 + -1 morePerfectly. I called Tuesday 5/29, and was told that they were booking for Wednesday b/c of the holiday, and they were very busy. Service man called ~2p said he was on his way and arrived by 2:30. Upon arrival he got right to it - explained what was going ot happen, and held true to it. He was done and gone in 1.5 hrs. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional and even gave me a few pointers on my stove. His name was Kim and he was great. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: Defrosted freezer, replaced two parts to make it work again.

 + -1 moreThe refrigerator in the house we had just bought would not rise above 25 degrees, freexing everything. Kim, the technician came out, took the fridge apart and found the baffle regulating temps between the freezer and refrigerator wasn't working and had been tampered with. It turned out to be a loose electrical connection. He repaired the connection, wiped own the whole refrigerator and told me to let it stabilize for 24 hours. It's been working great ever since!
Description of Work: troubleshoooting why the refrigerator wouldn't warm up over 25 degrees.

Description of Work: Our oven broke and they came out to fix it. They needed additional parts and it would cost $372 to fix a very basic electric oven. We opted to just pay the $80 estimate fee and think it over some more. He tried to fix the drawer underneath but the old plastic bracket had broken.

 + -1 moreI bought the big deal for appliance servicing that was listed and marketed to me and the service area is listed as "Entire Area". Inspite of reading reviews who complained about not being serviced, I thought this wouldn't be an issue since I was in 01545 zipcode and their website listed Marlborough, MA as one of their service locations which is less than 15 miles away from me. This is definetly not professional on part of Angies list or this company to continue to list "Entire Area" as their service area wasting my time. Now I have to call Angies List to get a refund. What a Pain.

 + -1 moreIn both cases, I was very impressed with the service. The over-the-phone scheduling was quick and easy, and since I didn't actually need service on the same day, it was easy to have them come on a time that was convenient. Both times, the technicians have called ahead to let me know they were 30 minutes away. In the case of both the dishwasher and oven, the technicians quickly diagnosed the problem, had the tools and equipment on hand to fix it immediately, and were courteous and professional. Not for nothing, they were both also very patient with our annoying cat. Hopefully I won't have to use them much, but they're my go-to for appliance repairs, and I would certainly recommend them.
Description of Work: Two separate repairs: Bosch dishwasher (failed wiring) and GE oven (an aged and broken igniter in the oven). Replaced wiring in the dishwasher, and replaced igniter in the oven. Amount spent was for the total of both repairs.

 + -1 moreThe dispatcher was very professional and said they service our town -- an appointment was scheduled. The repair guy showed up and was very professional. He said this happens all the time and took about 45 minutes from coming into the house, until he left (after the paperwork was finished). The cost was more than my doctor charges. The labor rate to snap the old part out and put the new one in, was $330! THAT'S $440 PER HOUR! We later found out that the labor rate in our area is about $90 per hour. There was nothing we could do about the overcharge -- but if YOU use these guys, you'd better have a blank check and plenty in the bank ready to hand over!
Description of Work: Our newer refrigerator quit working. When I went online, I found out the problem was a common one with these refrigerators -- a voltage switch that kicks in the compressor had quit -- the part costs about $30 retail. But since I was not going to be in town, and my wife could not fix it, we relied on Angie's List to find a recommendation.

 + -1 moreTerrible scheduling system and extremely rude and excitable customer service woman.
Description of Work: I called Same Day Service for a dishwasher repair. The woman receptionist said they would come between 8-6:00 for same day service. I explained there was no rush; the machine was working and the only problem was the door would not stay in half-open position. She told me for any appointment in the future they could not give me a specific time; they would call and say when they were coming between 8-2:00 or noon-6:00. If I did not answer the phone, they would not come. I asked could they do better then six hours for a call telling when they would come. She said no--"Go out and bring a cell phone with you." I told her I was a senior and only had a landline. She heard me asking my wife about hers and said, "Use hers." I explained that my wife was often out and needed her cell phone because she is on call for various duties with our many grandchildren. I asked if this meant on the 12-6:00 schedule I would have to stay near the home phone and that it was possible they wouldn't call till 5:30 or so. She said yes, got extremely rude and said that's the way it is. She ended up hanging up on me. Since then I have found companies both with specific times they come and ones with 1-2 hour time windows. The only reason I used this company in the first place is the high Angie's rating. I would advise people not to use any company with a 6 hour window and that is just for the call to tell you when they are coming. The economy is slow and there are many good companies with 0-2 hour windows.

Finished at 5:00 on a Friday and asked if there was any other work I needed done. That to me is fantastic service. Would recommend them and definitely use them again. A pleasant experience.

Description of Work: They were called because my ice maker was making a very loud noise and I was afraid it was going to break. The technician took it out and replaced it and it was fine. Also called because my oven had not been heating properly and smelled of gas whenever I tried to use it. They diagnosed the problem had the part and replaced it within 30 minutes everything was done.

 + -1 moreOur dishes weren't clean after we ran a full cycle. We called Same Day Service at 9 am on Monday morning and the repair person was in our kitchen by 9:15 am! Greg was polite, friendly and efficient. He explained what was wrong. He had the part in his truck (the dispatcher had assured us that their trucks carried > 3000 appliance parts.). He took the 10% Angie's discount off the final price without even asking. He cleaned up when he was done. The entire call lasted no more than 20 minutes.

 + -1 moreOur 7-year-old Kenmore dishwasher started making a loud buzzing sound during the middle of a cycle on Thursday. When I couldn't find the cause by running it empty of all dishes and checking fixtures, I called Same Day Service on Friday morning, and Andrew showed up on Saturday morning. (True to its name, Same Day offered to have someone at the house Friday afternoon, but we couldn't meet them then.) He listened to the dishwasher, figured out not enough water was getting into the waste food disposal and replaced a clogged water valve, installed a new chopper assembly, and cleaned out the sump in quick order. It now runs quietly and smoothly.
Description of Work: The company replaced a water valve and installed new chopper assembly in our Kenmore dishwasher, which had started making a loud buzzing sound when running.

 + -1 moreIt went great! Service man (Andrew) was polite, professional, thorough. When he realized there was another part needing to be replaced, he didn't raise the price..because he said he didn't realize it until he go the other parts out. On Thurs that extra part was ordered...he said it would be a few days. On Friday I got a call that the part was in, and they said they could come SATURDAY to replace it. Same tech (Andrew) came back and replaced it...I think it took a bit longer than expected...but all is done and it turned out great! We now have a working dishwasher! Price was a bit higher than I expected, but I didn't realize the other problems besides the filter. I would strongly recommend this company!
Description of Work: I had a problem with my dishwasher...dishes coming out dirty. I told the appliance repair man that I thought it was just clogged filters. He checked everything and found out that in addition to the filters being dirty, there were several other issues. After calling for part prices, and taking into account the 10% off Angie's List Coupon, it was $355. After working a bit he said he discovered another piece that was cracked and needed replacing. I held my breath..but he said since he already quoted the price, he wouldn't charge any more! Wow! So he replaced a piston which was causing the dishwasher to leak onto the floor below (never knew!) and some other piece. The final part (no charge) needed to be ordered and would take a day or two.

 + -1 morePeople make mistakes, and how Same Day Service dealt with this particular mistake really showed me how great this company is. They were extremely reponsive, punctual, and come to our house and fixed the problem the second time with ease. Each time I have called them they have come by within a matter of hours. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I had a very loud sound coming from my side-by-side GE refrigerator. Specifically the freezer section. Same Day Service diagnosed the problem and ended up fixing the ice maker immediately, they had the parts in their truck which was great. A few weeks later the sound returned, so at no cost they replacement the other part that was broken (sorry I forget the technical name).

When I asked the guy about the dryer knobs, he said he could order them and replace them but gave me the phone number and said if you order them you don't have to pay me to replace them. I ordered the parts and when they came it was just a snap on thing. That worked very well. They came when they were supposed to and they got it fixed in a short span of time. They actually saved me money by giving me the information to call about the dryer knobs myself.
Description of Work: They replaced a belt on my washing machine and they gave me some information on where to find knob parts for my dryer.
