Description of Work: I called the provider on Saturday morning at 9 to check if they could provide a quote on a job. I was not sure if the office was open ( called the number provided by Angie's List) so wanted to leave a message for Monday's morning business. I am working mom and wanted to get the request for quote off my plate. My call did not go to a voicemail and got answered by a person - I start to talk to make my request- he cuts me off and says I should call at regular business hour. I am curious as to Why would you list your personal phone as a contact on the website if you don't want people to contact you? Why would you pick the phone if you don't want to answer a client instead of letting it go to the voicemail? Very unprofessional - will not call again!

Description of Work: Jason and his crew did an excellent job. They worked hard and did all the work very well. Took down 2 retaining walls and replaced with poured concrete. Removed old stone steps and replaced. Paved a large segment of the back yard with cement pavers. First they had to remove all the old brick that was existing. It was a lot of work and Jason was reasonable with his pricing. I would recommend him highly. There is another small wall which I will have him do when he has an opening in his schedule.

Description of Work: Removed a rectangle of concrete 8' X 10' X 5" and replaced it with fresh concrete. Also re-pointed my brick stairs. It went very well. Jason was a tireless worker working in 90 degree temperature. It was also very humid. I would hire him again in a minute. I highly recommend him.

Description of Work: We had our front steps and walkway redone. Jason put down marble steps with brick surround and pavers walkway with a marble step up from the driveway. He also reattached our iron railings. He was very helpful in dropping off paver samples and showing examples of our options. He worked quickly and our steps look wonderful.

We recently bought our first home, which is a 140 year old house. When we bought it the basement was dirty, a lot of the brick was crumbling and the inspector thought animals could get in through the foundation's holes. We wanted the work done quickly and before we moved in. Jason gave us a couple of options for the work with different price points, explaining the differences between each of them. He was very accommodating and he was always prompt, cheerful & courteous. I visited on the first day, the team was supposed to start at 8am and when I got there they were already on the roof taking it apart. The finished product looked great! All of the problems mentioned above were fixed and they cleaned up a lot of the dirt and debris so I no longer shudder when I think of my basement.
Description of Work: Chimney: Demolished chimney down to roofline. Rebuilt with new bricks and install new clay liners down to roof line. Build corbel on chimney and put a crown on top then installed a stainless steel cap on chimney. Stucco basement walls: Chipped all loose debris from all walls. Hosed down walls. Bricked all openings and repoint open joints. Put sponge finish on joints.

Jason booked time efficiently and was prompt to review the job and provide an estimate in both $ and time. They needed to bring in some equipment, and the team worked efficiently, both on the way in and cleaning up on the way out. Jason provided clear, helpful and actionable options for me and executed well. Afterward Jason came to check on the job and do some final clean up. Super job overall.

The job went well. Jason was a pleasure to work with. Excellent work and very professional.
Description of Work: Jason installed a new concrete walkway for us after removing an old brick walk that was very uneven and a trip hazard. He did the job exactly as requested and as he had described. There was one glitch...when they dug up the brick walkway, the crew discovered an older, much lower 6 inch thick concrete walk. That had to be removed. Jason was very reasonable in his price for this unplanned work. We are already planning another job with Kirby Masonry!

This was an extremely custom experience with a very happy ending. We noticed Kirby Masonry signs around our neighborhood in West Roxbury this summer and were impressed by the quality of craftsmanship. Jason's proposals for our project were detailed and very competitive; he was very conscientious about the timeframe and budget for our project. Jason is easy to work with and made every effort to understand our preferences and concerns and find solutions; for example we wanted our new bricks steps to look like older brick (minus the crumbling mortar!) and we wanted the brick flower box to curve to meet the walkway (this required a custom granite cut). On several instances Jason worked beyond the outlines of the contract: cutting and hauling heavy blocks of concrete from the old walkway to our backyard so we could reuse the material, as well as transporting wheelbarrowfuls of excavated soil to the backyard. Jason was very helpful in finding a creative solution to manage the 3 foot slope between the front walkway and the driveway which is now a lovely combination of landscaped greenspace, granite steps and a flower box. Jason and his team are professional, hard-working,and personable; the job site was well-managed and tidy at the end of each work day. Jason's overall experience was very reassuring and the craftsmanship of the work speaks for itself, amazing.
Description of Work: Kirby Masonry replaced the crumbling front brick steps and flagstone landing; removed an old concrete front walkway and replaced it with concrete pavers; removed asphalt driveway and replaced it with a concrete paver driveway; designed custom brick flower box and set three 3-foot granite steps into slope between front walkway and new driveway. Steps: -removed front columns and supported overhanging front portico to demo existing brick steps and foundation -built new foundation, new brick steps with granite treads -cut and installed granite stone for landing -reinstalled woods columns (hired a carpenter to ensure custom fit) -reinstalled wrought iron railings (hired a welder to ensure custom fit) Walkway: -removed existing walkway -installed new concrete paver walkway in herringbone pattern with perimeter border, flared in a curve to meet width of front steps -designed walkway to accommodate a challenging slope and ensure proper water run-off Driveway: -removed asphalt driveway -prepared a new foundation and built concrete paver driveway, herringbone pattern with perimeter border Flower Box and Granite Steps: -built 8x3 ft. brick flower box with granite cap -removed excess soil to reduce slope and eliminate need for retaining wall -installed granite steps into slope between driveway and front walkway

Jason's work is professional, prompt, and less expensive than his competition. He pays attention to details, like dying the mortar to match the rest of the building, that some masons neglect. This job was done a year ago and is holding up well.
Description of Work: Jason replaced several flaking concrete panels. Also replaced broken bricks and repointed where needed.

It went exceptionally well. After I called him initially, Jason, the owner, met me when I got home after work. He looked at the crumbly old walk, discussed options, and turned around a quote the next day for me. He communicated very clearly about what I should expect in terms of timing (both for the work itself and for his scheduling of the job). Well within the 'couple of weeks' window he committed, he called to give me 2 days notice that he'd be able to start. That was important to me to be able to notify everyone who would be affected by the disruption to access to the front of the house. The work was done in precisely the timeframe he said it would be, and came out beautifully (both in terms of the aesthetics and the slope to insure proper water run-off). Moreover, despite hostas encroaching on both sides of the walk, the work was done with virtually no disruption to the lawn or plants. I could not have been more satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Remove and replace front walk (concrete).
