Jeffrey Esterkes of Leader Bank did an excellent job of providing me help in securing my first time home buyer mortgage for a condo I recently purchased. He was very responsive to all the questions and in providing the documents necessary for my home purchase. Jeff is very professional and friendly in all our interactions and I would gladly work with him again in the future.

He was this time, as he had been 17 years ago, the consummate mortgage professional. Always prompt and accurate in his responses, clear in his instructions, accurate with numbers (very important in this kind of transaction), and available at all hours of the day (including getting back to us with important rate and lock-in information on the weekend). He build trust by not just trying to sell you a product, but advise you using the highest professional standards. For instance, three years ago, when I contacted him about refinancing, he advised against doing so after considering all available circumstances -- even though he could have earned a commission and closed "a deal". Jeff is who you want by your side when making a major purchase, such as a new home. I highly recommend him.

All loans have some sort of issue or other, and this one was no exception. Leader Bank did a great job of tackling our issue head-on, and kept the loan on track. We even closed early! His communication on status was top notch, and he had great follow-up in place even after the loan closed. Helped to keep costs under control and had a great rate! Great Job!

Update: I don't know how but I inadvertently hit 'F' for price which should have also been an A. As noted, during the process, the rates were fluctuating and Jeff was right on top of things. The cost for working with Leader Bank was more than reasonable. My apologies for the mistake in the grade. From the moment I called Jeff, I knew I was in good hands. He kept me informed about what was needed to obtain the mortgage, provided clear list of all the information I would have to gather, followed up quickly when I had questions, ensured I understood the process, the interest rates and how that all worked. Even when it seemed the paperwork would never end, Jeff was there with encouragement, explaining the process and assuring me things were moving along normally. Being able to use a shared cloud folder to provide the documents was a huge help and made everything so much easier. Overall, Leader Bank and Jeff were fantastic to work with and I highly recommend them to others.

I originally planned to obtain a mortgage through a work connection, but my real estate agent recommended I work with Jeff and I was glad I did.. He made a better offer than the one through work, and made suggestions to minimize closing costs. I was also happy to have my loan originate from a local bank with a good reputation. I don't think anyone enjoys applying for a mortgage but Jeff did everything he could to minimize the pain(!). I would strongly recommend you call him when looking for a mortgage.

We were very disappointed in our experience. We had multiple occasions where we had sent in documents requested by the Bank, but the Bank initially claimed they did not receive them but later confirmed that they did or we had the actual confirmation that it was sent. In trying to shop for the best lender we were trying to compare the costs of using one lender verses another. We asked Jeff Esterkes about who would pay the actual appraisal fee (not the refunded application fee), and we were told that Leader would pay that cost. When it came to the closing table, we paid that fee, not Leader Bank. When we asked about it, Leader said that we had misunderstood. I have over 13 years as a real estate closing paralegal, it was not a misunderstanding, I think Jeff at Leader was deliberately vague in his answer or chose not to listen to what I was actually asking. Leader Bank has made the choice to not make it right.
