Please see above for details. It was a wonderful experience overall. We are very happy with Dan and highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a good piano tuner with a reasonable price.

I acquired the piano free off Craigslist and had Dan come take a look at it to make in playable. I wanted someone who was reasonably priced and would be willing to inspect the piano, do a tuning and do whatever else is needed to make the piano playable by a new piano player. We set up a time and Dan was came within 20 minutes of when we'd set up the time because he took a wrong turn once and called to tell us that he would be there in a few minutes after someone directed him to the correct place. Dan looked up the piano serial number to tell us that the piano was built in 1916 based on the serial number, and that it seemed to be in decent condition. Beyond that, Dan took the time to explain the whole process of tuning and servicing as I was very interested in every facet of the piano, including explaining the intricate details of the process of tuning. The tuning itself was done quickly as he uses an electronic piano tuner that enables him to calculate the temperament for the individual piano based on a few strings and allows him to spend the rest of the time getting the tuning right. But after he was done, he showed me how to tune individual strings by ear by hearing for and quot;beatsand quot; as is done by piano tuners who are tuning by ear and as is done when a piano tuner takes the tuning exams to get licensed. Dan also showed me how the action needed to be serviced, the hammers needed to be reshaped and he had to do this at his workshop so he took the piano action with him. Dan returned the following weekend and installed the new action, and also fixed the voicing on a couple of keys that were very off, and showed me exactly how this is done by adjusting three different areas of a key's action. This is a service that will require a few more hours to do for all the keys, and we decided to leave this off for now as Dan has already made the piano very playable by a new learner. We are very happy with the work and would recommend Dan to anyone for tuning and service of a piano.

Dan tuned the piano, educating us along the way, played a few songs which we enjoyed, and suggested we might consider piano regulation and/or damper system in future.

It went well. As promised, Dan sent out an email reminder (as he promised last year) at the beginning of the month that it was about time to retune the piano.That worked out well for me as I would have forgotten about making the appointment on my own.. I once again I was happy to have Dan tune-up my piano. He not only explained that my piano was a bit on the flat-side before he tuned it, he told me tips on how to take care of it in terms of cleaning and the like. Dan also ended up cleaning my piano for me - even the keys! It was also wonderful to hear him play once the piano was tuned. I'll be sure to have Dan back next year.

Dan is an extraordinary tuner and piano repair guy. He also plays very well. I highly recommend him.

Dan arrived on time for a Saturday morning appointment. He was extremely knowledgable and friendly. He spent around 3 hours taking my entire piano apart to clean and tune. As he took it apart he educated us on the different parts of the piano and showed us how to tell the age of the piano. He then tuned the piano and before putting it back together showed us a couple of things we might like to repair. He showed us two missing strings, which keys had loose screws and which hammers needed to be filed. He explained to us how he would fix those items and the cost associated with doing it. But he was very clear that we had time before we needed to do it. He suggested we play the piano for a while and then think about having the minor issues fixed as none of them were affecting the sound quality to an extended degree. I was extremely impressed by his professionalism and knowledge. Our new (old) piano sounds great and I would recommend Dan to friends and family alike as the job he does is excellent and well worth the price of service.

Very professional on phone...AND in my home. Came when he said he was and was very neat and organized. The price can't be beat -- spent about 3 hours in my home and only charged $110 for a complete tuning - and this piano had NEVER been tuned! Sounds incredible now! Very informative as well...you can't go wrong. Highly recommend!!

It went very well. As he was tuning up the piano, it was explained to me the mechanics of the piano and the like. The piano sounds great. Besides, as I found out - after the fact - that he has tuned pianos used in concert for Liza Minelli, John Tesh and BB King.

Dan Iannotti's professionalism and expertise couldnt have been better! Every step of the way, from problem analysis to spelling out what work would need to be done, Dan excelled at explaining things on a laymen's level. He was very supportive of my desire to understand why we were having the "action" problems we were having and what each repair step would entail, including the itemized costs of every replaced part. As an educator myself, I cannot emphasize enough how refreshing it was to have him willing and most able to help us understand what needed to be done and why. His attention to detail and boundless knowledge on the most minute details of what makes a piano work well was most impressive. I would recommend him to anyone who wants service from a tuning to repair work on any kind of piano.

Dan has been tuning our piano for several years. He's very pleasant, very professional, and has made some excellent recommendations for how best to care for our piano, which is 100 years old. He's also excellent with children, very patient with their questions! Several years ago, he recommended we purchase a Dampp Chaser system, which is installed under the piano and helps keep the humidity level steady to help ensure the piano stays in tune longer. The following year, we had him install the system (which is totally hidden under the piano). It was a great recommendation, because the piano has been more in tune ever since, even between tunings. When Dan makes a recommendation, he provides several options and helps you weigh the cost and benefit of each, which is very helpful in the current economy.
