The person did flush my water heater but he is more like a salesman. Trying to convince me to install a new water heater, which is still working fine. Then he did the "inspection" in 5 minutes after I told him I did not need a new water heater.

The water heater has a warranty and serial number that tells us how long the tank is expected to last. Your tank is at the end of its expected life. Our inspection includes notifying the customer of these type of issues. If you feel as though we did not perform the inspection as written in the coupon, why didn't you notify our follow up phone call? We definately would honor and perform the tasks as you expected. Also, we have GPS tracking on all of our vehicles. Per our records, one of our technicians was at your home on 8/23/12 for 1 hour, 31 minutes and 17 seconds. I am not sure how you feel as though we rushed your inspection? At $50 it is a great deal for you. An inspection is a way to find future, current, and past issues in order to eliminate problems in your home. We provided the service you purchased. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Tim Cossette

They were great and really good at explaining what they were doing and what issues they found. My only critique is that they could have done a better job cleaning up after themselves. I would use them again, though.

The work was done in a very professional manner. I have no complaints about the work. I do think I overpaid by a few hundred dollars once I actually observed all the work that was done. Titan quotes you a flat rate. So if the job takes longer than expected, you only pay what you were quoted. So if problems had occurred on this job, I suppose I would feel I like I got a better deal. I should also note, that are very knowledgeable and up-to-date on all the code requirements.

I took the BIgDeal from Angie's for the plumbing inspection for the entire house. The Person, Timothy Cossette, was pretty good in explaining things in detail. He also could of suggestions on how we can improve the efficiency by moving from oil heating to gas. He was very responsive in answering all the questions. He also sent me a quote for boiler replacement from oil to gas. Depending on boiler brand, it was ranging from 14000/- to 18000/- for doing the entire work (3 zones). Though they seem to be very professional, i would think the quote i got from them was on the higher side.

Setting up both appointments was easy, and the plumber arrived promptly on both occasions. The first appointment was to perform drain clean and assess overall plumbing situation as outlined on an Angie's List coupon we had purchased. However, there was a discrepancy between the plumber's understanding of what services were to be performed and the services actually listed on the coupon we printed out from Angie's List. This appears to be a mistake on the part of Angie's List: Reading the coupon word for word, the plumber and I discovered that another plumbing company was actually named in the fine print, even though Titan Plumbing was named in the coupon's heading. Since then, I have noticed that other Angie's List offers of coupons for plumbing services include the exact same wording, with the same list of services and the same incorrect name of the plumbing company in the body of the coupon, but with a completely different company's name at the top. Once we agreed on what services should be provided, things basically went fine. However, I would have to say that the amount Titan charged, even with the coupon, was far more than the services actually provided were worth: We essentially paid $1,100.00 to get two drains unclogged. I know plumbers are highly trained professionals and deserve to be fairly compensated. It's also true that I had been unable to unclog the drains myself, despite multiple attempts with multiple tools. But $1,100.00? Also, although the plumber was clearly well trained and apparently had a thorough knowledge of the technical side of plumbing, he seemed a bit young and inexperienced. He readily admitted that he was accustomed to working on newer houses in the suburbs and was unfamiliar with older houses like ours. It was clear he encountered some things he had not seen before. That being said, he was very personable and professional and did his best to explain to me in detail what he was doing as he moved from task to task. We probably won't use Titan Plumbing again, but I would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Unclogged kitchen sink and bathroom tub drains. Removed disposal in kitchen, installed regular drain pipes in its place. Attempted to replace trap under bathtub, but the existing one was so old, a modern trap would not fit in its place. Recommended complete bathroom remodeling to replace outdated plumbing and fix leak around tub. (We expected this would be necessary sooner or later.)

Great work performed; toilet removal and install was done well and all looks nice. Just felt I was grossly overcharged based on subsequent discussions with another plumbing company (and a bit of googling on my part). While I could have absolutely sought out additional quotes, I frankly was giving some value to the economics of time and just getting the project done. Further, the individual who came to provide the quote failed to notice substantial repair work (removal and replacement of tiles to even out the flooring) in order to make one install done well. I opted for sub-optimal install just to not further increase cost and time delay in getting the work done.

First Jared came out for a very thorough estimate. He spent a lot of time with me and described in detail the work that needed to be done. We hadn't done any maintenance on the boiler since we moved into the house 4 years ago and knew it was time, but we wanted someone who had experience with steam heat. He demonstrated his knowledge and answered all my questions. Scheduling was easy and the office called me with a reminder the day before they came out for the first day of work. Initial estimates were that it would take 2 days. It ended up taking 3 1/2 days but I didn't get charged any extra. Basically, you pay for the job and that's it rather than an hourly rate. Jason was one of the main plumbers that worked on the job. He was extremely courteous and very friendly. Again, he took plenty of time to answer any and all of my questions. I learned a lot about my heating system in the process. There were a few different guys that came out to help on various days (can't remember all of their names), but they were all nice and respectful of the property. At one point, one of the radiators had to come out to replace some of the connections. Because of the location in the kitchen, some of the vinyl floor may have been damaged in the process. Jason came and talked to me first before they proceeded with any of the work so we could troubleshoot and consider options. I really appreciated that rather than them going ahead with the work and I end up with a ruined floor. In the end, we found a great compromise and the damage to the floor was minimal and will be hidden behind a cart anyway. After the first day, I noticed a difference in my heat. It was much more evenly distributed in the house. I'm sure the vents had a lot to do with that (we had a hodgepodge of different radiator vents throughout the house from various owners and work done in the past). It was also much quieter. Plus, my kitchen and bathroom radiator were working so much better (it's amazing what putting the correct vents on your radiator can do). The make-up air fan is a little loud at times, but bearable. Again, they did an excellent job with the install and worked with me to decide on the best place for the inlet in the foundation so it met our needs. Overall, I was very pleased with the work they did and appreciated how courteous everyone was. They also cleaned up well after themselves. My only complaint is that their work is a bit on the pricey side, but I guess you get what you pay for. I don't know if I would have gotten the same level of service from another plumbing and heating company and I feel confident that the work was done properly. I also want to note the great customer service from the office. I talked with or emailed Amy on multiple occasions and she was very friendly and helped find times that worked for me to schedule the work. I greatly appreciated the reminder calls that you provided a day ahead of time too.
Description of Work: major work on our one pipe steam system for our 1929 house - installed make-up air intake for gas boiler -added squick tee and skim valve to boiler -replace all radiator vents -performed steam boiler maintenance and balance radiators -fix radiators in kitchen and downstairs bath from badly done renovation by previous owners - included replacing hot water radiator vents with steam vents, adding shutoff valves to radiators and replacing copper pipe with black steel Installed new kitchen faucet Fixed bathroom toilet

Top notch service all year round. There when you need them, very professional.
Description of Work: A long time ago, I read a funny article about putting your plumber on a retainer. Then, last year, Titan Plumbing & Heating completed a plumbing inspection and presented me with the opportunity to sign a retainer contract. I was so impressed with the professionalism of Jared, the plumber assigned to do the job, that I signed up on the spot. I am so glad I did. Over the past year, Jared and his colleagues from Titan have provided stellar service as we went through a particularly difficult problem, a collapsed drain pipe under our house. They responded quickly, sending someone out to assess the problem within an hour after I called. They devoted the time and resources to solve the problem in a way that made us feel like we were the only customers they had. Most important, they quoted a price and stuck to it, even when the job proved more difficult and they had to bring in an outside firm to dig out the concrete in our basement.

The Titan plumbing team performed the services exceptionally well. I was very impressed with them and they took the time to show me key areas of the pipe and explain wear and tear on older clay pipes. Very knowledgeable team and very professional. I came back to AngiesList to look up Titan's information to have them perform another job that I have. I saw some recent poor reviews and felt like I should write this review to show how good Titan's services really are. A couple of reviews have stated that Titan price gouges. Up-front pricing is something that I've never seen a plumber do; the reason why they don't is that plumbers are one of the most expensive per hour labor jobs out there. A 'friend' of the family who was a plumber charged my family over $1000 for a leak in the bathroom shower; that's price gouging. Titan states their prices up front and doesn't charge additional if their quoted. I think that people who expect professional work at amateur prices should use Craigslist instead of AngiesList. I will be calling Titan again for service again. They might be expensive, however, I will know how much I'm paying before I agree to it, and I know I will be getting my money's worth in service.
Description of Work: I purchased an AngiesList Big Deal coupon in which my main drain was snaked with their camera. They inspected the main and found several roots which they broke up and cleared. They also took the time to explain their PCAP plan for preventative maintenance.

In early October, Titan Plumbing performed an annual service on our heating system. Following the service, the Titan plumber, Jason, was unable to get the system to work, even though it had worked flawlessly through the previous heating season. On Oct. 12, another plumber, Jared, came to our house and explained that the burner of our heating system was defective, even though it was only 5 years old. He told us that our burner was designed to break down after a few years and that it needed to be replaced, at a cost of $5809.00. We paid down half of that to place the order for the part and were told it would take 4 to 6 weeks to get the part. A week later, our neighbor's plumber took a look at our heater because he found the estimate from Titan to be rather expensive. He brought a colleague who specializes in heating systems. The two repaired the burner in less than an hour, without any parts needed. He told us there was nothing wrong with the burner except for an adjustment, and that we had been taken advantage of by Titan. He also told us that our boiler didn't require the annual servicing that Titan had recommended. The heating system is now working fine again. In sum, we paid Titan $350 for an annual service contract, as part of which they performed an annual cleaning of the boiler that wasn't needed in the first place. Following the cleaning, the heating system didn't work and Titan talked us into a $6,000 repair, when there was nothing wrong with the unit except for an adjustment in the burner. It's fair enough for Jason to say he can't fix the burner. It's fraudulent for Jared to tell us that these units were designed to break, when he doesn't know a thing about them. Jared's comments suggests we're not the first household being taken advantage of in this way by Titan. Titan refunded our down payment after we threatened to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Update: Since there are several inaccuracies in Titan's reply, let me clarify them. 1. Titan offered a total of two other options, not five. The options were replacing the burner with one from a different manufacturer, at a somewhat lower cost (around $3000). We decided against that because Jared told us that burner had only a six-month warranty and he wouldn't recommend it. Or replacing only a part in the burner, which would have cost around $2000. We did not choose that option because Jared said he couldn't guarantee if the burner would actually work after that part was being replaced. 2. When Jason arrived, the burner wasn't running because Titan had asked us specifically not to turn it on, so that they could perform the service. 3. The plumber who ultimately fixed the burner didn't come from the manufacturer. He was a regular plumber who had experience with the kind of heating system we have. Apparently Titan does not. Again, the issue we have with Titan is not so much that they couldn't fix the heating system. It's that they tried to talk us into an expensive replacement that wasn't needed.
Description of Work: Titan performed an annual service on our heating system, which they offered as part of an annual contract we had with them.

Our account of what happened is of course different than the clients. Yes, we went to perform the Service Agreement boiler cleaning. As all boiler/heating manufacturers require maintenance. There is not a company in the world that we know of that makes maintenance free equiptment. When Jason arrived the conversion burner would not fire nor was it running. He tried to ignite the system with no luck. Jason proceeded to contact our supplier for advice. Our supplier put him in contact with the manufacturer's technical support staff. After 3 hours of troubleshooting, calls, and creating solutions the manufacturer suggested we replace the unit. The price the client posted on the review was for our top dollar/warranty option which they chose. We offered 5 other less exspensive options which the client neglected to post. The client chose the top option and we ordered the special merchandise part. Which upon refunding the client her money, Titan was charged a substantial amount for a restocking fee of a special ordered part. The client told me they had someone from the manufacturer to go out to their house directly, however this report states otherwise. I am not sure how the other plumber got it to run. We tried our best to repair it first and foremost. I am glad it is working now and you have heat. We feel bad that we could not get it to run. Please call the manufacturer and get confirmation that cleaning and maintenance is not required, as i have never heard of such a thing. Regretfully, Titan Plumbing

I had a leak under the kitchen sink that had occurred off and on, for weeks. I couldn't locate the cause or identify a time when this would occur. It became very frustrating and as the water would appear at any time, I stopped storing items under the sink. I called Titan Plumbing, and Jason saved the day.........he was very professional, courteous and determined to solve my problem. He determined that the area between the counter and undermount sink, was the cause. He explained that I wouldn't be able to use the sink for 24 hrs., if he sealed the area. Because I was having dinner guests and needed the sink, we scheduled Oct. 26th for Jared to seal the area. Jared was just as professional and courteous. Jason & Jared are great representatives for Titan Plumbing, and I will definitely recommend this company in the future.

My entire experience was great.
Description of Work: I used the special offer for Angie's List members to have my 5 toilets checked for potential problems. The plumber came and was very polite, knowledgeable, clean (he wore booties over his shoes) and pleasant. He checked all of my toilets and pointed out a potential problem with one. Since I had been having problems with that particular toilet (which is why I took advantage of the offier) I asked him to give me a quote and a scope of work for the replacement. Within a couple of weeks he had replaced my existing toilet with a newer more functional one at a price that was reasonable and fair. I then signed a service contract with Titan. They come in once a year and inspect my plumbing as well as clean out my gas boiler. They called to schedule my appointments and have followed through with the inspection and are scheduled to clean the boiler next month. It gives me a great deal of peace to know that there are no potential problems that I am not being made aware of. I would recommend Titan to anyone.

My experience with the water heater purge was so good that I asked him to quote a few other items while he was there. I have no doubt that the quality of Titan's work on these other jobs would have been excellent, but I simply could not afford the level of product and service they were proposing. Sadly, I'm more in the do-it-yourself price range...but if cost is not the driving factor and you're most interested in service and quality, these guys are definitely worth a call.

The Deal was for 1 hour of plumbing services. When I first purchased this deal, we only needed a new faucet installed. I went out and bought a new faucet to have ready. Shortly before the appointment, our kitchen sink became clogged. The clog then became the first priority - so when the man came, that was our first request. He was very good at discovering where the clog was, and in snaking it out. This took him less than 30 minutes, so I thought he could spend the next 30 minutes installing the new faucet. He then informed me that his work was based on "book time" and the 30 minutes he worked on the clog was "booked" to be an hour, so my "deal" was finished, and to put in the faucet would cost me an additional $283!! When I bought the faucet, Home Depot offered to arrange the install for $150, so the $283 quoted by Titan was almost double the standard price. I agreed to this price since I didn't want to wait longer on the faucet, but I would NOT use this company again, and I would NOT reccommend Titan to any of my friends. In fact, when a neighbor recently needed a plumber, I advised him to avoid Titan, because their prices were double the standard costs. In summary, this story makes a great cautionary tale at parties, and Titan Plumbing has become synomous with price gouging. Most people did not know that some plumbers use "book time" to shortchange their customers.

Another Big Deal gone wrong. Please see our other reviews about this issue, they are all bad sad to say. Long story short, we are a flat rate up front pricing company. This deal that we accepted to help Angie's List does not fit our type of company. Another "honorable and affordable" plumbing company started the deal with Angie's List and breached their contract. Then Angie's List asked our company to take over the deal. I made a very bad choice and accepted. Titan will no longer be running Big Deals due to this. It is very frustrating, receiving this kind of report. How could this customer give us B's for quality, responsiveness, and punctuality and not expect to pay for the quality service? We are not a Home Depot subcontractor. We supply best in the industry warranty packages. We are a professional plumbing company who will be there for all clients' plumbing, heating, and drain cleaning needs. Quality, responsiveness, and professionalism does come with a cost to provide such service. The question that I have is, why would you accept the proposal if you were not willing to spend the money? We do not force you to choose or use us. It's completely understandable if you could not afford to use our company, but to ruin our reputation because of your choice is not fair. Best Regards, Tim Cossette (Owner)

We have no record of this other than the purchased and cancelled deal. We apologize for the mistake, I am not sure how it went wrong. We answer all calls, call the day before for confirmation, and also have a follow up phone service to make sure clients are satisfied. Sorry for the mishap. They lured me with the low estimate to check the sewer outlet via amera which was fine and well done over all. I naively asked them to snake a shower drain that had given me trouble. They have a fixed price of over 200 dollars, non negotiable. I should have declined but had taken off work that morning. the job was well done but at too high a price. I contacted the company to complain after the fact but never heard anything back.

The total cost you have it not accurate, per the invoice you were supplied and endorsed. The break down is as follows: 1) Sewer camera coupon - service performed per coupon 2)Tested and found clogged second floor shower drain, snaked - $207 3) Purchased 1 can of Bio Clean drain maintenance product - $59 This totals to $266. Also we recommended installing a screen to catch hair to eliminate future clogging. However, I do not have any record of your call. If you would like to call again to discuss, please feel free to do so. We charge according to overhead, payroll, insurance, trucks, gas, well trained technicians etc. How could we provide you with good quality, punctuality, responsiveness, and professionalism for a cheap price? I am sorry that you feel you payed more than you thought you should. Best Regards, Tim Cosette Owner

We recently bought an old home that has a laundry list of repairs and renovations. The owner came to our home, prioritized the repairs that we necessary right away and within the hour we had signed a contract. One week later they performed the services. It was extremely easy and efficient. I was impressed by the level of organization around the services we selected. They offer a number of pricing options/membership plans which come with additional services and discounts. When they came for their first visit the owner brought a pricing book that showed all the services/products and the cost for each under the plans. This made it very easy to calculate the discounts and total cost. Also, although we were not aware of some of the coupons they were currently offering they applied them to the final bill anyway.
Description of Work: Titan Plumbing and Heating performed the following services for us: 1. Supplied and installed a new 40 gal gas water heater. 2.
