Titan Plumbing & Heating

I bought two $75 Toilet tune-up deals from Titan Plumbing in 2012, promptly forgot about them, and they expired. In early 2013 Titan Plumbing contacted me and asked me if I was still interested; they would honor the expired deals. I took them up their offer. The tune-up was advertised as (cut'n'pasted from the Angie Special Deal certificate) The 5-point toilet tune-up includes: ? Inspecting and adjusting the fill valve ? Cleaning the flush valve seat ? Replacing the worn flapper ? Adjusting the tank lever operation ? Inspecting the condition and functionality of the toilet emergency shut off valve and supply riser. I didn't really get that and I was disappointed with what I got. The tune-up, in fact, consisted of dropping blue dye tablets in the toilet tank and testing for leaks -- and a really long sales pitch to replace all my toilets. They key argument being that my existing toilets were old, used too much water, and the flappers/valves/etc could no longer be replaced. The first two points are valid but the last one was patently false; I ended up replacing them myself with after-market kits from Home Depot. On the other hand, the fellow did inspect three toilets (I had only paid for two tune-ups) and he cleaned out my bathtub drain (while criticizing non-stop the vendor who had installed the bathtub faucets/crain.) So here's the summary: I don't have any particular complaint with Titan Plumbing; I didn't get exactly what I expected but they did do some work for me so I figure it evened out. I'd try them again if I need plumbing work. I will not, however, be buying any more "toilet tune-up" specials from Angie's List or any other source. B overall because the tune-up was a bit of a bait-n-switch, and for the 30-minute sales spiel was annoying. C for price and quality as it essentially was $150 to snake out my bathtub drain.

Work was performed fine. Tried to upsell additional services (oil to gas heating conversion for: $12,000+; regular maintenance program.) Felt like a sales pitch, not a friendly plumber call.

The house we moved into has 1980's 5-gallon toilets. One of them was spontaneously topping up its tank every few hours. I suspected a leaky flapper valve, but the whole mechanism was so old that a general checkup seemed advisable. The Big Deal "5-Point Toilet Tune-Up" sounded like just the thing. The Titan rep put dye in the tank to see if it appeared in the bowl. It didn't, and he concluded the leak must be somewhere else. He explained that codes did not allow him to fix a toilet that old, and it would be more economical to buy a new toilet. He did not do any of the five tune-up items, and my problem remained. Eventually I inspected the flapper valve myself; it was clearly roughened along the sealing area. I replaced it ($7 part), and the problem has not recurred. I would have been happier if the Titan rep had done that, even with a proviso that it might not fix the problem.

Upon inspection, the sewer line did not have any issues. They wanted to sell me their maintenance package, but I declined at the time and appreciated that they didn't push nearly as hard as they had in a prior visit.

Jared was thoughtful, detailed and thorough. He explained what he thought and why, offered different strategies and didn't push me to make a decision. Titan has always gone the extra mile for us, and I'm glad to be working with them again.

They came and did a good job. They were there on time and fixed everything that was included in the coupon. He was also courteous.

I had purchased a big deal for the service, and my washing machine now works very well. They were prompt, efficient, and they provided me with 2 new metal covered hoses, without any additional charge, and so the price was great.

Titan was great - Jared spent a lot of time with me explaining the situation/options/recommendations and made himself totally available. In fact, then I had mini-emergencies later, I called him and he was there the same day. They treated me with respect. The only reason for the "B" price rating is that they are a full service plumbing and heating company and so by definition are more expensive than a single plumber on his own. However, the service and thoroughness, and the fact that I trust their prices is worth the extra cost to me. Titan is very competitive (or lower priced) than other similar full service companies. I need a new boiler and I am having Titan do that work as well. They are my "go-to" company now.

I don't want to be disparaging but my experience as a customer was at best disempowering. The boiler 'information' I received was too much too fast to adequately process; there were a lot (!) of self-congratulating stories told and negative statements made about other plumbing contractors' competence; fear tactics were used such as my boiler could explode and the warranty would be voided if the company saw how improperly it had been piped. Pretty soon we were sitting at the kitchen table with a list of recommendations including near-total boiler re-piping, a new passive water heater and and a 5 year comprehensive service contract. With a gold (?) membership discount the total was only ~$18,500 :). I was asked to put 50% down that night and actually produced my credit card and did so, though I was feeling very uncomfortable with the sales-y vibe and the fact that things were happening so quickly.... Almost as soon as the technician left I decided I needed to get my money back, solicit other opinions and bids, and make a more reasoned choice. I called the office the next morning and found the office person Amy to be kind and respectful, she did refund the deposit within a few days. I had also asked to speak with the owner because I wanted to give him feedback about my experience but was instead redirected to the same technician. Anyhow, from the feedback I've gotten subsequently, at least some of what I was told was accurate, and some possibly not so much..... I ultimately ended up scheduling my service with Ray Cadotte who has gotten excellent reviews and I found very trustworthy in our dealings.

Was very good, they a very professional, cleans up after himself. Even though he had to drill holes in the wall he has arranged for a carpenter to correct that.

We'd had lots of problems with the sewer line, and no problems since, so I don't doubt that it was wise to replace it. I did wonder though if the good deal on televising was an excuse to get more people to pay lots of money to replace their sewer lines. Titan provided good service throughout, although the subcontractors that were hired to do the excavation to replace the sewer line were frustrating to deal with (didn't show up when they said they would, job took longer, and they made a mess of the sewer on the street by pouring concrete into it.)

It went well They answered all of our questions and were very polite.

Professional, clean, informative and helpful. Unfortunately, he was unable to use the televised feature because of a bend in our line, so I didn't get to see the line on a monitor as advertised. He checked out a few other plumbing issues I was concerned with and provided a timely and reasonable estimate for that work. After our appointment, I was added to a mailing list that sends out updates and reminders on homeowner concerns related to plumbing. I would use them again.

I wasn't actually there when he came in, I can't remember the exact circumstance if we left the house unlocked or something 'cause we have the leak and we needed it to be repaired, maybe my wife was there but I can't remember. He came and he figured out what it was and it was not at all what I was expecting but he turned it off and then left a message to follow-up, I thought it was my water heater that was leaking and in fact it was the irrigation system so he stopped the leak which is important and then I ended up using the irrigation company to fix the irrigation system and he asked if I wanted to talk further with him about replacing the water heater which I didn't actually follow-up on.

I wanted to upgrade my heating system and the technician just gave me an estimate. At the time, it was really overwhelming, and I have still put the overall project off.

He explained it to me and fixed it. He was great. I trusted him and he did a good job. Titan is good. It's kind of out of my area, physically. They're a little high.

Titan Plumbing & Heating were okay. It seemed like it was more of a sales type of thing for them, rather than like a service call. I wouldn't buy it again from them. Not that I wouldn't use them again, if I hired them directly, but I wouldn't use them again for a Big Deal. They came out not to much after I purchased the Big Deal. This was the first time I've used them. They were okay. Nothing out of the ordinary. I had them check one of my toilets and they tried to sell me a new one that was about $600.00, which was not really necessary. I mean, I just needed a part inside changed, when another person had looked at it. [00:03:16]. Then, they looked at the water heater and then they recommended a $6,000.00 system. Not what they were hard selling me on it, but that was like sort of what they were saying. I was like, "I get kind of what you're trying to do here, so..."

They are always trying to over charge. They made up work that needed to be done that wasent even true. They charged me $120 to tell me what was wrong. I called another company and they came and fixed the problem for only $300. It ended up being a clogged filter that needed to be replaced. It was not anything they tried to tell me was wrong.

I did not work with them and I felt like it was a real scam. They are a great cash cow. They came out and did a plumbing evaluation. He said that my furnace was on its last legs. They wanted to charge me $13,000 for something that most people would for $6,500. He was more than happy to have a single mom take out a loan to pay double what it should have been. I was able to get the same thing for $6,500 and it seems to be running fine. They were outrageous. They were responsive, they came, they saw and tried to get. I think that it was very unprofessional of them to try to get that out of me. I would never use them again.

He was on-time and he answered any questions I had.

They were great. It was a low-level transaction. I would use them again. The price was good.

Wasn't really helpful. The guy they sent out was not very professional. Told me it was dangerous to stay in my home cause the sewer could back up at anytime, using scare tatics cause when I asked for estimates never would give me one. He had a bad attitude and seems be like if I wasn't going to do a big job then I was on my own. I haven't done anything to the sewer line and nothing is wrong. He was more a high pressure salesman more than a professinal plumber.

They were okay. They were good. There were no problems.

They came out and they were not able to mount the humidifier to the furnace, so I got a refund. They were professional and apologetic, so we have no complaints. He explained our options as far as getting a replacement, but since our furnace was still functioning, we declined his offer.
