From start to finish, my first experience with Baker-Elman has been superb. I will definitely use them again. Susan took my call and she was very attentive and competent. She made me feel that she really cared about me as a customer and wanted me to be happy. She worked hard to make an appointment for me, even calling me back more than once to try to find a time that would work for me. The result of her tenacious efforts was that she was able to send someone to my home the very next day. Thank you so much, Susan! Mike arrived promptly and could not have been friendlier or more helpful. He addressed my leaky shower quickly and easily fixed a problem with my kitchen sink sprayer, all within an hour. Mike was able to explain the workings of my shower to me very well and in a way that helped me better understand my options - that is, whether I should replace the faucet handles or not - but without pressuring me at all to decide then and there. He also gave me an Angie's List discount without me having to ask for it. All in all, a top notch experience. I am thrilled to add Baker-Elman to my address book. They will be my go-to plumbers from now on.

Two guys showed up and they were very professional.

The initial contact with the provider was fine but overall experience was terrible. I needed a simple hot water heater repair, something that this provider specializes in. I scheduled an appointment, provided my address, and all needed details. On the day of the service, I got a call from the provider that they could not find parking due to the size of the vehicle that the service man was driving. I offered to pay for parking across the street in a parking garage, the truck was too big. I was told on the phone there was a chance that I would be charged $135 due to not having parking at my home, in the city - I live in a an apartment in South End Boston -- most providers would understand the constraints of servicing a city location. The provider representative was border-line rude in phone conversations and follow-up emails. I was told that they would reschedule with a smaller truck. I just received an email that they have refused to provide me service due to the size of their trucks! It obvious that any city dweller should NOT CONSIDER THIS PROVIDER.

Great. They were easy to schedule, showed up on time, worked quickly, were friendly, and gave us good advice. We will use them the next time we need plumbing work done.

They went above and beyond to help me identify the problem! They were fabulous, quick and efficient. They had an appointment open up and gave me a call ahead of time to let me know that they were on their way!

This was my first time working with Baker Elman, and they have got a customer for life. I was at my wits end with a busted pipe on the coldest weekend in recent history (read: lots of plumbing issues everywhere) when no one was available to help. They quite literally came to my rescue, not only helping me find the shutoff valve over the phone, but also finding an opening in their emergency services schedule. The plumber arrived and was friendly, fast, and efficient. He found the source of the issue and proceeded to remove the offending portion of the pipe and replace it swiftly. We were back up and running within an hour. Thanks, Baker Elman, I'll be around again!

I called Baker Elman at 7:30am and the dispatcher scheduled someone to come around 10:00am that morning. Frank arrived on time and very efficiently and pleasantly took care of the two issues. They were admittedly minor repairs but Baker Elman responded quickly and the field plumber was professional, polite, and efficient. My only reservation is the minimum charge of $140.00 is high for what turned out to be a 20 minute call.

Terrific service top to bottom. Starting with the office, Susan was terrific in asking all the right questions about what I needed done. She even helped me find a supplier who had a manufacturer-backordered part in stock for my kitchen faucet. I had limited flexibility in my scheduling, but they were nevertheless able to accommodate me -- even as they were dealing with winter-related heating emergencies with other customers. On the day of service, the van rolled into the driveway right on time. Kenny was our plumber and, like Susan in the office, he 100% knows his stuff! He & Billy got the various projects done very efficiently, and afterwards took me through everything that he'd done *and* gave some recommendations for things I might want to think about for the future (trim kit replacement on shower valve & tub spout, new drain assembly, etc.). High quality work, performed by knowledgeable professionals, who show up on time, and charge a very reasonable fee for their services. I'm extremely pleased as a customer, and they will absolutely be my first call for any future plumbing needs I have.

I sent pictures, but the man who came to do the job had not seen them. However, he and his helper did a good job: evaluated the situation, discussed his plans with me, got the necessary materials and performed the work in a timely fashion. I'd use them again.

The office scheduler was efficient and friendly, calling me about expected times of arrival. Mike and his assistant came on time, did the work efficiently, answered all my questions, gave some helpful advice, and were friendly and engaging. I had requested Mike as he had done some small jobs earlier in the summer (shower trim, outside faucets, sink leak). I was surprised at the reasonable price for the work. Therefore when I bought a new dryer, I again called Baker Elman. After disconnecting the dryer he again tried to find the mystery leak in one of the bathroom sinks. (This was the kind of leak that recurs but never when a plumber is there looking for it.) He patiently attacked the mystery, located it in the back of the trap, and made the necessary repair. Again when I received my bill via email, I was pleasantly surprised by the fair price. If you want a pleasant experience with a plumbing company, call Baker Elman!

I have steam heat. I had a broken radiator valve that was leaking and couldn't be shut off. In addition, we were getting classic horrible heating noises that sounded like someone was using a sledge hammer on the pipes in the wall. I was concerned that I had a blockage somewhere that was allowing water to build up in the pipes. I called and was able to schedule an appointment with in a couple of days. The plumber came on time. Inspected the valve and found a seal that was loose. He fixed that and things improved but didn't fix everything. He thought there was sludge in the return pipes and that was causing the banging. He suggested coming back and re-conditioning the heating system to try and clean out the blockage. I schedule an appointment for a few days later. Over those few days, the steam radiator was better but not fixed. The plumber came back and completely replaced the valve and then re-conditioned the heating system and flushed it several times. The result has been nothing short of a miracle. No noises as at all other than the usual steam relief valves. No banging and no problems at all. Very happy with the end result and I didn't have to do a major overhaul.

The heater had been leaking for some time (unbeknownst to us). Elizabeth at the office called first thing Monday morning, found a replacement heater, got Kenny scheduled for that afternoon, he arrived in the time window and quickly and neatly finished the job. Even with a difference in heater height, whereby Kenny had to go get some extra pipe, it still did not seem to take very long. And, he took the time to train me on the Flowmaster liquid detector, which would have helped identify the problem earlier, if we had it in the first place. We are very satisfied with the service we received.

I have used Baker Elman plumbing 3 times during the past year to replace leaky faucets and shutoff valves. They are always very professional and tackle the problem efficiently, and I have been very happy with the work. I will absolutely call them back for future plumbing needs.

I noted that a radiator in my new condo was leaking. The woman below just had a leak of biblical proportions and we had to shut down the hot water for 2 days as it was an emergency. I wanted to avoid that scene. I called my HVAC company who said that kind of job is done by a plumber. I called one plumber who said the job was too big. I called another who did not call be back. I called a third plumber who gave me an estimate but could not provide a radiator. I called Baker-Elman who answered and set up Dave Elman to come and estimate the job. By this time I found a radiator that was tested, painted and pipes ready for installing. Dave Elman is a fan of cast iron decorative radiators. He sent out 2 men and a back up man. This was a big job. The weight of the radiator coming in and the one going out made it hard. The team drained all the hot water out of a 6 apt building. installed the radiator, refilled the building and bled every radiator in every apartment. I had to get permission and access to every apartment. This job took a village. 8:30-1:30.

They're great. They're really good.

I just talked to them and paid a bill. They were really good and excellent. Their price was excellent. The thing they did was help me get the rebates so I got a much more efficient furnace for the exact same price as a much less efficient because they help me get the rebates. They are very service oriented, very pleasant and they cleaned up very well. There was a minor problem and they came back and fixed it right away. I think they are terrific. I pay when they come out to check it. They fix anything and I have not had any trouble with the furnace at all. I would recommend them to anybody else and I use them any time I need. One of the times they came they fixed my faucet for what the new stuff cost; they just threw that in.

I know piping is expensive, but I think this was a little high. They showed up on several occasions not prepared for the job. I have a three family house, they were running a gas line to the third floor and they don't bring the right ladder. It was just little stuff and I am being a little picky. I would use them again. The quality of the work was fine. The owner would come out but then they would send apprentices who were kind of clueless. They were pretty responsive and punctual. They were professional, I guess. I would shop around in the future for a better price.

The first time he came out, he was great and he charged a fair price. The second time, he came out and he was here for two minutes for the same thing, within less than 30 days and he charged me the full price. I have been working with contractors for many years but once they get on Angie's List, they think they can charge anything for any amount of time. They send out a person to do a job and they do a good job but there is no warranty on the job. When the same thing happens again, they charge you. They are polite but a person comes for less than 5 minutes for an adjustment on your toilet but charges you full price for something that he did before.

There were great, i called them in the morning to schedule a non-rush job. They had someone in the neighborhood so they were able to send the plumber to my house that afternoon. He was very professional and worked quickly

Everything was great. The dispatchers were able to send over a team the same day that we called to request an appointment. They called back with a 45 minute warning before they arrived. The two gentleman, Andrew and John we think, solved our problem swiftly and with good humor. I am very content.

The company dispatcher called me 30 minutes ahead of time, which was nice. The plumber was on time. He was competent and inspected the previous repair closely before declaring it as well done. He was able to communicate the reasons why well. The company had asked me to forward pictures of the sink faucet earlier and it was worth it - the plumber had the exact part needed to fix the leaky handle. He was able to easily disassemble the handle and install the part, explaining to me how the job was done while doing it. Both jobs were done efficiently and well.

They were able to fit our repair in when there was a cancelation, providing same day service. The master plumber was effective, efficient, and able to diagnose and repair the issue in less than one hour. Perfect service!

Quick response, great service, great value. Also the leak was over Labor Day weekend so their help was appreciated.

Very complicated install due to left sided venting gas dryer and width of opening. Excellent customer service from beginning to end. Spoke multiple times to staff over the phone and they helped with various complications throughout the install process. Not an easy situation and they were professional and efficient throughout the whole process. Thank you!

Next day service. Fast, courteous, excellent work. The owner went to great lengths to examine and speak to us about our specific installation.
