He was punctual, had the part and did a good job.

I just moved into an older house and upon first use of six -year old Kitchen Aid dishwasher it leaked all over the floor.. I called Sherman's based on Angie's List rating and got someone on the phone right away. They offered to come the next day (Friday), but I was unavailable so they were able to schedule on Monday. Jimmy Carrozza was my technician and he was a really nice guy--(a good sign my dog liked him).. He promptly discovered that human error caused over-sudsing and the drip tray could not handle it. Jimmy did not shame me--I am sure he has seen worse dishwasher abuse (tho, as a matter of pride, I must say I wasn't the one who put the troublesome item in the dishwasher). He gave me a lot of tips about dishwasher care. I was very, very pleased with the service and the cost was more than reasonable. Also, Jimmy, as a courtesy kindly pulled out a wrench and loosend a filtration cartridge that was stuck in my refrigerator and seemed immovable. Now I can replace it! Thanks, Jimmy! I would not hesitate to recommend this company. I also like that this is a local company as I try to support same.

Left an email on Easter Sunday. Received a response within the hour! Jimmy arrived on time the following Wednesday and was extremely knowledgeable and went above and beyond the call of duty to find a new panel for our dishwasher. What at first looked like a two time visit turned into only one day to get the job done. Excellent customer service. Without a doubt I will have them back in the future.

Marc Sherman rescued me from another appliance repairman (Convenient Appliance in Waltham) who disappeared never to return after charging $69 to analyze the problem I had with the stove top. Sherman and an assistant did a very thorough job in taking apart the stove top and installing a new part (that I had purchased at the request of the first repairman). Although the job was a bit more expensive than I had anticipated, I think it was worth it. It certainly saved me from having to buy a new stove top. Adding the lost $69 from the first repairman didn't help the situation.

This is the sixth time I have received service from this provider both in my home and rental property. I have been more than satisfied with all aspects of their work. The best part is being able to schedule service quickly. I would never think of using another appliance repair company!

Marc was not only friendly and efficient, he was super responsive and came over twice to fix appliances on the same day I called him. Would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

Marc was out on the second business day after we spoke to check out the refrigerator, which seemed reasonable. He returned to replace a fan, which had been disabled by dirt and grease from our prior tenants. He suspected another problem as well, the thermostat, but was hoping we wouldn't need that as it was a bit more expensive. When the temperature issues continued, Marc and/or Jim returned to check it out and we ultimately did replace the thermostat. The cost for the visits and the equipment seemed reasonable - certainly better than replacing the refrigerator. Marc can sound a little gruff on the phone, but, in my interactions, that didn't translate into any communication or customer service problems. I'm quite happy with their service.

Marc and the repair technician Jim were fine (Jim was really pleasant and interacted great with my 4 year old daughter); however, during a recent call a few days after the repair was completed, Marc became extremely angry and began swearing at me repeatedly. Before having Marc over for an estimate, I wanted to be sure that we wouldn't be charged $88 for the service charge if we had the work performed. During our back and forth, roundabout conversation, it seemed that if we did go ahead with repairs, then the $88 that we paid on Thursday would be deducted from the overall cost for the repair that was done on Friday. Nope. We paid $88 on Thursday and then an additional $350 on Friday. I understand needing to charge in case someone doesn't use their service or if there is extensive time/work spent during the initial visit; however, Marc is based in Melrose so his drive time, as he put it, couldn't have been more than 15 minutes and his diagnostic work consisted of me physically showing him the problem (5 seconds) and then he spent an additional 5-10 minutes on the phone calling in the part. I appreciated that he came the same day to look at our washing machine and that Jim came the following day to replace the broken gasket; however, I didn't anticipate the $88 charge for only 15 minutes of his time spent at our house and it certainly wasn't worth the yelling and swearing that followed on Monday, today, when I called him confused about the total cost. When the call didn't seem to be going anywhere, I told him to keep the $88 but that I would be writing the appropriate reviews on Yelp and Angie's List (3 stars for work well done but not happy about the overall cost), he said something to the effect of, "I'll give you back your f*cking money -- I'll come to your f*cking house and give it to you." That alone warrants this review. So while I imagine Marc and his staff have been doing and will continue to do great work, Marc's approach to his customers could use polishing. I made every effort to confirm his policy ahead of time and he even admitted that people don't seem to understand. And when he said to me, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you," before the his first visit, apparently he meant that he would charge me $88 for 15 minutes of work and then swear and yell and act like a sociopath over the phone after the job was done. No thanks Marc it looks like you've lost yourself a repeat customer.

Marc was excellent. I called him on a holiday week, the day before the 4th of July regarding a freezer unit that was not cooling. Marc was very responsive, arrived in less than one hour. He was able to tear down the freezer unit, fix the fan and fix the drain in less than an hour, and removed the ice maker from the freezer. Total cost was only $168 which is very reasonable considering what other repair companies charge for just a service call. If you have an appliance problem . . . definitely call Marc. - Todd

Marc knew exactly how to get at the problem. He steam cleaned the back part of the freezer mechanism, unclogged the drainage pipe that was causing the problem. He did it quickly and professionally and he did it himself. No untrained helper. I thought he was thorough, honest and would highly recommend.

I thought it went very well. I would call him back again for any other appliance issues. I would recommend him to any of my friends. He came on time.

Mark arrived on-time and was very pleasant to work with. He explained the issue and costs were very reasonable to resolve the problem. He had the parts on hand and no follow up visit was required.

It went great. Marc worked with my schedule and walked me through the repairs.

I called to schedule an appointment to have the igniter in my gas range replaced. They were scheduling jobs several days out. The morning of the appointment, they called to confirm and said they would come around noon. They didn't show up until 2:30. This wasn't a big deal, but a telephone call to say they were running late would have been nice. The man who did the work (Sherman) was friendly and polite and certainly seemed knowledgeable about appliance repair. The work was completed to my satisfaction an in a timely manner. I had priced the part online earlier, and Shermans price was competitive. The labor charge seemed high to me -- $170 for a half hour of work. But I don't really know if that is competitive or not, I didn't shop around. The sole reason for my poor review was his refusal to honor the 10% off Angies List coupon that is available at his listing on Angie's List. I presented the coupon to him after he wrote out my bill and he said, "Oh, you should have said you had a coupon." Why? So he could up-charge me? Then he said that he only honors the coupon for parts, not service. The coupon states "10% off service call for Angie's List members". It says nothing about the discount applying to parts, not labor. I didn't push the issue, but afterwards, I really felt cheated. I would not hire Sherman again.

Marc is easy to have around...very friendly but not in your face. He likes to solve problems and does so successfully. I would definitely call him again. I appreciate his honesty. He's offered to advise me on what to buy when I am ready to replace the old appliances in my condo...all are at least 20 years old!

So, we have a 10 year old Sears (Which was made by Whirlpool at the time - Now they are made by LG per Marc), and it was acting up so I checked Angies List for a reputable repair person and there was Marc. He was very friendly on the phone, and came over the next day, and as others commented, he appeared much more interested in being honest (and earning a new ongoing customer) by telling us to replace vs. maxing his short term profit by fixing our current refrigerator. He went on to share his opinion of what brands to buy (Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid/Amana...all owned by Whirlpool). I really appreciated his honest engagement with us vs appearing distracted (how do I get out of this house fast) or talking down to us given we are just typical consumers. I highly recommend Marc.

Really great service! Marc was easy to reach and very punctual and professional. He didn't try to convince us to do anything we didn't need. I will definitely use his services again and will recommend him to friends.

We noticed that our dishwasher was not working - no lights illuminating, was not getting any power and called Sherman's based on reviews on Angie's list. Marc heard my description of the problem and told me to look for flipped fuses and wall switches that might be powering off the unit. when I couldn't find any I scheduled a service date with him. Marc Sherman, the owner came out and was prompt and professional. Within a minute he had found the problem - a flipped switch. I was greatly embarrassed of course but he was very kind about my oversight. I would certainly call him for any other appliance issues in the future.

This was our second time using Sherman's Appliance and just like the first a job well done. the washer stopped draining due to a clogged filter. Mr Sherman even showed my hubby how to clear the filter in the future.

Mark Sherman was very responsive and helpful. We had a bit of a mix up on final cost due to an employee who gave an inaccurate estimate, but Mark stepped up and helped us out with price. The dryer has worked fine ever since and he saved my mom the cost and hassle of installing a new appliance.

Marc was extremely prompt. He arrived exactly when he said he would. He diagnosed the problem immediately and fixed it then and there. He is very professional and knowledgeable. A nice guy too. I will be using him again.

Marc was friendly and knew his trade. He left no trace he'd been there, which is not always the case after having work done in the house.
