I showed the service technician Mark E the paperwork and explained the problem. Within an hour he figured the problem out. The refrigerant was low in the unit. ( I don't know why the install company could not figure that out. ) He added the refrigerant and now it is working great, like the first year I had it. It's only 3 years old. I will definitely be calling ARS in the future and ask for Mark E as the service provider.I am now happy and cool.
Description of Work: I initially called ARS as they advertised $89 service AC. When I called to shedule and told them I had had my ductless A/C unit serviced by the company that installed it last summer; that they checked it and said everything was working fine. But it was still not cooling correctly. The office said that the diagnostic fee was $135 . At first, they were unable to give me an appt for 3 weeks but then they called back in an our and were able to come that pm.

10 months later the outside coil and inside coil freezes . I call for service again to ars and guy shows up and tells me that me evaporation coil is bent and he gave me options. Option 1 was to fix manually the bent coils cost 4,000 dollars , option 2 buy new evaporator coil unit cost 6,000 . I declined his options and later discovered that the wrong size filter was causing the air to not flow properly . Cost 3 dollars for new filter . I will never call ARS ever again.
Description of Work: Routine service tuneup and everything looked just fine and he told me I don't need another tuneup 2 years

Provided thorough analysis and seasonal tune-up of A/C unit. Technician was initially concerned about some possible corrosion, but ultimately determined it was superficial and the unit was operating fine and did not try to up-sell me on an unnecessary repair.

It is call for regular tuneup and found out that no gas in the unit. They asked around $350 to fill the gas, but not able to find the where the gas leaks and no guarantee that the gas stays. To find the leaks, they asked to book another appointment which cost another $150 and that too on end of September only. I am really frustrated with that and decided not to do anything. Just wasted $99.

One funny incident was that my 6 yo son was watching and asking questions. Gary was patient throughout. My son made an observation that his hat blew off for one compressor and not the other, and Gary then realized that the wires for the capacitor was switched causing the motor to spin the the wrong direction! That was easily remedied.
Description of Work: Cleaned two AC compressors, checked HVAC systems. Gary was very professional and courteous, took off shoes without being asked. He was very thorough in the maintenance and made sure everything was in great shape and extensively tested before leaving.

Tech was very professional and courteous. It is always hard to know whether they did a good job, but he took a long time, went up in the attic, and let me know that he inspected things to the best of his ability. Tried to upsell to repair parts that were only cosmetically damaged by ice this winter, but was honest in telling me that it did not seem to affect the operation of the unit. Cleaned up after himself, including a cosmetic scrape on the corner doorway made by his ladder.

The service was okay. I think they touched something and one of the connections got loose and the heating wasn't working efficiently. So I called them to check what was going on but they didn't show up. I ended up fixing it myself.

I bought my house last fall. The airconditioning unit was obviously old and was not tested until the spring because the weather was cold when I was buying. The unit worked but I was not sure of the overall condition. The technician came on time, cleaned and assessed the unit. He gave me prices and options for repair when the unit needed attention. Although it is working now I know replacement is right around the corner and I will be calling ARS when needed.

TJ was the repairman that came to my home. He called a few minutes ahead and asked where the best place to park..which I took as him being considerate. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the problem I have on the third floor unit telling me about the exhaust drain. He couldn't inspect the evaporator due to the way it was installed....which wasn't his fault. He took a picture of the basement A/C showing me the evaporator coil and how the pan was filthy dirty. He gave me two options...get it cleaned or get a new evaporator/pan telling me the price for both. His recommendation was to get a new one - $1500 as it would last longer. Unit is 10 yrs old, but didn't pressure me on either option. He wrote everything up on and invoice clearly stating what he performed and his recommendations. TJ was a great guy..very polite and considerate. I would totally use this company again and TJ as my serviceman. I'm a Realtor selling residential real estate so I'm very selective about the service I receive. If i get good service I recommend the company to my clients. I purchased the Angie's List deal for 99.00 to do an AC tune up. A few days later I saw a deal for 89.00 for the same thing. My loss. ARS called me within a day I think and we scheduled an appointment. At that time I informed the scheduler that I thought the AC unit was out of freon. Dave Smith was scheduled to be at my house between 9:30 - 12:00. At about 10:30 I received a call that he would not be there until closer to 12:00 or later. He arrived at about 1:00. It was ok with me. He looked at the outside unit and the inside unit on the furnace. He verifed that the system was out of freon and that the system must have a leak. Needless to say doing a tune up (whatever that consists of) wasn't needed. He stated that to find the leak, a nitrogen test would need to be done and it would cost about $300.00. He connected the nitrogen but didn't find any obvious leaks. He did isolate the condenser and thought that is where the leak most likely is but had no way of knowing for sure. Bottom line is the condenser is about 16 years old and the coil is over 20 years old. He recommended replacing the condenser and coil. He gave me a quote and I am still deciding on what I want to do. He didn't charge me the $300 for the test and we agreed on the 99.00 I had already paid for the tune up that didn't get done. Dave also noticed that my furnace was putting out a lot of white soot. It is over 20 years old and he recommended that it be replaced soon.
