Our washing machine broke on a Sunday night, we called Monday morning to have a repair man come out. We requested someone come in the morning and they came out just as they said. The repair man confirmed the machine was beyond repair and just charged us the service call fee, apparently it would be more expensive to fix it than to purchase a new one.

They came to check our oven. We were having problems with the temperature. When they got here, they noticed that I had replaced the 4 burners on top of the stove, and because of that they said that they couldn't do the service. They never really said why they couldn't and I would assume that the technician was just following his company policy. I give them an "A" because the technician was following company policy.

First: they live up to their name. They answer the phone promptly, they are courteous, personable, and alert on the phone, and they get service out to you right away. The service technicians are knowledgeable and courteous. Second: They came on Friday and replaced our defrost controller unit. When it became clear, the next day, that the freezer still wasn't working properly, they immediately sent out a technician, who determined that the fridge is suffering from a sealed system issue, which would cost more to repair than a new fridge of the same model. They are refunding Friday's work (except for the initial $90 minimum service charge), and have given me the diagnostic ammo I'll need to fight with Maytag for a replacement fridge (since ours is, apparently, a lemon).

The guy was really nice and knew his stuff. He essentially counseled me to clean my dishwasher periodically and make sure that the water was hot that was coming to it. He didn't have a more nuanced diagnosis, but sometimes that's not possible.

Called in AM and had to wait about 10 minutes on hold before talking to someone. The woman who eventually answered took the information about our broken washing machine and told me that a service person would call me back. About an hour later I got the call and described the problem in more detail to the service man. I was told that the problem was 90% likely to require a new motor stator, which they did not have in their parts inventory and might take 4-7 days to obtain. He said he would check to see if he could get the part sooner. He called back a little while later and said that they would be able to get the part by the next day. The guy came around noon the next day. He looked at the machine and confirmed the problem and also asked if I wanted him to install the new dryer vent that I had sitting near the dryer for an extra $60. I told him to go ahead. He finished the repairs in about 1 1/2 hours. He tested both machines to make sure they worked correctly.
Description of Work: Replaced motor stator assembly in front loading LG washing machine and installed new vent ducting for dryer.

I called on a Saturday and the person on the phone thought they might have a problem getting someone that day. Since nothing was leaking, etc., I set up an appointment for the following Monday. They called about 30 minutes before they came. Mike looked at the dishwasher and thought I needed a new part. He said they'd order it and it should be available in about a week. When I called to check in a week later (I don't think they called me), they said the part was ready and we set up an approximate time. They called and I was heading home on the T. When I walked up to my house, they were waiting on the stairs. They installed the part and it's working fine.

Forget them. They think they're too special. What about the customer?
Description of Work: I called up to get an estimate and was told they could only provide a full day slot when I'd need to be within 30 minutes from home. Their initial fee for the visit was higher than other firms. The woman was inflexible and a bit condescending. Maybe they are so big they have forgotten about customer service. I used another Angiels firm Boston & Cambridge Repair for less dough and a two hour window.

Wayne and Jeff were terrific. Wayne diagnosed the problem and cleaned the dishwasher. He pointed out that the prior owners had used too much soap and cleaned up the fouled parts. He also asked if I needed any advice with any of our other appliances and showed us how to work the ice maker on the refrigerator. Jeff came and got everything going fine. They showed up when they said they were going to and were great to work with.

I thought I was going to have to spring for a new refrigerator since I already knew that the compressor fan was completely dead and the coils were caked with 15 years of dust and grime (who knew you had to clean them) so I assumed that the compressor was probably shot too but thought it'd be worth it to take a gamble on a service call just in case I was lucky. Alex from Same Day Service showed up with an assistant in training and cleaned the coils and replaced the compressor fan right away after I approved what I think was a fair quote. He also provided me with a brush and showed me how to clean the coils in the future, explained what probably happened and now, hopefully, everything will be back to normal once the refrigerator recycles...(it was). From my initial telephone call to Same Day Service for an appointment, to Alex's courtesy call from the road that I was his next stop to his wonderful service and pleasant personality, I was very impressed with the whole experience from this company, not to mention that I am probably going to save a lot of money not having to buy a new refrigerator. I will definitely call Same Day Service again if an appliance needs repair.

Wayne came as promised the day after I called and made an appointment. He called 30 minutes before coming. He disassembled the trash compactor and determined that it would cost about $300 to repair. I retrieved the smelly trash, decided not to have it repaired, and Wayne put it back in place. I will replace it when I get my kitchen redone. As a bonus, Wayne fixed two burners on my gas stove that weren't working. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, and I would definitely use this company again.

I had an LG refrigerator that was completely dead, no power. I called LG Service only to be told that they do not do service in my zip code. They suggested I call their authorized repair vendor. When I called I was answered by a recording stating they were unavailable for the two weeks, ridiculous. I called Same Day Service and they were very professional and courteous. They took all of my information, told me it would be $89 for an onsite visit which would be refunded if I used them for the repair. I asked to have a tech dispatched. The tech called prior to coming onsite to give me an eta and troubleshot the unit over the phone with me. He determined I had done everything I could and a site visit was needed. He arrived onsite as scheduled, diagnosed the unit and discovered what Google had already told me was that the main PCB had died and needed replacing. The tech worked with his office to check on the availability and price for the part. I was provided a full quote immediately to order the part and install it. $368 total. I approved the work. The tech put everything back together and ordered the part. After approx. 2-3 days the part arrived. I was called and advised that they could come out immediately and complete the repair. The tech arrived as promised and got the unit back up and running very quickly. Everyone I dealt with at SDS was extremely polite and professional, I will definitively be using them again.

When I called this company, they said they worked with landlords regularly, and that they would come to my tenant's apartment, assess the situation, and then call me with an estimate so that I could approve or not the work. This sounded great. To my utter dismay, they came, assessed the situation, and then proceeded to do the repairs, all without checking with me. When I called them the next day to find out what happened, I was told by a manager named Dale he said that their normal policy is that they call the landlord before making any repairs, but that they also use their judgement to decide to proceed or not. What??? That's pretty much the opposite (and what happened) to getting my authorization. Dale was not apolgetic at all. In fact, he took the position that most landlords would have wanted the repair man to make the change, so I was somehow in the wrong for expecting to get an authorization call. When I tried to speak to point out inaccuracies in his statements (he said his repairman called me, yet I had voice mail or missed call), he would speak over me. The first time it happened, I thought he couldn't hear me, so when he finished his monologue, I asked if he had heard me trying to speak. He said yes! I then explained that a professional courtesy is to let the customer speak. I did all of this in a very calm, even voice. We continued to talk about the situation. Or, I should say that Dale continued to tell me that I was wrong for expecting an authorziation call becauswm most landlords (by his magical assessment) would have wanted the repair done. It was such a bizarre point of view that I somehow had to accept that they did not do what they promised to do because Dale decided that I should have been like most landlords. Multiple times I pointed out that it's all about expectation setting - if their policy is to not get landlord authorization and just use their judgement, they just tell landlords when they call. My issue with the situation is that I had been very, very clearly told they would do no work without my authorization. Two more times in this discussion, Dale talked over me loudly. It's very unusual to encounter someone in a customer-based business who does not treat their customers with respect. I finally lost it and just yelled full on! Totally lost my cool, which I'm embarassed to say. It takes a lot to get me riled up, and the complete lack of professionalism and accountablity on their mistake put me over the edge.

Here at Same Day Service Company Inc., we take pride in the fact that we have been servicing customers for 20+ years and have over 180,000 of them. During that time, we have serviced thousands of landlords and property managers. We want our customers to be happy and take every effort to ensure that they are. In this case, there are many details that the customer simply left out. We appreciate the opportunity to provide those details so you may decide for yourself. There were four employees involved in this situation, including two managers that tried to work out a solution with this customer. Unfortunately, they were not able to reach a positive outcome. The situation was escalated to me with the goal of everyone being satisfied. I spoke to the customer, listened to her side of the situation, and apologized that she was not happy with our service. I then tried to explain our position and solve this in an amicable way. Regrettably, the customer began yelling loudly and using profanity. We respect our customers, but we also respect our employees and feel that it is wrong for anyone to be subjected to this type of verbal abuse. The customer threatened to use “Angies List” as leverage in order to get the results she wanted. She said if she knew about a 250.00 repair up front, she would have bought new. She said that we never called her, and this simply is not true. I spoke with the tenant personally and she confirmed that she witnessed the technician try at least three times to reach this customer. The tenant also tried herself to call the customer and was not able to reach her. The technician’s mobile phone records will confirm that he did indeed try to contact her multiple times. At this point, the situation was a dire one. The technician was in the home and could complete this repair. We could not reach landlord to authorize, so there were only two choices: leave and collect a service charge of $89.95 for no work completed and leave a refrigerator leaking (which could cause more damage to the floor), or repair the machine and make a judgment call of what we think the landlord would want us to do. The tenant clearly wanted the unit repaired and even offered to pay for it herself. In this case, the technician made the decision to proceed with repair based on his 20 year experience, what was in the best interest of the land lord and the tenant. The customer was offered many different options on how to resolve the situation. I offered to show her the technician’s mobile phone records to prove that we called many times, but she refused. I offered a 100% full refund if she provided the proof that she bought a new refrigerator (she had said she would of bought new if she knew the repair would be $250). She said that this was unreasonable, and refused the full refund. Finally, I offered a full refund if she wanted us to pull the part we installed, so the machine would be exactly as it was before we repaired it. Again, she refused this option as well. We receive a good amount of business from Angie’s List, and we do not make decisions based on threats. As stated above, I offered many different solutions, but the customer was just looking for a free repair. We do free repairs for people in need but this was clearly someone taking advantage of us. We take pride in what we do, and we’ve been known for the fast, friendly, dependable service that we’ve been providing for over 20 years. Unfortunately, not every single customer will be satisfied 100% of the time, but we always offer different solutions and helpful methods on how to solve any negative situation that may arise. Unfortunately the estimate for the repair was almost as much as a new machine. The service man showed the broken pieces and explained in detail what the repair would entail. I chose to buy a new machine and the service man gave me some very helpful information on selecting a new washer.

I am thinking about Same Day Service right now because I just called them to schedule service for our dishwasher which is not turning on. Before scheduling an appointment for service, they spent time with me on the telephone (their suggestion) trying to trouble shoot the problem in order to save me the expense of a service visit. I love this company. They are reasonably priced and always know what they are doing and they are always ready to go the extra mile. In fact, I am ALMOST happy about having to schedule a visit for the dishwasher because I feel like I owe them money!
Description of Work: They fixed our Thermador built-in oven. It cost nothing because we had previously entered into a service plan with them on the oven when they came for a service call a year earlier. I will see them again this week because our dishwasher is not turning on.

When attempting to find a repair service for my Sub Zero wine cellar I contacted Same Day Service Company based on their web site. They were my third choice since my first choice did not handle Sub Zero repairs and my second choice couldn't make an appointment as early as I wished. Same Day Service clearly indicated that they were not authorized by Sub Zero for warranty repair; however, they did indicate that they were certified to repair Sub Zero appliances. The repairman arrived on a timely basis for our appointment and after inspecting the unit reset and restarted the unit. He asked me to monitor it and would call me the next day to check on its progress to cool to the proper temperature. Some time in the night the unit shut down again indicating the need for service. Same Day ordered a circuit board replacement and installed the new circuit board when it arrived after several days. The unit was again restarted and again shut down after several hours of operation. Same Day returned and determined that they could not repair the unit and refunded the cost of repairs ($600.00) except for two service calls of about $90 each.

The tech came on schedule the same day we called. My husband said he was a very nice "kid", very respectful and professional. He diagnosed the problem and ordered a part that would take 4-8 business days to arrive. They called when it arrived and the tech returned 1 week after the initial visit to do the repair. Unfortunately, when he installed the part, he realized that the problem was diagnosed incorrectly. He was extremely apologetic, but the fridge needed to be replaced. So, we had lived without a fridge for a week and then it wasn't even fixed. Bummer. They removed the charge for the repair visit and the part due to their error, but we still had to pay for the initial service visit charge. My husband called to see if they would consider removing that charge due to the inconvenience of the incorrect diagnosis. They agreed to credit us the amount toward a future service. The manager who responded to his request was professional and reasonable. It seemed like an honest mistake and we'd still use them again.
