: Conducted initial assessment of mold in basement storage room (roughly 5'x12'). Removed all mold and treated walls to protect against future mold growth.

During storm Sandy my roof developed a leak and the wall between my kitchen and family room became saturated inside and then overflowed and saturated my family room carpet, soaking it and the pad underneath before I knew what had happened. It was only still raining lightly when I noticed this (the hard raining was over with) and began calling people to come to my aid and of course no one could come for weeks. Luckily I got my roof company to come and caulk the small leak as a temporary measure, but getting someone to come and help inside was impossible with all the terrible disasters going on. Finally, I contacted Mold Gone, and Mike came out and gave me a quick look and then sent in the heavy guns of Joe who took over and gave me the estimate of the above work (in the box above) and what it would take. I was able to get a couple more estimates but I like Mold Gone's family business and caring attitude. Their price was the best too. They started the job with Kevin , Jorge, and Gus and it went very professionally, efficiently, and quickly. They worked very hard and in a certain way to get rid of all the wetness and mold. They had a lot of big black bags to remove. They cleaned up everything so well. The job went very quickly and they did many extras to make the room look elegant. The floor, walls, shelves, ceiling, moldings, are all brand new. They even put in crown molding, which I didn't ask for. An extra bonus!! These guys are just so great. They are polite and so easy to work with. Joe, the company president, went out and bought some new shelves for me, and put them up as an extra bonus too!! I can't say enough. My new room is the favorite place in my house. It is so a much brighter and happier place now. Mold Gone took care of me in a professional, efficient and caring way. They answered all my questions, and took away all my worries. If you ever think you might have a water or mold problem, call Joe at Mold Gone and your worries will be gone. He will help you out. I would call him again if I ever needed to.
Description of Work: Demolition of family room after leak in roof (storm Sandy). Testing for mold. Remediation and clean up of mold and materials. Reconstruction of demolition and remediated area. The overall experience was excellent. The Mold Gone rep kept me informed of what he was looking for and gave me important tips to better protect the home from any mold growth in the future. My particular issue related to a leak in the HVAC system and did not require Mold Gone's services, but the Mold Gone rep was kind enough to refer me to another company. I was charged nothing for the visit and walked away with a good set of recommendations to protect my home from mold. I would definitely call Mold Gone for services in the future.
Description of Work: Another company alerted me to a potential mold problem during a routine air duct cleaning, so I contacted Mold Gone to further explore the issue. The Mold Gone rep completed an extensive review of the home's interior and exterior as a mold assessment. As no mold was detected, no services were performed.

It all went very well. The job was isolated from the rest of the interior of my home. Nothing was tracked into the rest of the house. I was amazed at how well it all went and how quickly it was completed.
Description of Work: Complete removal of mold damaged wall covering and plaster, down to interior brick. Removal of all contaminated material from the interior of the house. Restoration of wall with new plaster and finish coat, ready for new wall covering. My price included hanging new wall covering, which I have not availed myself of yet.

It went great. See above. Suspect a problem, call them!
Description of Work: I can not say enough good things about this company. We had water damage from Sandy and out of panic, I guess, we found and used a company named ISCT. They charged over 2 times as much as Mold Gone for tests that were very questionable and I really had to push to get a report. Mold Gone was not only less expensive, by a lot, but they did more tests, for a longer time, and gave me much more information while doing them. The results were back quickly with a report. Even though they do remediation work they convinced me, that given the results, none was necessary. They were punctual, knowledgeable, and very friendly. We highly, highly recommend them! I would strongly not recommend not using ISCT!

Joe was able to propose helping us address some other repair issues in the home that aren't related to mold. We are now looking forward to improved air quality, elimination of our mold issue, and attention to repair work that we've needed for a while thanks to this professional. The work quality will be reviewed after the job is finished. It is scheduled for February 2013. Update: The mold issue proved to be more extensive than anticipated. We all discussed this, and Joe provided the option and suggestion of gutting the entire basement instead of disinfecting and replacing some wall board. That was the best thing we decided to do, providing a new start when we can afford to re-finish the basement the way we want it. His crew was able to make unanticipated time to perform this additional work. All wood, walls, studs, and fixtures were removed and discarded. All surfaces were disinfected, and Joe even lent us a professional air scrubber for over a month. He recommended professional extensive vent/air system cleaning, which we did. We replaced our dehumidifier at Joe's suggestion. The basement of this old house still has a musty smell, but there is no visible mold. There is no apparent moisture or water seepage. We will next investigate total waterproofing and sealing of the walls and floors when we can afford it.
Description of Work: We met with Mold Gone most recently on December 16, 2012. Basement mold remediation will be scheduled for February 2013, but the work has not yet been performed, and thus quality of the work cannot be rated. However, when Joe from Mold Gone met with my husband and me together, we were provided a professional, insightful, realistic and measured discussion of our options and expectations for removal and disinfection of affected surfaces. He is extremely knowledgeable about the health effects and implications of visible, hidden, as well as aerosolized mold. Joe answered our questions and was able to help us think of alternatives we hadn't previously considered at a very competitive price. We anticipate signing a contract soon and placing a deposit. Thus far, we have not spent any $ on the work proposed. Update: Joe and his crew performed mold assessment, air quality testing, remediation and treatment, and removal of all wood, walls and studs in the basement.

They sealed off, scrubbed, sprayed, and encapsulated the mold. They were curtious, clean, efficient, and able to answer all my questions to specifics. They even reimbursement me for the Angie's discount after the fact. Now my house smells and feels better. I would recommendation to anyone these experts.
Description of Work: After not having power for a week thus no humidifier, the mold in our basement began to make my entire family sick. As Angie's has not let us down yet, I quickly search for a company to help us out. Upon hearing how sick we were, the owner personally dropped off an air scrubber several days before the work was to be done. Within hours I and my family could breath, and the air smelled clean.

Jon & Mike are both very responsive and incredibly professional. We were concerned about mold and mildew spots in our 1926 condo, and Mike came out to give us an evaluation. It turned out that it was nothing serious, and Mike even provided suggestions as to how we could do this on our own (getting a dehumidifier and painting drylock) rather than hiring his company--which he said would be more expensive. I really appreciated that honesty, and it demonstrated their trustworthiness. If I ever have other concerns in this area, Mold Gone will be my first call and I highly recommend them!

I had a general concern about possible mold problems throughout the house and requested an evaluation and estimate. Mike inspected the whole house but said the only area that needed professional attention was the crawl space. He explained what we could do to prevent and treat mold in other areas of the house. This was very helpful and it was quite clear that he was not trying to "up-sell.". The estimate was emailed promptly, and the appointment scheduled within a week. When super storm Sandy blew in on the scheduled date, they let me know and rescheduled. The work crew arrived on time, sealed off the area, did the work quickly and left no mess. The process was a bit noisey and smelly. This is a very professional group and I was pleased with their handling of everything.
Description of Work: Removed debris and installed vapor barrier in crawl space. Removed existing mold and sealed all surfaces also in craw space.

In working with Mike from beginning to end. Everything that he said he would do was done in a very timely manner. He would check often to make certain that ALL our needs were met and work and clean-up were done to our satisfactory. Mike gave us wrtten and verbal detail of waht things were going to be done and howthings would be done and would give you the price up front . Mike and staff presented VERY good customer relations skills whcih went a LONG way from the beginning to the end in resolving our issues. Mike represented Mold Begone in a very possitive way in showing that there are some companies you can trust and perform to your satisfaction instead of trying to dig DEEP into your pockets.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced drywall to treat infected areas in living room. Painted ceiling and wall where drywall was replaced. First and foremost, Mold Gone not only provided a mold restoration service to our home; equally important, Mold Gone restored our faith & trust in skilled Tradesmen. This company's president could/should do a "How To ..." seminar or clinic for the collective group of many local trades people who happily collect their fees, yet leave the job having provided only...sometimes, at best...minimal satisfaction for their service(s). From the initial evaluation to the very last detail of the job, Mold Gone senior management was involved with the progression of the job. They routinely monitored the work and did a post-completion inspection. This company's customer service is SECOND to NONE. It is refreshing to know companies like Mold Gone still exist! Best ever!!!!
Description of Work: Unaware, for who knows how long, an upper floor bathroom vanity faucet had leaked down into a closed-off area in the basement, creating a serious mold growth problem in that room. Mold Gone set an evaluation appointment for us within a few days of the initial inquiry. Within a few days of that, a work team was assigned our job & dispatched to complete the project. The Mold Gone team was prompt, courteous AND, thoroughly cleaned up their work area when finished.

Purchased home from an estate that had been vacant several years, and had significant mold build up in partially finished basement. An air quality was done as part of a home inspection. MoldGone was only company that did not insist that they had to have their own test done first, and could not use home inspectors. Also many firms want a fee just to come out for an estimate. Joe from MoldGone came to my house, gave me an overview of what would be done, and provided an estimate next day. Scheduled the service two weeks later, the crew did everything in a day, and the results were excellent.

An overall incredible experience and I can't more highly recommend.
Description of Work: We found some mold in the basement of the house we just purchased (inside the drywall) and we called up Mold Gone based on the amazing reviews. I like to do simple DIY projects so I had taken out/cleaned most of the affected drywall before Jon came over, but I still wanted a professional opinion. Jon stopped by and did a very thorough review of the basement and even found some mold I hadn't seen. He also offered me some amazing tips for cleaning and preventing future problems. He was clearly an expert in his field. When I got out my checkbook and asked how much I owed, he said "no charge" and refused to budge on that stance despite my insistence.

We'd been noticing small spots on the walls in our basement over many years but they seemed to have multiplied a lot in recent years . I checked Angies List and no company even came close to the amount of good reviews and accolades that I read about MoldGone. I contacted Joe and he got back to me very quickly and came over a few days later. It was obvious from the first minute that he started talking that he was very knowledgeable and experienced. He very clearly explained what needed to be done and emailed me a proposal in a matter of days. This was one of the few times that I didn't get any other quotes because I was sure that he knew what he was doing and his price seemed reasonable for the amount of work his crew would have to do. This was a two day job...and his crew arrived at 9:30 am...right on time (I love when the happens!). Joe introduced the 4-5 men to me and let me know that Kevin would be the "go-to" man on this job. They were all men (very sweet to my cats!) and once the equipment was in the basement, I was able to work on the computer upstairs without any disturbance. The put up a plastic door to seal off the kitchen from the basement. It had a zipper which they used to go in and out. Very clever....keeps the chemicals and cleaners away from the rest of our house. My husband reminded me to ask about a small spot of mold on our telephone wall in our kitchen. Kevin was kind enough to try to clean it with their cleaner and it came right off...he cleaned very thoroughly around that whole area and we agreed that the Deer Park water jug against that wall must be the culprit. No big deal but it put our mind at ease....we certainly don't want to see mold in the main areas of the house! They worked non-stop til about 3 pm, at which point they called Joe to say they were ahead of schedule and had finished day 1 ...they zipped up the protective door, rolled up the protective floor covering that they had put down on our nice wood floor in the foyer, and left. The next morning they arrive preciously at 9 am and finished around noon. Joe was also here and the de-humidifier was put in (maintenance free and it doesn't look obtrusive at all!) and he gave me a tour of what was done at the end. It looked fantastic and it was great to see clean, painted walls again! I forgot to mention that they had moved all of our belongings and even a xtrainer and had covered them to protect them....The rec room looked so clean and fresh, that I actually asked them to NOT put all the stuff back on the big wall of shelves....This weekend we'll go through it all and only put back what we want down there. It'll be so clean and great! No more clutter and that's an added bonus! I must say I'd been dreading dealing with this mold for quite a few years. I just assumed it would cost a fortune and be a huge, noisy, messy repair, but it wasn't at all! With the help of Angies List and Joe, Kevin, and the whole crew at MoldGone, we are mold free and thoroughly pleased with the process from start to finish! (by the way, the guys were super careful not to leave the front door open since we have three indoor cats and I REALLY appreciated that!) Don't hesitate! You'll be so glad you addressed the problem! It was painless!
Description of Work: Clean the mold off our entire basement, including bedroom, bathroom, rec room, and unfinished utility room.Paint all surfaces with a coating to resistant future mold. Also, open a small area of one wall to treat for mold inside of the wall (from a small toilet leak from several years ago) Install de-humidifier to further prevent any future mold.

We discovered the mold problem on a Sunday. I find a few remediation companies on Angie's List, including Mold Gone. Mold Gone was the only company with Sunday hours listed, so I called and left a message. To my surprise, the message was returned a few hours later and an appointment was made for an estimate. Compared to other estimates I received, Mold Gone was higher in price. However, the detail in which Jon Gordon walked through my basement and inspected things was exceptional. Other companies only really inspected the areas which I pointed out, while Jon looked all over the basement for other areas impacted by the mold. I don't want to take any chances with mold, and Jon's thoroughness convinced me that Mold Gone was the company to hire. Jon initially informed me that the job would be scheduled about two weeks out. However, he called me the next day to offer me a cancellation slot that had just come up, which was only one week out. On the day of the job, Jon and his crew arrived on time. I was surprised to learn that Jon would be spending the day with the crew and helping out. He again walked through the home, and detailed what they were about to do. Throughout the day, the crew was extremely professional and friendly. They sealed the entire area off from the rest of the house, removed all damaged materials from the house (into a dumpster that Mold Gone had delivered and removed), thoroughly cleaned every exposed item and surface in the basement (including hundreds and hundreds of exposed toys - think Barbie dolls x1000), and fully rebuilt/sanded/painted all walls and moldings (looks like nothing every happened to the walls). Once they were done, the crew sprayed an earth-friendly anti-mold fog throughout the home to get any areas impacted upstairs and any small areas unreachable by wiping. Jon kept me informed of progress throughout the day. He also provided an itemized list of un-salvageable items for my insurance claim. Post-remediation, Jon also recommended an excellent HVAC duct cleaning company to clean and sanitize all air ducts. In summary, Mold Gone, Jon, and the entire crew was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the process. They alleviated all my concerns about mold.
Description of Work: We had significant mold damage in our basement due to standing water from a clogged A/C drain. Mold was present in the drywall, under carpeting, in the furniture, and various other places throughout the finished and unfinished sides. Mold Gone performed full mold remediation, including: -Removal of damaged furniture and items -Removal of damaged carpeting, carpet padding, tack strips -Removal and reconstruction of drywall and moldings -Treatment of basement walls with moisture barrier and anti-mold product -Thorough wiping of all exposed surfaces and items in the basement -Anti-mold fogging of three levels of home

I called and spoke with Joe Mulieri of MoldGone and told him that we had lived in our home two months and that we had a bad intermittent smell that was in the top floor front room of our 3 story townhome. The smell had gotten so bad at times that closing the door to the room did not keep the smell from seeping under the door and down the stairwell into the house downstairs on some days. We had already pulled up all the carpet, washed the walls, painted the bedroom?s walls and subflooring with shellac based primer called BIN (by Zinsser), and generally went nuts trying to get rid of the smell. I?m thinking dead bodies in the wall at this point. After a few questions he said that in our case the smell was probably caused by a roof leak because it was worse on rainy days or when the humidifier was on. If there was mold, it was probably inside the walls but most likely contained. There were no black spotted or bulging walls. Check. He said the roof should be repaired before MoldGone could do their job properly. If the roof was still leaking when he began remediation he explained, then mold would probably continue to grow. If water is stopped, mold growth is stopped. He said mold doesn?t die: it shuts down. (Yeah, right. I had flashbacks of the horror movies I saw when I was younger where things come to life for no reason at all. And this could be the Black Slime.) Anyway, with that information, double check on getting the roof repaired. Mr. Mulieri said he would have Jon Gordon contact me for an evaluation appointment. Mr. Gordon sent me an email the very next morning with his next open schedule times and we made an appointment for June 6. I called a roofer the day I spoke with Mr. Mulieri. But, they said a roof fix was at least two weeks away. I've never been admired for my patience. In the days before Mr. Gordon and Mr. Mulieri arrived we had mild dry weather. Maddeningly there was no mildew smell. (I imagined the little spores he-hawing away at my plight.) The MoldGone reps spoke with us anyway and spent the time educating us about their technology, methods and the habits of molds. Fascinating stuff. They went into the attic and found very small amounts of mold here and there but nothing to panic about and not the odor cause. But, they did find roof leaks that our ?home inspector? failed to find and that we can?t hold him liable for. Imagine me giving a Picasso scream here. We had them do their air quality testing on three floors. On the 16th of June testing showed that the air in our home was actually pretty close to outside air. That was good but confusing news because the smell was back. It had been raining. I decided to wait till the roof was on and wait a week to see if the mold would "go to sleep" and then I would go into alarm mode if it hadn?t. A week after the roof was finished the smell was still there. I guess I panic easily so I called Mr. Mulieri again and he advised me to wait another week because he was still hoping for mold hibernation (saving me money) and then call him back if the smell hadn?t gone. After another week the smell had diminished so much that I didn?t call him back. It has now been 5 weeks and the smell is gone. (Sometimes I think I smell it but I think it is probably the horror movie effect.) I have made the choice to leave the offending wall where the water leaked alone. It is an outside third story wall that will never be moved or remodeled. The monster is contained and will harm no one.

We recently purchased a distressed property that had not been properly maintained, and had significant moisture and mold issues in the fully finished basement. After speaking with a number of waterproofing contractors most of whom tried to sell us French drains, we decided (painfully) that the best way forward was to completely gut the basement to get rid of all the mold and start anew, as well as to do landscaping to steer the water away from the basement. For the basement work we wanted true remediation work, and contacted Mold Gone due to the great reviews on Angie's List. We were not disappointed. The owner Joe Mulieri came out to see us the day after we contacted him (July 4th). He patiently listened as we described the situation, and was very efficient and thorough in describing what he suggested we do. We were very impressed with how knowledgeable and professional he was. He delivered the proposal three days later at what we thought was a fair price, particularly after the 10% Angie's List discount. We had one other company come out, but we were unimpressed after having met with Joe. We discussed different aspects of the project at length with Joe over email, and after he agreed to do the job over a weekend to complete it by our requested date, we decided to pull the trigger. A large dumpster was delivered on a Friday to our home, and the job began on Saturday morning. I walked through the basement with Joe and the on-site leader Mike, and showed them what we wanted to keep, including our new HVAC system, the washer/dryer, and some other items. Mike then led the crew of four through two days of tear-out (which filled the dumpster and two additional trucks) and remediation. Mike was extremely friendly, professional, and communicative. For example, he came upstairs to let us know in advance that they were going to have to tear out more of the material around the chimney than we had initially hoped. On another occasion, I had left the property and my wife went to ask him a question about removing a medicine cabinet in the upstairs bathroom. Not only did he show my wife how to do it, he also loaned her his own utility knife to use overnight! The project finished early on the second day and Joe came out again to walk us through with Mike what they did. They answered all our questions and we were very impressed with the quality of the work. Two minor issues did arise -- they accidentally broke a large mirror that we had asked them to save, and they left several large standing pools of water in the basement from the cleanup of the floor. However, Joe immediately offered to give us a significant discount off the bill for both items, so we walked away completely satisfied. Overall an excellent experience -- highly recommend.
Description of Work: Completely gutted a finished basement with moisture/mold issues, treated the remaining surfaces to kill mold, and applied a fungicidal coating to prevent future mold growth.
