Very responsive and very honest.

When we called on this gentleman, it was the busy season in the fall and he still managed to come to our home within 2 to 3 days. He was extremely knowledgeable in what he was doing and obviously very experienced. He took safety very serious and explained everything we needed to do and why. This was well worth the expense.

Erwin has serviced my chimney for many year and I called him to inspect my chimney cap. A homeowner inspection suggested that there might be a leak. I had called him as the weekend was approaching and though he said he would try to come out to check on the problem, he was unable to do so. Erwin came out after a couple of calls back and forth. As he had maintained the chimney, he was sure that there was not a problem. But upon inspecting the chimney he decided to apply caulking around the outside in the tar which surrounded the chimney cap.

I called yesterday and he came out today. This guy is super friendly, professional, and clean. He cleared out our fireplace flue and taught us how to use our dilapidated damper (thus avoiding replacing it right now). The estimates for the chimney repair were $1800 to cut and re-point each chimney, and $200 to cap each flue. We'll probably go ahead with the chimney caps.

Excellent. Our gas water heater had gone out and the problem involved the chimney draft. Mr. Liverman did a superb job of first confirming the source of the problem, checking safety issues and then making a solid repair. Upon further inspection he found and repaired other problems with flues. Throughout he explained what he was doing and why. It's always a pleasure to have a craftsman who knows his field so thoroughly and finds genuine creative satisfaction in problem solving.

He arrived at the house without knowing what he was supposed to do (even though when I hired him over the phone that it was very clear), and he had no ladder, so was not able to go onto either roof to inspect fully. He said he could see what he needed from the ground, but I doubt it. And we ended up paying for an inspection that gave us no more information than we had already gotten from the home inspector (who had said "hire a chimney inspector so that you can get a full report"). Erwin was great on the phone, but I'd never hire him again.

It went well. He was very professional, has been cleaning chimneys for 45 years and seemed like he knew exactly what he was doing. He did not make any mess and had several helpful recommendations for the fireplace. A very nice guy.

He was terrific: friendly, considerate and accommodating of scheduling requests. He checked our main fireplace flue as well as the gas vent flue. He pointed out a couple quirks about our fireplace that might need attention in the future, and answered questions about fireplace safety and operation in an old house. Highly recommended!

Erwin had to re-schedule a couple of times coming out to the house for the estimate, this prolonged the process. However, once we agreed to move forward, he scheduled the job and his team came out the morning of Christmas eve and did the work in a few hours. I didn't realize he was going to sub-ctonract the job (I thought Erwin was coming to do the work). Despite this surprise, the team he sent was professional, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves.

Mr. Liverman did an excellent job. He was on time, and very efficient in performing the work requested. He was very careful in setting up the room to avoid spreading any dirt around due to the cleaning, and cleared up thoroughly when done. He also pointed out several smaller issues (stained brickwork) and cleaned this up as part of the overall job. He also gave me lots of useful information regarding replacing a missing flue handle and showed me the correct way to build and start a fire correctly. An excellent job!

Easy to get appointment. They arrived promptly. Professional and knowledgeable. Price was what was quoted.

Mr. Liverman was very professional, punctual and reliable. I asked his opinion on repairs required and he was very honest, definitely not out to make money on his clients. He suggested the repairs over the next few years, but said it was not urgent. He took the time to show me details, I would need to keep an eye on and explained what he did in great detail. Obviously seeing I was a novice. His approach was personable, professional and efficient. I highly recommend him for his good honest work.

Was extremely prompt, corteous and professional. Gave me lots of fireplace advice, lighting fires, etc. and told me I could call him if I need to ask him any other questions at a later date. Was honest enought to tell me fireplace didn't need to be cleaned so there would be no extra charge - I would highly recommend him! Seemed extremely knowledgeable. I know 1 other person who has used him and said he was 'the best' - he has had a great reputation around town with good reason.

Another company told us that our chimney was badly in need of repair, that large chunks of the lining were about to fall down, placing us in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. I was suspicious because I know, from my own experience and articles, that this is a common ploy to frighten people into getting an expensive new liner. I got a second opinion from E. Liverman, who was recommended by a friend. Mr. Liverman told me that the liner was getting a bit thin but by no means falling apart and that we did not need a new liner. He said there was no way the other company could have seen what he said he saw, because the chimney has a bend in it. He also adjusted the furnace pipe for efficiency. I recommend E. Liverman highly.

Prompt, honest. He could have told me that it needed a cleaning, but he didn't.

I HAVE USED HIM BEFORE AND WOULD USE HIM AGAIN. HE HAS ALSO ADVISED SEVERAL TIMES THAT I DID NOT NEED TO DO ADDITIONAL WORK. HE ALSO HAS DONE ADDITIONAL WORK WHEN NECESSARY AND DID NOT ASK FOR EXTRA CHARGE.

ALTHOUGH HE WAS LATE IN ARRIVING, HE DID CALL TO SAY HE WAS RUNNING LATE. PROVIDED ADVICE ABOUT PROBLEMS (DOWNDRAFT AND SMELLS).

THE EXHAUST FROM OUR FURNACE WAS NOT WORKING WELL. ERWIN LIVERMAN CAME AND PUT IN NEW ACCESS PORT TO THE CHIMNEY AND THEN CLEANED OUT THE PREVIOUSLY INACCESSIBLE PARTS OF THE CHIMNEY. HE WAS EASY GOING, RELAXED, DELIGHTFUL TO HAVE AROUND AND JUST GENERALLY A WONDERFUL PERSON. HE ALWAYS RETURNED PHONE CALLS PROMPTLY, HAD NO PROBLEM WITH MY CHECKING OTHER PEOPLE BEFORE USING HIS SERVICES, ETC.

HE WAS GOOD ABOUT SCHEDULING AND CALLING TO SAY HE WAS ON HIS WAY. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. HE WAS VERY PLEASANT AND CLEAN.

THE THING I LIKED ABOUT HIM IS HE MADE SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR MY FIREPLACE TO FUNCTION BETTER, WAS VERY NEAT, AND WAS HONEST ABOUT HOW FREQUENTLY I SHOULD HAVE IT DONE. I HAD MY CHIMNEY CLEANED ONCE BEFORE AND WAS TOLD IT SHOULD BE DONE EVERY YEAR NEVER ASKING HOW FREQUENTLY I USE IT.

VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS.

HE RETURNED MY CALL PROMPTLY--EVEN DURING HIS BUSIEST SEASON AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF THE CALL. I REQUESTED THAT HE CLEAN CHIMNEY AND ADVISE ABOUT WHETHER IT NEEDED TO BE RELINED. HE WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL, HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL. DON''T KNOW TOO MANY OTHER TRADESMEN WHO WOULD RATHER GIVE YOU GOOD ADVICE THAN TRY TO SELL YOU SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT NEED. HE COMPLETELY TALKED ME OUT OF SPENDING AN ADDITIONAL $2800 TO RELINE THE CHIMNEY AT THIS TIME. HE''S BEEN PERMANENTLY ADDED TO MY SHORT LIST OF PREFERRED CONTRACTORS! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS THIS TYPE OF WORK!
