There were no extra charges, they're pretty knowledgeable technicians and they do a good job. They did my central air conditioning unit last July and that worked out great. I have no dislikes and they also tell you what you might need down the road and they also make recommendations about other things you can do to improve your product.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Matt Knight. He was friendly, helpful and polite. I had recieved incomplete instructions from my plumber on how to maintain the correct water level in my unit. I'd been observing increased rust in the water and surging in the days previous. I also noticed the water level in the column was too high. I was worried that I may be damaging the unit and my concern began around 7:30 on a Friday night. I wanted to at least talk to someone to find out if my unit was in trouble but wasn't sure if it warranted an emergency call. Matt called back right away and talked me through skimming. When it was clear that I needed some extra help since the skim port was much higher than the water level, he came right out and did it and showed me how to as well. I am new to steam heat and this residence. The unit was just over a year old. He also instructed me on preventative maintenance steps to take going forward. My living room was not heating up and my daughter's room was an oven and he helped to correct that as well. Two plumbers had already taken a shot at that with partial success but now there is finally a real solution. I felt much more empowered and knowledgeable about my system after that visit. Matt was very professional and personable and was someone I felt comfortable with in my home. I will definitely be calling ARS again.

I bought the big deal for "$99 for Gas Heating or Cooling System Tune-up!" and was promptly contacted by the provider to schedule an appointment. The provider showed up on time and was very courteous. The were no issues detected with my heating system. The only concern I have is that it took under 1 hour to tune-up 2 furnaces...and I paid $198 for about one hour of labor. Is this normal?

They called me to set up the appointment and there was no difficulty making an appointment. I was given a range of time and he arrived toward teh end of that time, but called in advance to let me know. He explained what he was doing/what he did, also tested my smoke and CO detectors and told me what to watch for. Although my furnace is old, it's efficiency was such that I wouldn't gain much by nvesting in a new furnace, but he also explained how I could install a water sensor/alarm for an early alert in the event that it failed/linked. He identified and opened a valve that was stuck. He also vacuumed out the interior (mice had taken up residence near the pilot light and died when the furnace kicked into gear).
Description of Work: I had my very old furnace serviced for the first time since i bought the house a few years ago.

It was okay. Their people were fine. They referred us to somebody else in the same company because our furnace was old but the transition was not that very good. There was a miscommunication between them and they came at a different time than they were supposed to. I will think twice if I would use them again in the future.

ARS was able to schedule us reasonably soon, given the heat wave and high demand for A/C services. The initial installation seemed to go fine. The condenser and air handler were installed in one day, and everything worked fine for one day when it stopped cooling. They came back promptly and found that there was some problem related to wiring in the air handler. (I am not really sure what) It took two visits to get that all fixed and it has been fine since. They were unable to install the fancy new programmable iComfort thermostat that first visit because we have an old setup where the thermostat for the heat (radiators) is separate from the thermostat for the A/C. It turned out to require more electrical work than they first expected, so this ended up requiring an additional visit. After all was done and working well for a couple of weeks, they came back to inspect and attach the drain pan more securely. We hadn't had any problem, so this was above and beyond what we had contracted for. We appreciated that it was unusual for them to have problems on installation, and they wanted to be extra sure we were completely satisfied. For each visit, they were prompt, called when they were on their way, explained what they had done and what was left to do at the end of the visit, cleaned up afterwards very thoroughly and were pleasant throughout – despite the difficult working environment in our attic. They filed all the product and energy rebate paperwork for us with Lennox and with Massachusetts, so we didn't have to worry about that. It took longer than we expected to receive the rebates. This was not their responsibility, or under their control, so my only suggestion would be to tell the customer when the paperwork is filed and give an idea when it will be received. We would definitely recommend them and use them again when/if we need maintenance. I feel very confident that they will stand by their work and ensure all concerns are addressed before they consider a job completed.
Description of Work: Our 14 year old AC unit blew out on July 4th during a serious heat wave. We obtained proposals and estimates from three vendors, including ARS. We actually found ARS through Home Depot. One other vendor gave too much of a hard sell, and it was a tough call deciding between ARS and the other. We went with ARS because they were smaller and more local. We hoped it would mean we would get personalized attention if we needed it. This turned out to be a good plan. Our house was built in 1930, and has a tine attic with blown in insulation, under a slate roof. Access is difficult and working conditions are cramped dirty and hot. They installed a complete new system (ducts were already in place) including condenser, air handler and programmable touch screen thermostat.

ARS came and cleaned our furnace on a Friday afternoon. After the service was done, we left the house immediately for a weekend trip. When returned on Sunday evening, the house was filled with a strong gas odor. So I placed a call to ARS and they sent out an on-call tech. Apparently, the 1st tech did NOT fully tighten a part called the "thermocouple", thus the slow gas leak. After the on-call tech located and fixed the problem, he forgot to turn back on the pilot light before leaving. | |In all, they did a great job cleaning the furnace and quickly came to our rescue. I would have given them an A rating if it wasn't for the two mistakes. The first wasn't a minor one. The second I can overlook, but both could have been avoided had they been more detailed with their work. I'm not sure what would have happened to family had we stayed home and slept in the house. | |I feel bad for giving an Overall C rating, but I thought others should know my experience.

Everything went great. The technician was very polite and on time for the appointment. He walked me through everything he was doing to the system. Two or three weeks later, the boiler broke and I called the company to let them know. They came out right away to fix the problem for me.

Due to staff illness, the company canceled twice before I finally had someone come out. They were very apologetic both times. The technician who came (David) was superb. He did everything I asked him to do, plus he changed out two air filters on the upper floors. He explained everything to me so that I could understand the system. He made recommendations for winterizing my heating system. He also identified a problem area where I was losing heat and suggested a solution. He looked on my computer with me to make sure I would purchase the right system. David was very pleasant, knowledgeable and went way beyond what I had expected. I have no hesitation in recommending ARS and will certainly call them again should I need service. A++!

They showed to do a tune up of my furnace, upon inspection of my furnace they told me i needed a new furnace and told my furnace was to old to work on. They never performed the tune up on my system.They gave me a quote on a new model Which was way to much money for a new furnace. I would never use this company or recommend them to anyone. Now they will not refund my money for the service that they never performed and they did not return my calls. Very unprofessional!

Please see attached invoice signed by [Member name removed] #52972. The invoice was signed indicating the work listed above was completed. Under description of work, tune up being performed is stated. When we arrived the customer informed us that the system was not functioning properly and would not stay lit. We cleaned the flame sensor as part of our tune up which fixed that issue. At the completion of our tune up we noticed that the burner flame was “dancing” or enlarging when blower came on indicating a problem with the heat exchanger. Upon inspection using our camera scope we found defects in the heat exchanger causing this. Per code we could not leave the system running due to safety concerns. We left the unit off and tagged it with a red warning sticker indicating it was unsafe to operate. We gave options on replacement and reminded the customer if he turned it back on it would be at his own risk.

I called them shortly after I bought the coupon to book an appointment and the owner said he was just about to call me after he got the email, so that was pretty quick! I booked an appointment. He was running a little late due to traffic but he called me to let me know that and gave me a new ETA. |The coupon was to service my gas boiler for the heating season. He was very quick and thorough and answered all my questions. I would hire him again.
