Antoniel and his team were very professional. They did detailed work on my old trims of my house that had been neglected for many years, longer than I should actually. I did not think they would be able to save some of the trim work but they restored my fascia and painted my shingles to make them look like a new home. They took caution in doing the exterior work and guided me through the process and gave advice on how to maintain my exterior paint for durability. I am very pleased with the results and would hire him and his team again should the opportunity arise. I highly recommend his company and work to anyone looking for an honest hardworking team.

I had beautiful hardwood under a carpet on my stairs. Antoniel and team removed the carpet and refinished my wood floors by sanding, staining and varnishing. I can't believe I lived with the carpet for so long not knowing the gem i had beneath it. I would recommend them to anyone looking for honest professional workmanship.

It was pretty difficult to get in touch with these guys and had to make a complaint to angies-list as i didn't hear from them. We finally scheduled a date and the guys did show up on time. I had two window well covers that were beaten up and needed to be replaced. The said they would use treated wood....they didn't. Wood for last for 20-years. Already cracking and loose. Sloppy work.

I hired Antoniel to repaint my exterior with existing color. My house if Victorian and it required the thin lines of additional colors around the trims, windows and detailed porch.I have 4 colors on the exterior of the our house which has very intricate work. They had some delays due to the weather but were still able to complete the work in a timely fashion even with cold weather. I would recommend Antoniel Painting and team to anyone looking for detail oriented and professional team.

Antoniel and team was originally hired to remove my wallpaper. I assuming removing the wall paper I would just be able to paint right over it which is not true. Come to find out our wall was horse hair and had many damages to it due to the glue being stuck for so long and the wall being soft due to water damage. Antoniel's team did a detailed job at skim coating and patching the areas that had huge holes and did a nice plaster job on my wall. They returned to sand the entire wall and leave it ready for painting. He also removed my popcorn ceiling and re-plastered it.

I hired Antoniel now for the 3rd time. He was hired form a reference to do my wallpaper removal in my living room which made it look dated and our of style. We also had him and his team come back to skimcoat our horsehair wall. I finally agreed that his team should also finish the work by painting the wall. we received several quotes for the work before deciding to go with Antoniel and his price was right around the market price in the middle and he even gave me an additional discount for being a repeat customer. The paint work was very professionally done and I am so pleased with my new sanctuary.

Antoniel's team is just great! This crew is so professional they seal off the area they are working on and assure that the dust does not go to the rest of the house. They clean up after they are done with vacuum and dry mop. I hired Antoniel's team to do my living room and remove wallpaper. They were so easy to work with and Antoniel gave great advice to my project and assured it met my budget and overall vision. I had them come back to plaster, paint and do carpentry work. Antoniel's team installed crown molding on my new living room which gave it a very modern and clean feel. I am so happy with my living room and can now finally enjoy it with out seeing those ugly walls. I can't thank Antoniel and his professional team enough for coming into my life.

Antoniel and Carla were friendly and responsive and arrived promptly to our house to discuss the project. Although the deal was for $4,999, our house is 3 stories and so there were additional charges, including a porch and garage. We understood that this would be a big project. They came back with a quote of around $13,000, which was not unreasonable but I'm not sure where the huge discount was since that's the same quote we received from several other painters. They put together a one page "contract" that was barely a proposal and included zero information on insurance or indemnification in the event they caused an accident or damage while painting. We asked that they use a contract that is compliant with the Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractors Statute, Mass. G. L. c. 142A because the contract they use is not complaint. We asked for proof of workers compensation and CGL insurance, indemnification, and that we are added to their policies as additional insureds. These are all fairly standard requests when you have people painting your house 40 feet off the ground. Antoniel's reply was that their contract was the only one they will use and while they claimed that they had insurance for "property damage," they did not provide a Certificate of Insurance to prove what they actually had, how much insurance they had, etc. We showed them Angie's List's insurance requirements and suggestions (which we were following) but their response was "those requirements were not discussed nor requested during our onsite visit and I would recommend mentioning those requirement to service providers in the future." Word to the wise--if you are hiring a contractor to perform $13K of work on your home and in such a high risk trade as exterior painting, you're playing with fire if you don't insist on proof of insurance and a contract that protects you from a lawsuit in the event someone is hurt or they damage your home as a result of the contractor's negligence. Angie's List should require people who do business through them comply with the applicable laws in Mass before letting companies like this sell to the public.

We purchased Antoniel's Big Deal which offered $289 for 8 hrs. wallpaper removal, drywall repair, & painting. When I originally contacted Carla, she told me that they couldn't possibly come out & do an estimate, that there was no time for that. That seemed odd to me, but I was anxious to get the work done, so I scheduled a Sunday for Antoniel & Carla to come out and remove wallpaper and assess the scope of the work. I was happy with the way that they approached the initial meeting. They were friendly, polite, and careful with the job. Antoniel informed me that he had a carpenter that could install the bead board which made me happy that I didn't have to find someone else. Antoniel explained to me that he would need to cut around the existing vanity to install the bead board, (otherwise, he would need to bring in a plumber). I agreed with the expectation that whatever he did, he would make it look professional. He gave me a price for the job -- and I put down a $500 deposit. I could have used more help from Antoniel concerning the material which I needed to purchase -- how much & what kind -- I was unsure of exactly what I was responsible for and I was used to more help from whatever expert was performing the service, but I figured it out and was ready with all of the materials for his appointed start date in January. I got a call that Antoniel had been sick and that they would need to move the start date out a week to Feb. 1st and I agreed. Antoniel arrived with the carpenter and they installed the bead board in one day. They filled some of the holes & told me that the painter would be coming the next day to sand & paint. The painter came and, indeed, put up a barrier in the doorway, ostensibly, to keep the dust out of the main house. I checked in with him during the day and was surprised when he told me that he would be done by the end of the day. I couldn't imagine how he had been able to sand & prep & paint all in the time allowed, but Antoniel came later in the day to help him out and when he was getting ready to leave, he scheduled someone to come in and apply the wallpaper the following night. I settled up with him for the job -- including the wallpaper application. It was uncomfortable for me because Antoniel didn't seem fully aware of the numbers that he had originally quoted to me, nor did he seem to remember that I had already put down $500. I had a piece of paper that I brought to him which showed the original quotes that I had written down, but there had never been an official estimate or invoice signed by him and by me that both of us could refer to. I mentioned this when I subsequently called Carla, that this was an uncomfortable position in which to put the homeowner, and I fully recognize now that I should have insisted on it. Antoniel asked me if I had purchased wallpaper adhesive & I replied no, do I need to? He said that he could pick some up and when I asked how much, that I would add it to the total on the check, he quoted me $50. My husband came in at this point and noticed that the stain from where they had repaired the ceiling was already showing through & Antoniel grabbed the oil-based primer (which he had instructed me to buy for this purpose) & hurriedly covered the area. My sense was that there had been minimal communication between Antoniel and his worker regarding the specifics that he and I had discussed originally for the project. The man who showed up the next night to do the wallpaper came in with some wallpaper adhesive and a small chest, but curiously, no table or anything large enough to lay out wallpaper. He finished in just a couple of hours -- it was only 3 walls above the bead board -- & he was very polite & seemingly efficient. It was the following day when I began to look more closely at some of the work done. First, the wallpaper was bubbling up in 3 places, so much in one spot that a wide swath was just not adhered at all. When I called to let Carla know, she told me that Antoniel had instructed her to contact me that day & warn me that applying wallpaper with so much winter dry heat could cause bubbles & that he would have his guy come back and address it. This is when I took the opportunity to tell Carla my discomfort with the lack of an invoice and I also told her that my sense was that this had been a rush job. I told her I appreciated Antoniel's desire to get it done expeditiously, but that I was noticing things that showed the job was rushed. There was an area around the window in which the coverage was inadequate. There were some nails sticking up in 2 places on the new chair rail and several rough spots. Carla offered to have Antoniel come back & fix whatever needed fixing, but I declined. First, I thought that I could easily do it myself, and second, I was conflicted about bringing Antoniel back when it was apparent that the job was done in a sloppy manner in the first place. Antoniel's worker (I apologize for not remembering the names of the workers) showed up that night with Elmer's Glue-all and a scraper/smoother tool, picked up the wallpaper where it was coming up & squirted the product under and smoothed it down. I'm not an expert, but this seemed like a patch-it-up approach and I would not be surprised if we find we have to have the wallpaper reapplied in the near future. We started to do the touch-up work ourselves and quickly realized that the room had never been sanded as promised prior to painting. You could see where spackle had been applied and never sanded in several areas all over the room. There were multiple drips in addition to the areas that were not covered enough, and I had to take an exacto knife to the baseboard heater to separate the register vents as they were painted shut. We could now see that the bead board had not been cut to equal lengths on either side of the window and had been covered up with an over-abundance of caulking. Ditto with the work around the vanity sink. The bead board installation was just as shoddy as the paint job. Antoniel had also given us a quote to install tile, but at this point we had lost all faith in his workmanship and, indeed, his commitment to quality, so we hired another person to come in and install the tile. We ended up having this person remove the terrible bead board application around the vanity and install a new piece correctly. We were happy to have it done correctly, but not happy with paying for the job twice. At this point, something made me look up the cost of wallpaper adhesive. Imagine my dissatisfaction when I learned that I had been quoted $50 for a product which cost him no more than $20 for more than enough to do our wallpaper application. I contacted Carla and informed her of our extreme dissatisfaction with the job. I really dislike leaving a negative review and I wanted her to know how unhappy we were. I reviewed all of our complaints with her. Mostly, Carla repeated that Antoniel had offered to come back and address the issues with the job. I tried to stress to her that Antoniel's group not performing basic tasks such as sanding the surfaces before painting and Antoniel overcharging me for the wallpaper adhesive could not be dismissed as trivial complaints. She told me that she would talk it over with Antoniel and get back to me. She never did. I'll close with the same thing which I told Carla -- we have never been so dissatisfied with a job as we are with this one.

First of all, the communication with Carla was GREAT. She supplied me with a cell phone number to send pictures and a video to, and she replied almost immediately with an estimate. She was also incredibly prompt with all other communications during the process. This morning their master carpenter, Elias, showed up at exactly 8:00, as promised. He was very kind and professional. He advised me that most of my railing could be reused, saving me a good amount of money. He quickly got to work repairing the post and also, as part of the job, tightened all of the loose balusters on the railing at the top of the steps and also on the stairway going up to the 2nd floor. I have had other carpenters tell me that they didn't think that my railing could be fixed without taking apart my entire stairway, but clearly that wasn't true! Elias did a beautiful job, and did it quickly. He completely cleaned up after he was done. I couldn't be happier with the results. I have a few more projects that I will be hiring Antoneil for in the near future! They are a really good company to know about!
Description of Work: I hired Antoneil to repair a broken stair handrail. The newel post at the end of the railing was broken and the railing was dangerously loose.

Antonio was very responsive to my initial inquiries and gave me a fair estimate for the job (which included what I paid for the Big Deal). He was communicative throughout the project. He and Erlon (a very able finish carpenter) showed up when they said they would. They welcomed me along on the trip to the hardware store to choose the wood trim for the wainscoting. I am very picky and had lots of questions as they worked. I needed to “think through” the project and see exactly the style I wanted as Erlon installed the wainscoting. Both Antonio and Erlon were very patient with me and adjusted the project to my liking exactly. We now have a beautiful “period” hallway that really wows people when they walk into the apartment. I recommend Antoniel Painting & Finish wholeheartedly. They work quickly at a fair price, and they attend carefully to all the details. They really do beautiful work!
Description of Work: Antonio (of Antoniel Painting & Finish) is a top rate general contractor with an excellent team. We had a long windowless hallway in our condo that sorely needed some beautifying – something to make it more than just a long dark hallway. I saw the Big Deal Antoniel Painting & Finish offered for $299, and thought now is the time to fix that hallway finally. I wanted some wainscoting installed.

They were supposed to arrive between 7 and 8. Night before Carla called to say they wouldn't be there until noon. She told me I needed to be there to pick out a finish so they would know what to do. I had to take the day off from work. They never showed up until about 1:00. There were two guys so the job was going to be 4 hours instead of 8 hours for one guy. I had already started ripping the carpet myself. At they end of four hours all they did was finish removing the carpet and some staples. They told me to get what I wanted they would have to come back. It would take over a week and cost approximate $2,000 or they could just paid for $400. After they left I knew I would never have them back. I examined my stairs and they left so many staples in the floor that I really don't understand what two men did for four hours straight. Especially when I had already begun cutting the carpet. I have before and after pictures and I have their facebook message to me saying that what I wanted to be covered in the deal. Carla was very rude to me and treated me like I was an idiot. I have never done anything like this before and she even finally said that she shouldn't have assumed I knew the process. All in all I am very upset at the horrible job they did. The fact that now I have to bring someone else in to clean up the mess they left me and now I am out $299 for basically nothing. I trusted Angie's List and I hope that someone else reads this and I save someone from making a terrible mistake hiring this man.
Description of Work: I contacted Antoniel Painting & Finish on Facebook to inquire about the deal on Angie's List. I told them I wanted the rug pulled on my stairs (15 of them) and the stairs refinished. I asked if what I was looking for would fall in that deal. They said yes.

Response from Antoniel Painting & Finish
Hi [Member Name Removed]. You asked if the deal could be used towards removing a carpet that was on your stairs for almost a century and refinish your stairs. I said absolutely it could be used towards that type of service but at no point in time did we say or indicate that in 8 hours we would remove carpet and sand, replace treads, stain and varnish your steps. This is a huge project and we expect the homeowner there while we do the work to make decisions on our findings. You did cut into the carpet to try to take it off yourself, but there was nothing taken off before our arrival. We too take before and after pictures for our records. Your carpet had so many nails and staples that made it challenging to come off. We did the best and most we could in 8 hours 2 people for 4 hours. Pulled off all of your carpet and most of the nails. You have paint underneath which will need to be stripped than sanded to the bare wood then stained 3 coats and then another 3 coats of varnish. It's unrealistic and impossible to do it all in 8 hrs, that is a 2 week project at least. We can't give you time and estimate until we remove the carpet and see the condition of your treads. We were never rude but merely explaining that what you want to accomplish is impossible to do in 8 hours. You can get estimates for many many carpenters, I assure you and am confident that any other company will tell you the same and my price is a fair market price for the job. I even offered to just repaint your steps which would have been cheaper and faster for you but you didn't want to pay and expected free work. Do you work for free?

Based on the "get a painter for 8 hours" deal, Antoniel and a colleague showed up promptly when expected (around 8 AM) and got right to work. I had largely prepped the rooms I wanted painted, and they checked the surfaces, sanded/grouted as needed and started painting. 4 hours later, an 18x13 room with three windows, 2 doorways and built in bookshelves (had to pain behind shelves) had gone from mustard yellow to pale oak. Additionally, two walls of a second room (one of which was painted wood paneling with a fireplace, the other of which had a bank of windows) had gone from dark green to pale oak. The work is clean and precise, and the walls look great. They cleaned up after themselves and were friendly and polite. I would recommend them to anyone.

I hired Antoniel last minute for some stair work that I was unable to complete due to a medical emergency. Antoniel was very responsive and was able to send one of his master carpenters over the following week. The quality of the work was top notch and I am very pleased with the final result! He also did not charge a markup for the materials and provided me with receipts for the materials. Overall a great experience and I would definitely hire his company again for any finish work!

He did the work on 2/10 and came back to clean with his wife on Friday, 2/17. On 2/10 when he first came over and brought a helper who did no painting, he was just a guy who just fetched stuff and held my hair dryer and did some sanding. He might have done 3 spot of priming. He was also the one that did the clean up but he was damaging hardwood floor with the wet rag smearing all into the floor. Now the floor need to be re sanded and polyurethane. In the meantime Antoniel who did the real painting work and did not use anything, no tape, no protection at all. Because the job was not done right, I had to hire someone else to do the job properly. We originally had the appointment scheduled for 1/27 and it was re schedule for 2/10 because Antoniel had some personal problem. I already took this day off and he waited until that morning to tell me that he could not come.

They were great, all in all. We asked them to come in and do it while we were on vacation; they did a very good job, made sure to be done before we came back. A couple of small things they could do better; somehow, my request to have the window frame repainted in the bathroom got lost in communications; and, when requesting more money for extra hours (which I had authorized ahead of time); they should have told me, in writing, exactly how many extra hours were being billed. Other than that, I'd definitely use them again. (They provided a carpenter who took care of the large hole in the wall.)
Description of Work: a bedroom, and a bathroom painted . Plus a hole in the bathroom wall closed up, wallpaper scraped off that was hidden by the medicine cabinet that had been in the hole, etc.

Antoniel and his staff were courteous and very professional. They arrived when they said they would, took care of getting all of the supplies, and were able to complete the job earlier than expected which was great. I am very happy with the results and I will definitely be using them for all my painting jobs.
Description of Work: I had wallpaper removed from a hallway and a bedroom then had both rooms painted. I initially purchased the $499 for 16 hours of work. Antoniel and Carla arrived and spent the day working. The were able to remove almost all of it. Antoniel then gave me a great price to finish the work. They were able to start the next week.
