To be fair this was the first time we had hired painters being new homeowners and despite the fact that Nilson was more expensive then several of our other quotes, we chose to work with him. Him and his team arrived promptly, were all pleasant, and seemed to be working effectively and efficiently. Subsequent to the work being done we moved in. I wanted to hold off on writing this review until I had lived with the work for a while. While the areas I know Nilson worked on generally looked great his team (3 other painters) left much to be desired. The paint looks like it was rushed with very little attention to detail. By way of example, areas of the trim had been painted with such a heavy amount of paint that their are extensive drip runs, thick brush lines, and along the walls consistent over painting of the freshly painted trim with the wall color. Simple things like removing a slider door to paint the piece that shows when the door is opened was not completed until I was withholding payment. I guess I should not be surprised given that he finished the job three days earlier than he told me he would but given the cost I expected a higher quality of work. We have lived i the house for almost a year and I expect the work will need to be redone within the next year and half. He was a nice guy but I think this was a lesson learned for me. Not everyone wants to do good work and without supervision will likely leave a lot to be desired. Make sure you complain about work you see early and often.

he did a through power wash cleaning and experior painting. he did very good job staining doors, but excellent job painting the whole house. everything was priced separately (doors, iron railings, house) and i chose my options and the job went smoothly. it rained many days and the job did not finish as quickly as we planned, but nobody can guarantee the weather. he is very sincere and serious, communicates time line and get the job done as promised. i believe that this painting will last for long time. i definitely recommend his company.

Nilson did a great job painting a three-story common hallway in my condo building. From start to finish, he and his team completed all tasks with speed and professionalism. He is very responsive and punctual. He prepped all the woodwork and protected the floors. He repaired numerous cracks and delivered a quality job in a short period of time. I wholeheartedly recommend him for any size job.

While Nilson's team was completing a larger job, I asked him to repaint my daughter's nursery as well as repair a few cracks and imperfections in our family room walls. He quickly accommodated my requests and did a fantastic job. All the walls look new and we are thrilled with the result.

On Wednesday the 02/14/18 I met with Nilson the Owner of Guedes Painting. I was with my tile contractor. Nilson was punctional. But he was at the wrong apartment. So I waved him over to my unit. I introduced myself- he started to look around. And it was weird because he asked me questions like are you the owner or the contractor? And will you have other jobs after this one? He was acting like he was writing things down- and then said he was gonna give me estimate. That I never received. The project is a new construction project on Hampton beach. Long story short! I never got a estimate! I got a text message for $4,300.00!!! And he wanted me to buy the supplies and PAINT! We incomplained he said let’s do $4,000!!! The job isn’t worth more than $2,000- according to other estimates. Nilson is a GREEDY contractor that inflates estimates and tries to get RICH off one job! By the way the condo is a ONE BEDROOM- 600 SQ FT unit. This is the worst experience I’ve had dealing with a contractor. He’s the most unprofessional contractor I’ve dealt with! I would not recommend him to anyone I know for anything!!! After trying to explain my budget which was $3,000- after feeling I needed to get the job done- coming up from $2,000- he said he’d work with my budget?! And then said it was too low!!! Long story short- I’m still looking for a painter. My first time dealing With Angie’s list was Horrible! I would never refer or network with this company or painter ever! GREED is a terrible thing- when I didn’t wanna pay $4,000 he didn’t return my phone calls or ever send a paper estimate. Left me high and dry. Thanks a lot Nilson-

He did a great job, was able to schedule us before we were going to move in on short notice, and completed the job on time. He showed great attention to detail and it looks great.

Nilson at Guedes Painting did a fine job. He finished on time and left the place in good order with a lovely fresh coat of paint. I did have to drive to meet him to get the contract signed, but I was a on a rushed schedule and didn't mind since it facilitated a faster start date. The price was within the lower range of quotes I sought. Would use again. Thanks!

Nilson (the owner) responded to our quote request and came out for the on-stie estimation promptly. He described to us in detail how he planned to carry out the project and explained why his approach was better for the house. We signed the contract with Nilson in June and the work started in August. The project started a couple of weeks late and lasted about a month due to rain delay but overall it went very smoothly. The actual job took about 2 weeks. The solar panels we installed on our roof made the roof access a little difficult but they did a good job painting the 2 chimneys next to the panels. Overall we are very happen with the job. Nilson also recommended a carpenter who did all the necessary wood work repairs for us at a reasonable price. The carpenter also managed to get someone to fix and re-install a pair of steel handrails at the front door for a good price.

Nilson was great. Originally gave me a 7 day estimate but finished the project in 4 days. He was super flexible as we changed our mind on one of the colors 3 separate times and Nilson was extremely patient with us and held off on finishing the room until we finally made up our mind. He gave very insightful suggestions on what the best finishes were and was very considerate of our concerns regarding the strong smell of primer.

Nilson was professional, thorough, and very well-priced. He was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end, accommodating our scheduling issues and agreeing to add on additional work the day of. Would highly recommend.

Nilson was great. Showed up and gave a comprehensive quote for a job with a lot of little features. He pointed out extra issues that could be done (repainting trim or ceiling where old paint would show), but did not push the issue when we declined.

Nilson has performed a number of painting projects at my residence. Both interior and exterior work. I recommend him wholeheartedly. His rates are very fair, he is professional and punctual. His work is top notch and very clean.

Fantastic. Nilson's work was perfect. We were putting our house on the market and the work he did was critical to the selling process. We couldn't have been happier with his work.

Neilson cleaned, prepared, primed and painted our 1930's colonial, including reviewing, assessing and arranging replacement of any rotted mouldings around the base of the trim/windows. He was meticulous and did a terrific job, in addition to being prompt and communicative throughout the process. His quote was competitive and he came recommended to me from a Newton neighbor, and I'd have no hesitation recommending him.

Nilson was very motivated. He immediately made an appointment to do an estimate and sent me the written estimate via email that night. We really liked the fact that as the owner of the business, he was on the premises and working every day with his assistant. He explained his process to us, and it seemed very thorough--scraping, sanding, power washing, priming, painting. We were overdue for the painting, and there were some sills, rafters, and other places that had rotted and needed to be replaced. Nilson provided a carpenter who did the work at what seemed to be a reasonable price. Nilson and his assistant showed up promptly every morning and worked all day. He had estimated that the job would take 2.5-3 weeks, and it did take exactly 2 weeks and 2 days. He initially gave us a start date of about 3-4 weeks out from the date of the estimate, but we were delighted that he was actually able to start much earlier (the Monday after we signed the estimate, which I believe was on a Friday morning) due to a delay in his next job. It was great to get this work which we knew was needed before the end of the summer.

Nilson and his helper did a great job on short notice painting a rental property for me. He's a very nice guy and takes pride in his work. I would definitely use him again.

My family and I were very happy with the finished product. The team was very professional and worked very hard. They spent a lot of time scrapping the house prior to painting to ensure that the paint job would hold up for many many years to come. They took pride in their work and I look forward to working with them in the future.

Everything was really fantastic. From the beginning of the process until the very end, Nilson was punctual, informative, professional and thorough. They did an incredible job with the painting and his carpenter was extremely fair and thorough with some repair work that they did along the way. I have already referred Nilson to several friends who are currently using his team and they are equally satisfied. He is one of the rare ones to do what he says he is going to do, when he says that he is going to do and for a fair price. I don't think one should answer phone calls all day (though I understand it is work related) but it takes time away from the job i am paying for. Especially if he has to climb down a large ladder 15 times! The result was OK, but I realized, it was better to pay for a professional grinder to get the paint off and then pay painters to paint.

Nilson and his co-worker were great! I originally wanted all the same areas as noted above but had Nilson include the cost of painting out the trim and doors as well. I haven't had anyone paint in my home in about 6 years so I was not sure what to expect in the way of cost. When the quote came back, within 2 days, which is also quicker than the norm, it was more than I had budgeted for in my head. I told Nilson this and he suggested removing the cost of the trim and doors and that got the quote down closer to what I felt comfortable paying. I did have other painters come out and give me quotes, however, they were not as thorough with their walk-throughs and didn't pay attention to details as Nilson did. Even though Nilson's quote was a little bit higher, not outrageously so, I decided to go with him - and am VERY glad I did! Nilson and his co-worker showed up on time every day, did a great job, paid a lot of attention to detail and CLEANED UP EVERY NIGHT - yes, you read that correctly! I have never had someone in my home to do work that was as considerate as Nilson. The job turned out beautifully! We love the new color and are extremely happy that the settling cracks are now gone! In the end paying a few extra dollars was totally worth it. You get what you pay for, and we got a superior job. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Guedes Painting again!
