S & W Tile

This is my second experience with S&W Tile and I continue to recommend them highly. Wes is exceedingly professional and responsive. We had to reschedule the job and Wes was very accommodating. During the job, Wes provided advice on how to best complete the installation and oversaw the work personally. His guys cleaned up as they went along and left my condo spotless at the end of each day. We ran out of tile (not Wes's fault) and he was able to reschedule a final day's work the following week. The finished product is awesome and I couldn't be more pleased. If you are looking for simply the best tile installer in the Boston area, go with S&W and you won't be disappointed. I recommend them without reservation.

Wes is extremely professional and his men were excellent tile installers. All of the work was done perfectly, they were on time, they cleaned up after themselves, and asked appropriate questions where they needed to make decisions. I would definitely recommend them for your tile job. They were not the low bidder on the job, but I chose them for their professionalism and my understanding after speaking to Wes that they were certain to do the job properly. I do not think in any case that one should be taking the lowest bidder - you get what you pay for.

Wes & team are excellent, professional. Wes is very cost conscious, has great suggestions on how to save on project. all work completed in excellent and timely fashion. Would use Wes again in for any other project. All work performed as promised, at cost, no frills, no surprises. Wes uses a great plumber. His services were seamlessly integrated into the work. Working with Wes was fantastic. He is very personable, knowledgeable and flexible. S&W is an extremely busy company, and in order to fit our two jobs into their calendar, we had to schedule 2-4 weeks out. However, for both jobs Wes was able to call us and squeeze us in on earlier dates when other jobs were delayed or cancelled. Wes was very attentive to our needs throughout the process, and he had his crew document the jobs with before, during, and after pictures. They arrived early each day that they were working and waited patiently in the driveway for me to come out and let them in. The two crew members that I interacted with were quite courteous and respectful. Most importantly, both showers are now functioning leak-free. The craftsmanship is excellent. My only complaint is that some of the drywall adjacent to the new tile was damaged during the removal of the old -- and needs to be spackled, painted, and finished. This isn't something that S&W Tile will perform, so I'll have to add it to my list of small projects for a future handyman or contractor. All in all, a great experience -- professional and efficient service. The results speak for themselves!

Great company to work with. Wes and the members of his team are all very friendly and very hard workers. They arrived for the appointment on time and got right to work. Wes helped me with some preliminary work as well to make sure I procured the appropriate materials/tiles in advance of the work - which helped make sure things went smoothly the day of the appointment. Excellent and fast communication as well throughout the process. The guys also cleaned up everything when they were done and put down sheets to make sure my house stayed clean while they worked. The completed work looks fantastic and I am very pleased with the results. The spacing and alignment of all the tiles is spot on and looks great - very clean looking. I would definitely plan to use them again in the future. Great company to work with.

Wes was very responsive to email and provided a quote based on pictures of the kitchen and tile. He and his team arrived on time and the project was completed in one day. The tile looks great!

The work was very high quality across the board. The owner is responsive and easy to reach by phone/e-mail/txt. Work was scoped in detail before starting and everything was done very quickly. It's a small operation, so services have to be scheduled far in advance, and it can be difficult to accommodate shifts if the project is running behind. Overall, it was a very good experience and work that we're happy to show off.

Wes has it all: he is professional, straightforward, a pleasure to work with, and an expert in his field. There were issues that we did not know what to do with. Wes made recommendations and gave us options always leaving it to us to make the decision. It is one of the qualities that I appreciated so much. One of the problems we had was the area at the back door. The cement needed to be jack-hammered down so that the tiles would be leveled with the kitchen's hardwood floor. Taking account of the tiles, the cement had to be taken down and built up to one inch. We did find someone to do that but he disappeared within three hours of starting the job and never came back. We couldn't find anyone else and called Wes to see whether he could work with the floor as it was or maybe just have hardwood installed. He encouraged us to keep looking because without it, that area would define the kitchen, and not in a good way. We knew that he was speaking from experience and made that extra effort to find someone. He was absolutely right on this, and on everything else he gave advice on. The second issue were the tiles themselves. These were made by an artisan and while they looked the same size to us, they turned out to have slight variations in size. This brings us to his assistant Renato, who did the job. Renato is a master installer. He is pleasant and clearly takes pride in his work, which he should! He is also a very hard working man who put in longer hours that he had anticpated. The work was quite challenging and the end product is simply "perfect"! Thank you Renato! No one would know, looking at the final product, the degree of expertise required to achieve it. It is simply gorgeous. As would be expected from the above, everything is done in a timely manner. Calls are returned well within his 24-hour commitment. They were exactly on time everyday. A+ would be a more appropriate rating but it is not available. I would not have anyone else do our next project.

This is the second time we've used S and W, first time was the backsplash in the kitchen and now the bathroom floor. We are very pleased with their work both times. Wes was very prompt in replying to our email request with an estimate. His crew came on time, took the time to understand our needs and discussed the options of which direction the tiles will be laid. His crew is very skilled, attention to details and did not rush to complete. The floor looks beautiful!

I picked S&W Tile based off of the Angie's List reviews and a phone conversation with Wes. In my 5 year old bathroom, the bottom row of tiles kept pushing out. I had had the bottom tile row replaced and had regrouted it several times. I needed a permanent solution. Based on pictures, I received a recommendation to replace it all. Wes put me on the schedule 2 months out but then ended up having an opening the very next week (which was great since we couldn't use that bathroom shower). When Wes and crew arrived, they did an excellent job of explaining what they were going to do. As the did the demo they brought me in to show me all that had been done wrong and how they would do it correctly. They consulted me at every step, making recommendations where appropriate. I am very pleased with the results and feel confident that it is thorougly waterproofed now. I highly recommend S&W Tile.

Wes helped out in a pinch when the original contractor failed to complete the job. He was prompt on the day of the scheduled appointment. Wes was thorough in outlining what still needed to be done on the unfinished project and provided tips on maintenance and demonstrating in terms and concepts a laymen understands. Most of all, Wes exhibited the utmost professionalism expected when you hire someone to work in your home

The guys from S & W tile were professional from start to finish. After speaking to Wes on the phone, I e-mailed a description of the work I wanted done, measurements of the bathroom, and photographs of the tub/shower and floor. I soon had a quote, scheduled the job, and paid the deposit. After one reschedule by S & W (they moved the job to one day earlier than originally panned, and it was fine because we could accommodate them), the guys showed up exactly when they said they would, got the work done in the timeframe promised, and completely cleaned up after themselves. They were polite, friendly, punctual, very careful, neat, and worth the money (I might have gotten a better price elsewhere, but I feel that their professionalism deserves a premium price tag). It was especially great that they came to Salem for my project, even though they only do jobs in Salem a few times per year. I appreciate their time and effort, and recommend them highly.

Wes was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. He was very straight forward and honest, giving me his professional assessment of the problems in our showers (lack of waterproofing with resultant damage of adjacent walls) and the proper remedy. Although not pushy, he made himself available to do the work at a very early convenience for both of us. He made sure we had all of the correct materials prior to the job and guided me with my purchase of same. He corrected an error in one of the purchased tiles, took care of the re-ordering of the proper tiles-all while I was on vacation. He communicated well during the project, as I was not at home, with a phone call as necessary and e-mailed photos of the work as it was done. The work areas were clean and all materials left in a neat pile when I returned home after the job was completed.. I am very satisfied with the work and professionalism of Wes and his company and would hire him again and refer him to family and friends!

Wes and his team were highly professional. Wes responded to my initial inquiry promptly and communicated proactively during the whole process. We were able to schedule an initial consultation quickly and he delivered on the proposal, actually finishing the job in less time than estimated -- and on budget. The team went beyond expectations and clearly works very hard during the day (I was present for the work and they were non-stop, with minimal rest/lunch breaks.) We couldn't be happier with how the new floor looks!

Wes and his buddy arrived on time. They are nice guys from just up the street and I was glad to work with locals. Wes mostly was outside while his buddy did the work. I hung out for a bit to make sure all was well. I pointed out that the starting line needed to be squared up a bit and his buddy was responsive to my request. After that, the job seemed to be going well. Later ,Wes answered some questions about another job I was doing myself and he was very informative. For a few years I had a good feeling about having them do the work. It was expensive for a small tile job but I felt like I got a pro work. Now, my electrical outlets covers and the outlets are falling off. After inspection, I see that they never extended the "Adjustable Wall Electrical Box" to make it flush with the tile. This seems like a basic skill but somehow they just forgot or they were inexperienced. What is worse than messing up a job is not fixing it. When they put the outlets in they would have to have seen the mistake. Sadly, they just pushed hard to catch a few threads and left me to discover the error it a few years later. I would extend the boxes myself but I'll need to cut into the tile to make room. I can get longer screws but that would not be up to code.

S&W Tile is by far one of the best contractors on Angie's List. Wes was very responsive right from my first inquiry. After firing my previous contractor whose tile guy stole a ring out of my wife's nightstand, I contacted Wes to finish the job. He was responsive and came out to inspect the work within a few days. He provided two quotes: complete the previous job or start over from scratch. I decided to keep the completed work and asked Wes to do his best. We scheduled an appointment for a month later and Wes showed up on time as promised. My wife had given birth to our first child only a few days earlier, but we wanted the bathroom done. Wes was incredibly professional and considerate. He finished the job and didn't wake the baby once! At the end of 1.5 days, we had our bathroom completely tiled and ready for plumbing fixture installation. I will be using S&W for my second bathroom next month and can't recommend Wes highly enough. You get what you pay for and with S&W you get the highest quality, responsiveness, and professionalism.

From our first phone conversation through the final clean-up, Wes was very personable, punctual and efficient. He responded within hours to my call, came the next day to view the problem, and was candid about what he thought the problem was. He explained the physical pros and cons and prices of my choices to fix it. Once I scheduled the job, he and his brother arrived on time and did an excellent job. As other reviewers on Angie's list have said, Wes was truly a pleasure to work with.

Wes arrived on time the morning of the appointment. He came in and looked at the job and provided some insight on the tile we chose. The product was difficult to work with but he did an amazing job and was up front and honest on what may go wrong before he started. He was very clean and meticulous during the entire install and the backsplash looks amazing. My wife and I are very happy with the job and would hire Wes again!

These guys are truly amazing. I had a old bathroom with pink tile. Because of how it was built I didnt want to spend 40k gutting the whole thing. Wes came in and gave me great advice, and we decided to tile over everything. In the end you cant even tell. See their Facebook page for images of their work. They were incredibly professional on time every day and careful. Wes is a perfectionist and it shows. The tile work came out amazing and the advice they give is really helpful. Very knowledgable and experts at their craft. Pricing is very fair and they dont charge you for a lot of the bogus things some contractors charge for. I would highly recommend them for any job. Also, I see that the very few negative reviews are mostly related to getting charged for an estimate, which is my mind is unfair and bogus. S+W is 100% clear of the estimate charge upfront and credit it towards the work if you choose to get it done. However, I would say that the advice that Wes gives in that "estimate" is worth the fee alone. Its almost more of a consultation, and for me it saved me from spending $40k on doing what I first thought had to be a complete gut and renovation. Wes gave me a lot of options regardless if I chose to work with them, which is more than you get from other companies. These guys are great, look at their work on their facebook page and you will see. I couldn't be happier with the work.

They did a great job. They were professional and on time. They kept me informed of every step and any concerns that came up. They were true to their word and kept to their initial estimate. I would definitely use them again.

Job went very well. Wes was available leading up to the job to answer all of our questions. Easy to get a hold of and responded quickly throughout the entire process. Arrived on time and put in full days work each day. Were very concerned about keeping mess and noise to a minimum which was great since we had a small child in the house. Shower was completed on time, on budget, and looks beautiful. I would hire him again to do other tile work in the house.
