Terrible. Just terrible. Whenever we had a conversation about what was included in our purchase or not, he was ALWAYS switching up his statement. Lou is full of empty promises and we had a poor experience with him. He recommended his brother, Chris Mellilo, to be our contractor. Upfront he seeemed like a good guy but it was our mistake. It took this guy over 6 months to complete 1/2 of our kitchen. BEWARE of Northeast kitchen and his rude and flakey brother who ruined our lives for over 6 months. Find another place to get your cabinets and do not listen to these guys. Terrible, just terrible.

My fiancé and I were referred to Northeast Kitchens and Stonework after meeting with many contractors. We were on a very tight budget to remodel the kitchen in our 120 year old home. We had looked into cabinet re-facing and found the prices to be astronomical for the services offered. Next we explored Ikea cabinets and met with many carpenters and contractors to help with floors, electrical and plumbing but quickly realized we were getting in over our head. When we met Lou Melillo, he assured us he could do everything within our budget. We had to go to the studs and were so happy we didn't attempt to do the job on our own. Being an older house the walls were not plumb creating a challenge with regard to hanging cabinets but Lou?s crew did an awesome job working around the imperfections. They also installed a commercial grade hood that vents to the outside. It was a huge job and Lou and his wife Lucy did a wonderful job lining up each contractor and helping us put together the kitchen we never thought we could afford. We now have a beautiful new entryway, bathroom floor, and countertops as well. For the countertops, Gabriel referred us to a stone supplier that had gorgeous slabs and stone tile flooring and headed up the installation process himself. The installation of the slab was so fast and the work was flawless. With the amazing Schrock cabinets Lou recommended (at an amazing price), our kitchen looks like a million dollars. We are so grateful for their help and exceeding our needs and expectations. We can?t say enough good things about the quality of work they do and their consideration to what our needs and tastes were. In fact we plan to ask for their help again in the future when we tackle our bathroom. Anyone that saw our old kitchen is completely floored by the look of our new space.

The job went well. A little behind schedule but not their fault.
Description of Work: I remodelled an old house. So I had the kitchen countertops and cabinets done by Northeast Kitchen. Lou was very knowledgeable and professional. He took care of everything so I didn't worry about a thing. He always had my best interest regarding the price or style.

We met with the owner, Lou Melillo, at his showroom. He quoted a very low price for a kitchen remodel. We were hooked! Upon finalizing the deal, the price went up but we went along because he seemed sincere and skilled. My spouse and I spent one weekend emptying cabinets and a china closet in prepartion for Monday's demolition. We stocked up on paper plates and made sure our backyard grill had propane for this temporary period. Monday came...no demolition crew, no phone call. We called Lou and he said they had to go to another job. We were not too happy. The crew came the next day. This happened often during this remodel. After demolition, Lou told us that the ceiling was uneven and we needed to repair this in order for the cabinets to sit properly. Of course, this was an added expense. We went along because we trusted Lou. The cabinets we later installed and the ceiling was found to be uneven! Also during the demolition, we noticed that we had no hot water for a shower. It was 9 pm. We called our plumber and he said it was not a plumbing problem. It was an electrical problem. A wire had been cut during the demolition! The electrician came at 11 pm and we had him in our home til midnight! A major inconvenience! The granite we chose had a greenish area which we did not want used. Lou said to get two slabs of the granite. That would ensure that the green spot would not be used on the counter or the island. We went to the granite fabricator to check on the granite and it was NOT there! The granite company said that Lou never ordered the pick-up. We went the next day and only one slab was there. We called Lou and he said that it was an extra large piece so only one slab was needed. So, we had to return to the granite company and choose a second slab to replace our first choice. A major inconvenience and a contradiction to what Lou originally stated. We also ordered a wooden valance to go over the sink. Lou told us in original meeting that people used these now. We thought it would look good. When the carpenter was at the house, he told us that the piece was not there despite the fact that we paid for it! After contacting Lou, he said, " People don't really use those anymore." Another contradiction! No money returned to us. When the preparation for demo was ongoing, the workers used plastic to shut off the family room area. They used a blue tape to secure the plastic to my painted walls. When the project was done and the plastic removed, the yellow paint on the wall came off! We couldn't remember the name of the paint so Lou told me to go and find a match. It was HIS error, why do we have to go out and do MORE work? After the project was finally done, a shelf in the pantry came loose. A tiny screw was holding in a shelf. We called Lou since he told us at the original meeting that he would stand by his work. He told us to take it to the hardware store and find another one like it. A major issue with the appearance of the cabinets happened after only 3 months. (Sept 2011) The cabinets go to the ceiling with crown moulding. The crown moulding started separating from the ceiling leaving an unattractive crack in the ceiling. (see photos) We called Lou on his cell and no answer. We emailed his wife, Lucy, who mans the office. I sent photos of this to her email as well. No answer to this date! We hired another contractor and painter to fix this at our expense...another $500 out of our pocket! And a kitchen that was sub-standard until the work could be completed. This remodeling project produced such chaos for my husband and me. My husband became agitated with each problem as did I. He and Lou often " had words". When you hear about issues with contractors, you don't think it will happen to you. We paid for an Angie's List membership to specifically post this review and to hopefully save other consumers from this horrendous company!!
Description of Work: Our current kitchen was gutted. A new kitchen, with a half wall removed, new plaster walls and ceiling, new cabinets, granite, and hardwood floors, was created.
