Joe shows up on time, he communicates clearly and he's happy to do any job no matter how small. He'll also take the time you need to help you understand all the options, the various costs, and help you decide what's right for your situation and budget.

A few days later, his bill came in the mail....for a whopping $555.00. On the bill he had listed what he had done, but did not itemize any of the costs. I was in shock, but after recovering, I called him on his business phone and received his voice mail. I informed him that I had received his bill and wanted to know if there was a mistake or error made, as it couldn't possibly be for the amount stated. I asked him to call me back to discuss this matter.
He did call back and stated that the amount was correct and that he couldn't make any adjustments to it. He said that he charges $165 per unit to install, which came to $330. He did not explain the rest. I asked him to send me a new invoice which he did, however, he just itmeized the two recessed lights at $165 each, and then the rest was 'materials ($115.00) and labor ($110.00).
In checking with an employee the contractor who built my condo, he informed me that a canned light fixture like I have at the very most would be $50.00 each, if that. So I'm imagining that the 3 dimmer switches he used, an one screw to tighten a ceiling fan were approximately $30.00 each.!! A check of the Home Depot werb site shows these dimmer switches sselling for around $15.00.
I accept some of the blame on this, as I should have asked what the costs would be, and even though I expected him to be a little high, this was outrageous. Like I wrote previously, he was here for just under 2 hours and some of that time was visiting my neighbor.
I will not be calling him for any other work.

Response from JOSEPH J ORLANDO
"There is no electrician that i know of that could cut in 2 new recess lights in an exsisting ceiling , snaking wires through the ceiling, moving all the furniture , set down a drop cloth and vacum up , install 3 new dimmer sw's , get out a 10 ft step ladder to repair the fan , pack up ,,all in less than 2 hrs,,really? lets not even mention going to the supply house to buy the lights or even driving to the condo ,,,, i never charge for that,,, [member name removed] just does'nt like to pay ,, i have worked for him in the past and he was always trying to negociate the bill, THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY RED FLAG ...."

Joe has added outlets, new fixtures on the outside, did some trouble-shooting on problems we had (it's a very old house), and has always done very good work at a good price. He has also been able to come within short notice, which we really appreciate - and if he can't, he's told us so.
