AJ Rose Carpets & Flooring

It went great. Larry, our salesperson was very helpful in choosing the carpet and arranging the installation date. He was not pushy, unlike some carpet salespeople. He helped us choose an excellent carpet. We wanted the carpet installed before Thanksgiving, and he got it done!! The three installers, Michael, Jason, and John, were excellent. They were very nice people, did an excellent job, and truly exceeded our expectations. My husband and I are amazed at how beautifully it turned out. The installers are clearly very experienced.

Superbly. From choosing the carpet and tile to the installation-- everything went as well as we could have hoped.

We began the process about 6 months earlier: initially we were going to replace the carpet, and the store took a $50 deposit which allowed us to bring home big samples of the carpet. We didn't realize at the time that we were looking at commercial carpet, so it would have been cost prohibitive for our small hallway, so the sales rep Pete contacted us about this and offered to help us choose something for the home. In the meantime, we decided to go with the hardwood instead and use a custom runner. Pete was patient throughout and showed us the best match for what was already in our house. Once we were ready for installation, it only took about a week to schedule the install as the floor was in stock. The install was a little challenging because it is a small space. We are very pleased with the result, but the baseboard is going to need some repainting and the walls are a little scuffed. One small section of baseboard is cracked completely and there are gaps around the bath threshold and under the baseboard which need filling or shims. There was also a lot of cleanup in the hall closet which we weren't anticipating, but it's probably to be expected when installing hardwood. I just wish we were better prepared for the cleanup and the patch up work which needs to be done.

Fantastic. They were professional,showed up on time and the installation was the best I've seen. They cleaned up everything.

Overall, it was a positive experience, after a bit of a mix-up as to which carpeting was ordered. But, that was taken care of before installation. The carpeting team was very good and leader of team, Jason, was especially helpful.

SMOOTH FOR ME. I JUST HAD TO UNPLUG THE ELECTRONICS. THEY MOVED EVERYTHING AND THE CARPETING LOOKS GREAT.

Although I dealt with a number of different salespeople over the four days that I brought home various samples, I felt they were all pretty knowledgeable and helpful, and I was pleased with the assistance I received. I set up a date for installation- they confirmed a couple of times and the installers showed up exactly on time. They moved all my furniture and were careful and respectful of everything. In four hours they had removed the old carpeting, put down the new pad and carpeting and moved back all the furniture, a job that I had thought would take all day. I am very happy with the carpeting and the job they did.

Prompt, courteous service. Good installer. Everything done as promised and on time. Have used before and will again.

I went there originally to look at area rugs, but had a very limited selection. Bought an area rug at Lowes, but they had poor selection of pads. Did not want rubberized one. AJ Rose had the pad I wanted.

After trying to use a home improvement store that uses subcontractors and repeatedly missing the deadlines to order the product to allow for installation after I closed on a new condo, I looked up flooring installers on Angie's List. When I saw A J Rose listed, I remembered them from a radio ad and decided to try them. Jeanne at the Burlington store was lovely -- she showed me the areas of the store where I could find the products I was looking for and checked in a couple of times. The measurements were taken the next day. Both the laminate installer and the carpet measurer were prompt and professional. On the day of the installation, the carpet guys were prompt and installed everything beautifully. The laminate installation team was a little late (30 minutes) but did an impeccable job and didn't complete everything until 9 PM that evening. Most impressive was the trim molding work -- the floor looks wonderful and I've already had neighbor's inquire about it! A J Rose was able to rise to my limited time frame challenge and deploy a gorgeous floor in a tight window between my closing and move-in date. I can't stress how wonderful they were enough!!!

For what I considered a large job, it was difficult to get anything in writing. I was told that as a practice they do not provide written quotations or receipts beyond what is provided for a credit card. The installation was for a house purchase and it was difficult to get access to the house for measuring. If we had the opportunity to get back in the house for measurements we would have had used another company. After they provided a quote, they would not honor the Angies List coupon. The installers were professional and did good and efficient work.

very helpful at the showroom. no pressure at all. they were very flexible with the date to come out for the estimate and the day for the installation. went smoothly without any hiccups.

I was initially ignored when I walked into the store. One person was with a client but another was obviously busy doing ?????. I waited five minutes and then after excusing myself asked if there was anyone available to assist me. At that point the gentleman doing ???? was called over to assist me. I knew what I wanted in carpeting but was doing price checks. I received a price that was $130 cheaper than another carpet company based on final measurements. The measurements were done by a nice gentleman and he confirmed our measurements exactly including the extra two pieces I requested. The problem arose over the estimate I received. I had requested that two extra 3' x2' be cut for the bottom of the stairs and had mentioned this right in the beginning since these extra pieces needed to be bound. I know I was very clear. What is not clear to me is what happened between the estimate and the now new price which was $100 higher. We went ahead with the work since "Hey what's $100? vs my time?" Well, it still bothers me . We would use them again since they do deliver a good quality carpet but I would be very careful to make sure the price doesn't change.

I went to A J Rose, which is where I got the original carpet that had had to be removed (I had paid someone else to do that). They didn't have the same carpet any more, but showed me some comparable (I think) ones. The price was a little higher per foot than what I'd paid two years ago. The salesman said he would "see what he could do" in terms of price when I said I was reluctant to spend more than I had the first time. This was left totally vague, however. I took home a couple of sample sets, and then called in my choice, since I needed the carpet installed by a week and a half from when I first went in. When I called in my carpet choice, he gave me a price based on the listed price of the carpet. When I balked a bit at the total, he went to his calculator and within a few minutes had knocked down the price by about $175. He said something about a discount on the carpet. I wasn't really expecting to wheel and deal like in a car dealership, since last time I just paid what they asked. I was hoping they weren't planning to cut corners somewhere, like on the installation. (They never did say anything about the installation being cheaper because the tack strip was already in place, and I didn't think to pursue it.) The receipt indicated a reduction on the price per foot of the carpet. Anyway, the carpet came earlier than I expected, the installation went smoothly, and so far, so good.

They provided us with an estimate promptly and installed the carpet within a week. The installation team was very professional, timely and did a good job

Received an email from co Rep who asked that I call him in a few days on Sat. What kind of Sales Person makes customer call Him? Not a good Start. Decided to visit store in Burlington, walked into a completely empty store, was not even greeted by woman behind the counter, had to walk over to ask a pricing question, she did not provide much info basically answered my simple question about pricing, that's all. We looked around and not once did anyone approach us to see if they could help or answer questions. At that point I had decided they would not be getting my business and we left. Will not return.

It was a nightmare of an experience. The original installer AJ Rose sent out was absolutely horrible and totally botched the job. In addition both he and his assistant showed absoutely no respect for our home, walking around inside with heavy work boots with lug soles despite my protestations. The seams this man made on the carpet were terrible, unacceptably visible. When I pointed this out to him his response was to kick at the seam with his work boots, I assume trying to bring the ends closer together!!! I was dumbfounded and immediately called the office. No help. Furthermore, during the carpet installation he somehow managed to scratch all of the newly professionally painted baseboard woodwork AND two doors and then left without telling me. All the woodwork required re-painting. When we called the owner and complained she was very defensive and argumentative. Again, absolutely no help. She kept saying over and again that this guy was their "best installer". After refusing to pay the balance due they eventually sent out another individual,their "high end" installer, Norman Beshere, to redo the installation. Obviously the owner lied to us about the original installer being their best. As it happens this second instsaller does not work for AJ Rose but instead is a sub-contractor who they frequently use. Mr. Breshere completely removed the rug and started from scratch, redoing the entire installation. He was totally professional, did a marvelous job and fixed the rug so that it looked like a three thousand dollar rug should. In doing so he pointed out a myriad of reasons why the original installation was flawed. When I called the store to settle the bill I discovered that they had tried to charge my credit card for the balance without my permission. I had placed a stop payment on the account so they were not successful. The store manager, Barry Greenberg, was not really concerned with my satisfaction, instead telling me over and over again how much Mr. Breshere had charged them for the re-installation. I suggested that doing the job right the first time would have been cheaper for him and less of an inconvenience for me. When I asked why he didn't send Mr. Breshere out the first time instead of the guy they did send his response was "he charges too much". I then asked Mr. Greenberg for an adjustment on the balance due to recognize the incredible inconvenience and terrible experience this had been. At first he was unwilling to do so until I threated to report him the better business bureau. He then took roughly 15% off the balance due. In an area were there are many carpet dealers to chose from you can undoubtedly do much better than AJ Rose.

Sales person pleasant, but a little disengaged. Didn't take a real interest in my project. I needed to get the job done, so went ahead and ordered the materials and work. They had a good selection of flooring materials. The installer is a contractor whom you pay separately. Installer came to estimate; very pleasant, punctual, had good suggestions. The estimate was delivered timely, broken out by labor and materials. I agreed to the price and sent them the downpayment. I never received any paperwork documenting the estimate. I set up the installation, it went very well, installer was terrific. When he came back to check on the work and collect payment, the proce for his labor was exactly what was quoted, but the price for the materials was $100 more than quoted. I paid what io believed I owed. Never heard from the company again - no apology for the mistake, no interest in seeing if I was satisfied, nothing.

We didn't end up using this company, but we liked them alot

They were very efficient and neat. It went very smoothly and they were in and out.

The help at the Burlington shop was quite good; we found something at a reasonable price quite quickly and the installation was scheduled professionally. The installers arrived on time, were friendly and worked very professionally. The carpet seems to have been installed correctly, no issues to date. The only problem was that we found a few loose staples on the floor over the next few days. Not good when you have kids. One non-trivial mistake, but I'd use them again if they had a product I liked (and have them ensure they don't make that same mistake again).

The end result went well. I didnt get a great sense of the particular salesman I worked with, found him very casual and hands off. But the quality of work was good.
