They could not fix my problem; I had to call someone else. Did not like paying an added 'gas' fee.

My husband cleaned out the old grout and replaced it That and making sure that the shower curtain remains inside the tub has cured the problem. No more leaks to the kitchen thanks to Kennie's solving the puzzle.

Arrived on time. Performed the job expertly. Accepted the Angies List discount (no fuss, no muss). Checked a few other areas as a courtesy. The plumber is courteous, professional, and oozed expert knowledge. The price charged is fair. Overall, an extremely pleasant experience.

The work was really well done. They were quick to respond and quick to get the work done. They were really upfront and easy to work with. I will use them again in the future.

Outstanding service. We had an emergency situation with our hot water heater and Baker Elman came through for us again. This is our "go to" plumbing company. Highly professional, responds very quickly (I received an email on Sunday evening that an appt. had been scheduled first thing on Monday) and their prices are very reasonable.

The estimate was very high. Of five estimates they were the highest. They estimated based on the incorrect furnace. The person they sent out was not knowledgeable.

I would use them again for any plumbimg problem.

i had made an appointment a week in advance for a morning repair. They said they would arrive between 9 and 12. They did not show up until 4 pm to begin the hot water heater replacement!! I had to call the office to find out where they were. There wasn't enough time to complete the second repair that I had scheduled at the same time, so I had to schedule another appointment on another day. They did show up on time for the second appointment. If you are working and not at home all the time, waiting around all day long and making several appointments on different days is a real inconvenience. Having said that, the work they performed was excellent and everything works properly.

Prompt response to a no heat situation. Professional. Very reasonable price.

All work was done as promised, in a timely manner. Costs were what had been quoted, even though they ran into a few piping problems with Disposal and Water heater.

I hired them after seeing the other reviews on Angie's list and was very happy with the choice. The receptionist was very helpful and courteous, they had a time within 24 hours to come by. They gave a 3-hr window and the plumber (Kenny?) showed up very promptly at the start of that window. He was professional, efficient, focused, and was in/out quickly. The toilet needed to be taken up and resealed. During that process, he even asked if I had cleaning products and proceeded to clean underneath where the toilet had been, kindly explaining that it's rare to get under there so we might as well make it clean. He explained clearly what was happening, gave me tips for the future, and looked at a few radiators while he was there. They charge by the hour, and there was no service fee just to show up. They only charge for the work. The day after this service, we had a major fire in Somerville at a rental property. We needed a plumber for that, and I called these guys immediately. They did not have availability to come right away , so we hired someone else (whose hourly rate was a bit higher). But, what I loved is that the receptionist actually called me back a little while later to follow up and see if we had found someone. She would've give me a referral of someone else, and just wanted to be sure we were covered. Very nice and thoughtful. We'll definitely use them again.

I've used them for a number of different things and they do very good work.

From the beginning, they were incredibly responsive. There was always an open line of communication and they fit me into the schedule as soon as they could. This happened during one of those super cold January weeks, but they were able to schedule someone to come to my home withing a couple of days. My shower was no longer getting hot. Although it took a while to fix the problem, it ended up being a very easy fix. Why it took a while is because my shower was exhibiting some very weird symptoms, but in the end, all ended well. I enjoyed that they invoiced via email and that you were able to pay using a credit card if you wanted to. All in all, this was a great interaction and I will for sure be using Baker Elman Plumbing for all of my future plumbing needs.

First we need to start this review by saying Baker Elman was quick to return our call and got us set up with service right away. We had a leaking hot water heater and were planning to head out of town for the holiday so we just couldn't take any chances. The first two repairmen who came to the house were courteous and quick with replacing the heater. The problem came when we didn't have good water pressure in the shower after the work was done. They took a look at the shower and had to get some parts. Later that day someone else came to the house, replaced the shower parts but apparently these new parts were defective. He had to get more parts in before he could finish fixing the shower. Now we had a steady stream of hot water running in the tub. For the next couple of days we shut the main water valve in the house off at night so as not to waste water. We took off for vacation, came back, and after a few days got Elman back in to finish the repairs. The running faucet was fixed but the shower temp is off to this day. For the record, the shower parts are about 8 years old or so in terms of the design. The frustrating part about this service was what happened with what should have been a quick repair which turned into days of inconvenience. $330 later for the shower charge including labor and on top of it they charged a $2 fuel charge? That just seems small minded.

I have used Baker-Elman 3 different times since purchasing our new (but old - 1910s) home. The first time, for replacing a decaying water pipe in the basement, they came back with a quote almost half of other plumbers in the area. Even though that scared me a bit, they were excellent! He was efficient, professional, and cleaned up after himself! Next, my husband replaced my kitchen faucet and in turn we had to have a little work done there :) This was an "urgent" visit and they came the next day. Overall, I am super pleased with their efficiency, knowledge, speed of service, and customer service. Definitely a plumber you can trust!

I sent an email and received a phone call within an hour or so from a lady named Tina who was very knowledgeable asked me tons of questions and asked me to send pictures to her for review what I was looking for. With all of the storms with folks having frozen pipes and my request was not being of an emergency they were upfront and told me it may be a week or so, which I was fine with. Coincidentally they called a few days later saying they were in the area. Now, my house is built in 1780 and every time my wife and I sub-out work we cringe waiting to hear the comments of nothing being straight, having drafts everywhere, with everything in the house being an after thought. What has faults and is not perfect is our home and it is always emotional inviting someone in to assist us. The gentlemen showed up, seeing the pictures and knowing my needs before hand, went right to the places and took measurements. He went out to purchase some specific parts for my needs (not able to see in pictures) and within a couple of hours all of it was completed. He was very polite, courteous and I will use them in the near future for more projects and refer them to friends and family. The company from the initial contact, the call back and the service was very user friendly. Their pricing I thought was fair and think they saved me money by asking the questions on the phone and sending pictures before hand.

We're able to get some out quickly at normal rates. Worked the problem out with minimal disruption. Cleaned up after themselves.

They were very responsive and worked around our schedule with a newborn. Their crew is very polite and cordial and well spoken. will definitely call them again if needed.

Work was done quickly and well. When the appointment was initially set up, they had asked for a picture of the fittings, so they would be sure to have the right parts with them. I supplied that by email and it helped make sure that everything could be done in one visit. Good job, fair price. I'd definitely use them again.

water heater began leaking on a Sunday. I called Baker-Elman main number; there was an emergency number on the recorded message. left msg on emergency number. plumber called me back within 10 minutes. after hearing details, he thought it could wait until Monday and also suggested they see if the unit was still under warranty (it wasn't). This water heater had a non-typical venting system that made it more complicated to replace. I did call another plumber for a quote, Baker-Elman was 10% less and also suggested switching to a simpler/cheaper one-pipe venting system. The other plumber suggested that possibility too but David Elman actually came out and looked at the basement to make sure everything would fit. Heater was ordered and delivered in an hour, and plumbers came to install an hour after that. Plumbers were professional, thorough, efficient and friendly. Bill from the office arrived in my email by evening - exactly as expected.

Actually, I have to say, it was very positive and a good experience. They came to the house before and this is what I requested. The plumber that came before, they sent him out, so, that was also very positive. They were good. It has got to be a month ago. And now that you mentioned, I just realized they are going to pay that bill yet. I think it was $138. Nothing really bad, he came before summer, and was really good, he did a number of things for me. He is just very polite, straight forward, get the job done, and it is one plumber. He is very straight and honest with me, and that is it, that I can recall and remember. He is responsive. They are competitive, I think, that is what plumbers get.

Never used these folks before. Had an emergency with a broken water pipe on a Sunday morning. Found them on Angie's list and listing said emergency service 24/7. Gave them a call. Man answered and I told him our situation. He said he was working on the same thing at that moment and would call back as soon as he was done. He called back within 30 min, gave him our address and he said he was on his way coming from Weston to Brookline. He arrived in under 45 min and went right to work. Work was finished in under an hour. He also checked our hot water heater and found the pilot out and re-lit it. Also found a place in our very old basement wall where cold air was blowing in. I had some spare insulation in the basement and he plugged the hole. He was a very nice man and very efficient and professional. I am embarrassed to say I don't remember his name, everything happened so fast! Who was that masked man? We have some work that needs to be done on our heating system. Baker Ellman are the folks I'm going to call!

Arrived within the window. Very quickly checked out the leak in the basement, assessed where it was coming from. Began to look into the issue in the bathroom. Worked quickly and professionally. Once they figured out what was leaking, they informed me that they were off to get a part and explained the issue. They were back within a half hour, as promised. The fix itself was taken care of in about 45 minutes, including the time to recaulk the pedestal sink. All in all, it looks better now than it ever has. Service was excellent. Quick, well-done, informative, and very professional. Would absolutely use again!!

They have come several times for different things and have always done a good job.

While we were in the process of having our basement renovated, the carpenter found a leak in one of the laundry room utility sink pipes on a Saturday afternoon and recommended that we call a plumber immediately so that the leak did not damage the newly laid laminate. Having had such a positive prior experience with Baker Elman, I called their emergency number and was able to speak with the plumber on call right away. After hearing my description of the problem, we agreed that it would be okay to wait until Monday and that I should save the after hours fee. I called first thing Monday morning, and a plumber was at my house in a little over an hour. He was exceedingly polite and professional and fixed the leak quickly. He also remembered my house and the work that he had done two years earlier. As with our prior and subsequent experiences with this company, it was a joy to work with them and would highly recommend them.
