I was very pleased. I have recommended them to other people. They do good work. They are very prompt and very professional. They were pleasant and competitively priced. They do what they say they are going to do and they are out. They are dependable.

Our boiler broke on the coldest day of the year. I called several plumbers in the area for emergency service, and I was extremely impressed by how quickly Baker Elman was able to respond. They had had over 60 other emergency calls that day due to frozen pipes, but they managed to be very caring and treat me in a non-rushed manner. The repair work ended up being very minor, but it saved us from frozen pipes and a huge headache. Notably, the same repair had to be done a second time about a month later. Baker Elman did not charge us for the service call, parts or labor. We found this to be very impressive and honest.

they came, they saw, they conquered and i'm now happily doing all the laundry that has piled up and am enjoying zero sounds of water rushing into the machine and zero sounds and feel of pipes pounding and shaking the house! this is the second time i've called them and, not from the area originally, is the first company i feel comfortable calling again, and again ... like the kinds of ordinary reasonable companies that I grew up with in a small town. they left everything exactly as they had found it, no working mess left behind. they even picked up random towels that I had tossed on the floor to catch water that might drip. And, above all, even though the outside walkway has turned to mud sludge, they did not traipse any of it into the house as they entered and exited to the truck and such! love 'em! they're terrific. much appreciate their helpfulness and good work.

They came mostly to familiarize with my house. They didn't really do any work. I wanted them to see my house in case they do have to come and do the work. It was a service call.

Discovered water on the floor near hot water heater around 7 am. Was not sure if water was from the hot water heater or leak due to ice dams. With the help of a plumber by phone, we determined it was the hot water heater. The Boston area was in the middle of back to back snowstorms. The company was pulling its trucks off the road. At first, they thought they would not get there until Thursday (this was Tuesday). They kept me up to date on the status of the delivery. And the owner came by to help the serviceman. Everyone went out of there way to get a new hot water heater in before the old one flooded the basement. The customer service person was very understanding and calm. They even followed up the next day by phone. I am recommending them to all my friends!

I called then on a very cold day in January with a leaky frozen pipe and they showed up in 10 minutes ( I swear) and fixed the job in 2 hours. They were great!

I had an emergency repair issue in a condo I own with a tenant, where a gas leak was detected in the elbow fitting to the stove by NStar. I called Baker-Elman that morning and explained the situation, and they scheduled a tech to come within a few hours. As I don't live in the building, I requested a call before the tech arrived, which he did and I met a very pleasant guy named Mark who was right on time. That's really appreciated. He got to work right away, fixed the problem quickly and let me know I'd receive the invoice by email. I just received my invoice, the price was very reasonable, and all the communication with this company was top notch. I highly recommend Baker-Elman, this is a professional company with super nice and efficient people on staff.

Baker-Elman was great. When I explained with considerable anxiety that there was water leaking through to the ceiling below the bathroom, they asked for details and then sent someone within an hour. The plumber who came figured out the source of the leak (not easy since it was from a bathtub/shower pipe behind a panel), explained the way the water moved, and worked hard to repair the problem. Though he had a list of other calls, he made sure it was fixed and demonstrated to me that it was. He then explained how the external shower fixture could be replaced.and how the surrounding tile also needed reinforcement. He then reported to the office, so that when I called them, they were ready to recommend someone to do the follow up work. The price cited included both the plumbing and the follow up tile work.

They came on time, and had the problem fixed within 30 minutes. They cleaned up after themselves and were very nice. The person on the phone who coordinated the appt. was also very friendly.

On the coldest evening of the year, my heat stopped working. I have two young kids, so this was a real emergency. I called several other companies before this one, and could not get anyone to come out. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly, and explained that she would do her best to help me, but could not guarantee a time. Within an hour, she called me back to say that David (I think that was his name) would be over soon. When he arrived, it took him about 3 minutes to ascertain what the problem was, and determine the part that was needed. Unfortunately, it was a relatively rare part that he did not have on hand. After calling one of his colleagues, who also did not have it, he offered to stop at Home Depot on his way home to see if they had it. If they did, he would come right back and do the job. He called me about 45 minutes later to let me know that they did not have the part, and he would not be able to get it until the morning. After a long night huddled in one bedroom with a space heater, David was back at my house by 8 o'clock in the morning, with the part. The job was complete before 9, and the heat was back on. My experience with this company was fantastic. They were very responsive, polite, and efficient. I was expecting to pay a high price for emergency service, but was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. I will definitely call them again.

This job started a few months earlier. However when the plumber initially tried to replace the toilet, he found that the underneath floor was rotten. This necessitated interrupting the job until the floor could be repaired. Baker-Elman suggested some contractors and I chose one that was highly rated on Angie's List, Jeff Veglia (see my report). When the floor was repaired, the toilet could be installed and it was done quickly and well.

Called this morning about frozen pipes and spoke with Cheryl Elman. She was very pleasant and personable as I explained my situation. She offered her advice and placed me on her service list. She also explained to me what they would and wouldn't be able to do which I felt was very honest and helpful in gauging my expectations. In the end however, the problem fixed itself and I didn't need their services. It was a good first experience with them and I wouldn't hesitate to give them another call for any future work.

Baker Elman was the third plumber I called, after finding that they had an A rating on Angie's list. They came promptly and got the water flowing right away by sending an electrical current through the pipes. Unfortunately we didn't leave the faucet running enough during the night; it was another very cold one, and the pipe froze up again. David Elman came out again and got the water running, this time at no charge.

The staff at the office were responsive and friendly. They answered all my questions the day I called and they were able to install the hot water heater the next day. Even though I gave some wrong information, they were extremely professional and polite. The employees were efficient. I ended up needing to hire an electrician because the electrical connection was not long enough for the new hot water heater, but everything worked great after I got that done.

I had a problem due to frozen pipe in the basement. I called Baker Elman for an ASAP service. The lady on the phone was extremely pleasant and helpful. She said that they were busy so she will call me to let me know when they could be out at my house and also said that she would definitely try and get someone the same day as she didn't want me and my family without water. She called back about 20 minutes later to tell me that she will be sending Mark to my house. She also answered my many questions (as I am a first time homeowner and don't know a lot about such stuff) patiently and also suggested some do-it-yourself ideas so I could fix it myself and hence wouldn't require a visit. This clearly shows that they are a honest company and they rely on helping the customers even if it means that they may not make money on that call. I am sure they are so successful and have great ratings because such an attitude will give a company repeat customers in the long term and I will definitely use them in future. Mark came to my house and we found an section of the pipe which had a small leak at the joint. He pushed the pipe in to fix the leak and after that the water was flowing in my house. I am not sure what fixed the frozen pipe issue, maybe the pushing of the pipe into the joint caused a small frozen piece to dislodge or it was just that the ice melted as it was getting warmer. Mark checked the other places in my house just to make sure I didn't have a larger issue. He didn't rush to leave just because the water issue was resolved and patiently answered my other questions and also a few questions about my furnace. He also gave me suggestions about insulating my basement windows and basement door to prevent such things from happening again. If I ever need plumbing services, Baker Elman is the company I will use. They are honest, prompt, responsive, helpful and patient.

The people arrived on time and worked as quickly as they could. Did a very good job, and cleaned up after they completed the work. The installation took a little longer than they expected but they did finish it before leaving. The replacement of the faucet had to be scheduled for a couple of days later.

i called baker elman (based on angie's list scores) around 2pm and was very pleasantly surprised to hear that they might be able to squeeze me in the same day. their dispatcher made some calls and set things in motion almost immediately. a plumbing supply truck came to my house and delivered the new heater, leaving it outside in my driveway. a half hour later the plumbers from baker elman arrived and started work. the job was somewhat complicated as it involves gas connection, water connections, and a PVC external vent, and electrical. they worked for 3-4 hours total, completing the job around 6:30 pm or so (i assume that's overtime for them). overall, they did a good professional job, but i am most happy about the way the scrambled to get the job done fast, so i didn't even have to go a single night without hot water. i would definitely call them again in a similar circumstance.

this was done in a very neat, clean and efficient manner. the sink is secured strongly to my basement/concrete wall; all connections are tight; nothing sloppy. my initall reaction to the price/estimate was to think it a bit high, however two additional estimates from other plumbers were even higher. I am very satisfied.

The individual they sent was unable to clear a drain using a simple air ram, and did not have a drain snake (really, no drain snake as a plumber?). He also replaced a diverter valve after telling my wife that it was not in need of replacement. Since he did not have a drain snake, he recommended we call another company, whose card he "happened" to have. After basically doing nothing, he charged us $117 and left. We called the other company and they came in and charged us $190 to snake the drain. Needless to say, I was not happy, so I called Baker Elman the following day. David Elman issued me a refund check after discussing what had taken place. I personally will not be using them again, however, after this experience, but the caveat, as always, is that your results may be better given your situation and the person who comes to your house, as seems to be the case with the majority of the reviews here.

Contacted the emergency number and John rang back within minutes. He explained the likely cost for an emergency repair and said he would arrive within about an hour. John turned up on time and quickly got to work, repair completed in about an hour. Cost for labor and parts explained - he even apologized for the premium because it was classed as an emergency. Very professional and would definitely use them again.

I live in an old house with old plumbing and things are starting to go. I had a leaky kitchen sink and a leaky faucet in the bathroom. I was going to fix each of these things myself, but when I started I realized given the age and amount of rust, etc. that I should contact someone who really knows what they're doing...much more so than me. I scheduled the appointment in one week. I was the first appointment of the day and unfortunately they were late, but I learned there was a very bad accident snarling traffic...no problem. The serviceman was very respectful and changed shoes before coming in. I showed him the problems, he explained what he was going to do and the risks with older plumbing and in about an hour he was done. I will definatly use them again.

The men took care of the 3 issues as requested. Per my request they explained the various matters to me in Sesame Street language so that I now have a better understanding of the various systems. They were professional: punctual, courteous, had spare parts handy and knew what they were doing.

Excellent service, When I called he arrived on time gave me an estimate and emailed me a detailed quote for the work to be done. I called him after I had an electrical connection installed and he immediately set up a date and arrived on time. His workers were efficient, responsive and explained everything to me when I asked the questions. Great job, this will be my plumber of choice.

Baker Elman did an outstanding job. The company owner David Elman came to our house soon after we contacted his company and responded quickly with a quote. The heater was installed three days later. After installation the heater needed an adjustment, David came back the same day we called and made the adjustment. Baker Elman is very responsive, does very good work and provides outstanding customer service. We highly recommend this company.
