Description of Work: The Thayer Nursery owners were great. They answered all my questions, they were responsive to my e-mails, they addressed our front yard issues, and came up with a design and plan that fit our budget and style. When an error was made, they fixed as if it were the norm.

Description of Work: This was pretty much a nightmare from the beginning. Josh came out and then it took forever to get his bid. Then after agreeing on a price he disappeared. When I reached him he said he would be there the next Week. When I called the office the next week he and his crew were on vacation. He finally showed up and the work was well done. Three of the plants were diseased. We called him out (June, 2015)and he said he would replace them and do some pruning he promised my wife. We asked for a bid on some additional work for him to do when he came out to fix the things from last year. After two months we received his estimate and much of the work he proposed sounded like the work he did last year. His office asked for a copy of last years proposal. Long story shortened he never responded and never replaced the diseased plants (it is Nov. 24 2015). I'd never use him again, ever.

Description of Work: I went to Thayer Nursery to get firewood for my home. They have a beautiful facility, had plenty of wood in stock, and loaded my car for me. I'd say the price was a bit higher than other wood sellers but not by enough to make me go out of my way to find another seller.

Description of Work: Thayer is a a full service nursery and garden center with beautiful grounds and very nice staff. They have lovely hardy plants and trees and a fairly good selection of items. They also do a half off sale on the 4th of July weekend on almost all plants if you can wait a bit to buy some items!

Description of Work: We requested a proposal for landscaping services for a brand new house. We were willing to spend $10,000 - $15,000. The person who came out to look at the job had some great ideas, but never submitted a price/proposal. I called several times and to little to no avail. They must be too busy to worry about our $10-$15k landscaping job.

They delivered as promised, on the exact date, and were careful with the delivery. I did not have them stack it for me because I didn't want to pay any extra money. I will definitely give them a call again next year.

 + -1 moreThis is very good firewood - it's bone dry, it lights with a single match, and burns much better than the wood we used to pick up at the stop & shop. The main reason I picked them (despite the reason they are more expensive) is that the wood is insect free because it is kiln dried which allows me to store the wood in my garage without worrying about starting a termite infestation. It rained the day of the scheduled delivery and they called to offer me the option of rescheduling for the next day (which I did). They showed up on time for the delivery, and dumped the wood where I wanted it (others have commented that you can pay extra to have it stacked - I didn't).
Description of Work: One cord of kiln dried fire wood, including delivery, but not including stacking.

 + -1 moreOverall, an exceptional experience. Pricey, but of highest quality. Clean, dense, kiln-dried hardwood. Great stuff - my supplier of first resort from now on. Everyone was polite and professional. They called and asked whether they could deliver several days earlier than planned, and showed up exactly as promised. PJ stacked the wood for a reasonable additional charge, and left the place spick and span. Very pleased all around.

DELIVERY MEANS LITERALLY BACKING UP A TRUCK, AND DUMPING THE CONTENTS. AFTER PURCHASING A $40 TARP TO PROTECT THE WOOD, WE WERE TOLD THAT EXTRA TARPS ARE USUALLY KEPT IN THE TRUCK (NONE WAS OFFERED AT TIME OF DELIVERY). REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO WORK OUT A WAY TO GET THE WOOD STACKED WERE ANSWERED WITH A PRICE QUOTE. STACKING COSTS RANGED FROM $60 TO $100, AND THE 'STACKER' WASN'T AVAILABLE UNTIL A WEEK AFTER DELIVERY. NOT REALLY A GREAT EXPERIENCE. WOULD RATHER DEAL WITH A MORE SERVICE CONSCIOUS FIRM THAT OFFERS DELIVERY, AND STACKING AT A REASONABLE PRICE.
