Description of Work: Same Day Service replaced my oven's "bake element" that had short-circuited and almost caught fire. I have used this company for other kitchen related repairs: they replaced my disposal and broken stove burner switch. For every repair I have been more than satisfied. Their repairmen are very knowledgeable, polite, and give good advice. My oven is an unusual model that is situated at the end of a countertop "L" that juts into the middle of the kitchen. I wouldn't have chosen it or the location, but it came with the house. Apparently it would be very expensive to replace because it is a custom model, so I keep getting parts fixed as they break. Same Day Service will try to save you money wherever possible, and you get a 10% discount coupon for any future work. Often they have the parts in their truck so the job can be done on the spot. Best of all, like their name says, they really do come on the "same day!"

Description of Work: Same Day Service was coming to install a part for my wall oven. I knew from the last visit that this was a quick repair so when I booked the install I asked for the earliest appointment. They confirmed twice that we were the 'first' call of the day. Therefore I thought this meant the 8:00 AM side of the 8:00 to 10:00 window. However, they called at 9:30 to say it would be 45 mins and it was as they came in at 10:15. There were two technicians that came as it seemed one was in training. They got to work and after about 10 mins the more senior technician attempted to make a joke about the time it would take for the repair. I was not up for any humor as I was now very late for a work meeting given their late start. So, I responded with the correct time which was 15 mins. Then the senior tech made a flip comment to me because I did not go for his 'this will take an hour and a half' joke. At that moment I let it slide, however, I now realize that this technician was rude, late and for the money I spent I deserved to be treated with more respect.

Description of Work: This was the best experience! Ever. I have a 1950's era stove that I have always loved. It came with my house, and even though the clock and timer have never worked, everything else about it has been excellent; including the heated receptacle for the built in salt shaker; in New England summers it's a godsend! Then there's the warming oven and the two huge storage drawers and the built in outlet. Well, the burners died, one by one, and the stove was showing it's age (oven still worked OK); and I decided it was time to purchase a new stove. Then the sticker shock! I couldn't really afford anything close to what I already had! So, I thought, for less than half the cost of a new stove that would be about a third as useful as the old one, maybe I could get it repaired. Along came Angie's list and the $49.00 offer and I jumped. Made the call, did the homework on the make and model of the stove, and found out that Same Day Service couldn't repair it for me. The man who answered the phone said: "We ran out of the wiring harnesses, and can't buy them anymore. Everyone who owns that stove loves it." Then he proceeded to explain what options I had. The burners were still available; told me where to get them; and, if I could find the right person, the wiring might even be repairable! And, no charge. My stove is fixed! I found the burners, found the right person, and it works better than it ever has!! And, no charge for the consultation!! Next time I need appliance service; they will get my first call! Oh, and total cost? Barely a third of the stove I would have purchased!

Description of Work: I called after hours and left a message. My call was returned promptly the next morning. They were willing to come out that day but I was unable to be there. Their repairman came the next morning and fixed the problem with my dishwasher in about 15 minutes. He had to replace the grinder blade. The service call charge call was waived as I had him do the repair. He was courteous and professional. My only complaint was that I thought $250.00 was a little steep for the job, but I don't know if I could have got it done for less.

Description of Work: Clothes washer was not running the spin cycle. A plumber had looked at the problem two days before and said it was the electrical cord. Same Day Service cam and diagnosed the problem was with the new electric drip detector that had recently been installed and there was no cold water coming out which prevents the spin cycle from running. Who knew?

Description of Work: Our gas dryer stopped working suddenly. I emailed three local companies. Only one responded "Same Day Service"....their response was within 12 hours. They scheduled service the same day without a fee for repairs. They arrived ON TIME..."Paul" was efficient and courteous. He went beyond the call of duty and performed extra services at our request...Our dryer runs like new. Still haven't received a response from the other two complanies that are within 5 miles of us. Many thanks to Paul and Same Day Service !

Description of Work: My caterer had placed a platter on my oven door and bent the hinges. After trying everything I could think of, I called Same Day Service. I got a call back immediately and the service was done Faster, better, and cheaper than I expected. I would definitely recommend them and I plan on using them again.

Description of Work: Wall oven made an awful sound and didn't hold temperature. I thought it would need replacement but this serviceman really knew his stuff. First, he gently pulled the wall unit out without scratching paint and other surfaces. He found and repaired the problem within 1 1/2 hrs and placed the oven back in its frame. We have used it many times since with no problem at all. He also told me about care of my other appliances - some new, some from the former home owner. A great investment. My first call will be to this company when the need arises.

Description of Work: My dryer stopped working on a Sunday. I called early Monday morning and they got someone to me that day by 10 AM. My lint exhaust had been improperly installed so it and the dryer were packed with lint and some parts were burned out. He was there for the better part of 3 hours cleaning it out, reventing, fixing, and testing the machine. Very professional. Wish I'd gotten his name. I recommend this company without any doubt.

Description of Work: I called this company today and told them that my dishwasher was out of warranty and that I needed to have it fixed. She asked me how old the machine was and when I told her I was only 5 months out of warranty, she said that if it were her dishwasher she would have called Whirlpool and complained to have it fixed for free. I did just that and they're coming tomorrow morning, for free. She gave me the best advice and I would not hesitate to call this company when another of my appliances breaks down. That's the way to do business!

Description of Work: Had a problem with my 20-year old plus washing machine. Agitator wouldn't turn. Called the office around 10:30 AM and was told somebody would be by before the day was over. At 12:30 PM, Tech #84 (Bruce) came by. Checked out my situation and resolved the problem. Was very happy with the amount charged. Very reasonable. And Bruce answered all my questions very thoroughly and was a pleasure to work with. This was my first experience with this company but if won't be my last!
