I any case, Cape Ann very much understood my plight and Melissa specifically worked efficiently and happily to get new cabinets ordered. They arrived this week, are being installed and are absolutely gorgeous. Also, they are high quality and were competitively priced.
Three minor challenges / observations and thus the 4 versus 5 star rating ...
1/ I expected the delivery on Monday, which moved to Monday - Wednesday, which moved to Thursday. This prompted a lot of juggling and rescheduling of our contractors who were scheduled on the earlier promise.
2/ Bulky stuff that we didn't order was delivered to us (presumably someone else's order). It sat on our new wood floors three days and was very much in the way.
3/ Stopped in at one point to check on the status of the cabinets and person working said she knew nothing -- nor was she willing to lift a finger or make any effort to help figure it out. I saw her do the same thing to another customer last Saturday, which turned them away.
Our kitchen is gorgeous - we are very happy with the cabinets and all the wonderful customer service at Cape Ann.
Update: to the company response, you don't have your facts, these were all to correct blatant errors. I just wanted to renovate the kitchen and add a half bath. Melissa went on vacation without sending the original plans so it was 5 full weeks and multiple emails before she sent them. When they came there was no half bath in the plans, which was what I'd requested. In the "corrected" set of plans, the measurements of the space where the bathroom was to go were incorrect - it showed the back hall as being twice as large as it is, where instead there are cellar stairs. EIght weeks in I even went to the office to meet with her, we discussed the corrections and it was another 4 weeks before I got the plans.
Making corrections to errors like omitting the bathroom and mis-measurement of a room does not sound like going over and above to me.
"A full set of plans were provided within a month after initial home consultation. Revisions and multiple designs of kitchen and bathroom were provided as a courtesy and were not part of the Big Deal coupon that was purchased from a different contractor. Although the revisions were not included we wanted to be sure you had a plan that you were happy with. We went above and beyond the scope of the coupon offer."
After we approved her design/layout we went to her showroom so she could show us the cabinets that were in our price range. We didn't like the finishes so we went up to the next cabinet line, which we are extremely happy with. Tricia reworked the options with the new design while we were there and we were able to leave with an order placed for exactly what we wanted, for about 25% more than we had originally planned on spending (but it was definitely the right decision for us!) She followed up with the cabinet and delivery companies and made sure we got our delivery on time and with no damage or missing items.
We also ordered our countertops through her and she was very helpful in getting us a good price on what we wanted. We had to switch our plans mid-way through because the first supplier didn't have what we wanted and kept giving out wrong information. In fact, we had problems with both suppliers giving out incorrect information, but Tricia kept at them until we got something close to what we wanted. She also dealt with the fabricators to resolve a problem with the delivered countertop. She was also good about insisting that we get very precise measurements - if we had done it my way, there would have been a problem with the installation!
The only problem we had was sometimes communication was a bit slow, but nothing that affected the overall timeline of the project.
