Baker Elman Plumbing

I sent Baker Elman an email describing the problem, and got an email back suggesting a fix--which worked. (A magical red button on the bottom of the disposal.) This is now the SECOND time that Baker Elman has told me how to fix something and thereby declined the opportunity to charge me money. I'm not sure how they stay in business, but--WOW--how helpful can they be? (For the record, the times that they have come here to fix something, they have also been excellent.)

They arrived on time as promised The guy was very professional. The work was well done. The lady in the office always answered my questions. Very friendly I will highly recommend this provider. Very happy with their service

Everything went great. They showed up exactly on time and did a great job. The drained the old water heater, removed it, installed the new water heater, and installed the automatic shutoff valve in about 2 hrs. They also clean up after themselves so there was nothing for us to do or clean after they left.

They did an excellent job completing the work. Susan was very professional and pro active with schedule recommendations to insure I did not have too much down time with no water in the kitchen and bathroom. Thank you Baker Elman Plumbing.

I'm basing this off of just one visit, and a simple job at that, but I'm really impressed so far. I had another plumber out here to do a simple kitchen faucet install, and after quoting me $400 and then saying he couldn't fit under my sink, he left. I called Baker-Elman and they were really pleasant on the phone, setting me up with an appointment a few days later. The plumber showed up on time, was very nice, and did a great job. The whole thing took just over an hour and cost me around $160 with the Angie's List discount. I will continue to call Baker-Elman for any future plumbing issues. These guys are great.

The provider, Frank, was very friendly & professional. He took a look at the job that had been done, & concluded that besides the ventilation ducting, everything was all set. But he recommended we have him change a vacuum fitting on the top as a best practice & preventative measure, which we agreed to. He also of course attached & fixed the ventilation ducting, and then fired up the water heater. It was all done in like an hour or so. In addition, Frank patiently & informatively answered my other plumbing-related questions related to other parts of the house. Completely satisfied & will be calling Baker-Elman Plumbing back for each of the items on my "Plumbing To Do List".

Professional though they were scheduled to arrive between 9am - 1pm, and arrived a little after 1pm. I called them at 11am to try and get a better timing and was told my condo was next. Due to the late start, they couldn't fix the second issue in my master bath where the faucet would turn off when the hot water was on - was told it was a simple fix but we needed to have all the water turned off in the building and it was late.

Unfortunately our water heater blew the night before, leaving us with a little flooding in the basement. We knew this would mean a new water heater, so I began making calls for quotes in the AM. We have used Baker ELman before and LOVED them, but for this big of a purchase I wanted to look around. In the end, we went with Baker Elman - price was right in the middle of the quotes, but they could come immediately and I was also thrilled with my past experiences. Kenny came and was done a few hours later. He was clean, courteous, efficient, and very knowledgeable. He made sure to chat with me about the warranty, etc., before leaving.

Baker Elman did a great job with my oil to heat conversion last Fall. When my hot water stopped working the other day I called them. They sent guys over same day, even earlier than expected. I was impressed at how quickly they came. The two gentlemen who came were friendly and knowledgeable. They explained everything to me in a way I could easily understand. Luckily it was a reasonably easy fix. They quickly went to get the part and and also worked quickly to restore my hot water. They were awesome! I HIGHLY recommend Baker Elman.

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate on a bathtub replacement. A person from Baker Elman came, but not the contractor they had told me would accompany him. I was only interested in an estimate for a bathtub ? apparently my tub is an unusual size, so I asked for estimates on installing a more typical size tub as well as a standard one. The person from Baker Elman made unnecessary comments about my bathroom walls, sink and toilet, saying did I want to get rid of them, the fixtures looked old, etc. I had in no way asked for anything other than a tub estimate. It was clear that it might be a somewhat involved job given the size of the tub, the flooring near it, but I wanted to get a new tub. They have no idea what my budget might be for the bathtub I would like to have...I waited two weeks to hear back from them, then called because no estimate had come. The person on the phone said it was unusual, that they usually turn estimates around right away. She said she would find out. I waited another week, still heard nothing. I could only conclude that they didn't want to do the work, so I called again. This time I did mention that the man who had come to my house had made completely unnecessary and basically rude remarks about parts of my bathroom that I had in no way asked him to renovate, comment on, etc. I feel that it would have been much more appropriate and professional to just say they didn't want to do the job, or whatever it was. I showed up for the appointment ? they didn't bring the contractor. They never got back to me. They wasted my time and were rude. I never heard back from them, even after meeting them and calling twice to follow up.

Wow. This is a good company! I am so tired of grouchy plumbers who don't come when you call. I don't care if this company is more expensive?and I don't think they are!!! They are prompt, they do the job and I will use them again in a heartbeat! DB came to my house and he was great.

I thought their price was very good but we had a ledge we didn?t realize so when they were drilling they hit solid rock. So we had to have someone come in and drill with a bigger drill. They were able to make it work. It didn't go down as far as they had hoped but it works. They cleaned up but they didn?t put our things back that they moved.

The person who answered our initial call was knowledgeable and asked a few preliminary questions to be sure we actually needed someone to come out, which I appreciated. Service was very prompt and professional. Totally pleasant experience all around.

Arrived on time for an emergency visit on weekend. Was very fair upfront with the pricing policy. Work done quickly and professionally. Great experience, recommended!

The plumber was right on time. Removed the old garbage disposal and hooked up the new one. Charged about $100 less than they'd estimated.

Incredibly helpful and thorough. Very prompt in scheduling to replace a broken water heater. Gave me helpful options for replacement heaters and squeezed the heater into its very snug spot in a utility closet. Very patient when I had follow-up questions.

The work was done in 2 visits, once to fix my toilet tank assembly and once to replace a bathroom sink faucet. The man was on time both times and did all the work as requested/correctly. I would use Baker Ellman again.

I reached out to Baker Elman after finding them on Angie's List. We had a leak in our guest bathroon faucet and it was getting worse by the day. During the first week, a plumber inspected the leak and recommended that we replace the knob. I also decided to replace the shower head and the spout while we were replacing the knob. There were no surprises and the job was very professionally done. The best part I like about them is that there is someone to always answer your call. I do not have to call and talk to an answering machine and wonder if I will get a call back. I was able to pay by credit card, which is another convenience. I would rate them A for a complete professional experience and would go to them should I have a need again. Thank you, Baker Elman Plumbing!

Faucet eight years old and had slow drip. Replaced in approx. 45 minutes. Old cartridge had rust and mineral deposits.

I know that companies run into problems with scheduling, but since this was my first time using them, it's all I have to go on. I phoned them on Monday and they made an appointment for Wednesday, since Tuesday was booked up. I was given a window between 10am - 2pm. At 12:15pm I received a call from their office that the plumber was running behind, but that he should be done in an hour. At about 2:15 I phoned them, since I had heard nothing, and asked if I could run to the store and they said yes. The plumber showed up around 3:15, did the work and left. The office staff was very nice and professional, but I do have a problem when businesses that give you a 4-hour window and can't make that. I don't like wasting my time. I'm sure they did good work, but I will try and find a plumbing company that is a bit better at making the scheduled time.

I called Baker Elman Plumbing for an estimate and spoke with David about the project. After the call I emailed him pictures of the existing water heater and boiler set up. He arranged to have Steve out the next day to measure the radiators and do heat loss calculations. Of the three firms I called, Baker Elman were the only ones to check that boiler was properly sized before putting together the price. Once confirmed, they sent over the estimate and we scheduled the work. The work crew was punctual for the appointment and started working right away. The team was very professional. They kept the work area neat, cleaned up after themselves and had the heat back on the by the end of the day. The team came back a second to install the radiator which also went well. All in all the work went smoothly and we have plenty of hot water and a tank with a great warranty. I have already recommended them to a friend in Newton and would definitely call Baker Elman back for future work. /Review/102049
