I was not pleased with the services provided by this company.  After signing up for a one year contract, they were supposed to come out to my home every quarter to spray for insects/bugs.  The first few treatments, beginning in July 2013, made sense to me since it was the height of summer and bugs are very active.  They contacted me over the weekend to perform a service in a few days on February 20th.  For the life of me I don't understand why they would suggest that spraying for bugs/insects in the dead of winter with 1 foot of snow around the base of my house makes any sense!!!  Their explanation that this creates a barrier for the spring is completely laughable since the treatment would completely wash off in the weather and be useless by then.  How can you tell that to a customer with a straight face!!
Buyer beware!!  I think this company is just in business to sign up customers for the one year contract and obtain your $500 payment ($125/quarter).   I terminated my contract with them and would NEVER use them again.
Response from Insight Pest Solutions
"We are grateful for your feedback and we are saddened that we failed to communicate better the value and purpose for service during the winter months. This is a very misunderstood part of our business. There are great misconceptions regarding pests as whole but in particular the threats during the colder months of the year. Each season presents different challenges and therefore the products and service techniques change during each season as well. Performing the exact same application during the winter as the summer is ineffective. Having said this, that is not what is done. Insight prides themselves on innovation, high quality products, and effective service. There are several pests that overwinter during colder months and do not pose a threat during that time of the year. Many of these are flying insects such as wasps and hornets. There are a host of other insects that indeed survive during even harsh winters. We receive calls regarding ants and spiders during winter months. Aside from insects, rodents pose a huge threat and are very problematic to homeowners during winter months as they seek warmer and more secure environments. Insight focuses much of their service during winter months to exclusion techniques and specialize crack and crevice dusting to entry points to prevent unwanted activity during the winter but also to prepare for spring activity which is difficult to predict. The dust applications are unaffected by cold temperatures and due to the applications sites are not affected by the snow either. These treatments are highly beneficial and are a critical part of our service to ensure the protection of the homes and families that count on us to prevent unwanted threats. We are very sorry for not communicating better the purpose and value of service during the winter and hope that you will reconsider our service in the future."

I bought a house with a partially finished basement. Renovated and put in two bedrooms, game room, and workout room. Room is half underground. Loaded with spiders…living around outlets and in corners. Forget how I found Insight, but once they started coming, the spiders started going away. We are at a maintenance level now and I can’t be happier at the lack of critters in the basement. I also get a few tiny black ants in the spring. Insight treats for those….and they go. They have also set up mouse traps in my garage. They are always on the lookout for anything that could harm a home, termites, for instance. I haven’t yet added on the termite detection treatment, but will soon.

They are reasonably priced, responsive, honest, thorough, friendly. They leave notes so detailed that I have had to call the company and ask for help reading all they have to tell me. I am almost always at work and trust them to come in and work in my home alone. I couldn’t endorse them more. I will add that I don’t wax eloquent very easily and I hire a lot of contractors, as I am a single mom trying to manage a house and yard. I wish everyone I hired was as good as Insight,

They sprayed around our home. They called a few days before hand to make sure they could come out and do the work. Once the work was done, they left a note in plastic bag to let us know they were here. We have been pleased with their work so far. They also assisted with catching a mouse and gave opinions on how to prevent any future mice issues. They also gave helpful information over the phone on how to handle cicada killers.

I did not like them that much. They did not do much to solve the issue. They came when I wanted them not to come. They came when I was not home, which I wanted to be there. They did not do a great job with the overall treatment around the house. They just sprayed repellent where they saw a bug. I would not use them again. They are expensive and force you into a contract you cannot get out of.

They called to let me know they are coming a couple of days before hand, spray and bill me. They have an auto deduction method for payments. I have noticed a difference in the amount of pests. I am pretty satisfied with the job they do. They leave a detailed note about their work they did once they are done.

Everything has been great. They just do outside work for me. They have a service option where they come out at certain points during the year and they also have an auto bill feature, which is convenient. I have had no issues with their work.

We have no complaints with their work. They have been very good for us and very receptive. They only schedule if we need them in the house. They let us know when they come by leaving a note.

Homeowners beware. The salesman came over door to door asking for any pest issues. He came over to my house last year and explained the process of pest application but did not mention about the contract (my bad too for not asking about it). But on the day of the first application I was shown the contract papers and the fine print was if you cancel the 4 application process ($125 each) then you have to pay the penalty fees of around $325. Since i already had the ants crawling at my house, I wanted to go ahead with the service. Also I checked angies list again to see any potential problems, but there were no bad reviews.
I did ask the pest control person if the pest control solution was natural pyrethrin - but he indicated that it was a synthetic version.
The first service was in July. The second service was in October. The third service was in December ( I am not sure why they need to spray my house when there is snow on the ground). But I was under the impression that the solution that they have must be an extra ordinary solution, so I didn't complain much. The last service was in March after which I called them immediately to cancel the service as I did not want to keep paying $125 every 3 months without seeing the effects this year.
Almost after 3 months(also warmer temps) into the final service which was in march, I started seeing the ants again in my house. I did not see just one ant but many ants. I called the company and told them the issue. They said that since I cancelled my service they cannot do anything. The said they will charge me another $125 for the service to spray again. They also told me that the solution is effective only for 3 months? . i just cannot believe I spent a total of $500 just to experience ants again. The store bought solutions are lot more effective and they last for anywhere between 3 months to a 12 months. They cost only $10 for a gallon of the solution. I have applied this Ortho Max solution all around my house and i have never seen another ant in my house again.

In a nutshell - the experience was bad with this company. I wont use them again. But I am looking out for a better pest control company now.
Save your money and efforts. Their 4 seasons applications do not work. Even if they did, they wont last more than 3 months and you will be billed again. As far as possible never give them your credit card info. Better to pay through a check so that you wont be billed for a service that you dont want.

I responded to a door-to-door solicitation from Insight for pest (bug) control.  I usually don't accept door-to-door solicitations, but having killed about my 10th ant in a couple of days I was primed.  The sales guy, Heath, was thorough, knowledgeable and cordial.  He was patient as I read the contract multiple times and asked questions to detect any loopholes/scam.  I was on the fence but signed, knowing I had three days to back out if the online research I promised to do didn't meet with my satisfaction.  My online research was only slightly reassuring-- an Angie's List from April 2012, which seemed insufficient for a company that's been in business for 30 years, but maybe they are new to Boston area as they had references in North Carolina, Ohio, other states.  Several negative Better Business Bureau reports of the unsatisfied customer type.  Still, I was willing to take the chance for the money I was to spend (4 treatments in a year at $125 each).  I called to reschedule the appointment to later the same day, and the operator "didn't handle new accounts" so she had to have someone call me back, which they did.  I wanted to go over what exactly was going to be done (again, Heath had explained but I wanted to confirm) but she said that she didn't handle that, district manager would have to call me back as he was on the road (he never did).  The technician, Michael, called the day of the appointment to say he was running early and was there any way I could meet him at the house earlier.  This wasn't great as I had specifically moved the time back because of an appointment, but I left when the appointment was done and had given him the okay to begin work on the outside of the house.  When I arrived Michael had completed the external work and was ready to move inside. He couldn't have been nicer, more polite, thorough and seemingly knowledgeable (I say seemingly only because I have no expertise in this area and no way to judge).  He explained in detail what he had done outside, talked about the pesticides he was using.  When he was done he wrote everything on the invoice including the types and amounts of pesticides used.  I haven't seen a carpenter ant since, even though Michael explained that I might see increased activity within the first two weeks.  Insight is due to come every three months for a twelve month period.  My "B's" for price, quality and responsiveness are because I didn't really have anything to compare them to (price and quality), and regarding responsiveness I would have preferred to have all my questions answered on one call, plus the branch manager never called me back.

We have used them for one year. They are great so far. I know some people are interested in using eco friendly providers. They use a natural substance to spray for insects. I do know they handles rodents, but I have just used them for bugs.
