There were many times that he did not return my calls as promised and the day he scheduled finally was supposed to be there at 8 a.m. and when I called him over an hour after the designated time and left a message on his phone, then again an hour later when he answered the phone. The employees that he sent were nice and thorough. I didn't climb up on the roof to check the chimney but from what I can see from the ground, and when they were working they did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I feel badly that I cannot give him a good rating. The reason I started with an easy, inexpensive job was to see how they did. But even though the work was fine the coordination between the company and me was not as I had hoped for or expected. He was prompt coming to access the work, but lacking in execution of the work, scheduling and keeping me informed. It took way too long to get the work done. Three months is too long for a minimal job to be completed. It could have been completed while the weather was still comfortable to work on a roof but the day they finally came it was one of the hottest days we have had so far. I felt badly for the workers and if they had come in the 8 a.m time frame as they were supposed to the house would have been shaded and significantly cooler than 11 a.m. when they arrived.

They were out to give me a proposal within days of my call. The repairs were made in a timely manner, the workman arrived on time and walked me through what they were going to do. I was Emailed the proposals for approval prior to the work being started. The workers were very exacting, did excellent work and cleaned up all the debris and hosed down my patio and yard that was affected by the dust from grinding prior to leaving. .
Description of Work: Repair and add drains to a planter box in the front of my house. Re-point chimney from the top down and re-build crown with mortar.
G.O. Contracting was hired to repair and paint walls and ceilings, install new light fixtures, retile the bathroom floor and walls, add new vanity, medicine vm cabinet, and toilet, and generally make a hundred year old place look like new. They did a great Job! Nestor and his crew, especially Jaime, did outstanding work, and transformed 'below average' into a desire able place to live. Many thanks to Nestor for putting up with lots of input from me, and for patiently walking me through each phase of the project -I never imagined the condo could look this good.

Although owner came to property 2-3 times to provide estimate, he failed to respond to my emails and calls to schedule the actual work. He finally showed up to do the job when I contacted Angie's List to request a refund and they contacted him. We have other similar jobs that need to be done, so we were hoping to get a sense of the quality of this small job before hiring the company for others, but we were not especially impressed with the work they did. Although I'm no expert, my husband feels that he could have done the job himself, given the quality of the work. In summary, work was "ok" but had heck of a time scheduling with the company. I was especially aggravated that they were offering more "big deals" when it took a year-and-a-half to schedule ours! Others have posted similar complaints on this site re: this company.

The workers did a very thorough job of cutting open and filling the cracks above and filling the areas below. After 2 weeks one of the repaired cracks did not seal properly, so the company returned and redid the job. It's been several weeks since the redo, and the cracks seemed to be completely sealed.

First they came out to do an estimate for the project. They found all sorts of cracks and things they thought needed fixing and gave us an estimate and told us they'd apply the value of our deal. We told them we were using the deal to sample the quality of the work (we've had some crummy looking repairs from other masons). They were ok with that and scheduled a day for the work. Unfortunately, they then proceeded to reschedule for months! They blamed the weather, and it was a nasty winter, but I'm sure the small job played a factor as well. On the day we were finally scheduled, they didn't show at the scheduled time. We called and were told a guy was coming off another job and would be there around 5pm. When we expressed concern about one guy coming at the end of the day being able to do the project (and give us the four hours we paid for) they said they'd already done work and this guy was just coming to finish up. That was of course wrong and after some investigation on their end, they realized they were mistaken. We were then rescheduled one final time. We ultimately got two guys for two hours and they did a great job. The mixed a couple of mortar color options and tweaked them based on our feedback. The repair blends flawlessly and is the best work we've had done over the years. Totally worth the wait, and we'll definitely use them again.

Each time I did get to even think about them and the work, I have to call them but the two times that I did schedule it, it did rain. Because it rained the last time it was scheduled, I feel I've not heard from them since so I gotta call them again to stir them up and remind them. I purchased it, I think, back in April or March so it's been a while. While he was here, I did mention some additional work and he was supposedto be sending me some information and that was like two or maybe three weeks ago. So if that doesn't work, how do I get my $99 back? We were going over the renovation of my deck and I was expecting to hear from him and he's ripping us in two or three days and it has been almost two weeks now that I haven't heard a word. So I think I would just call him one more to know where he is and after that, I'm just gonna forget about it. What we talked about in redoing my deck, I think it was very, very reasonable. I haven't had a problem with what the final cost was that's why I have gone along with it. The initial visit and the visit to talk about the additional work, he was on time and he was very polite. He's a very nice man and very convincing.

They were responsive by phone and easy to schedule to perform the work. My only complaint was the cleanup. A good deal of the old mortar and brick debris was left lying where the repairs occurred. After a short time, it was nearly impossible to clean up as it settled in the yard/grass. But, as mentioned, the work itself looks great, the crew worked long days until they got the job done on time for a fair price.

I originally purchased a "Big Deal" offered by this company on April 10, 2013. It was for 4 hours of masonry work for $99.00. At first, I was able to reach him by phone but then I left messages, no return phone calls, and fortunately Mr. Gomez, the owner, was communicating with me by the message feature on Angie's List so my communication with the company is well documented. Mr. Gomez came out to look at the job. I could tell he was not enthused about the job because of the height of my chimney (second level of my home). This company had posted another "Big Deal" months later for 4 hours of masonry work for $200. Same conditions as the $99 deal other than increased cost. In both cases, no mention was made as service limitations or the service area. I am located in the Washington, D.C. metro area and both "Big Deals" include my county in Virginia. I cancelled the $99 "Big Deal" and purchased the $200 "Big Deal" on July 13 because as I told Mr. Gomez in my e-mail to him dated July 18 "I purchased the $200 deal on July 13, 2013 (order no. 766941) and cancelled the $99 deal I purchased on April 10 (order no. 641345) because I did not think you wanted to honor the $99 deal. Am I wrong?" Mr. Gomez did not reply to this. I was trying to get my job scheduled early fall 2013 because being on a roof in summer seemed cruel. I also wanted to be home when the work was performed. After going back and forth on dates, cancelling due to rain, unable to obtain leave from work, I decided on November 18, 2013, to postpone the work until spring 2014. We had a harsh and long winter. I did not want to send anyone on my roof when it was cold because of potential damage to my new roof (2 years old). I contacted Mr. Gomez on April 10, 2014, stating I was ready to get my chimney mortar repair done. We finally was experiencing good weather after a very harsh winter. Job scheduled April 25 - cancelled due to potential rain. Job rescheduled for May 2 - Mr. Gomez contacted me at 7 a.m. that morning asking that my job be rescheduled because he was backup with other jobs. Job rescheduled for May 9 between 8-9 a.m.- Waited all day and they never showed up. Mr. Gomez said they were working in McLean, Virginia (25 minutes north of my residence). He said he would check with them and let me know. He never did. I sent Mr. Gomez a message on May 24 asking when will my job be scheduled. He replied "let me check tomorrow." Since May 25, I have had no communication with Mr. Gomez, owner of G. O. Contractors Group LTD. Today is June 4, 2014. I am convinced he never intended to perform this work. He has strung me along for 1 year thinking he was going to perform this job. This is an huge disappointment. I intend to contact the Better Business Bureau, Checkbook magazine and State of Maryland Office of Consumer Affairs. After reading the company's reviews on Angie's List, I don't understand why this company is allowed to offer "Big Deals" and jerking people around by not fulfilling these deals. Angie's List...please require higher standards of companies offering these deals. This company is suspended from offering future deals.
Description of Work: This review is for G. O. Contractors Group Ltd., 2619 Kensington Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20902. This service provider did absolutely nothing. He strung me along for a whole year acting like he intended to do the work when in reality he never intended to do it.

They replanted a couple of lines of brick on the outside wall of my home. They re-pointed some mortar on the brick wall and repaired the wall along the patio as well. They repaired and replaced about 70 feet worth of the wall. I also paid extra for them to build an extra step going to my brick patio. They responded quickly and showed up on time. They had a crew of three and they worked diligently and had the project done in the time they said it would take. He worked with me on the price and we negotiated the price for the step. I was pleased overall.

They contacted me promptly and a man came out to look at the job in mid-March. He gave me his card and I sent him the Angie's coupon for the special. Because the weather was still so cold and wet, we agreed to schedule the work for April, but did not pick a date. Since then, I contacted him several times to schedule the work. (They never contacted me; I always had to make the first move.) The first time I got no answer. The second time, I got an email reply to expect an answer the following week. No answer. Finally, in late May (!!) I contacted them and got a reply and we discussed scheduling. They were supposed to come 6/2, but never showed up, or contacted me. I posted a negative review and Mr. Gomez called me to apologize, explaining that the rainy spring had been the problem. I explained my schedule and we scheduled the work for 6/16. It rained that morning and Mr. Gomez called promptly and said they would not be able to come, and we agreed to try again the day the weather permitted. He called at around 7 am the next morning and said the men would be there between 8 and 10; they arrived around 8:30 and did a very nice job and cleaned up after themselves. I am willing to give his business another chance, because the work was good, and they have done a good job for one of my neighbors as well. I am hoping Mr. Gomez improves his communications; the most frustrating thing was having to be so proactive in contacting him to find out what was going on. I work from home most days, so was not inconvenienced, but a homeowner who has to take time off (possibly losing wages) would be much less forgiving.

We had a thorough 1hr consultation, walked my property in early March and scheduled the work for April. He was friendly and reassuring. On the scheduled day of the job, they arrived on time. There were 4 guys who were to work all day for a total of 32 man hrs (4x8). The bad: The owner came, but did not remember all the details of our consultation, so I had to spend time re-explaining to him and the foreman, and 2 others looked on 15-20 mins passed (that's nearly a whole man hour!) then, their one tool for cutting branches and trees wouldn't work. It took two guys a whole half hour of trying before the saw "took". For cleaning winter leaves and flower beds, they brought NO tools. They had no rakes, blowers, or anything else, but rather was picking up debris with hands, so I gave them 2 rakes to use. It seems they might have picked up one or two of the guys on the fly to make up the 4 men, because the owner or foreman did not know all the names, and one of them was completely out of sync in terms of productivity. The job would have been done more effectively if they had brought professional tools for gardening. The afternoon was much better as they concentrated efforts on removal of the dead tree but my hopes of the backyard being mulched dissipated. The good: by the time they were done, the efforts of tree and branch removal was evident, and for the most part the guys were working throughout the day, The problem is that my expectations after our initial consultation was high as the owner had promised he could do so much more and I had prepared for this...but the backyard was hardly touched at all. I believed the $4000 worth of work for $1299 as advertised! They really needed to have had the proper tools. The ugly: they had to manually carry branches, debris t big stumps to a pile in the front, and then pick up from the ground to place in their van to bring to the county dump. I imagine they had to manually unload their van there too. Not even a tarp on which to collect debris for ease of pick up, much less a grinder! (Btw, it cost an extra few hundred bucks for disposal, but I am OK with this because I was prepared for it during the initial consultation.) When time ran out, they had to leave some yard waste in front of the house for pick up the next day, which I am sure cost them time away from another job. When I realized the job promised would not be completed, and I had a whole lot of mulch in my driveway, I had to frantically call someone to do the back at premium cost the next day. So, as I think about it, I would use them for jobs that merits the fee charged. I would have been happy if all my trees front and back were trimmed and the one tree removed as I wanted, and if I had left the mulching entirely to someone else as I originally planned. The owner suggested they could do the mulching too and I said OK. Either way, they would be well advised to invest in some tools, and prepare better for the job.

Your contractor on this deal is not being responsive. Showed up once to assess the job -- quoted me $275.00 more than the deal to do the job for which I agreed. We set 27 April to do the job, but weather caused a delay. We set another date and he never showed. Called him and he said that he would look at his schedule and call me back to set another date -- never did. I have now called and emailed several times and he is not responding.
