Description of Work: The last thing I did with them was to replace our 1960's a water heater with a new efficient one. Before that they did replace the toilets and sinks in 3 bathrooms, installed new plumbing and shower head in the main bathroom, replace the faucet in my kitchen and update the outdoor faucets. All these they have done since Oct 2012.

Description of Work: Had a few scheduling snafus, but nothing major, and everything was resolved extremely fast and well.

Description of Work: These guys are wonderful. I'll call them for all future plumbing needs. So I called them today with a tough situation. We're getting our house refinanced, expecting an appraiser in 2 days, and this morning the ceiling below a bathroom was dripping water. We tore off the ceiling drywall and discovered that the leak was coming from a toilet. I called Baker Elman and Mike and John were here in about an hour. They confirmed the source of the leak, resealed the toilet, and were done in about 45 minutes. After they fixed the leak, they tested the fix to make sure that the problem was fixed. They were very thorough. I'd write more to continue raving about these folks but I need to fix the ceiling.

Description of Work: I did receive service from Baker Elman on 3/28/13; they replaced bathtub drain, quickly diagnosed and repaired. I spent $200 after my Angie's discount. They were terrific- came after a couple of days, very professional and courteous, all done (kept the space clean too) in an hour. Ratings are A+ in every category. I'd definitely use them again. As my first Angie's experience. I'm thrilled.

Description of Work: In Response to the company, you just do not get it. I am not saying that calling in advance is a bad idea, I am complaining that NOBODY TOLD ME TO EXPECT A CALL. Also, no followup, one call and then you abandoned your scheduled commitment. ======================================================================== So I called them and set up an appointment for today, Friday between 1 and 2. I reworked my schedule to work from home today which is a major inconvenience. 2PM rolls around and nobody shows up. I check my phone and see a VM left at 12:52 (was on a conference call and did not notice it). Checked and it was them, they called, I did not answer so they never followed up or showed up. Asked if they could come back out today and the person on the phone said no. Here is my issue: 1) Nodody told me they would call first, I was expecting a ring at the door, never got one. 2) 1 call no follow up no attempt to resolve the issue sort of me taking another day at home 3) Person handling the call talked about "it's our policy, blah blah blah" (yes one of those, my fault because I don't know their internal policy). If I had known to expect a call I would have looked for it.

Description of Work: The plumber (David) cleared a drain by opening a trap and snaking it clear. Not as easy or routine as it sounds. Over a period of a few years we have had at least 5 plumbers try to clear that same bathtub and sink trap in our upstairs bathroom. They have all said they could not open the trap because it would break, was unopenable for some other reason (like it was made of lead), we would have to install new pipe around it. So the plumber David from Baker Elman is a hero to us. We will call them again.

Description of Work: We emailed for an estimate for replacing our garbage disposal. We heard back very quickly from Sheryl, who answered our questions and told us that the replacement we had chosen was not recommended because the quality was poor. A search online showed the unit was indeed poorly rated. I mentioned a higher-rated model to Sheryl. She said that one was much better. When I mention that we were on a budget. She offered me the option of buying it online or at HD for a lower price, which I did. A few hours before the scheduled time they called and asked if they could come earlier, which was fine. The plumber came, was quick and courteous and charged me $60 less than the estimate we were given via email! This made me happy. I then asked the plumber if he worked with contractors for remodeling. He said they work with Jeff Veglia, and recommended I look him up on Angie's List. So I joined Angie's List and saw Jeff's delightful reviews, and decided to write one for Baker Elman.

Description of Work: Baker Elman arrived--on time!--and quickly and efficiently installed our new sink faucet, and in a very professional manner. Equally important, though, I recently (as in 10 months later) experienced a sharp drop in water pressure in that faucet. I call them for a service call, but instead, the plumber got on the telephone and walked me through incredibly easy troubleshooting steps (detaching the removable head from the hose to clean out debris) that solved the problem in 5 minutes, and saved me the $$ of another service call. Both the woman who answered the telephone and the plumber were friendly, professional and unbelievably helpful. I can't recommend Baker Elman strongly enough!

Description of Work: My water heater was leaking, I left a message on a sunday night, they were here the next morning! David knows his business very well, and asked the questions that led us to a replacement under warranty, something I wouldn't have known about since we bought the house just a year ago. They had my new unit in by noon. Unbelievable service! I have had David back to quote a different job, and it turns out his company doesn't do it, but he spent twenty minutes telling me who to talk to, what to expect and what to watch out for. Great service.

Description of Work: We hired Baker Elman to replace our kitchen faucet. It was a simple job, remove old and put in new. Baker Elman was very easy to deal with on the phone, they were courteous and professional. They scheduled our work expediently as the kitchen sink was unoperational. The technician showed up on time and completed the work in short order in a professional manner. I would not hesitate to use them again. But would consider other providers based on the below. BEWARE OF THE COUPON The price was quoted at 135, but with Angies List coupon 116. When it was time to pay, the bill was 135 with the coupon and there were mysterious "supplies" that were used in installing the brand new out of the box faucet that got us back to 135. When i asked what those were nobody could tell me and the bill didn't detail it. Felt like a way to nuetralize the Angies list coupon. I may be overreacting but it's a good strategy for them to avoid giving the discount.

Description of Work: Just needed to have a kitchen faucet replaced. Easy to schedule appointment. Phone confirmation to let me know plumber was on his way day of appointment. High quality work. Pricey, but worth it. You get what you pay for. I've been using Baker-Elman for years.

Description of Work: Called company for estimate yesterday but had a misunderstanding. Called again today and they were great in helping to set up an appointment to get quote for work. David ( I think that's his name) was very professional and patient in setting up an appointment with me even though there was a misunderstanding yesterday. I really appreciate him sending someone to give me a quote for work to be done. 3/11/11 Company sent out rep to give quote for work. Their quote was higher quotes that I received from other plumbers. Did not get good vibe from person they sent out. So, I will not be going with them. Should of went with my first instinct.

Description of Work: I called several times for someone to come to the house for an estimarte on replacing my heating system. I finally received a return phone call after many attempts. At 10 minutes prior to the appointment, the scheduler called to say that the person needed to reschedule; we agreed on the next day. The next day at the appointed time, a no show. After about 45 minutes, I called and was told he would be hours late (I had taken off some time from work, but had not expected to take off the entire day!). After a discussion about my inability to take many more hours off from work, the person came, told me he would get me an estimate soon, but the estimate never came.
