Jason and his crew are very skilled masons. They rebuilt a front brick staircase that had gotten destroyed this winter. Due to excessive snow and ice, we had to use rock salt to keep the steps clear. The salt destroyed the mortar joints causing the bricks and railings to fall apart. Jason worked diligently and we did not have to pay anything until the job was complete. We are very satisfied with the quality of their work and will use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: Kirby Masonry repaired front brick stairs damaged by rock salt/bad winter.

Jason offered to do extensive ($14,000) work on my front stairs and back walkway. That was in April of 2014. He told me that it would be "several weeks" before he could begin, and I understood. Several MONTHS later, Jason still hadn't appeared, despite phone calls and emails and texts from me. He would reply each time, "Pretty soon! Pretty soon!" The summer came and went, and so did autumn. When November arrived, along with the freezing temperatures, I had had enough. I notified Jason that our agreement was terminated. He had lied to me for 6 months and I did not trust him. His reply? "Oh, I was planning on being there Tuesday". (!!!) I am aware that he has earned an excellent reputation for great work, and I'm happy for those of you whom he helped. However, I feel like a fool for trusting this man and waiting all those months while my stairs remained broken. His lack of integrity is greatly disturbing.
Description of Work: He did nothing except stall me for 6 months.

This was my second project with Kirby Masonry. Six months earlier they did a job realigning and pointing a set of brick steps in bad repair. Both jobs went extremely well with no delays or surprises. On the driveway job I didn't really know what I wanted (besides making it presentable and functional) and Jason helped me craft a solution with recommendations about how to do it right. Quality of the work was great as was scheduling, finishing quickly and end product. I have noticed after a tough winter that the mortar used in doing the front steps is crumbling and flaking quite a bit but I haven't called yet to ask them to come take a look. I expect their follow through on this will be as good as all my other dealings with them. They are a good company and I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They did an extensive driveway improvement of sorts. I had recently torn down my garage leaving a crumbled mess of concrete and cinder blocks. They laid a new concrete pad, capped a ragged set of cinder blocks on one side and built a short retaining wall on the the other (the property is in the middle of a hill so land slopes considerably).

Jason and his crew know their trade; they are highly skilled. This job showcased their expertise and attention to detail; when it was finished, broken concrete walkaway steps were 100 percent repaired, flagstones were replaced or re-grouted and reset, and the entire walkaway restored. They arrived on time, worked through until the job was completed. The new walkaway looks beautiful and updates the appearance of our property! You will have a hard time finding a more dedicated, competent and accomplished team.
Description of Work: We had a very old (1950's) front walk/steps in terrible condition . Jason and his crew completely refinished the walk, steps; regrouted, replace flagstone as needed. They worked right through until the job was completed.

Jason promised the work would be done in three days, and he was true to his word. He and his co-workers arrived early on a Monday morning and demo'd the steps in the pouring rain and then laid a solid foundation. It was a nasty day but they worked hard and fast and covered the foundation with a tarp to protect the area before leaving for the day. The following two days they built the steps brick for brick and finished on Wednesday, when they had to work under a tarp because of more rain/snow. Thursday was Thanksgiving Day and Jason came early in the morning to remove the tarp, and check the steps so they could be used by the residents of the house (we're in an old home with four condo units). He came back a few days later to wash the steps down and check them again, and install our railing. The steps are beautiful and everyone in the condo is very pleased with the excellent workmanship and reasonable price of his services. Jason clearly takes pride in his work and I would highly recommend him to anyone who was in need of a mason.

Jason was the first one of all the masons to call me back. Others took 1-2 weeks to even return my call. He was there at the appointed time and gave me the estimate. Returned at agreed upon date to to do the work. He matched the new bricks with the old and cleaned up after themselves. they respected my garden while working. Jason even acid washed a spot of concrete on my driveway which I had accidentally made, when he was cleaning up the steps in the landing.
Description of Work: Replaced bluestone step that was cracked with new one that I provided. Reprinted all missing mortar in landing and and replaced several broken bricks in my back deck steps. Repaired a crack in garage concrete floor.

Jason did an awesome job. Our front steps were a mess - the treads needed replacing, our rails had to come off, and as it turned out our faux-brick facing had to be removed. Jason bent over backwards to find some brick facing that would match and did a spectacular job repairing and replacing the treads. Would very happily uses his services again. The price was reasonable and the quality of the work was excellent.

Jason came to look at the steps and gave us a free estimate in June. He told us that it would be a couple of months before he could do the job. The steps look terrific. He repaired the concrete, and the steps themselves are made of brick and granite. He was at our house on the agreed upon date promptly at 8am and worked straight through for about 6 hours when the steps were finished.

Mr Kirby was responsive, pleasant and professional. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted, and he offered both aesthetic and practical suggestions. There was a fair amount of back and forth to make sure that the estimates we were getting from two masons were comparing exactly the same things. We asked for a precise breakdown of the job costs, and that was readily supplied. He came to do the work a few days before his target date, probably because of a spate of excellent weather, but also, we suspect, because he plans well. His crew clearly knew what they were doing, working efficiently. The work area was immaculate when they left with the exception of the old iron railings, which will be removed by the welder who will install the new ones. The finished walk is beautiful, and we are delighted with it.

Jason was amazing! We originally called him to inquire about repairing our concrete stairs that had sunk. He advised us to the most affordable way within our budget which was actually not with masonry stairs. We did have Jason install a walkway with Holland pavers. He did a wonderful job. He was here very early to start work and completed it in just 1 1/2 days. It really gives the house a new look!

Jason was very professional, pleasant and easy to work with - same for his crew. I am on a hill and had 2 sets of stairs leading to my front door that had been built 63 years ago and were pretty tired looking and were not up to code. There was also a dangerous sloped walk in front of each set of stairs. The top set of stairs were concrete block and brick veneer and Jason removed those and then dug a 4 foot hole for footings and a slab because there was nothing sitting under the old brick stairs. He rebuilt the upper stairs with granite stone and granite treads and used the same stone and treads for the bottom stairs. The upper walk was seriously sloped down toward the bottom stairs, and Jason corrected the slope by adding 2 steps to the bottom set of stairs, and also added one step near the street to correct the slope on the bottom walk. They then cleaned up the concrete block side walls next to the bottom stairs by applying stucco. Jason laid the concrete cobblestone pavers that I chose and edged the walks with granite cobblestones. It took about 6.5 days to do everything. The stairs and walks look beautiful and I've gotten many compliments from neighbors who can't believe the transformation. In addition to being beautiful, my stairs and walks are now safe. I've already talked with Jason about coming back to do some smaller jobs, and I have no hesitation about recommending him to others and have done that already. I've worked with several contractors since I bought my house 4 years ago, and this was the most pleasant experience I've had so far.
Description of Work: Jason and his crew removed an old set of stairs and replaced them with new stone stairs, rebuilt a second set of stairs to match the other stairs, laid 2 walks with pavers, and cleaned up some concrete block walls with stucco.

It was a pleasure to deal with Jason at Kirby Masonry. I got the name on Angie's list with a 5% coupon. He called right back after I made initial inquiry, came out and looked at the job. He gave me a price that was below what I had expected. He asked if I could be flexible and let him choose the day for the job (around other work) as it was a small project for him. He called to tell me someone would be coming but there was a problem with his guy who didn't come. Jason called, explained and apologized. He sent a two man crew 2 days later who did the job in one day including cutting brick to place in gaps they thought were two big. After it had a chance to cure over the weekend they came back for final cleaning. It looks great! I realized when job was done I hadn't exactly gotten an okay on using they Angie's list coupon...called Jason and he said "no problem, take it off the total." I would definitely use them again.

Jason had be text him a picture of the work to be done with the address. He showed up next day with a quote. For the amount of work to be done, I felt it was reasonable and agreed to go ahead with the job. He showed up 2 days later with 5 guys and banged out the job in 2 days. They cleaned up everything and left nothing behind. It rained on day 2 so they had to leave a tarp over the steps all weekend. When they pulled it off, some concrete stuck to the tarp causing gaps in the mortar on a few bricks. It wasn't a big deal, but as I paid for the service, I wanted it to be up to my expectations. I texted Jason with a picture of what concerned me. He immediately got back to me and said he would be by the next day to fix the step. The next day, he sent me a picture of the repair saying it was complete. I got home and it looked good as new. Jason and his team are true professionals and easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone. They start early, clean up well and do a fine job. A+ in my book.

Simply fantastic! After the harsh winter, my existing stairs began to crumble and posed a potentially dangerous situation. II called Jason Kirby, and he responded immediately. He worked quickly and efficiently. Within two days, I had a gorgeous set of stairs that are sure to last for many years. The neighbors have commented on the impeccable workmanship. My stairs actually have become a conversation piece. Next, I plan to ask Jason to repoint the chimney. I reached out to Jason 4-5 times trying to have him come down and give me an estimate. I am not sure if he was too busy or just did not want to come by, but in the end I cancelled his visit after he did not show up at a scheduled time and did not call to let me know. I hope he does better service for others (when he does show up), but after my experience I would not say he was in an "A" category.

Jason was incredibly responsive. He quoted our job and was on site and working within 2 weeks. He and his crew worked quickly, diligently and neatly. Jason was present to work along side and oversee the crew and directed them to achieve a high quality result. The rebuilt walls are very sturdy and the cobblestone is finally visible after many years of obscurity. Our backyard retaining wall is plumb for the first time in more than 20 years. We originally scoped a project for 2 of our 3 walls but asked Jason to complete the third wall because of his high quality work. Jason has done the impossible. He has persuaded us that strong work ethic, high quality work and great customer service still exists. He is an A+.

I left Jason a message and he contacted me right away to schedule an estimate. I had 4 estimates from Angie's List and his was the most reasonable for the same work. He emailed me a detailed contract with a price. Once the weather was nice he contacted me again to schedule the work. He was prompted the day of the work and texted me when he ran into problem and we resolved them quickly. The work was done in 1 day and everything was perfect and clean when I got home. He told me he would come out in a couple days later for a final clean up,once they were fully dry and he actually did without me even having to call him or hound him, like most contractors. I had already paid him for the the full work. My steps are gorgeous and I would definately use them again!! Hassle free
