Antoniel Painting & Finish

We hired Antoniel through an angieslist deal to help with a exterior board some woodpeckers had demolished (along with more damage up the side of the house). We paid for 3 hours of labor -- they contacted us promptly to schedule, and were on site within the first hour of the window they said they would come in (one of the two people came in the first 10 minutes and let me know Antoniel would be there in about 30 min, he was). They were so efficient that they completed all of the repairs I had originally wanted, replaced a board on the other side of the house that was both extremely difficult to reach and very high up as well as replacing some rotten boards on my garage. The work looks great, and they were excellent communicators. I would hire again.

The professional from Antoniel Painting arrived promptly in the morning and got right to work. Our house is old and we have no idea how long the wallpaper has been there. We just wanted him to remove as much as he could in eight hours. He did an excellent job, removing wallpaper in our living room, stairway, and most of our bedroom in the time he was here. We would use them again.

slightly poor communication at first, but otherwise these guys did a great job, and were able to manage well even tho I wasn't at the site when the work was done.

Trim boards were replaced as requested. I asked for some additional work(painting) to be done separately and they were able to complete it same day.

Despite some communication difficulty at the outset I was happy with the final result. Being specific about expectation is key. They were responsive to my concerns and fixed as I requested.

Window sills are not easy to replace. If you are not careful, you can destroy the window frame. They were pros, they went to work, carefully cut out the old sills and replaced and caulked them promptly. In turned out that a number of shingles were rotted, too and they replaced those as well. I will have them back for more work.

Impeccable job. Antoniel cleans up before he leaves, even before job is done. And has a "can do" attitude. Very conscientious and creative/resourceful. He's my new "go to" guy for all my carpentry/remodeling/painting jobs.

Good after we had a mixup on the times

There were significant communication issues. Some of it may have been my misunderstanding, but it was still frustrating. I'm not sure how much of the difficulty I faced was because of using an Angie's List coupon. When I contacted them to book the job, I said I wasn't sure how much time the job would take, but the person who scheduled the work didn't really know (or even ask questions that would help her figure out) whether the job was possible in the amount of time the coupon was for. I would have been fine with paying an hourly rate for any work beyond the 8 hours, but there really wasn't a good option for getting them to estimate the job as a whole job. I wouldn't use a coupon like that again. The person who came to do the work spoke very little English, so it was hard to communicate about how long the job might take or what he would need or do. The scheduler also hadn't made it clear what I needed to provide vs. what they'd provide. She said I needed to provide primer and paint, and they would bring tools and drop cloths. But on the day of the job, she said I needed to provide the paint rollers and plastic to protect the furniture (I thought that's what drop cloths were for). I asked her specifically what rollers to get and she wasn't at all detailed--she said I should get "one big, and one small." I asked her if there was more detail that I'd need at the store--like if there are different diameters, and she said no, there are standard sizes. So I ran out to the hardware store to face a wide array of options. So I got 3 variants and when I showed them to the painter, he said neither small one was right. Different diameter (ha!). It took 3 trips to the store to get the right size and texture of roller. Then turns out not to have mattered because he didn't end up finishing the job to the point of needing the roller. The skim coat (which I hadn't known was necessary) took too long to dry so he couldn't prime and paint the wall that day at all. They say they'll extend the coupon for another day's worth of labor at a similar price, but I'm ambivalent about whether I want to use them again. On one hand, the ceiling looks great--he did a very nice, professional job--and the price was remarkably good. On the other, the communication issues and hassles and not being sure they'd finish the job next time either makes me doubt whether it's worth even the low price. If you get a binding estimate from Antoniel (who does speak English well) directly rather than using a coupon, you might have a different experience.

Max from Antoniels did an an amazing job painting my living room !! From the prep work to the finish, I couldn't have asked for better results! My room is 22" X 12" and was finished in less than 8 hours ! Antoniel's Painting and Finish must be very proud to have Max represent them.

Antoniel is very good and does very professional work. However, some of his workers were sloppy, so we had to have Antoniel come back and clean up a few punch list items. There were some significant paint drips and areas of the trim that did not have enough paint coverage. I would suggest if you use Antoniel you inspect the work in daylight before full payment.

I purchased the 3 hour restoration services for 3 skylights on Angie's List for $128. The final price and estimate was not given to me upfront despite I emailed very good quality pictures. I had an impression that this is enought time to finish the job. I only find out that I end up with $300 extra more than 3 times of original price, when they started to work and sanded one window. Wood sanding went well, but I wasn't told what to expect, that staines would stay after poliuretaine finish. I would told them to use nonetransparent paint. I would end up with more money to change it. They also left garbage after them self in corner of the driveway. I am disappointed with this typical tricks get the price up after job is already started.

Antoniel and his team did a great job. They removed all the old wall paper and reconditioned all the walls, ceilings and trim in several rooms to new condition. We have a couple units in this building, and the difference between those reconditioned by Antoniel and those not touched is dramatic. Great work and much cheaper/simpler than replacing the sheetrock and trim. I would highly recommend his work and hire him again!!

He spent a total of three visits at my house to perform the work.

Oh boy where do I start. First of all, they didn't support the house while they removed the sill plate - meaning the corner of the house was just floating in mid air. Fortunately no one was in there at the time. Next, he attempted to use untreated lumber for the sill plate. HE WAS GOING TO PUT UNTREATED WOOD ON TOP OF SLOANE CINDER BLOCK FOUNDATION 8 INCHES OFF THE GROUND in a place obviously already prone to attracting wood rot. I asked if it was pressure treated and Antonio said yes, he thought so. I asked him to show me receipt because it didn't look like it. The receipt said nothing about pressure treated so I called the lumber yard he bought it from. They said they don't even sell pressure treated. Antonio tried to blame it on the lumber yard "I told them I wanted pressure treated". I said he should have been able to tell by looking at it. Then he tried to blame the guy he was working with. I also asked him a number of times if he had Tyvek to put up and he said yes. After I got off the phone with the lumber yard Antonio went to lowes to get pressure treated wood. When I asked for the receipt, it also showed he bought Tyvek - despite the fact that he repeatedly assured me he had Tyvek prior to the lowes run....In other words, he wasn't going to put any house wrap on if I hadnt asked and even then he lied to me. I had to stand over his shoulder and make sure he did what he said. He then put up the siding with no template to make sure the pieces were overlapping the same amount as the ones above and below. (they weren't...nor were they level). When he said he was done I looked over the job and within 10 seconds found significant cracks in the siding, some crudely filled with caulk, some not. He agreed to replace it but given that it was siding I already purchased on my own, it was a massive waste of my money. Bottom line is: he tried to rip me off. He then lied multiple times when I called him on it. And he did a miserable job to boot. Oh and he showed up an hour and fifteen minutes late to start the day.

2 people here for 4 hours only then said they needed to let those dry before they could sand, prime, and paint. If they continued stripping wallpaper in an adjacent room we would need to then have those sanded, primed and painted for an additional cost. However, once they came for day #2i it didn't appear those walls needed to dry before priming and painting. And, those walls were not sanded. After returning, those walls were still not sanded properly but were painted. Had to have them back yet again to skim coat the walls that were not properly repaired. Can still see where old wallpaper paste was. Very disappointed.

We were very pleased with the outcome and very happy to work with Antoniel and his staff. They were punctual and very hard working. We were contacted anytime there was a change in plans and they went out of their way to complete the project as quickly as possible to minimize any inconvenience to us. I also thought that the price was fair since I had been given other estimates to repair only the sections with water damage and they were comparable to Antoniel's price for the entire job.

The gentleman I spoke with over the phone was very nice and charming, unfortunately when we discussed what kind of windows I had, he advised that they did not do casement windows and it was also noted within the ad and he was very kind and professional in not making me look like an idiot for overlooking it. He advised me to contact Angie?s List for my refund. He was very knowledgeable, professional, thorough and asked all the right questions to find out what he needed to know. I would highly recommend their services to others.

Everything went well. They seemed to know their profession well with good advice about how to prep the walls for a long lasting painted finish. When they first arrived, they looked carefully at the job and decided the best way to go about repairs, etc. Since it was a hallway and not one room, it had high ceilings in the stairwell area. We had already removed about 1/2 of the wallpaper and started the process of fixing some of the damages to the old horse hair plaster. Due to not having to take all the wallpaper off, they seemed to be able to take their time and concentrate on filling holes and cracks in the wall. This was very important to us because the walls will be painted and not wallpapered. We are very happy with the results and I believe they did a much better job than we could have due to their experience.

Antoniel and his crew are outstanding. My house had several areas of neglect and the entire outside has been transformed beautifully. Antoniel does excellent work, offers suggestions, and is a complete professional. I would highly recommend him.
