We obtained 4 estimates for the complete master bath remodel. Jeff Veglia's estimate was the second highest estimate. We decided to go with Jeff based on the reviews on Angieslist. We are sure glad that we made that decision. Danny and Johnny showed up for the demolition work. They were very polite and professional. The put down carpet tape as well as drop cloths on all our floors and did a very clean job of demolition. Mick was the plumber who came in afterwards to do the plumbing before the rough work was going in. He was very personable and polite and did a nice job. Jeff Veglia was on the job site almost every day for a few minutes to make sure everything was going smoothly. Gary the electrician did the rough wiring. He was cheerful (a little too cheerful at times) and did a good job. Elvis and Benjamin came in to do the carpentry and tiling work which was the most time-consuming part of the job. They did an excellent job. Jeff recommended Sygma Stone in Stoneham for the granite but they had a very small selection of granite. My wife found the granite slab that she liked in Westwood and Sygma picked it up from Westwood and cut is all up and delivered it within two days. Jeff recommended a glass company for the shower door glass and the mirrors. They took two weeks to deliver the job. They did a nice job of installing the glass shower door. Jeff started on the exact day he said he would. The project took a while longer than promised. Part of the reason though was delay in obtaining some of the material that we were promised by other vendors and part of it was due to extra work that we requested in the middle of the project. Jeff was extremely responsive throughout the whole project. Every time I emailed him, he would be on the phone to me within minutes to answer my questions. I had to talk him out of calling back in the evenings and at nights on non-urgent issues. He is of a vanishing breed of contractors who actually care about the quality of work and customer satisfaction. We are very pleased with the job that Jeff and his crew did for us. Even though he cost a little more, I think we made the right choice here and would not hesitate to hire him again on any future projects we have that is within his scope of abilities.
Description of Work: Jeff Veglia Construction stripped our 5x13 master bath down to studs, removed the old bath tub, installed a new standing shower, did the plumbing, electrical, tile, painting, and finish carpentry. They installed all new bathroom fixtures, and cabinets. They installed a new door.

Overall a very positive experience, with everything completed on time, with professionalism, attention to detail, craftmanship, and pride in workmanship, and sensitivity to architectural features of the house. I was especially pleased with the day to day team....Benjamin and Johnnie did an outstanding job from start to finish. The team showed up every day on time, and took great care to clean up at the end of the day. The team appropriately asked for clarification and input when needed, and there were no surprises at any point in the process. Jeff Veglia was highly responsive and really focused on making sure communication was constant and clear, and it made a big difference to the smoothness of the process and resolution of any matters without any baloney and drama. All other contractors involved for the plumbing, electric and painting were equally skilled and professional as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Jeff Veglia and team. I am a highly demanding client and I am quite happy with the experience and the end product.

Jeff is a master general contractor, meaning he does a great job selecting his subs (with one exception), organizing, timing and coordinating their work, and being responsive to the homeowner's needs, requests and worries. We picked Jeff because his price was comparable to the others we got and he' so highly rated on Angie's List. We knew to select every bit of materials and fixtures in enough time before work started so everything would be here when needed. Jeff has a set of recommended suppliers, most of whom we used except tile. (We found no price benefit to using his suppliers.) Start time was not critical to us, and Jeff needed at least a good month to fit us in. Work started when he said it would, and the trade subs showed up like clockwork. Demo went quickly. Cleanup every day was very good. All his subs were courteous and good communicators. Existing plumbing conditions in our old house required extra work and set the timing back a bit, but Jeff kept his rough carpenter, plumber and electrician showing up as needed. (I have no doubt the extra work was needed. The plumbing problem was hidden.) The problem was the painter, who couldn't be here when the job was ready for him, so there was at least a week of nothing happening. The painter was the one sub whose work was OK but not great. Whenever we called Jeff with questions or requests, he was very responsive. He's good at managing owner expectations and dealing with their anxieties. Of course he stuck with his contract price for the expected work & we got a price for the plumbing extra work before it was done -- but we really had no choice but to do it. I have no way of evaluating whether the extra price was fair. The contract said there'd be extra charges if we selected materials requiring more labor (e.g., stone tile) and that's something to pay attention to when comparing prices. We've called Jeff a couple of times after paying him to deal with touch ups, and he's still very responsive. When we're ready for our next project, we'll definitely call Jeff if it's the type of work he does.

.It went very well! It re-established my belief that there are honest, reliable contractors. I should mention that Jeff's price for high quality work was very, very reasonable.
Description of Work: We had a very small 1/2 bath and wanted a 3/4 bath. We broke through a wall into the next room and expanded, installed a pocket door, mud job for shower floor, tiled walls of shower, etc An absolutely beautiful job! When done you would never know they had broken into the adjoining room. Danny was our carpenter and tiler. Real perfectionist and gentleman. All of Jeff's workers are always polite, on time,, and courteous!

Overall? FANTASTIC!!! I can't say enough terrific things about Jeff, his staff and his sub-contractors. Right from the start it was a positive experience. Jeff responded quickly to my first call for an estimate. He looked over the project, made some suggestions and sent a written estimate within 2 days of evaluating the project. He started the project about a month later. The 2 men who did most of the work, Elvis and Winton, were wonderful. They arrived promptly every day, were competent, pleasant, professional and respectful not only of us but of our house. As you can imagine, there was a fair amount of dust and debris since they had to break through a wall. They covered both the bathroom and the bedroom with plastic sheeting through the destruction phase. They cleaned up every night and left the bathroom (except for the shower) in very useable condition each day. At the end of the project they did a very thorough clean up. The quality of their work was excellent. Jeff came by almost every day to make sure all was going well. He bought the perfect tile, marble for the bench seat and two way shower head (mounted and hand held) for the project .The glass sub- contractor ordered and installed a beautiful glass wall and rod for a curtain on one side. The project was completed in the expected time frame and the shower is beautiful and functional. Not only that, but shortly after the project was completed we had a leak in the kitchen coming from the bathroom. Even though the site of the leak was not below the shower, I thought it might be coming from the shower since the project had just completed and it appeared after I used the shower. I contacted Jeff about it. He came out the next day and couldn't find the source. Jeff, Elvis, Winton and Tony, the plumber, came by the following morning and spent 4 hours trying to find the problem. As it turns out, the leak was from the toilet, which Jeff's crew had never touched, and not from the shower. The shower remained perfect! They fixed the toilet flange, cleaned up everything and didn't charge us one penny, even though the problem was not caused by their work. I highly recommend these people and Jeff's company. If we ever need a contractor again I will definitely call Jeff Veglia.
Description of Work: This company enlarged the stall shower in our small bathroom so it would better accommodate a disabled family member. Our house was built in 1890 and the bathroom is small. They enlarged the shower by expanding into the back bedroom . This work involved: demolishing the existing shower opening up the back wall into bedroom for new shower design moving heating vent and electrical outlets in back bedroom framing new shower, approximately 4’x4’ installing rough plumbing consisting of copper pan with existing 2” drain, and shower valve installing durock in shower installing blueboard and plaster on back side of shower (in bedroom) installing finish carpentry on bedroom side and paint installing marble shower bench, grab bars and ceramic soap dish installing tile and grout in shower and shower floor installing mud in copper pan with tile and grout installing glass shower wall and curtain rod for shower curtain disposing of all debris.

Before I go any further, let me just say your search for a contractor is over! I met Jeff after I called my plumber asking for a recommendation. I had met with a different contractor and felt he did not share my vision for the end result. To further complicate matters, I had already hired a tiler (also recommended previously by my plumber). I had also purchased all my new plumbing fixtures during tax free weekend at a high end retailer to try to cut some of the overall cost. So basically, I was asking Jeff to come in and pick up the pieces of a job that was leaving him with demo work and not a whole lot more from my perspective. Despite this unpropitious beginning, Jeff came and looked the job over and that was when I wished he had been my first call. He was punctual, he was nice (my dog loved him!), and he brought ideas to the job that fit my vision and budget. I had his estimate within the week and asked to get on his schedule. Work began in late September. Dan and Lenny came to do the demo work. The first thing they did was spread cloths over my carpet and paper on hardwood floors to protect them. Can I tell you how happy that made me? They had the bathroom torn down in 2 days. At the end of each day they cleaned up and stored their supplies out of my way. They were as nice as could be and engaging people to talk to. Dan began the carpentry work and consulted me along the way when we had possible code issues or stylistic questions. He would present the options and go whichever way I chose. This pattern of respecting the client's wishes was repeated throughout the process with every craftsperson that came to my house. Once the copper pan and plumbing were installed, (hired by me and with delays out of Jeff's control), the work went very quickly. The sub-flooring, walls, and ceiling were up in about a week. One Friday night after the carpenter, Jonny, (I apologize if I spelled it wrong!) had left after a long day I noticed water coming down through my kitchen ceiling. Though it was late and he was probably almost home, Jonny came back and pulled up the sub-flooring for the plumber at 9:30 at night. It has been a long time since I have seen that kind of pride of workmanship. He also returned Saturday morning to cut a hole in the kitchen ceiling for the plumber as soldering would be required. (The leak was caused by a faulty soldered joint from the 1940's that finally gave way from the vibration of installing drywall. It was in the connecting wall between the 2 bathrooms and would have become an issue anyway. I was very happy to have the "unexpected" happen before the bathroom was finished!) With the plumbing emergency out of the way and the hole in the kitchen ceiling closed up, the plasterers came in and did a superb job. You would never know there had been a hole. They did beautiful skim coating in the new bath and touched up areas that had been opened up during the demo or installing new plumbing. The electrician, Gary, made several trips as the work progressed to wire up new outlets and install lighting and radiant floor heat. He was always here on time and is one of the most fun people you will meet. Once the tiling work was completed, (again I had already hired someone before meeting Jeff but would not hesitate to have Jeff tile) the painter came and pulled it all together. Andy is a wonderful painter. He finished his work in a day and it is perfect. You can't tell where he did touch ups in the hallway where the plumbers had to cut into the wall. He had to clear away tile grout from some of the bathroom wall space before he could paint. It is as smooth as it can be. After that the electrician and one of Jeff's crew returned to install a heated towel warmer and the accessory fixtures and lighting. The towel warmer did not come with adjustable legs or an on/off switch. Jeff found a way to extend the upper legs of the towel warmer to make it level. (The towel warmer is half on tile, half on wall). Gary manufactured a button switch that looks as if it was always part of the towel warmer hardware. Barry measured and installed the glass shower doors. I was amazed when the turnaround time for the shower glass was only 2 weeks. I had been told at the retail plumbing fixture store it could take up to a month. We are finishing up final inspections now. The whole process took longer than usual due to delays with the plumber and tiler I used. This should not be a reflection on Jeff in any way. If anything, he was apologizing for their delays. He moved this job forward and completed it for me so I had a functioning bathroom when family came to visit. Despite it being an extremely busy time of year, he coordinated with all the sub-contractors and got me onto their schedules so the bathroom was finished in time. I would definitely hire Jeff again for future remodel projects. (As a matter of fact I have recommended him to another family member considering a remodel.) And I would call him first and let him coordinate ALL of it; the plumbing, tiling, etc. And you know how it is, now that one bathroom has been done, the other bathrooms and kitchen look like they could use a little sprucing up...
Description of Work: Total demo and re-build of second floor bathroom. Took bathroom down to studs and installed all new ceiling, flooring, walls and fixtures. This included carpentry, electrical, painting, tiling, plumbing. Please note, approximate cost above does not reflect entire bathroom cost as I used a different tiler. Cost above is also not final but includes labor and shower glass.

We obtained 4 estimates to remodel 3 bathrooms in our home. Jeff's estimate was very reasonable. Jeff was very courteous, humorous and extremely responsive. He suggested vendors with whom he works and has a discount to help us procure the needed materials, such as tiles, countertop stone, vanities, etc. The job foreman was Elvis, an extremely professional individual who is very proud of a work well done, and it showed. The team was always on time, left at the end of the day with everything as clean as possible and ensured we were never without a bathroom or a toilet during the entire 3 months the renovations took place. We felt so comfortable with the entire team that we did not hesitate to leave them the keys of the house while we went on vacations. The team finsihed the 2 upstairs bathrooms giving us a nice welcome home when we came back. The only caveat was that the 3rd bathroom took as long as the other 2 because the team had started working on other jobs and was stretched. The actual cost of the remodeling came just $ 2,500 more than the estimate due to 2 days of additional work that the plumbing required: we changed the location of one of the toilet which required moving the pipe across supporting floor beams. Jeff had warned us in advance that it may be the case.

The overall quality is exceptional and I enjoy the aesthetics of the bathroom every time I enter it.Jeff's bid was fair and the actual came in as budgeted and on time. I couldn't be more pleased overall and I feel that I got more than I could have hoped to get out of this project. I'd highly recommend Jeff' to everyone and I will seek Jeff's services in future remodel projects.
Description of Work: This was my first major remodel project in my 1985 built townhouse. I was inexperienced with the aspects related to i) planning the remodel, ii) the contractor relationship as well as iii) the various decisions that would be necessary. Jeff, and his team of various specialists, helped guide me through the entire process in a very professional manner. Jeff takes responsibility for all his services provided from start to finish. He and his team were functional and very respectful of my schedule. I'm very impressed by Jeff and his team's guidance in navigating me through the various aspects related to a full bathroom remodel. Although my bathroom is small, it was a full remodel down to the studs. Jeff provided me with great vendor referrals to select the necessary bathroom components that from tile to fixtures. I'm very pleased with the selections I've made and appreciate Jeff's referrals. There was an unexpected challenge related to the bathroom sink placement and Jeff's team came up with a creative solution that looks fabulous. Jeff's carpenter was creative with installing the nooks/inlets I had requested. His electrician was very helpful in guiding me through possible fixture placement and he successfully brought the bathroom up to the most recent electrical code. Jeff's tile specialist is an artist. I receive the most compliments on the creative tile placement. The plumber did a very good job as well and everything is optimal for what I requested. The plasters and painters did a fantastic job. Jeff was very responsive and patient with me. He is a great contractor based on my experience.

I cannot recommend Jeff Veglia highly enough, or his two main right-hand men (Johnny and Elvis). Jeff is an honest, kind man who listens to his client and has some fantastic subcontractors/employees. I absolutely love my kitchen, and I don't have any negative associations with the process to ruin that for me. Yay! Jeff's team spent approximately six weeks in our house. This included going down to the studs in two of four walls, moving a doorway, opening another doorway, and then rebuilding the kitchen and hallway. Jeff's team was in charge of everything except the counter installation (which keeps the granite company liable until the counter was fully installed) and the addition of a propane line to the new stove: drywall, electrical, plastering/painting, cabinet installation, plumbing, etc. I felt like Jeff tried to make the entire process as easy as possible on us. He was ALWAYS available to answer phone calls, and he was quick to address any issues that we brought to him. He even offered to buy and install a new faucet for our (not-part-of-the-remodel) bathroom when a decorative screw went missing mid-project. I was especially impressed by Johnny and Elvis (his main jack-of-all-trades, who did things like demo), his painting subcontractors, and his tiler. We have a relatively complex decorative tiling pattern, and it looks IMPECCABLE. This is due both to the tiler's skill as well as his ability to work out the project ahead of time and make sure that any potential issues (such as how the pattern will look when it meets at the corner) BEFORE laying down the tile. This is not to say that the project went without any hiccups. I didn't love the plasterers, who didn't do a great job of clean-up (although the plastering itself was *really* good -- seriously!). But when I complained, Jeff came over himself and cleaned up anything he could find -- which means that is only barely worth mentioning. More problematic was that we didn't discuss my tile plan ahead of time, so we had to move all the electrical outlets after already installing them and the drywall. We had to pay for that labor, which I understand. At the same time, it was a little frustrating because I warned them at the beginning that I had no clue about what went into this, so I wish someone had thought to double-check it before it became a problem. (Minor alleviation: Both Jeff and the tiler did spend a while trying to come up with alternatives that would avoid the extra work/cost. I'm the one who was insistent on the original design. I love it, though, and I am sure I made the right choice every time I look at my kitchen.) The biggest problem was the floor. We have lovely hardwood floors, but some patch work was going to be necessary -- where the entryway was widened, etc. The floor guys came to patch but were phoning it in and not respective of the specific requests I made to them before heading out that morning. Their job was abyssmal, to say the least, and they even left polyurethane-soaked towels in one of my brand-new cabinets as well as "fixing" (poorly!) a part of the floor that was nowhere near the kitchen. BUT we called Jeff, and he immediately took up our side with vigor. (I know for a fact, he told the floor subcontractors that their fifteen-year relationship was on the line if this wasn't addressed quickly and properly.) The floor guys not only redid our kitchen floor, but the entire downstairs. So I can't say that the project went entirely without a single hitch. But I can say that Jeff did his best to make that happen and responded immediately and positively (never in a defensive way, never dragging his feet) whenever a problem did arise. I always felt like he passed on the complaints to the parties involved, too, so that this would hopefully not be an issue in the future. When we are ready to redo our master bath in a few years, I will definitely be calling Jeff again.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel: down to the studs in most walls, plus some minor work on the connecting hallways and the mudroom.

We solicited five estimates for the renovation of the only bathroom in our house. We received four quotes: Jeff's was the second lowest. That, the work we saw on his website, and his open, honest manner persuaded us that Jeff was the one to handle our renovation. We were not disappointed. The bathroom needed to be completely gutted and rebuilt. Jeff and his crew arrived right on time, laid down the tarps, hung the protective plastic and got to work. The demolition was done in two days. After that we were introduced to perhaps Jeff's greatest asset, Elvis. Elvis handled the rebuilding of the walls, from framing through tiling. We had a rather tricky situation with the waste pipe where we were trying to gain a couple of extra inches - Elvis carved the two-by-fours to fit around the pipe, gaining us some much-appreciated space (it's a small bathroom). Elvis' real gift however is tiling. He enjoys his work and it shows. We had some special requests for the tiling - Elvis did them all perfectly, while offering some suggestions that made everything work out in an old house with less-than-perfect angles. He worked out a way to gain us 6 inches (!) in the tub / shower which really opened up the whole room. He did all this while being courteous, friendly, and cleaning up meticulously every day. There were a couple of hitches along the way (what construction project doesn't have one or two?) - the tub got chipped and the toilet arrived scratched - but Jeff took care of both of these immediately, no questions asked, no problem. Another glitch was of our making - we ordered the wrong depth on a cabinet to be hung over the toilet. From a company that does NOT do returns, no matter what. This was a $400 cabinet and I was not happy with the thought of having to take the loss. Jeff stepped in, talked to a friend who's a cabinet maker, and got the cabinet fixed for us. It looks wonderful, and we couldn't be happier. We were very concerned about our only toilet being unavailable during renovation. Jeff and Elvis saw to it that there was only one night throughout the whole process where the toilet was disconnected - this was when the floor tile was laid, and was unavoidable. This was MUCH better than we had feared. Making the process as painless as possible was always a consideration for them, and was very much appreciated. Whenever a question or a problem arose Jeff responded promptly and made sure that everything was resolved. Last-minute extra requests (change out the doorknobs, fix the pull-down attic stairs) were accommodated without a problem. Jeff and his whole crew (including his son and nephew on demolition!) met and exceeded our hopes for this renovation. The completed bathroom looks even better than we could have hoped. We will definitely call Jeff Veglia for any further home renovations.

Jeff was great to work with from the first meeting to the end. As previous reviewers have noted, he is very professional and quick to respond to any questions or requests. I have to give special credos to Dan. After the demo, we found that a couple of previous renovations (upstair bath and half bath) cause some structural damage. Dan did a fantastic job in repairing and fixing this problem. Dan was also very helpful in offering suggestions during the entire process and was always meticulous and professional in everything that he did. I also want to mention that Jeff is also quick and responsive to issues after the job have been completed. A couple of weeks and then a couple of months after the job have been completed, I had a couple of minor issues and Jeff was very quick to respond and fix the issues. I would not hesitate to hire him again or recommend him to friends (which I have already done).
Description of Work: Completely gutted kitchen which included removing wall between the kitchen and the mudroom. Dismantle a chimmey which was between the kitchen and mudroom. Dismantle old half bath and laundry and create a new half bath and laundry in a new area. Installed new cabinets, backsplash, porcelain tile floor. .

Jeff seemed to be the most knowledgable of the contractors we had provide us with estimates. I wasn't around when Jeff came, but my husband was duly impressed with Jeff's need to see behind particular walls and he pointed out things not noted by a previous contractor. Jeff's estimate was timely as well. Though we did end up going with another contractor, Jeff's estimate was right on the money and he's someone we'd consider using for future projects.

See above. A+++++ from the first call to the last tile!
Description of Work: Jeff responded within minutes to my first call. He answered my questions via email quickly. He and his crew (we love Elvis) showed up on time, were clean and courteous. Elvis was a terrific help in regards to colors and granite choice and the results are excellent. They had to match 10+ yr old specialty tiles and they did a great job. The copper pan for the shower floor was completed so fast, thank you Jeff. I will definitely use them in the future! These guys are GREAT!

We cannot recommend Jeff highly enough. We were very impressed with his professionalism and straight forward approach. We appreciated his honesty in giving us his expert opinon and for the time he spent providing us with the estimates. His pricing was fair but we decided to go in another direction with our projects although we are confident that Jeff would have done a great job.
Description of Work: We needed an estimate on bath renovations. Jeff is also a mason and provided us with a quote for masonry work.

Jeff and his crews were prompt and professional. Once we accepted his estimate, he had us select and purchase the tile and fixtures, and arrange for delivery. Although this was a bit more work for use (rather than have the contractor get the materials) it actually turned out to be a plus -- no haggling over allowances or coordinating the selection of items. When we set up a start date, the demo guys showed up right on time, introduced themselves, did their work, cleaned up, and left when they were done. The same was true of each crew -- no 'no-shows' or disorganization. Jeff would check in after each work day, either in person or by phone, to make sure there weren't any problems, and to let us know who would be coming next, and when. The whole job was done in a few days, and we are happy with the product. There was one issue with the sink plumbing leaking, and Jeff got the plumber in right away to fix it.
Description of Work: Remodelling of half bath, including demolition/removal of old tile and fixtures, installation of new ceramic tile floor, drywall/plaster, vanity and sink, toilet, and electrical outlet.

We worked with Jeff's team to remodel our upstairs bathrooms last year and had such a wonderful experience that we decided to have him do our kitchen this year. The kitchen remodel was another wonderful experience -- as wonderful as it could be to live in the midst of a kitchen renovation! Jeff was supportive through the entire process -- his guys even moved my washer and dryer down to the basement to set up a temporary kitchen/laundry room for us during the renovation. When we were having trouble deciding on a layout for the kitchen, Jeff brought in a colleague who gave us just the additional advice we needed to make a final decision. Jeff's team was also kind and respectful to our family during the entire renovation process. It was difficult to have contractors in our house every day, but they made the experience as painless as possible. They were kind to our children, they worked hard to contain dust within the work area, they cleaned up the site each day, they never used foul language.... Jeff was also extremely accommodating of my special requests and never complained when I wanted to incorporate a few different design details. He always responded, "Let's do this right. We want you to be happy." I am also grateful that Jeff and his guys are detail-oriented and their finish work is worthy of a magazine photo shoot. Their tile work is especially noteworthy. Jeff's guys Elvis and Johnny did a custom tile backsplash and custom tile on the range hood -- breathtaking! A true focal point in the kitchen. I highly recommend Jeff Veglia to all of my friends who are considering renovations in their homes. He is a true professional.
Description of Work: We worked with Jeff's team to remodel the first floor of our house -- kitchen, dining room, powder room and laundry room. We removed a wall between the kitchen and dining room, to open up the space, and then reconfigured the kitchen layout to create more space for cooking and entertaining. We replaced all cabinets, appliances, plumbing and lighting. We also reconfigured the powder room and laundry room to make better use of that space. Jeff did an amazing job of helping us envision that space and configure it to maximum advantage.

I was very impressed with the company. I did not use them because I think I would have definitely gone over budget. I was looking for people more in my vicinity and not further out. The estimate was about $28000. I had a good feeling about Jeff when he came out. He was very straightforward. He gave me a lot of information. He took time to actually bring his plumbers out because I had a special circumstance. I was happy. I was heartbroken that I couldn’t go with him. I would recommend him. If I was to have another major project, I would definitely try to get him out again.

Jeff was polite, courteous, and professional through the whole experience. In the end I did select another contractor who was more local-- someone in my home town for whom I had personal references. But I would not hesitate to call Jeff for another job. His bid was competetive, he seemed to have long-term relationships with his sub-contractors, and he was gracious and pleasant to work with. Highly recommended based on my initial experience.
Description of Work: Jeff Veglia provided an estimate for a complete renovation of my kitchen and two bathrooms. He arrived right on time at my house for a walk-through. He spent the better part of an hour with me, talking to me about my renovation plans. He had a measuring tape and took measurements to quickly size up the job. Jeff advised me on schedule and sequencing of the project, and made helpful suggestions on finishes, relative costs of materials, etc. He gave me the names and phone numbers for his cabinet, stone, tile, and plumbing fixtures vendors and offered to make calls on my behalf. Soon afterwards, Jeff followed up with an estimate. When I had some questions, he responded quickly with follow-up information. Jeff's estimate was right in line with other highly-recommend contractors I spoke to. We had several follow-up conversations when I had questions about materials, costs, schedule, etc., and he clearly put some time and effort into helping me.

I didn't think he would give me the time of day, since he seems to do bigger jobs than mine, but he was very willing to give me an estimate for re-doing my kitchen. He came to my home before work at 6:30am, to make that estimate. He was very nice, but my budget is limited, so I've decided to in another direction.

We interviewed and got quotes from five different contractors, mostly people we found on Angies List. Jeff was in the middle of the pack on price (maybe towards the lower price end), but at the same time had perfect references and reviews on Angie's List. He also came off as a great, trustworthy person who appeared to have the vision, knowledge, skills and resources to do a great job on our bathroom. We had a lot of confidence in him, so we went with him over the other four people. We purchased the majority of the tile and fixtures ourselves, but Jeff did provide some of the materials, such as marble slabs among other things. We were very pleased with Jeff and his crew. Jeff is very responsive and professional. He keeps very involved in the project and his main guy, Elvis, the crew leader is also very responsive. Jeff's crew started the job shortly before Thanksgiving. They gutted the bathroom which has been there since 1889 and had many layers and surprises to it. You would not have even known that they were gutting our bathroom, there was absolutely no mess left behind. Each day the crew made sure to clean up nicely and they used their own materials to do the clean up. Once worked began Jeff and Elvis were in constant communication with us making sure they clarified exactly what we wanted. If a minor issue came up Jeff was very easy to deal with, very responsive and very understanding. Jeff kept in touch with us on a near daily basis, giving us information, asking us questions and getting our feedback on the work and what we want. We have worked with a few contractors before. They were all tough to deal with and did not want to be bothered, we were happy to see that Jeff was not like this. I want to stress how great Jeff was when there was a problem, either on their end or because of us. After Jeff's plumber had finished setting up our washer and dryer we ended up getting a new washer and dryer days later. Jeff had his plumber come back out and switch them out for us right away when the plumber wasn't even scheduled to come out anytime soon (I would have done myself, but it is a gas dryer). If there were little mix ups on where an outlet was supposed to go and something had to be redone, Jeff took care of it right away. We didn't like the way a door was closing, no discussion, Jeff had someone fix it asap. A minor problem with the sash of a window, Jeff replaced immediately. The bathroom is now done. We are very happy with it, it looks perfect, exactly what we wanted. The bathroom is much warmer than it has ever been, including the floor. Jeff's crew had installed our combo light, heating element, ventilation fan an the heat source makes the room very comfy. Plenty of room in shower, cast iron tub is great. No issues at all. The tile on the floor and walls looks good. Every detail looks great. We also love having the laundry room in the basement right at the bottom of the stairs. The only drawbacks to the whole experience was that the whole project was spread over several months. This was partly due to the fact that Thanksgiving and Christmas vacation got in the way of the project. We also had an issue of not having enough tile because we decided to add a niche in the shower, we ended up a few tile short. We had to wait a couple weeks to get the tile in. I am sure this was a pain for Jeff, but to his credit he never said anything. All that said, I think the job could have got done a little quicker as it went from November to late Feb. I know our location was a little difficult for him because we were on the fringe, if not outside of the area he works in and that probably was partially a cause for the length of the project. We were just happy to have Jeff working with us though and were not too upset about the length of the job, we just wanted the job done right. All in all, if you are looking for someone who will do a great job ( maybe the best job) remodeling your bathroom, who will give you a fair price, and will treat you like a friend through the whole experience, then look no further than Jeff Veglia. He is uncompromising in his quest in creating the highest quality bathroom while paying attention to every detail and making sure the customer is completely satisfied. We hope to use him again for our kitchen and we will recommend him to others. His price was more than fair, as I said in the middle of the pack of the estimates, but not far from the cheapest estimate. To us, having complete peace of mind and trust in our contractor is worth it. Thanks Jeff!
Description of Work: Completely gut bath and laundry room. Move laundry to basement, which required running gas and plumbing to a new location in the basement. Completely remodel bath. Install subway tiles to walls. Completely new door, door frame area, walls, , built out exterior walls with double insulation(shower is in corner of two exterior walls) new ceiling, victorian style trim, new floor and so on. Paint new bathroom. Also did some extra jobs around the house such as some light plaster work and rehanging of doors.

Our overall experience was very positive. Jeff and his crew were professional and the quality of work was first class (with a special mention to Dan, who completed the majority of the work). Initial price quoted was mid-range, but Jeff did come down from his initial bid which was much appreciated. The job did take a little longer than expected, but to be fair, it was over the holiday period of Thanksgiving and Xmas. Clean up each day was thorough and all workers contracted by Jeff were friendly and professional. The tiling work was of an especially high standard (another big thanks to Dan). Despite having high expectations of what the end product would look like, the finished bathroom was better than even we'd hoped for. I also have to make a special mention of Cassia Wyner who gave invaluable help in the designing stage (and afterwards). I would have no hesitation at all in having Jeff do another job in our home.
Description of Work: Job entailed gutting a bathroom back to studs, leveling a two-level ceiling, and building a new bathroom from scratch including all plumbing, electrical, tiling, drywall, plaster, painting and the removal of all debris.

Jeff from Jeff Veglia Remodeling & Tile Contracting Company was very good at getting back to me about when he could come out for the job. He was here on time. He noticed a few things about the project which nobody else had noticed yet. My experience was good but I thought his quote was two times of what it should be. I will probably not contact him in the future for a quote.

Hi Member, It seems kind of harsh to complain about my estimate and put the complaint on Angie's List. I gave you a detailed estimate to do a full bathroom renovation including plumbing and electrical for $14,490.00 (not including fixtures). You live on the 4th floor in the city with no elevator. Because of factors such as parking, transp., materials, etc., jobs like yours take approx. 20% longer to do. You had sent me an email saying you did not have any other estimates to compare mine to, which makes me question your statement about how high my quote was. You complained about my estimate and said you would never hire me. My reputation has always been strong on and off of Angie's List because I am honest, and treat people with professionalism and respect. I have even given money back at the end of a job if my estimate was hirer than expected. I am usually told that my estimates are always in the lower middle of the pack. I am very seldom the highest estimate. For you to say that I am double of what it should be is your opinion of what you want to spend. An average cost of a bathroom with average working conditions is between $11,500 and $14,000 without fixtures for a company with insurance and licenses. You are entitled to your opinion. I would be interested in hearing where my quote is in comparison to the two quotes you are waiting to receive.
