Called for emergency replacement of a water heater for my parents. No extra charge for the holiday, which made my dad very happy. After asking detailed questions on the phone, the worker arrived with a professional truck full of tools and a new water heater. He installed the new one and took the old heater away. (Not sure of the actual price because my dad wrote the check)

Things went well. They explained that they would first need to diagnose the issue and correct the issue. They explained everything up front so there weren't any surprises.

We got several estimates, but we went with a company that had extra services we were interested in also. Not that we didn't like Milltown. We really liked them. They were very straightforward and very honest with what they could and could not do. The guy had a lot of experience behind him. They came out the same day we called them. They were dead on punctuality. They were very professional. Had they offered the same apple to apple services, we would have chosen them.

In 1998, I wanted to replace the original furnace to our house which had had quite a few repairs and could die at any moment according to the inspection we had when we bought the house the year before. (With several young children, including a new baby, I did not want to be without heat if at all possible.) Fred, the owner, was the only person out of several local companies which I called who came to my house, meet with me, and talk to me about gas furnace options. After our meeting, he sent me a written estimate along with brochures on several high efficiency gas furnaces. He called me to see if I had any questions or concerns before we started. When the work had started, Fred came to me and told me that the chimney needed a stainless steel liner to bring it up to code. He said it was his mistake that it had been left off but that there would be an additional cost. I didn't have additional money set aside to pay for this additional work. I told him this and asked him if I could pay it over a few months time. He asked me what I could do and we agreed upon a schedule. (I can't remember if it was 3 or 6 months anymore.) Since the furnace installation, I have had a Superstow Ulta hot water storage tank installed (it doesn't have a flame), replaced toilets and sinks, fixed leaks, and unstopped drains. In the past year or two, I have met with and spoken with Fred Jr, Fred's son, and Fred Jr has been very polite and gone out of his way to make sure that my plumbing needs are met, whether I have a leak, stopped up drain, or a heating system that has an occasional problem. I don't expect that there will never be problems or mistakes but how they are handled means a great deal to me about the character of the person. I have had Milltown plumbing handle my plumbing and heating needs for 12 years and I would certainly call upon them for any future needs including any bathroom or kitchen remodeling projects. I am more than glad to recommend them to neighbors and to the subscribers of Angie's List. If I want to talk to them before I do any work or make any purchases, Fred, Fred Jr, and all of their staff are glad to answer any questions I might have and offer suggestions or information that might be helpful to me.

I was having new appliances delivered and installed that required a professional plumber. I did not have a long lead time, but they were able to accomodate my needs within my required time frame. I had not received complete instructions from the store where I bought the appliances, so 2 visits by Milltown were required. That probably added to the cost unnecessarily. They also fixed a leaky valve on the hot water heater. The two Freds and Bernie were great to work with - I would definitely use them again for plumbing needs. Probably replacing the hot water heater!

Central office called ahead of time to understand the problems. The repairman did great work, was friendly, and helped me understand the options.
