While he did show up 1/2 hr. after the 11am to 1pm window (1:30 pm), he was able to perform the tune ups and explain deficiencies in the upstairs unit. He also was able to provide estimates for repair/ replacement. He was very knowledgeable and was able to explain everything.
Description of Work: Tune up both upstairs and downstairs zones for central AC. Provided estimates for repair of upstairs unit and replacement of older outdoor condensors.

They were okay. It was not at all bad. I think we need another good season to sort of pay back the difference, but some of it was paid for by insurance repair. It did not take them long to do everything for us. They did it in a reasonable manner. The price was not cheap, but it seemed reasonable. The quality of work was good. They were very responsive and their professionalism was very good as well.
Description of Work: We used ARS for air conditioning maintenance. We had damage from a flood. They repaired the damage. We upgraded some vents which were just not good and they were costing us money because they were what I call soft air conditioner vents and therefore, there was too much friction and that was not good. We turned them into hard vents and our AC went down a little bit.

We have used ARS for several years. Have had very positive experiences. I should have written this earlier but in 2013-14 winter we had issues with our heating system (gas furnace) and tried several companies. We had no heat in the peak of winter, and the other guys came up with a bunch of issues and couldn't fix the problem, and charged us hundred's of dollars. The folks at ARS fixed the problem without any additional parts, and just a part of the servicing. Since then we have been loyal customers, and have recommended them to friends.

I am a hard customer to please. I woudl recommend this company to anybody. My project manager and team were excellent. They treated me with the upmost respect and did a great job instlaling central air conditioning in my condo. They were the most reasonably priced. I got about four estimates. The two men who came were patient, did excellent work and cleaned up after themselves. I have not had any issues wiht the system.

I called to schedule a non-rush appointment for my annual A/C tuneup on Monday and they came the next morning at 8 AM. Service went smoothly. Jim C. was extremely friendly, called ahead of arrival and answered all my questions. ARS was extremely professional. Although unable to complete the tune up given the condition of the furnace, they applied the $89 toward the price of having a new unit installed. The guys were very prompt and courteous. Overall we were very pleased.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for a furnace tune up. Unfortunately my furnace needed extensive repairs and we ended up having to replace the entire unit.

The representative was prompt and courteous, although I had to contact the company on three different occasions to schedule the service. There was no tune-up performed as advertised as the representative indicated both burners would need to be replaced due to cracked heat exchangers. He went to his truck and came back with a $14,000.00 quote. On top of that, I needed to sign a waiver as he deemed the units a danger and disabled them. I had to go turn them back on to get my heat back on. I called another company who promptly came out and determined there were no cracks, and did a full carbon-monoxide tests to prove there was no danger to my family. There are some maintenance items that need to be performed, but that's going to run me less than $800 and should get me several more years out of the burners. So I'm out $200 and the lost time dealing with ARS.
Description of Work: Looked at both burners, and told me they needed to be replaced. No "tune-up" was performed.

It went well. He was able to confirm the burner was working OK and performed some minor maintenance. He recommended we replace the gas company conversion to a better, more efficient system. I asked if he could have some one from the company call so we could arrange a new install; he said he would have someone call. No one ever called! Gee it's not nice to blow off a customer that wants to spend money.

It was really bad. The guy was clean, nice, professional, and on time. One of the units needed a new part but he did not have the part with him. I went and got the part for him. The technician broke the gas tube and he never cleaned the furnace and never got it running. The next day they called me back and wanted $210 to put in the part that they broke. The part was only $25. They are not a reputable company because they give a cheap deal and break your furnace and then want to charge you an extravagant amount on top of the deal. I hired another company to do the job for $125.
Description of Work: It was a deal for $99 for a fall furnace tune-up and plumbing inspection. I hired them to do the cleaning on 2 units.

Bottom line - I am very disappointed with the service. At first, I was fairly pleased with their service but now I have a bigger problem than I had before ARS serviced my boiler. Yes, someone did check out the problem which left me more frustrated and quite irritated. Furthermore, I requested that someone phone me prior to arriving since they could only provide a 3 hour window (a common practice of other companies). One service person didn?t even receive the instructions and the other didn?t bother to pay attention. It just happened that both service men called upon arrival due to the snow/parking conditions at my home. This does not demonstrate the company?s attentiveness to customer needs. A detailed description of the course of events follows. I have been looking to establish a long-term relationship with a company to service my boiler. Although I was please with the service provided by another company, I had recently called the other company to inquire about something. They said they would get back to me and never have. When I saw the $99 Tune-up deal with ARS, an eco-friendly certified company, I thought this was a good opportunity to explore their service. They were very responsive and accommodating with scheduling an appointment. The service person, Aaron, was very pleasant, respectful (taking off his boots before entering my home), and professional. I explained the recent service history, observations and my current issues with the damper and the safety relief valve. He said that he would check the whole system as he cleaned the boiler and explain his findings. Upon completion of the cleaning, Aaron informed me that he adjusted the gas pressure which was a little high. He first recommended that I replace the thermo coupler, describing its function, reason for the recommendation and showed me the part the signs replacement was warranted which I greatly appreciated. He then suggested the damper replacement. Although I had already informed him that I was not going to do anything about the damper, I understood he was obligated to make note of it. Lastly, due to the frequent water discharge, he recommended replacement of the relief valve. We discussed other causes for the discharge such as the expansion tank which appeared to be working properly or the back flow valve which was replaced a month ago. I chose not to do anything about the thermo coupler at this time, but agreed to have him replace the relief valve. After completing the work, he pointed out the sediment in the valve that would not allow the valve to close completely. As he was gathering his tools, I looked at what he had done and was surprised to notice the pipes not aligned as previously. I pointed this out. He agreed stating that it?s not a problem. The boiler and immediate area were now cleaner than they were prior to the service which pleased me. As long as everything functioned properly, the appearance was not that important. Later that afternoon, I passed by the boiler and noticed water in the bucket AGAIN. Thinking that it may just be a result of the work that was done, I was not concerned. However, the next morning, there was even more water in the bucket. I called ARS and was told that someone would be here between 12 and 3 that day. Jim arrived appearing somewhat irritated and hurried. He definitely was not as pleasant or respectful as Aaron. He looked at a few things on the boiler and asked me to turn up the heat in at least two of the four zones (I turned up all four zones). While waiting for the pressure to rise, I inquired about the misalignment of the pipes. He stated that an adapter was used because they don?t carry the same part. Something I should have been apprised of prior to the installation even though it has nothing to do with function. As the pressure approached 20 psi, I commented that the pressure has always remained under 20 with the temp being 180. In disbelief, he questioned me a couple of times about me actually checking the gauges. When the pressure reached 22 psi with the temp only up to about 120 degrees, he stated that the expansion tank needed to be replaced for $375 (over $200 more than I was quoted by another company). With no explanation for the fact that prior to the valve replacement the pressure did not exceed 20 psi, he stated impatiently that the expansion tank was the only thing that it could be. However, there was still no indication that the expansion tank was faulty. It was not full, the bottom half was cool and the day before I was told it was working properly. Since I was not going to replace the tank, he said he had other customers to service, giving me the impression that I am just wasting his time. While he was writing up the bill, the pressure rose to 25 psi and the temperature was only up to 140. In the mean time, the radiators knocked. I asked what caused that noise. He explained that it was the metal of the radiators expanding. I am sure if that were the case I would have heard the knocking throughout the sixteen years I have lived in my house. It was obvious that he had no intention of investigating the noise or providing any suggestions of the real cause. So now I have knocking radiators, a bigger leak than I had before ARS serviced my boiler and I?m out $174 (less my senior discount) to boot. ARS may be certified to be eco-friendly but definitely NOT certified customer-friendly. I would not recommend ARS.

Provider was punctual and pleasant. I stayed with him during the inspection and asked questions. He explained what he was doing, what was causing my problem and fixed it. Reasonable cost for a good job.

This expirence went horrible. The tech they sent out advised me that I needed a new furnace and it would cost around $5200. I told him I would do what I needed to do but didn't commit to anything at that point. He disconnected the furnace and left ( he didn't think it was safe to keep on). I had a different company come in and take a look at it and advised that it was a simple fix with the door not being shut and causing the heat not to circulate the home. I am very upset because this company was trying to rip me off by purchasing a new furnace when I didn't need to.

The representative of ARS arrived on time and went over the heating burner and showed me what should be changed. I had already had the "loop" change mentioned to me previously so I knew it was a necessary change. He replaced the thermocouple and lowered the "loop." We also discussed an issue with my sump pump. I have made a appointment to have the pump replaced with a new system.
Description of Work: Replaced a defective thermocouple and lowered a "loop" in the furnace system that was located too high for the water to cool down in between cycles.
